“As a caribbean person now living in the Twin Cities this is an authentic taste of home. Everything from Chana Kitchen is good, but the Roti and Doubles transport me back to the islands. They are also a great catering partner, I hired them for my event and it was seemless, everyone was raving about the food!“

“Tasty food! Happy to have some choices for Jamaican cuisine here in the Twin Cities Big Up all West Indian people.. We need to promote establishments such as this; we’ll definitely be making future trips.. I don’t mind the 45min ride to get some amazing Oxtail/ Rice and Peas… patties..& a cold Cola Champagne! Just saying.. would not mind some Soup? CowFoot? .. possibly Escovitch?… OMG that’s good eating!?? ??“

“I love that the menu is made up of both tapas-style options and full entree dishes from the Caribbean + also New Orleans- some of my favorite flavors! The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and helpful. Both the cocktails and NA drinks are fantastic, and the ambiance is a welcome addition to North Loop + the Twin Cities-- festive, fun, relaxing, good vibes.“

“Always a joy to visit West Indies Soul Food. They have a food truck and a booth at the Minnesota State Fair. They keep cooking up delicious treats every year. The jerk chicken pizza and the jerk pork chop on a stick were both amazing! Great food, authentic flavor, and a friendly crew. I’m excited for the upcoming restaurant location! West Indies Soul Food is a must have in the St. Paul area.“

“My new favorite restaurant. Everything we had was amazing! We had shareable plates, so we could try a bit of everything. We couldn't stop eating. Then, the leftover collard greens were great in an omelet the next morning lol. I'll definitely be back.“

“I come to and enjoy Brasa consistently enough that I should finally write a review. The short: service is consistently friendly and helpful, food is consistently good, great gluten-free option with (thus far) no cross-contamination incidents, and a very casual atmosphere. All of my friend group have different favorites: the egg sandwich, the pork bowl, the chilaquiles (my personal favorite.) Every protein comes in different forms: a plate, a sandwich, or a bowl. Most options (except the sandwiches and a couple of sides) are gluten-free. Quick run down of what I've tried: * Chilaquiles with red sauce (the GOAT): the red sauce is such a great flavor and pairs well with the smothered chicken. Their pickled jalapenos and an egg on top makes it a perfect weekend lunch dish. * Egg sandwich: the red sauce reappears on this, to great effect once more. Otherwise it's a simple-but-great egg sandwich served with their tortilla chips. * Fish sandwich: not bad, not my favorite. Flavors are not as punchy as the other options I've had. * Mac and cheese: delightful and simple, thick cheese sauce, no complaints. Crispy yuca, fried plantains, sweet cornbread, also all good. Really, the menu is full of great options. Their beverages don't disappoint either, the coffee and tea are very nice quality -- tea always comes out with a great color and flavor (not bitter at all), coffee pleases even the pickiest coffee nerds in my friend group. Also: no tipping, service fees are built into the menu prices.“

“Definitely recommend! Large portions. Spicy & tasty w/o being "saucy". Suggest early day being best since they close around 8pm. If you're a 'spicy fan', I extra suggest. Decorated walls will keep your eyes busy & wowing the history on them.“

“I'm a staunch supporter of restaurants blazing the trail for tipless pricing as it tends to be more equitable for staff and simpler and more transparent for all. Brasa is tipless, saying it pays its workers $16-25/hr, and it does everything right: delicious rotisserie chicken (pollo a la brasa), tasty sides (the spicy creamed spinach wasn't actually spicy hot, but it was tangy and creamy), fast service, and reasonable prices---remember, no tipping expected. The two-piece rotisserie plate is $15 as of this writing and is enough to satisfy most appetites. An excellent deal for food this delicious and well-prepared. The décor and vibe is very nice too.“

“I'm visiting from TX for a conference and we just ordered food via Door Dash. Hands down some of the best soul food I have ever had. They even have vegetarian/vegan options for my husband. The fried chicken was perfect, Mac & cheese was phenomenal, plantains was *chefs kiss* and I 100% stole my husbands collard greens bc they were SO GOOD. 10/10 recommend.“

“The food is amazing, the employers are amazing, the feeling is amazing. Their welcoming with an uptight attitude. Which gives the great impression of "you better choose anything, because everything is good". I left with the feeling of being accepted. The G.O.A.T,the friend who insisted this restaurant, definitely had a great time as well. I had Sweet Fried Plantains with a Coco Bread Sandwich;pulled pork and chicken and a Jamaican pineapple soft drink. My beautiful and amazing friend had Jamaican Slaw, Kingston Style Jerk Chicken and Sweet Fried Plantains. Our sauces were Jerk Ranch Sauce, MN Nice Sauce, and Kill Dem Wid It Sauce. P.S this restaurant removed the feeling of anxiety. The ambience was satisfying, loud, and exciting.“

“Food took one hour to get done, and then the pot stickers were cold so they were not sticking, sauce was not good and it was all noodles, barely any chicken, which is good because the chicken tasted nasty like it was sitting there for daaaayyys, at the end they gave me little spring rolls for free to bribe me, which obviously worked and made me happy, but I wouldn’t come back here“

“I saw this place on Google after looking for red snapper. I had red snapper prepared in Jamaica and I was craving that same taste. So I gave this place a try. The place itself is small, they have a menu with a number of items and they offer authentic Jamaican soda. I ordered 3 snappers prepared differently, stewed, fried and steamed. My biggest gripe is I was told 30 mins to prepare and it took an hour and a half. There is one cook who prepares everything. The food was really good but the wait will keep me from coming back. The staff were very friendly, and helped in deciding the best options for me. The cabbage was not for me and the rice and peas were decent. I don't want mixed veggies in my cabbage and I'm used to Jamaican cabbage being a bit sweeter. I did add a Mac and cheese and if you're like me, baked Mac and cheese is the only way to go. This was more of a boxed Mac and cheese and I could have saved me $7. I used the stew sauce to help juice up the rice and peas. Now I've never had rice and peas that weren't dry so I think that's just how they're made. Give it a try!Parking: Free parking but not very many spacesKid-friendliness: If kids like Jamaican bring them with you.“
