“What a fun place to eat! Earlier this week was visiting a local company and they suggested the Webb Custom Kitchen for lunch. It was so cool what they have done with the place to keep the history alive in the building. It did take the course of the meal to really appreciate all of the small little details that they put in to the place to create that atmosphere. The most obvious were the old production equipment pieces that were on display in the "lobby" and throughout the restaurant. Also, it was neat to see old black and white movies being run on the stage during lunch. One of the subtle details was the framed artwork that, when you looked closely, were actual film frames from movie reels. Another was the music playing in the background. For the duration of our lunch all that played in the background were movie scores. It was fun to attempt to be the 1st to correctly recognize which movie that music was associated with. The servers, dressed as theatre ushers, were also eager to provide a brief history of the place and they used terms that made you think more of a movie theater versus a restaurant. Now for the food. It was tasty and my best comment that I can make is that I hope for the opportunity to return for there were multiple items that I wanted to try. Personally I got the Turkey and Brie cheese sandwich with the bacon soup. Each of the lunch menu items were simple (Turkey & cheese sandwich, Reuben, Chicken sandwich, etc...) but with a little bit of something different included which changed the taste from what you normally expect. They have done a great job in creating a lunch menu that was fun to try their take on classic selections. If close to the area it is worth stopping in for the food alone, but what I really enjoyed was the entire atmosphere and just very complimentary to how they have taken an iconic building and preserved the history in a fun way. You should not be disappointed.“

“We had an amazing meal at Chillfire. The service was great from the moment we entered until we left. Especially our waiter. The food came out fast and was delicious. The restaurant was beautiful. Restrooms were clean. Everything was perfect. I was afraid there would be a long wait given it was a weekend evening, but the restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside. There were plenty of available tables and staff, even at 6 pm on a Saturday. We had the poutine appetizer which was very good. It was piled high with toppings and piping hot. I was a bit surprised that the fries seemed more like McDonald's fries than the ones cut in house but they were cooked nice and crispy and worked well with the gravy. For entrees I ordered the Oak Island, which was a 6 oz filet with scallops and side of creamed spinach. My husband ordered the prime rib that was one of the specials that day. He was going to order the queen cut but the waiter said it was only $4 difference for the king, so why not go big. He chose the potato hash as his side. Everything was delicious! The scallops were cooked perfectly, as was the filet. It had a perfect sear while still being a perfect medium through the center. The bacon vinaigrette was a perfect sauce, sweeter than I expected from a vinaigrette which I thought complimented the scallops well. The prime rib was a huge cut and cooked to be a perfect rare. I'm not usually one to order rare myself but being prime rib, it seems to be the way to go. I tried a few bites and it was very tasty. Especially with the au jus to dip it in. The potato hash was a great choice for fhe. The sauce was so creamy and the portion was huge. We both left miserably full but enjoyed every minute of it. I'm already planning my return trip!“

Another Food Truck American • $
1420 Perfection Ave, Belmont - 6.05 miles

“Friday night my husband and I decided to kick off the weekend by trying a Chopped Champion's food truck. If you're on the hunt for the ultimate burger and sandwich, you can find it here. We arrived shortly before they were done for the night. As a result, they were sold out of their fish sandwiches. I was bummed because it's the only thing I wanted to try. My husband ordered the Double Bacon Swiss. I'm not really into spicy food, but I'm also the type who doesn't like ordering the exact same thing, so I opted for the Hot Chicken Smash.I'm not a chef, a cook, a baker, or a grill master. When I take a bite of food, I can't readily tell you every single ingredient I taste. That being said, my perspective on this burger and chicken sandwich won't have tons of detail. In a nutshell, the food was a chef's kiss emoji, a praise hands emoji, and the fire emoji. Seriously. After we both took one bite of the burger and one bite of the chicken sandwich, we agreed to split them because they were both sooo good. This is what I expect to taste when I'm feeling like a burger or sandwich at a nice restaurant. Flavor-filled, high-quality food. I can't tell you much more about it, other than the burger had lots of bacon on it and the chicken sandwich was HOT. My husband said it had "some kick." But I don't typically eat spicy food so my mouth was on fire. And I still ate all of my half because it was just that good. After the first bite, I completely forgot about being bummed out because they sold out of fish. If we're ever within a drivable distance from this truck and hungry, we'll return and try more of their menu.“

