“This is a cute little soup and salad place - very bright and clean. Soups are excellent - we actually ended up buying two buckets to go and enjoyed them for the next couple of days (Thai noodle and Pumpkin bisque). Salads were fresh and I think pre-made. The restaurant seems to mostly cater to take-out customers. Salads are given to you in take out boxes and you serve yourself the soup. I liked that they list all of the ingredients in the soups. Like another customer, i was nonplussed by the automatic tip at the checkout (you can opt out, but need to look for it). The food is priced appropriately and there is no real service, so I don't quite understand the need for a tip. Otherwise, friendly staff and a good place to grab a quick, healthy bite.“

“The new protein waffles are bomb!! There’s a full scoop of protein/21 grams in each order, yet it doesn’t have the weird protein powder taste. My favorite is the kind with blueberry lemon compote. The coffee is also really good. My son got an everything bagel with a smoothie, perfect combo. Makes it even better to be able to enjoy outside in the sun at one of the picnic tables. Definitely stop by ?Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy alternatives available, many veggie and vegan choices on the menuKid-friendliness: Open space with picnic tables, shrubs, flowers, sun, umbrellas“

“I found this place because I was searching for a chefs tasting table. They ended up being booked out for a year so I figured just regular reservations would suffice.I booked the bar and was so glad I did. We got there and there was an anniversary card hand-signed with little congratulatory messages from the entire staff. So sweet. We did a bunch of small plates. I don’t know if I remember everything but it was all fantastic. They also brought out other dishes compliments of the chef. The chef came out twice and just chatted with us. My husband asked him about sunchoke because he’d never heard of it, and he literally went back to the kitchen and came back to show us what it was. The sous chef came out too. The owner and the bartender tag-teamed serving us and everyone was just so friendly, informative, and just so pleasant to be around. Everything was plated like a work of art. We literally stared at each plate in awe because of how pretty it all looked. Every dish was fully explained when they presented it.We started with charcuterie and it was amazing. Three meats I haven’t had before, all house made. House made pickles, jam, and crackers. A mustard that was out of this world. For our small plates we had:- crispy octopus with a squid ink tuile and some sort of amazing potato fondue. It was the best octopus I’ve ever had. We ordered it twice.- steak tartare with quail egg and potato croquettes. So tender and such an amazing mix of flavors.- duck fat beignets. We got these twice. The first was a sugar coated beignet with Serrano (I believe) ham, goat cheese and a jam. The second was foie gras with goat cheese and grapes. The sweet and savory and salty all together was a complete shock to my system. I’d eat them daily if I could.- hay smoked carrots with cecina, black garlic and port poached pears. This was compliments of the chef and was just such an amazing surprise.- salmon crudo with grapefruit, bergamot and freshly grated horseradish. Such an interesting mix of flavors. The salmon was served raw so the grapefruit was a great tenderizer. It was so buttery and fresh.- fois gras served with sunchoke cake. Yes, cake. The cake was sweet and moist and felt dense but was really light. Absolutely amazing. I don’t know if that even makes sense but that’s how I can describe it. Best fois gras I’ve ever had.- ricotta tortellini- also compliments of the chef. The dough was so tender. The ricotta was so smooth and creamy. It was served with garlic scapes and almonds and mushrooms that were perfectly cooked.- we ended up getting a cheese plate at the end as well. All three cheeses were so different and perfect. Also served with the crackers, jam, and a different mustard. For dessert we ordered a layered chocolate stout cake with a black sesame tahini ice cream. It reminded me of the most elevated chocolate peanut butter dessert you can imagine. They also sent us three other ice creams: roasted almond, fois gras, and mushroom. Everything was so creamy, perfectly sweet, and flavorful. Just absolutely stunning.I’m drooling just reliving it in my mind. I cannot wait to go back. The owner informed us about the outdoor seating along the river during the summer and how on Wednesdays (I think) they do fresh oysters that are caught that morning and the person who catches them delivers and shucks them as ordered. This was the most wonderful anniversary dinner and truly one of the top 5 dining experiences I’ve ever had, no questions asked. Such a wonderfully unexpected food gem in Exeter! Our sincerest thanks to every single staff member that made our night something we will talk about for a very long time.“

