“So happy to have found this Peruvian restaurant in my neighborhood. They have daily Menu specials which is great during lunch. You get so much, a meal, soup and a soda. Being a Peruvian myself, I have not been able to find a good pollo a la brasa place near me with that super flavorful skin and this place has it. Can't wait to try the rest of their food. During these crazy times we need to support our local businesses the most! Hope they thrive. Good luck to them!“
“I hated Lima beans, until I ate them at Contento. In fact, everything I ate there was perfection. My husband and I sat at the bar, which is exactly where I’d sit again. It’s cozy, comfortable and you can see some of the kitchen action as well as chat with fellow diners. The chef came out and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. But I have recommended the place to friends and the next time I’m in New York I look forward to going back.“
“Te amo Mission Ceviche! My Boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The entire staff treated me like a King! The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food is a gastronomical fantasy. Incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, truly mouth-watering meals. My Boyfriend is from Peru and he says Mission Ceviche is like coming home for him. He is practically obsessed with the two ceviche dishes (Mixto y Classico). For me it is the short ribs. O-M-G I don’t think I have EVER had a meal so memorable and incredibly delicious. To be honest my words do not do the deliciousness of this meal justice. Simply put...it is oh so good. The short rib is cooked to perfection and is so tender you can eat it with a spoon. The accompanying sides are the perfect compliment. The sauce that’s used...I hope they bottle it because I would buy vats of it! The rice with choclo is sublime. The tres leches rich, creamy and absolutely decadent. The food is amazing. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. The music is fiyah. The location is super convenient—a half a block to the subway and Crosstown bus. What really sets Mission Ceviche apart is the incredible Maitre’d Carlos. He treats all patrons the same...from babies in strollers to celebrities. He is so incredibly kind, humble, gracious, charming, intelligent, professional and inspiring. He is passionate and proud. It is awesome to see him keep the atmosphere ebullient and festive and the food flowing. He manages it all so effortlessly. I think it is because he honestly loves his chosen career and when you’re happy and you know it “work” is pure joy. That joy Carlos gives it to all of the Mission Ceviche patrons. This was not me and my Boyfriend’s first time dining at Mission Ceviche. We are now greeted by our first names when we arrive. Carlos is there and he has the biggest smile and we know that we are in great hands and know we will eat well. Every dining experience at Mission Ceviche is amazing! Go to this restaurant...make the reservation...you will not be disappointed...trust me! Bravo Carlos and the entire Mission Ceviche staff.“
“Everything was amazing!!! If you get one thing, get the artesano ceviche. I would honestly do a tasting menu of all ceviches. I also got the chicha morada mocktail, classic ceviche, scallop tiradito, amuse bouche, palette cleanser, corn dessert, and passion fruit sorbet. Make sure to get the cancha!!! Soooooo good!“
“we sat at the bar tonight (sunday). our server/bar tender danny was so knowledgeable of all the dishes and how to space out each corse. also made the best old fashioned— and we have a high standard for them. will 100% be coming back with our friends.“
“Incredible dinner here with really creative plates blending Japanese and Peruvian dishes & ingredients. I loved that each dish was unique and unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere, yet nothing was too out there and the flavors were familiar/comforting. Enjoyed the corn croquettes, the risotto with shrimp & uni and the pork katsu with pesto udon“
“On a bustling Saturday evening, we did an 8PM walk-in at Jora, opting to wait thirty minutes for a table over immediate seating at the bar. We commenced with three dishes: the Grilled Octopus, placed atop a Yukon mille-feuille; the Jalea, a crispy assortment of fish, shrimp, and squid, paired with yucca and salsa criolla; and the Lomo Saltado, sirloin stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and French fries. The addition of corn to two of the dishes provided a textural intrigue, with glutinous kernels complementing the octopus and semi-popped kernels the Jalea. The Lomo Saltado was just shy of too salty, prompting us to sip water liberally. Our meal concluded with the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, whose creamy tang atop a graham cracker crust helped balanced out the savory dishes. The service we received was cordial, the pricing of each dish was fair, and the appetizers and entree arrived in unison — ideal for larger dining groups. In summary, Jora offers an engaging dining experience with a palette-pleasing array of options, suitable for those who enjoy sharing a meal.“
