“We've passed this place several times and for my birthday, I figured we'd give it a try.The place is exactly the aesthetic I was hoping for, a lodge/inn look, with great lighting and simple decor. It's not something others may care about, but for me, it sets a great mood. And this place delivers on that for me.I was told they had a tomahawk ribeye steak on special, and I couldn't resist ordering it (admittedly, without asking the price), my wife ordered the filet.I don't want to complain too much, especially since we didn't bring it up to our server, but we both ordered the steaks medium-rare, and what we both received was medium to medium-well... a significant temperature difference. Especially for those cuts. That was disappointing, but we stopped 'complaining' about overcooked steaks a long time ago; too many horror stories.But, the flavor was outstanding, seasoned flawlessly, my only nitpick on the tomahawk (besides being overcooked) was the rosemary garnish, it should have been left off the dish unless you love to eat those needles. That is pretty much culinary school 101, don't plate something that can't or shouldn't be eaten.The staff was great with everything else, including bringing me a cupcake with a candle on it and wishing me a 'Happy Birthday'.For the price, I expected much better preparation of the steaks, but the place itself, the service/staff, and the overall flavor of everything were very very good.It's a birthday dinner I'll not forget (in a good way).“
“We have been trying to get in for months, maybe even years. Yesterday my friend got a notice (from being on the waitlist) there was a table and she was able to get one. And we were thrilled. We got there early, and since we have never been the 4 only bar seats actually aren’t for a bar. So we were turned away to just have a drink. But this was completely on us, and it fully say bar is first come first serve and they we’re very nice about it. We just didn’t know how strict that was. So we went next door for a drink and came back promptly for our reservation.Well let me say this place is worth the wait. Easily one of the best restaurant in St Louis. Our server Mike was amazing. He gave great drink recs and sold every dish with his descriptions. Everything was more than perfect. The food, the staff, the ambience. It all makes perfect sense why this place is jammed. I only hope we can get on the list sooner than later, but we will be trying. 10 out of 10!! Our family went there for brunch so had both the brunch & lunch menus available to us - the empanadas that we treated as starters were phenomenal and so many choices for the mains. “We were excited to try the Tavern tonight for the first time. We were a bit underwhelmed. I only got 3 scallops for a $45 entree (even Disney will give you 4 for the same price). Additionally, the fries and baked cookie had a burnt aftertaste from the oven. For $150, we thought it was significantly overpriced for what we got.“

“Have been going here for years but last night's service and food was beyond any experience we have ever had. I commented on their Facebook post about a dessert and how awesome it would be to try the next night when we were there. They set one aside and put it with our reservation! That is about the highest level of service I have ever experienced at any restaurant. Jamie is an amazing host and I will make sure to request his section every time we make a reservation. He has been our host the last couple times and just goes above and beyond for all his guests. Cannot say enough great things about every experience we have had here.“
“This is a VERY nice restaurant in Clayton. I didn't realize it was fine dining and showed up in a hoodie and jeans. At first, I was concerned that I would be turned away or treated differently because of my attire, but that wasn't the case. We ( my son and I) were led to a booth and ordered drinks. My son ordered a burger, which looked delicious. He confirmed that it was. I ordered the lobster bisque, and it was to die for!! Velvety smooth and full of chunks of lobster! Honestly, the BEST lobster bisque I've ever had! For dessert, we had cheesecake, and again, it was divine!The atmosphere is beautiful!! You are immediately filled with a sense of calm. Its the kind of place you would take someone for a very special occasion...like a marriage proposal. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. We were well taken care of and will definitely be back!Kid-friendliness: It is NOT a place for small children.“

