“TL;DR: Not a typical Mexican restaurant, but absolutely awesome atmosphere if you sit outside. We stopped in after a soccer tournament and enjoyed a relaxed meal with family.I had the Brunch French Toast. It's Brioche soaked in horchata. It's a different take on French toast but good.Several other members of our party enjoyed quesadillas and loved them.“
“Usually great but food not good on a Monday eve. 6 of us. Music so loud you had to yell to talk. Guess good chefs had night off. Worse thing was tasteless chips with some tasteless cheese sauce. Have eaten here for many years. Bring back the old Village Bar. Des peres pub where people even brought their children.“
“James, our server, made it a fun evening. The food as always, was perfect. We had the caprese with lobster salad to start. Light and tasty. Then we had the 12oz Australian Wagyu, cooked to perfection and just about as good as Japanese Wagyu for a lot less. Served sliced and placed in the middle. We love Wagyu and this is a special dish. We were thrilled they had it tonight. We also had the pasta special, spinach tagliatelle with shrimp and scallops and a cheesy delicious sauce with bacon, almost like a carbonara. Not ultra creamy but super good. Big shrimp and scallops. Finally we had the Truffle Mac and Cheese which is addicting and awesome. We brought some home for our grand daughter. Napoli 2 is a great restaurant.“
“Really solid neighborhood restaurant. The zucchini sticks were decent. The prime rub was just delicious and it came on a plate of jus. Nice old school dinner. Wife got the dolmades. Really good dinner.Definitely going to be back and regularly.“
“Wow! This place was soo cool. I found it via Google search for a good Cuban sandwich. I realized that I came here as a child when it was just a bar. The atmosphere is soo cool inside. The food is the best part though. The Cuban honestly did not impress me visually, but when I took a bite... oh my! The pork butt was soo good. My mom had the famous Picadilly fish. She wanted to try the Mayfair salad, but didn't want the whole salad so they made her a side salad with Mayfair dressing. They make this dressing in house and its amazing. I had a cup of Gumbo with my sandwich and it was soo good. I forgot to get a picture of it, but I have to believe it was homemade. I will definitely come back. You should come try it too.“
“Can be a little loud when they are busy. Food is good and you get lots, won't leave hungry.Parking: Depending on how busy they are, sometimes parking is not great. Restaurant shares parking with a convenience type store/sandwich shop, and I believe a laundromat around the corner.“
“I would put myself in debt to eat this food, It's so incredible the head chef is brilliant, and the staff from the front of the house to the back make the entire experience a joy. the wild boar and polenta is writing home about worthy, and the tirimisu makes me emotional... the pizza is literally the only pizza in st louis worth eating and I'm from Chicago so I feel like my opinion is extra valid lol. there are a ton of "fancy restaurants" in St. Louis but table cloths and wine selection don't mean crap when the menu of a reasonably priced pizza joint makes your food look like McDonald's by comparison.“
“The sandwich was really good and there was a lot of it. It cost a bit more than normal but there was a lot of it. The waitress was very nice and we got our food fast, even though the place was very busy. In short it was well worth the visit.“
“Had a wonderful time with wonderful food. The service was great. This was a gift from my daughter and her husband for my retirement. It is a fancier, pricier place, but who doesn’t want to do that once in a while for a special evening out. Go and enjoy a relaxed night out on the town.“
“The breweries cellar serving up some of the best beers made in the world. With an ever changing draft list and an extensive bottle list from the cellar on top of the private and personal experience the small but unique space creates, you are bound to have a great experience. The staff is great and incredibly knowledgeable. In addition my favorite experiences are the multiple special events they have a year serving up their more limited beers.“
“Decent venue, bathrooms pretty clean, seating nice. Alcohol is served here. They have metal detectors in use so if you have anything that can be possibly be used as a weapon, leave it in your car or you will have to make a trip back to your car.“
“Best bar in Saint Louis. The concept is great, only quality Lagers, in a bar with a welcoming, family atmosphere. What more ?The Lagers that were offered, from local and international breweries, were all great, but we especially remembered the milk pours, the spaghetti cocktail and the Malort shots. The manager is super nice too, and we meet great people there.“