“Love it! The food was amazing, especially the ginger scallion shrimp burger. The staff were super friendly and they took care of everything that we needed. We also came with our service dog and we didn’t have any problems. I would recommend making a reservation, if not you just can walk right in.“

“I’m from the Boston area and was meeting a friend in Portsmouth for dinner. We picked Durbar Square and we’re definitely not disappointed. We had an absolutely fabulous meal there. The chicken chili was a delicious, and a different approach than any chili I’ve had before. The chicken was perfect cooked. The sauce was full of flavor. They also ask you to pick yours spice range from 1-10 so you can choose what suits you best. The owner, John, is totally engaged with his customers and if you want, can even demonstrate a yoga pose or 2 (which he is very good at). Just overall a great place to eat.“

“After a long trip traveling from Long Island Bahamas, we were cold and hungry. Stopped in and Lola was so welcoming, made me and my daughter Isabella (9 years old) feel right at home. Isabella who is usually quiet, chatted with Lola the entire time she prepared our food. We had a lamb gyro, chicken shawarma and chicken nuggets.. everything was great. Will definitely be back. Thanks Lola?“

“Hands-down best Fine Dining Italian Restaurant in Portsmouth. Perhaps the best Fine Dining Establishment Overall and our personal favorite. The food here is special. Much of it is Farm to Table using local ingredients and even the fresh flowers on the table are beautiful. The Carbonara has been elevated to almost mythical status and to be tried to believe with the fresh egg yolk nestled into the fresh tagliatelle, crispy guanciale, fresh peas and shaved truffles. The desserts are all spectacular as well, wine list has everything you want and the drinks are as elevated as the fare. They book out quick but worth the wait.“

“The very nice employee who put together our order was very cognizant of any allergen statements we made on our order and made sure to keep that in mind when we ordered the gf bun. But appearantly they have no vegan buns even for the bean patty (which is appearantly a vegan patty). The employee gets 5 stars for being so helpful, kind and aware for us. However it's frustrating that the seemingly vegan option has one thing non vegan and it isn't labeled as such for clarity (which is very easy to do) Especially since vegan food often isn't an allergen-centric food decision. The fact that there is no choice of vegan bun to accommodate a vegan patty seems extraordinarily lazy of the owner(s).Employee gets 5 starsLexies menu design gets 1 star“

“This was our first time at Green Elephant and we can't wait to go back! Finding a restaurant with lots of vegan options is difficult, so when we discover one and it's great, we get excited! We went for lunch, getting there right when they opened and by the time we left an hour and change later, they were completely full. We had an app, the king oyster mushroom tempura, a noodle curry, and a stir fry. All were amazing. The atmosphere was very nice as well. We didn't get any drinks, but they had a really creative cocktail menu - we'll be back for dinner and drinks next time!“

“We finally were able to get in here. Let me just say it was amazing. Everything was great. Dean our server was awesome. I would highly recommend going if you haven’t been. We had the lobster rangoons for the app. For dinner we had the Lazy lobster with Pillows. We can’t wait to go back. Now we understand why it’s hard to get in here. Make reservations in advance. Highly recommended. Thank you Phat Cat.“

“Cozy spot with a big selection of herbal tea and coffee. Their lunch menu was very extensive as well. Many people were working off their laptops while drinking a coffee or tea or enjoying a sandwich. This place is very kid friendly because many moms brought their kids inside for a bite to eat. “Finally placed a takeout order at Bob's having passed by it many times, and glad we tried it. Our order was ready on time as promised and was accurately put together. I tried a broiled quarter chicken with two sides (mac & cheese, sausage stuffing) and some corn bread. Everything seemed home made, hot and quite tasty. The stuffing really seemed home made, but the mac and cheese was a tad dry for my liking. The chicken was tender, moist and delicious. Like most food these days at any restaurant/supermarket, prices seemed a tad high. Portion sizes were generous however. I'll be back to try the chicken pot pie, which is one of my favorite comfort food dishes. Give Bob's a try! Sorry no photos as I dug in so quickly I forgot to snap first!“