“We had an amazing dinner tonight at YaYa’s! The sea scallops were exquisite and are the best we’ve had in St. Louis. The salmon salad and gnocchi were delectable, as were the cocktails. The icing on the cake was being served by the one and only, Andy Samberg!! I can’t believe he works here! The service was amazing as was his comedic nature! “This is in contention with the fanciest place that I've ever had dinner. I had the steak and mashed potatoes, both of which were the best that I've ever had. I added a succulent bone marrow butter that I still think about from time to time. The service is top notch as you would expect.If you are driving you have to valet park. Be prepared for that. Also, plan to spend money. It was the most expensive ticket that I've ever had.“
“This was very first time eating here. The cuisine is excellent! I had the lunch special, Generals chicken for $10.99. Fast, gracious, attentive service once you are seated. However, they never even made eye or greeted me upon arrival, or after sitting down. Make sure you initiate it or you may be "waiting to be seated" for awhile lol.“
“The food was delicious. My wife said her gyro was the best gyro she's ever had. I had the chicken shawarma and it was really good. The prices are better than they should be for the food you get. I would definitely recommend trying this place.My only complaint is that the TV in the dining area was stuck on a news channel while we were there, which was showing some pretty brutal war photos, but that's on me for feeling too awkward to want to ask them to change the channel.“

“Hidden gem! Despite being hidden in a rather boring strip mall Cowbron truly stands out as a great Mexican restaurant. It's a relatively new spot, and as I mentioned it's pretty unknown, so don't expect to wait long for a table. I personally have eaten here about 5-6 times and have yet to wait for a table on a Thursday or Friday night. Don't be fooled, they are amazing but quite off the map in terms of nearby restaurants, which is how I account for their low wait times. The food is great! The fajitas are large portions, enough for two to split after a couple baskets of chips and queso, and they have THE BEST CARNITAS I have ever had in my entire life. As a former chef I can definitely speak to this as carnitas are a dish that take time and thoughtfulness to be done great, both of which are evident once you've tried the tender meat on offer here. As a regular to Mariachis II and La Catrina I can tell you that this place has earned a spot in my top 3 favorite Mexican joints in the city. Go to Cowbron!“
“Food was very delicious and flavorful. I really enjoy authentic Mexican food, and hit the nail on this one. The corn they give you on the side was delicious and sweet and very moist. The drinks were deli's as well. The service was amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. The inside was very clean,spacious and dim lit. They came out to take my order at the curb ( told me the whole menu) then told me to park in the back and they brought me my order to go. IOrder the steak sandwich . It was delicious really full of meat ( asked to cut in 3rd,) it came with chips and I also ordered of the 1/2 lb potato salad ( it was excellent ) I got two meals . Out of that order. Yummm.“

“I have been to this place a few times and it's been consistently good. They have a great ambiance and service. We tried the 4 pork gnocchi and the spicy shrimp diablo. Both the dishes were very good. We tried a few of their cocktails - a few different Mezcal cocktails and it was good. They have happy hour every day from 3-6 PM. For dessert, we had the beignets. It lived up to the expectations!“

The chicken tikka masala and the lamb curry was nice, though my lamb had a super crunchy bit that I couldn’t tell what it was. Not as spicy as I was hoping for but I was happy. The rice pudding they gave wasn’t very good, had a muted taste. The bread was excellent. Service was okay, the servers weren’t very chatty and we had like 4 different people checking in. Kind of an awkward experience. Would definitely get carry out or go again!“

The shrimp and grits are the best I have has this side of the Mississippi! It really hits all the cozy, comfort dish points. “I ate here tonight and had the Chile Colorado with beef tips in verde sauce. The beef was tender and the sauce was nice and hot, very good. The portions were standard and the rice and beans were good too. The atmosphere is more quiet than other competitors which was nice. They also had a man singing and playing guitar which was a real nice touch. The service was fine. The chips could be upgraded. I will be going back sooner than later.“

“Solid restaurant. If you want to enjoy the whole experience, you can go and check out the Teppanyaki grill. If you're more of a people watcher or on a date, you can sit back in a booth and still enjoy the good food in a little bit more of an intimate setting. If you have a birthday they come out and play a little tune for you.. it's pretty funny. The cheese wontons are a great starter and you can order what you would get from the Teppanyaki Grill brought straight to your table. Everything here is solid. Wait staff is usually cool and right on time. They work together well as far as expediting. Not the cleanest restaurant but they get really busy so I its understandable.“