“I’m giving everything five stars because the food and beer were good and the staff excellent, save one a-hole manager. Basically we were there on a busy running club night, and as a family of 4 having just arrived to St. Louis looking for dinner, we popped into Heavy Riff to give it a try. We waited in line with everyone else at the “front counter” and a lovely female bartender waited on us and let us know we could grab a table and then she’d help us on the side of the bar where it’d be less hectic for us to order (since we had kids in tow). This was very thoughtful and accommodating of her in the masses of young runners. We met her there and she offered great advice on what to order for kids (spice levels) and as a vegetarian. We were about halfway through ordering when Rick (I got his name later since he ruined the vibe of our experience) butted in and told her she was supposed to be taking orders at the front counter not side bar (about 4 feet away) and said she had to get back there. By his command she had to leave us hanging to wait for the “proper” bartender to take our order which was a few minutes later. He didn’t offer to help. Meanwhile as the staff was slammed with orders this Rick jerk just stood in the back and reined over the staff. He didn’t lift a finger. Even later when I went to settle the tab at the bar he stood at his throne position in the back scrolling, messaging on his phone. (Super unprofessional) I was standing right next to him and he didn’t ask if he could help me. I sure hope Rick isn’t the owner because if he is I would hope employees would quit. Rather, to the owner, it is time to find yourself a new manager as Rick is useless and frankly ruined the good energy we had going. I felt for the staff that had to deal with his power trip. Though we are staying fairly close by, we won’t be back.“
“It was my first time at Maggianos and Angela was our server. She had excellent service and was attentive. Their Irish coffee was really good and their take home entrees are being enjoyed now. Very glad to have had the experience that Angela provided.“
“Our first time here and it was great! Our server Genesis was sweet, bubbly, and attentive. The food was fantastic! Had burrata salad (off menu special), the Tiger rolls, and brisket dipper. Other than the au jus being a little too salty (which is prob normal, I don’t like things that are too salty) would eat it all again it was so good! And the servings are huge, we have enough leftovers for two more meals. The cocktails were also terrific- it’s hard to find a Vieux Carré outside the French Quarter but they make a good one! Sazarac was also delicious. Will be recommending this place to others and will definitely be back!“
“This place is one of my favorite places! They are welcoming and inviting! Steak is always seasoned to perfection. We have been celebrating our life accomplishments at this location for over 15 years and we are never disappointed! Reservations are a must and great for a romantic ambiance, special birthday dinner, and other occasions.“
“Tried this restaurant yesterday. Had a reservation for Valentine’s Day. The food was really good and the waiter was nice. The restaurant wasn’t really crowded when we got there and we still had to wait. The table we got was a high top by the bar, would have preferred a booth or other table in the dining area but all in all it was a good experience. I’d go back for another steak, it was delicious.Dietary restrictions: Peanut free facilityParking: Lots of spots“
“Wow ! What a great place from the food to the decor as soon as you step just inside the door it screams Mexico. I used their event room all day for meetings. Liz and Dave took great care of me all day. Dave was my right hand man, I will be back.“
“Came on with no reservation and was sat right away. Amelia gave us wonderful and quick service but I feel she went above and beyond making multiple suggestions that made our experience even better. The staff was friendly and helpful, overall we enjoyed for a quick last minute weekday dinner!“