“Update 02/12/24: (Takeout advice. See below). According to Google reviews, I posted the last update in 2022. Unfortunately, Google does not allow multiple reviews from a User so one has to update the initial review. Why this is is a bit of a mystery as one’s views can change over time.I’m happy to say that my opinions on Joey’s hasn’t really changed over time. They still serve the best Pizza in Denver, NC now that their main competitor, Pomodoros, closed. Pomodoros closed not because the food or service was lacking but simply because they could not staff their kitchen. What a terrible commentary on our time. So, where are we today? This update is simply to advise customers that if ordering takeout, no matter the time you specify for pickup or if just ordering ahead, arrive at least 10 minutes before the time you are told the food will be ready.Personally I try to get there a minimum of 15 minutes early and chill at the bar so I can get the food as it comes out of the kitchen. Trust me, if you arrive at the specified pickup time, your food has been cooling for 10 minutes, maybe more.I am not changing my rating but post this as an FYI for those who take heed of reviews.—/////——I’ve written about Joey’s before which would usually rate 4 stars from me. It is my family’s go-to place for pizza, specifically, Grandma’s pizza which is Detroit-style pizza, a rectangular, thick pizza with your choice of toppings, a goodly amount of cheese, and sauce. (Note, try to eat it fresh; it does not hold all that well overnight). But this review is not about the food tonight (skip down 3 paragraphs for why I am giving 5 stars this time) except to say we had the Amberjack special, a wrap, and the usual for my son, a chicken quesadilla.I don’t typically order fish when I go out and on the dinner menu at home, we were supposed to have salmon but Brian L talked me into trying the Amberjack. Go figure.Amberjack is a mild fish, often cut as a thick steak. Tonight’s serving was diced into large cubes with tri-color tortellini, spinach and a creamy garlic and Grand Marnier sauce. Very good so if you go sometime and see it as a dinner special, give it a try. But, I am burying the lead. Tonight’s 5-star rating goes to Brian. This guy is from Brooklyn, Italian, and maybe the best waiter in Denver. Why? He’s engaging, does a great job of explaining dishes, entertainingly served up by his Brooklyn accent, and most importantly, he dutifully clears away empty dishes and the usual litter of stuff from a meal (paper straw sleeves, etc.) WITHOUT being asked. This bears repeating and LISTEN UP every single other server in my little village of Denver, NC: Your normal duty as a server should always include taking away the empty plates and other detritus of a meal. Allowing all this stuff to just pile up and clutter the table during and after the meal is annoying to many and directly impacts my tip to you. Failing in this very traditional act of serving, you are failing as a good server. In my experience, there are a lot of just ok servers in Denver, poorly trained and lacking anything like a professional demeanor. Sure, we have many friendly servers, but very, very few really good ones. And what separates the professional from the friendly are really taking care of your customers which always includes clearing away the table. It is a very small but crucial step, ignored by too many unless asked.I start at 20% and either deduct or add to the tip depending on the overall experience. I am happy to report that Brian’s tip went north.Well done, Brian.“

“I'm not gonna lie. When I come to the south, it's my all-time favorite. So you know I'm a little biased. I just want you to know that before I give my usual stamp of approval. The reason I give a great rating every time, though, is because it's always good. It's hard not to like something that always tastes good, is presented for, and is always, always, always served by people who do a good job. I have to be honest, I'm rarely going to complain. Yes, they mess up. They forgot my ham and cheese in my eggs, but they did put it in my hash browns. I asked for both, and they got it in one. As soon as she saw it was wrong, she had the cook add it. It's not your regular restaurant. It's like nothing else you can eat at.“

“We were out for a motorcycle ride and I Googled Best Burgers near me. Chuckwagon Grill came up. It did not disappoint. I had the regular cheeseburger basket and my husband had the deluxe. The burgers were delicious although my husband's was well done and he had asked for medium. He still enjoyed it. They give you a mountain of fries with the baskets. My burger was missing the onion, but it was still good. My only real complaint was that all of the inside tables were dirty. I used some of my unsweet tea to desticky ours. We would go back, if in the neighborhood again.“

“Excellent food, fast and friendly service, prices are decent. I really don't have anything negative to say about my first time eating here! I got the southern philly and my boyfriend got the fried pickle philly. Both were amazing and fresh but his was delectable, I'll get the fries pickle philly next time. My friend got the buffalo chicken pita and it was stuffed full of chicken and a delicious looking sauce. Their fries were a lot like cookout fries (which is a good thing imo) and I got the cucumber salad which was refreshing and delicious and also fun alternative for the usual side of fries. I will be returning here in the future!“

“Consistent, fresh, delicious, great atmosphere and service. The turkey burger is excellent. Not sure what they season it with but it is fantastic. Shakes are great and home made banana pudding is dreamy! Scott, the manager, expects nothing but tip top service and he treats his employees well and it shows. This is a must place.“

“I hosted my daughters bridal shower at Heirloom on 1/13/24. They did an amazing job from the start when I contacted David to start planning, to menu selection and all of the fine details. Chef Chris Davis did an outstanding job executing an upscale authentic Italian menu. The staff were terrific , on point and attentive. Everything was delicious and so well received by my guests, even the Italian New Yorkers approved! My entire experience was easy, seamless, fun and delicious. Thanks!“
