“Came into Boone for dinner after hiking. We decided to eat here at The Local. Had Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer, which was pretty good, and the Steak and Frites, it was pretty good also. Waitress was awesome, very attentive! Great atmosphere. Would recommend!“
“Let me tell you something: if you want to throw down on some truly SATISFYING southern fare, Proper is the place to do just that! There is hardly a single thing on the menu I haven't licked my plate clean after eating, but I GOTTA give a special shout out to those fried green tomatoes with the pimento cheese AND that meatloaf. I don't know who is in that kitchen, but they are FREAKING it Thursday through Sunday! Thank god for this place.“
“Came here on weekend trip. Love the atmosphere here! We ordered the Mojo Burrito along with the soup and sammy. Tomato soup was delicious and smokey from the gouda. The burrito has a really good kick with the pineapple chunks. Our server Bri was very helpful guiding us on what to order and was quick to attend to our needs! The Apple cider is also amazing and refreshing if you’re looking for something refreshing and dry. Highly recommend if you’re looking to get grilled cheese and soup on a cold day.“
“Stopped in for dinner and had the honey chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and tender, the spices added a little heat while the honey added a nice bit of sweetness to it. Would definately recommend the Hatchet coffee stout. Our server was great, she had good recommendations and was very attentive. It was a very good experience and I would certainly recommend stopping by for some delicious food and beer.“
“Best breakfast food I've had, if you like sasuages you have to get them! Service was great but there wasn't alot of seating, we were lucky and didn't have a wait when we got there, but it got real busy when we went to leave, there was a line out the door. Even if you have to wait, it's well worth it for the food!“
“Besides the fact that they have the best burgers both beef and veggie, they have a lunch special every day. Absolutely delicious. And don't worry about it being in a pool hall. The owner, Chris, is always there. No smoking, no drinking, no cussing and be careful with the first class equipment. Plus you can eat with your dog on the nice porch.“
“This brewery was the outstanding point of interest during our trip to Boone. We went twice! People make the place and we would like to send a big thank you to the owner Megan who took time not only to help us decide on some of South Ends great beers, but also directed us on what to hit up during our stay in the great town of Boone. The beers here were great. My lady like the hazy they had and I had a flight. Honestly try all the beers; they are superb. We cant wait to go back or purchase some cans when we see them in stores.Oh and the food was great also!“
“Great experience and one of my new favorites. Food was excellent. Fresh, well seasoned and good variety of options. Staff was great with timely and attentive but not overbearing wait staff. Wine and drink options were great and very reasonably priced.Very clean and well run local owned restaurant. Nice location on the outskirts of downtown. Definitely worth a trip. Would highly recommend. They also have several GF and vegan options.“
“I went here after a App State football game, the place was packed and it was only a hour before closing time, this place is so freaking good it's not even funny, I had the crab bisque, and it would knock your socks off with how awesome it tasted, they had many bartenders ready to make any drink you could think of, the waiters were checking in every few minutes so there was no way you could go without a refill, the French fries were made just perfect, with a slight crunch and just the right amount seasoning, if you've got the time hit this place up, you won't regret it.“
“The Cardinal has exceptional burgers with a menu they keep updated frequently with fresh items. Their seasonal cocktails are always delicious. They keep great local brews on tap with a variety of craft beers from all over. One of our favorite places to eat and drink in Boone!Editing 3 years later, Nov 2020:The Cardinal continues to be one of our favorite places in town. They have done an outstanding job in caring for their employees and greater community throughout Covid and continue to show love for every human. Favorite place for some tasty food and some drinks!“
“Came here with a group of 4 for my birthday dinner and absolutely loved it! Cozy vibe, great food and excellent service. Highlights: Brussel sprouts, Caesar salad, filet and meatloaf. Server was on top of it the entire time. Very knowledgeable on the menu, gave recommendations, and was super attentive throughout the entire meal. Thanks for a great experience!!“
“Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning and was so impressed! The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating and the food SOOO good. The roasted potatoes were some of the best I have had! Coffee cup constantly full and staff went above and beyond! Going back on Sunday morning!“
“Visiting town, we stopped in for a quick dinner. Service was great, food was fantastic and it was quick. The server picked us out a really good hard Cider. Pimiento cheese app was fantastic, would enjoy the recipe if you wanted to share. We’ll be back the next time we’re in town.“
“Best french fries in the county. Good service, low wait time and not much has changed since the 1980s. It is good to see a long lasting small business. Well worth the trip to the Boone Mall.Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendly.Parking: Parking is in the Boone Mall parking lot. Plenty of free parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Good wheelchair accessibility, I actually sat in a booth that was next to a patron with a wheelchair. Ample room.“
“I treated my friend's and my family out for lunch during our vacation stay. I chose this restaurant based on the food pictures from previous customers' reviews.Pros:1. I recommend their signature French onion soup which I ended up ordering two bowls to share with everyone.2. My group enjoyed the artichoke dip with crusty toasted bread.3. I ordered the Cajun style pasta which wasn't served for lunch but the restaurant accommodated my request and allowed me to order that. The pasta was delicious!4. I ordered four creme brulee and it was well liked by the majority of the group.5. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs.Cons:1. I mainly cane for the grilled chicken breast with baked potato entree but it wasn't available for lunch.2. I ordered the salmon salad which was okay. Salmon wasnt that tender and medium rare but still manageable to chew and swallow.3. Lobster bisque wasn't that great. We hardly tasted any lobster. It was just too yellowy cheesy and creamy without the lobster taste.4. Not many people in my group liked the pimento cheese with veggies.5. "Grandma" complained that the booth smelled unpleasant like some kind of cleaning chemical that she refused to sit in.6. Dining table was very icky and sticky, that seems to be cleaned better.Overall, I highly recommend the French onion soup and their pasta dish.“
“Everyone was so kind. The food was very good and beautifully presented. It was nice to receive bread at the beginning, but that was nothing to speak of. We had the trout, emu and the chocolate torte which was delicious as well. Crazy drive to get there for someone who isn't use to the mountains.“