“We stayed at the Cheshire hotel and were fortunate to have Basso on the premises! We met a friend here the first night of our stay. The restaurant is in the basement. The atmosphere was inviting with gas lit wall lights, a center bar with booths and high tops. Autumn was a wonderful server. She was so pleasant and informative. We really enjoyed having her as our server. Happy hour is from 4 to 6. We tried the fried meatballs, which were great. The lemon ravioli and the shrimp pasta dish were both delicious. Prices were reasonable. When you dine, the food taste and quality are top priority, but when the food is phenomenal and the service and atmosphere are just as good, it makes the experience memorable. We ended up returning on our second night! Julie was our server and we really enjoyed her, too. She was helpful and interested in our satisfaction! We tried the Brussel sprouts, an heirloom salad with delicious bread. Our entrees were the butcher steak and the burger. The steak was wood fired and super tender! The burger was delicious. The fries and shishito peppers were very good. We highly recommend this hidden gem and thank Autumn and Julie for making our stay in St. Louis so memorable! Oh, try the Secret Door specialty drink, a next level Old Fashioned“
“Very nondescript bar on McKelvey road across the street from Maryland Heights Community Center. This was formerly The Drinking Horn and they have preformed wonders inside/ It's clean , roomy with new tables plenty of TVs for sports viewing and the best bartenders around especially Ronnie! They have Trivia at 7:30 on Thursday evenings and Karaoke on Friday They pour a respectable drink , offer pizza for purchase or you can bring in outside food. If you're in the area give them a try you might just like it.“
“Great hamburger and fies. The service was top notch! Great place and layout with great music and a great band. The Stonewheel Band played as we ate and provided great music the rest of the evening. Prices are more than reasonable considering the high quality if the food they serve and the portions.“
“Good food.. just wish the waiter would have worried about our table just as much as the larger table. Not good for it to take 1.5 hours before your main food arrived.. but could have just been a off night.. still like the place and will go again in the future.“
“Great bar to enjoy delicious pizza and drinks and play a wide variety of pinball. The owners are awesome and always there to make sure their machines are in tip-top shape, and it's CLEAN!!! If you enjoy pinball, you should consider joining their league! Everyone there is friendly and welcoming. Their sister bar (The Silverballroom) is a must visit too!“
“Food tasty, service was attentive and the prices were manageable. A nice neighborhood bar for a meal. Our waitress was exceptionally nice and met our every request with a smile. She was really busy and seemed happy. There were two other waitresses who seemed a lot on edge. There were two bus boys who helped during the evening. All in all a fun experience.“
“I've lived in STL for over 40yrs and last night was my first time here. I've clearly been deprived all that time. Fun, quirky, cozy place with great service and ample room to spread out and have fun. As others have said, great dive bar, hidden gem, etc. In the case of this place, it's both the journey (to get there) AND the destination (a place you want to be) all in one. From the super cool 100+yr old one lane bridge on the road in, to the money stapled to the ceiling, this place would be equally at home in places like New Orleans or Chicago. I will definitely be back.“
“Had a great experience around 6:30pm on Friday night. It was pretty busy with a line to the door, however, the only reason the wait seemed long was because I was hungry and the menu looked so good! When we got to the front counter we were greeted by a nice, very hard working female. Food came quick after we ordered! My husband and I shared the Locoz fries with asada. This was my personal favorite. The fries were nice and crispy (not soggy at all). I loved the pico on the fries as well as their special sauce! Great ratio of steak, cheese, sauce, pico, etc. we also shared three gringo tacos (tinga, pastor, Camaron). My favorite was the pastor and my husband's favorite was the camaron which is shrimp. Beware, these tacos are messy ! Grab lots of napkins. The last thing we ordered was a side of esquites. It wasn't my favorite version of esquites but it was pretty tasty. I think next time I would have topped my tacos with it or tried a different side Next time I want to try either a quesadilla or burrito. They looks AMAZING!! Both big and cheesy!! They also have bottled drinks. I'm not a big beverage fan but this always excites my husband. He got a grapefruit Jarrito (picture of the beverage menu are listed with a picture of the cooler) Parking was hard on a Friday night. We parked across the street in the schnucks parking lot but there is also street parking“
“Our plane had issues so we had to stay overnight and we found this place. Hands down, the best atmosphere, and food around. You just have to experience it for yourself. ??❤️ Hospitality level 1000 straight Expert Mode!!! Check em out yall!!“