“For an upscale vibe Peruvian place, this is the spot. Been here multiple times and the food is great with the downstairs vibes giving you upscale without needing to be all dressed up.The ceviche is a must get, as well as the jalea which is the fried seafood platter, Juanita’s chicken (very tender and not dry at all), as well as the lomo saltado (top pick for non-seafood ppl) which is the wok fried beef chunks and veggies. The prices are higher but the portions align with price paid in my opinion. Their green sauce is good and can be used on anything.Drinks were strong and tasty. Staff were friendly and bathroom was clean.“
“As a Peruvian I have been to a fair share of Peruvian restaurants and also recently to Peru as well but I have to say this place takes the crown for best chicken. The food is incredible and you can tell that everything is made in house. I absolutely loved the food as well as the experience and would personally like to thank the owners for making my friend and I feel at home. I will definitely be coming back with my family. Thank you!!!!!!!“
“On Sunday, March 17, I went with the family for the first time to celebrate my son Adrian's birthday, we had a great time, the food was great. I have worked for a long time at the Hirohisa Restaurant in Soho, which has had a Michelin star since 2017 and I found the Peruvian food excellent. (I am Peruvian). I recommend it. The lomo saltado is really filet mignon and cooked to perfection, delicious male corvina, spicy shrimp, chaufa rice with chicken and not to mention the pineapple pisco sour the best, etc.“
“Food amazing, staff amazing, hospitality amazing. Everything was very fresh, seafood cooked perfectly and the corn nuts are fun. Came with a large party and Tito took care of us, if you’re on the fence about dining here, you shouldn’t be.“
“Glad we found this place while searching for a lunch spot in Harlem. The service was super warm and friendly (¡gracias, Pablo!), and we can highly recommend the Lomo Saltado and the Arroz Chaufa Mariscos, which were both delicious. I've already bookmarked this place and will definitely be back to try some of the other things on the menu.“
“I had such a great time at Dora's Thursday happy hour. Great place to reunite with friends. Food was good, drinks well priced and the owner was a delight. My steak came out a little less red than I like but the flavor was delicious. One of my friends requested to add chicken to her pasta and the owner was happy to accommodate and my friend loved her dish.Vegetarian options: No meat Pasta, salad and vegetable dishes were on the menu .Dietary restrictions: There was enough of a variety for all to enjoy.Wheelchair accessibility: There was a gentleman in a wheelchair that appeared to be able to get around easily. Spacious dining area.“
“Great music, great atmosphere. We had a good service, they forgot one of us and the others had to wait for us to eat all at the same time… Food was delicious, drinks too. I feel it was maybe a little bit pricey, specially on the drinks side but we had a great moment and we could definitely go back anytime.“
“Mia was great first time coming to this spot and I enjoyed it, the mimosa was hitting ! Definitely a spot to come back tooVegetarian options: Good options for all food choicesParking: Weekend parking will be perfect or you can get on the meter“
“Well, the place is very nice, the service in general is very good, I recommend it 100%, it covers all expectations, greetings to inca paisa!!!! Katherine, Valentina and Sthephany very good serversParking: Very good, very reliableKid-friendliness: Of course the atmosphere is familiar“
“Came by for an early dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a little outside the busy main Astoria area. The outside looks very minimalistic you wouldn't know it's Peruvian just passing by. From the drinks to the entree, everything was tasty and portioned well although slightly on the pricier side. One cocktail, fruit drink, arepa small dish, ceviche mixto, and entree came out to $100 after tip.“
“Tasty Peruvian food in the neighborhood! Everything was seasoned well and balanced by the mild sweetness of chiacha morada we had as well. Really enjoyed the pasta, it was creamy but not heavy. And always a fan of Peruvian style chicken. Portions were also generous. Loved trying the lucuma ice cream and picarones for the first time too, ended up eating them together and the fresh warm picarones paired well with the cold ice cream. Flavors were great. Need to swing by for a weekday lunch at some point! Service was also super fast and helpful.“
“This is a small, but pleasantly presented BYOB restaurant - comfortable & welcoming. We had lomo saltado, tallerin saltado (seafood and the mixed beef & chicken), and tacu tacu bistek. All were delicious. Lots of fresh seafood, and chicken, and the beef was lean and tender. We tried the causa rellena (chicken) and causa de camarones for appetizers - tasty and refreshing. Everything was delicious, and service was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be going back.“
“This place surprised me brunch is a must here great music live dj great vibes awesome staff good drinks well priced brunch menu and drinks overall this place is solidVegetarian options: Definitely will be happy hereDietary restrictions: Yes they walk you through it all again manager and staff amazingParking: Parking is kind of hard but not really depending on the time for brunch street parking is definitely available in the area and Sundays meters are freeKid-friendliness: Yes and again the staff and management will make them and you feel at homeWheelchair accessibility: Yeah it’s wheelchair accessible and the staff is amazing“
