“Excellent chicken, good service, fair prices and even senior discounts. Minor flaw is one cook who peppers some pieces heavier than others, too much for our taste.UPDATE 01/2024:Since the original report, Smithfields in Wilson has either changed formula or begun overcooking its chicken and seems to use a heavier oil than before.Golden brown chiken has become medium brown, crisp & flaky crust has become more flat & crushed in nature.Consistent size pieces have become nearly half sized on several occasions! We are guessing this is a local management issue, or the lack of consistent management at this store.“
“Among my favorite barbecue experiences I've ever had. The North Carolina whole hog method is brilliantly represented here. The dinner includes an all you could eat option with a 2 piece fried chicken. If you are traveling through on 95 this is a must stop! Sweet tea is a typical indication of how good a Carolina joint is and here they serve it exceedingly well, really cuts through the richness of the meal and keeps you asking for more.“
“I ordered a flounder dinner today with slaw, collards, hush puppies and blueberry cobbler.I requested the flounder be cooked crispy and it was perfect. The collards were not as good as mine but I ate them. Everything else was so good I cleaned the plate, which is something I don’t usually do. I would have tipped the cook if I could for the flounder.Congratulations Marty’s good food and excellent service.“
“Was in area, decided to find a local BBQ business for take out. Turkey BBQ sounded interesting. What a find! Boogie's Turkey BBQ location/building exterior/interior spotlessly clean. When I informed staff this was my first visit, I was promptly offered a taste sample of BBQ. DELICIOUS! Ordered 1 quart of BBQ, pint of slaw, sweet tea and housemade lemonade. Staff obviously takes great pride in service and food. I will make the trip from Raleigh again and again to try more of their menu offerings: collards, cabbage, green beans. Highly recommended ?“
“I'm from TX...and I found my people! Lol I can only speak for the brisket - and they had the fatty, juicy, pull apart brisket I like!! Oh my! In TX we rarely use sauce because you don't need it if the meat is right. There were a couple of pieces that were more lean, so I used their sauce on it. Ohmygoodness! That sauce is bomb! Mean, perfect! I'm glad I tried it. Gave sis a bite and she went the next day! Lol. Folks, if you love brisket, Wilson, NC has your back. I double-dare you to bring happiness to your mouth...go get it! ???“