“The most legit perfect “hole in the wall” bar I have ever been to! Heavy pours, family owned and operated! Service is pure perfection! AllAround great atmosphere! Perfect place to drink, feel welcomed, and awesome place to meet good people! Conversations are fun, witty and always interesting/ entertaining!“
“It was the first time having St Louis style ribs. They were fried and burnt to the consistency of charcoal. If that's the way there supposed to be then fine and not for me. The staff was very accommodating and let me switch them out for some dry rubbed smoked ribs and they were good. I also had the brisket and it was very good. I would go back again. Just need to know about the St Louis ribs. Not willing to give up.I was in town again and decided to give this place another try. The Mac- n -cheese, fries, popover, and this time the ribs were excellent. However the brisket was dry and tough. It really should not of been served. I've eaten at a lot of BBQ's joints and Salt + Smoke is not alone. They are all hit or miss.“
“I love this place! Especially the bartender Chris! He is my absolute favorite: kind, wise and an exceptional bartender! Love hanging out here in the dark gothic historic bar. Thank you for a great time ~ Please note the worst reviews are like 100 years old!“
“Judy does a wonderful job with the bar and makes everyone feel comfortable and safe when out for a good time. The Pub is probably my favorite bar ever, but then again I might be biased as I have many friends and family members that have all frequented the place in the past as well as currently. But it really feels like an extension of home every time I visit.Parking: Park in front or around the side and if you have to you can even park in back.“
“Outstanding Yelp find. We were in the area and read a review about the best burgers in town. Gotta say, they got it spot on. Great service, very tasty burgers, served up hot with Very good fries. Overall a great location.....we'll be back!!“
“Really cool place with good food. I enjoyed being able to try different drinks. I don’t drink beer but they even have a wall for cocktails and wine. It’s a cool concept. We had several different pizzas at our table. All of them were delicious but I thought the maple bourbon pig was the best. We will definitely be back.“
“One of my very favorite bars! I've been here multiple times and I'm always happy visiting and spending time here. The vibe is upbeat but chill, and they have a great year round patio. This visit in particular was on Mardi Gras, which was a great spot to have a couple drinks without actually heading down to Soulard. We sat on the heated patio and had a couple of drinks and were able to chat while still hearing one another. Bartenders are always helpful and friendly, and they have a good selection of beverages. I typically go for the 4Hands seltzers since they're my fav. It got to be super packed full of Mardi Gras go-ers, so we headed out after about an hour and a half. Always a good choice!“
“Low-key, neighborhood pool bar. Excellent bar-pool tables kept in good condition. Full bar service but a serious cocktail would be out of place here. Staff is always friendly and the place is generally packed, particularly if they're hosting a tournament or pool league competition. My favorite thing about this place is they have a challenge table where you can keep playing for free as long as their are challengers and you beat them! Definitely the best pool bar in town.“
“We were very impressed with this restaurant. The food was very good, and they have the best Mexican food menu that we have found since moving to the St. Louis area a year ago. All the standards are on the menu, plus some very nice real Mexican options. The place is not fancy, but it is laid out well, except there is no real waiting area when it is busy. It was very busy both times we went. Service was great with a friendly staff. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. We have had Mexican all over the U.S. and have lived in New Mexico and Texas and have traveled all over Mexico. So we have a broad base for comparison. I would rate the food higher, but I have not tried enough of the menu yet.“
“Seems like a nice place if you like cigars. They have good drinks and outside seating which is a plus during good weather. Sundays seem to be popular with the fellas ladies. ? They don't serve food though, but overall a good place to hang.“
“Made a pit stop after the botanical gardens on our way home. Gooooood Italian food, kids loved the chicken tenders,,,, oooh- the zucchini sticks- yum!! Wish I knew they had the onion soup- I would have ordered that instead of the chili. Good place to fill your tummy before hours of driving back home!“