“The Oak House is a fantastic Newmarket staple! It offers amazing food, wonderful service, and a great community atmosphere. Their menu has a wide selection but is largely just sandwiches/burgers.Kid-friendliness: They have a small kids menu and atmosphere is acceptable for kids. They can provide some crayons and pages to color if needed.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, this place has a wheelchair accessible entrance and wheelchair accessible seating.“
“Boyfriend and I, who are from out of town stumbled across this place today because their flag blew off in the wind as we were walking by so we brought it inside and were unexpectedly thanked with a treat from the super friendly staff. “This lovely restaurant is the kind of place that you celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other momentous occasions. The prices are high, but so are the quality of the food, drinks, service, and surroundings. We celebrated our daughter's master's degree completion at the Library, and it was memorable from start to finish. All of our food was either good or great.Note: you have to go down a flight of stairs to access restrooms. Amanda was an excellent server. If you want a good red wine that doesn't break the bank (by itself, anyway), the Valpolicella from the Veneto region of Italy was stellar.“
“My daughter used Jenny's Wedding Cakes for her wedding. Jenny was very accommodating and helped my daughter personalize her cake. The cake was beautiful. And it tasted amazing. At the end of the evening, there was none left. We would recommend Jenny's Wedding Cakes for your event.“

“Went here for our 56th anniversary Saturday night! This is the second time we’ve been here and not been able to order an entree because of the apps! We got PEI mussels and the calamari. My husband is a big eater but after drinks and these starters, we couldn’t eat another bite! Next time we are going to get one app to share and then hopefully have room enough for an entree! Service was great, drinks super! A cosmo and a dark and stormy. Will definitely be back again and again!“

“On a cold weekday, I decided to head to the Soupery to satiate a craving for chicken noodle. The location is wonderfully walkable if you work in downtown Portsmouth. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful when they ran out of the full amount of one ordered soup. My officemate and I traded bites and all the kinds we ordered were delicious and had that great homemade quality. Not much to say about ambiance because there's an ordering window and that's it! “We had a fantastic dinner. An extra bonus was watching the chefs cook, they were like an orchestra so coordinated. The sitting had 26 diners. The menu changes every week. We had bean soup, a choice of smoked salmon salad w potato or polenta with pork ragu, chicken with spinach or cod with carrots, beef with potato and red cabbage or pork and lentils, toffee pudding or funnel cake ( fried dough). “One of the absolute best breakfasts spots around. Food is consistently amazing. Great service. Often on a wait, but WELL worth it. Add yourself to the list & pop over to Good Juju or walk down to the boat launch and say hi to the town ducks while you're waiting. My personal favorites are the Down East French Toast - stuffed with maple walnut cream cheese and topped with my choice of fruit usually raspberries & the Dwight (insanely good) & lately the Green Chili Burrito - blueberry pancakes the perfect add on & the muffins!- grilled with butter of course. Homemade cinnamon swirl toast! Smoothies! Don't worry - you really cannot go wrong with any choice here.“

“We tried the prix fixe here during Portsmouth's Restaurant Week April 2024.The food was well presented and the flavors were pleasant but not particularly distinctive. The Boudin Blanc Meatballs in Pea Puree with Mimolette & pickled vegetables was our favorite. The service was adequate. The highlight of the experience was the cozy rustic ambiance & intimate atmosphere of the first floor dining room, right on the land-side of Ceres Street with a view of the Piscataqua River.“

“This is better than the usual Indian dive. The food is tasty, filling and not expensive. But the menu doesn’t deliver what it promises. The “roti” is identical to the naan. The “south Indian” spices are identical to the other curry spices. If this place served Masala Dosas, and made an effort to serve South Indian dishes, I’d give five stars.“