“I live in West New York and I come with my family to taste delicious grilled chicken, the best is their fries. My kids love the Chaufa joint. Their portions are abundant and the food is very fresh. Pablo, always kind and helpful, takes great care of us.The owners are charming. Highly recommended.“
“This place is the best spot in uptown great food, beautiful eating area with an excellent service . I love this place since they open in our neighborhood is a family owned business that will exceed anyone's expectations if you can't afford traveling to Peru like me this restaurant is the closest thing to it. I highly recommend this place unbelievable Peruvian cuisine ceviche and lomo salteado taco Tuesday is a most . Affordable $$“
“This place is cute. It's small and cozy but plays really great music not only Spanish but English too Ans it's not even that annoyingly loud. The staff top tier, they're great and amazing they make sure you're okay within a reasonable time and they're like annoying about it. I only had appetizers and drinks and both was really good I can only imagine their food is as good as the apps. Overall experience was great I love it. It's a great place to go with friends to catch up or even with a partner to have dinner.“
“Last night I had the ABSOLUTE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE at this restaurant! Every bite was pure bliss! I would love to give specific recommendations, but I don't think you can go wrong here! By far and away, this is now my favorite restaurant in all of New York!“
“This is an amazing and underrated spot. Not only are the Ceviches authentically recreated, the star of the show, the Molkajete is one of the best Mexican grill showcases around. The Peruvian dishes like the Lomo saltado maybe be a bit untraditional in presentation but the flavor is to die for. I highly recommend you come, try the amazing food, and say hello to the wonderful owners.“
“I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the culinary wonders at our local deli, and I must say, it was a five-star delight from start to finish! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere immediately set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The friendly staff greeted me with genuine smiles and were more than happy to help me navigate through their extensive menu. The variety of options was impressive, catering to all tastes and preferences. Whether you're a fan of classic deli sandwiches, crave a hearty salad, or desire a comforting soup, this deli has it all. The ingredients were fresh, and the attention to detail in each dish truly stood out.I opted for one of their signature sandwiches, and it was a flavor explosion! The bread was perfectly toasted, and the fillings were generous and well-balanced. What impressed me the most was the quality of the meats and cheeses – a testament to the deli's commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. The side options were equally enticing, and I couldn't resist trying a few. The potato salad was creamy and flavorful, while the coleslaw added a refreshing crunch to my meal. It's evident that the chefs take pride in creating dishes that not only taste delicious but also showcase the artistry of deli cuisine. The service was prompt and attentive, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff's passion for the food they serve was evident in their recommendations and willingness to customize orders based on personal preferences. To top it all off, the dessert selection was a sweet revelation. I indulged in a delectable pastry that left me craving more. It's rare to find a deli that excels not only in savory options but also in the realm of desserts. In conclusion, this local deli has earned its five-star rating through a combination of exceptional food, welcoming ambiance, and outstanding service. Whether you're a regular looking for your go-to deli fix or a newcomer eager to explore a world of culinary delights, this establishment is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and savor more of their mouthwatering offerings!“
“Absolutely superb Peruvian food served by very nice folk. We had a trio of ceviche, a huge cauldron of chicken noodle soup (we took home a quart of leftovers. But the best was potatoes w/three cremas. The yellow was good, the red had a touch of spice, and the green was wonderfully earthy. We want to return with a group to explore more of the menu. The service was warm and caring.“
“Have been here a total of 3 times and it’s never a disappointment . Food is delicious and so well presented. If you want to give them a try would be great for lunch as lunch is 12.99 and they have so many delicious options that you cannot beat!!!“
“The food was amazing, I would love to call out Aries and Angela who were the cooks behind the amazing cuisines I got to try. As well as Joseph and Kathy who were amazing servers, they were so attentive and gave some of the best customer service. They are an excellent team, with some of the best personalities. Not only were they friendly and fun to converse with but they positive, and welcoming. It made the aura the best to have a meal in.“
“Absolutely fantastic, I've been meaning to come here for a year and finally did. Service was excellent, food was great, extremely quick, and very reasonably priced for LICTheir HH drink menu looked good too although I didn't partake“