“Ice & Fuel is my go-to spot for what I feel is the best burger in STL. The cooked-to-order freshness is outstanding. With fresh, crisp vegetables and sides, it's hard to beat. If your cardiologist is more forgiving than mine, get a side of onion rings! Drinks are cheaper than most places and the pours are perfect. The staff is always courteous and attentive. Frequent visits and you'll be remembered - that's a great part of going here. My one complaint: It is loud. Very loud. Between 5 and 7 you're probably not going to have a few cocktails and catch up with friends. If yelling people is your thing, you'll love it! Overall Ice & Fuel is a great, underrated beer and burger joint. Check it out!“
“Awesome place to listen to live music and drink! They also have two party room options for rent! You can also rent the who place, including a sound engineer for a great rate! So many options with Sky Music Lounge and it's in a great location!“
“When my siblings and i walked into McLain's for our annual siblings' night out last night, we were greeted by the bartender and multiple patrons as if we were all great friends. We've never felt more welcome. There's a digital juke box, a pool table , and a shuffle board. I could do without the indoor smoking, but luckily there were only a couple of smokers. What a great little neighborhood bar!“
“Old school bar/restaurant! Smell of cigs and cold beer can get any better reminds me of childhood because I was born in 70's Wed and Saturday the best fried chicken you ever ate! You get mashed potatoes and green beans. The fried mushrooms are bomb with the horseradish dip. Cheeseburger is strong! The Willy onion rings are fabulous. It ain't fancy but the food/cold drinks are the main attraction. Sits by a train track hear the whistle! Service is fast and friendly! Family owned.“
“First time here and it was definitely a good vibe. Multiple food trucks with some delicious food. A lot of vendors out there selling things. Some small games to the side. The drinks at the canteen were definitely over priced and with little alcohol. And the unlimited mimosas is a joke really, they filled maybe 1/4 with champagne and the rest orange juice. It needs to be the opposite with 3/4 champagne and a 1/4 orange juice but heyParking: Parking can get crammedKid-friendliness: Plenty of kids there“
“Excellent little bowling alley in the top of a cupcake shop. This place is a time capsule back to the 60s with wood panel everything, billiards, jukeboxes, and excellent bowling equipment. Went for a 5 year olds party and they had a blast. The owner did a lot of decorating as well and we had no problem with anything.“
“**Cash Discount**Fergie's is a neighborhood staple that we're lucky to have around. The place is popular with an older crowd, so even if you try to get ahead of them and eat dinner at 4:30, the place is likely already busy. All the staff is pleasant, courteous, and takes care of their customers.I don't know about much else here other than the fried chicken. It's some of the best in STL hands down; half a chicken, two sides, and a roll for only $10 can't be beat, just make sure you have the time to wait... it's all cooked to order!“
“I had a sourdough burger(rare) with fries here with my aunt. Everything about the meal was perfect. The burger was exactly how I wanted it and tasted great. The fries were fresh and crispy and the service was great. Will be visiting here again.“
“Being I'm a truck driver from out of time I stopped there for a drink and food and they was very welcoming there. Most bars don't like out of Towner's but they included in their round of shots and I drink too shelf??But that fish platter ???. The Owner and and her sister also check on you to make sure your good. I'll be seeing them again next time in in STL“
“Love this place! Great people, low priced drinks, and some of their newest karaoke DJ, Lindsey, has the best sound system I've sang on in years. You can hear yourself perfectly and the sound is extremely well balanced.Ashby Pub still stands as my favorite local dive. Cathy makes this the most welcoming and friendly place you'll ever find. A diamond in the rough to be sure.“
“We had our mid-winter Model T Ford lunch here. Probably 25-30 folks showed up. They have an area that was able to accommodate us all, and we had great service, even though we were a larger party. The serviced was spot on, drinks came out quickly and the food orders followed close behind. So many different dishes were served and it seemed as though everyone enjoyed the food. They did not seem to mind we sat around for a couple of hours swapping our stories. Another nice thing was they let us have separate checks, which makes for a much easier time for our group. There is more than one location in the area, and we plan on trying a different one next time.“