“The food and service were excellent. The prices are affordable, they serve you the quantity and taste of their wonderful food. I went on a Saturday and they had live music. Good to enjoy with family, as a couple, with your friends or simply alone. A 10/10“
“Great authentic Peruvian food , the best ceviche that isn’t ridiculously overpriced in the city ! As a person who comes from South American background and grew up in Queens going to many Peruvian restaurants the flavor is definitely worth the trip to Essex Market in LES if you want an authentic ceviche mixto in Manhattan.“
“Must visit we had a great time and food was delicious, sure will be back to try other dishes. Fresh food ceviche, steak on point beer nice and cold. Prices very affordable. Keep up great service as well our waitress was very frendly and what i like the most she always came back and ask we were doing if we need anything else .. see you soon again“
“Came to this place today, Sunday, for early lunch with the family. Since we were the only customers at that moment, we knew that we would get our orders pretty fast and we were all hungry. The place looked great and food even better! Anticuchos and Jalea is what we ordered appetizers and the specials of the day, Baked Fish and Arroz de Mariscos were really delicious. The classic Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken could not be forgotten which was just as good. Definitely recommend this place. Wished I had my phone to show how great all our orders looked. We’ll be back whenever we are in the area for sure!!“
“The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great, the music is just enough to enjoy the dishes of Peruvian food, which in my opinion is one of the best. The waitress Claudia was very attentive, very friendly 10/10 highly recommended, thank you Lima for giving us this incredible experience.“
“A splendid place to eat with your family. The food here is filling as well as being well prepared, food can take as long as 15-30 minutes to complete on a busy day but the wait is worth it. The service is equally as great as the cousine. I would highly recommend anyone to come “
“Outstanding. This establishment is a perfect embodiment of a simple place that serves incredible food. Forget about the fancy chairs, seats and decor...none of that here (the wall tapestry is actually amazing...though)... It's food packed with intelligent flavor, genuine spirit and love. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd go here any day over the millions of 'fancy' restaurants that look great, but have absolutely no soul, are generously rude to customers and serve insipid food. Do yourself a favor and take the train, car, whatever you need to do...to get here!“
“Fantastic food and service! I originally tried to order on Uber Eats and the restaurant website online for delivery, but neither would allow me. I finally called the restaurant who graciously offered to deliver to Astoria without hesitation, on a snowstorm day (of course I added tip to my order, that was incredibly kind). The food arrived with a very kind gentleman, and it was absolutely delicious! Very happy with this place - will definitely be back :) ..thank you so much!“
“Went here on a Sunday, service was top notch, there also wasn't many people. The Waiter was very nice, helpful, and energetic. The food was very delicious! The Arroz Chaufa, Grilled Chicken, and Fries that my family ordered were the best of the best. If I could give this Restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. Definitely Recommend for anyone trying to look for delicious food!Kid-friendliness: Atmosphere is very calm and of the many times I've visited this Restaurant, I always see a family or two dining.Wheelchair accessibility: At the Door Entrance, there is a ramp accessible for People in Wheelchairs.“
“Started with two empanadas, then shared a half roasted chicken and four sides between two people - more than enough food. Chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the rice and beans were a nice complement. Yucca and plantains weren't so great, probably wouldn't order again and would instead opt for the avocado salad next time. My friend loved the signature green sauce - waitress was friendly and packed him some extra with the leftovers. Decent food at decent price!“
“Cute spot. I went for happy hour on a Monday. Everything my friends and I had was delicious! We had the Guac and chips, Arepita Sliders, Chicken Taquitos, the Salmon entree, and the chicken entree. The drinks were great too. I had a strawberry and mango non-alcoholic mojito. My friends the coconut, passion fruit, and blackberry mojitos. They said theirs were nice and strong too. My friend also ordered the tres le he cake and said that it was delicious! I would def go back!“
“You have to come to this place! “First time trying Peruvian food and it didnt fail me ❤️We ordered , lomo saltado , jalea and cevichewhen the food arrived ,our expectations continue to be exceeded.Every bit of our meal was scrumptiously satisfyingThe lomo saltado was cooked perfectly and the flavor tantalizes my tastebuds .Jalea contained abundant seafood that was almost too good to stop eating whileCeviche was also in generous portion , there was a perfect balance of fish and other fresh ingredients and spice ..i love mine extra picanteOver all the food and service was superb !!!Will definitely come back !“
“It is a small place but very cozy, it has a wide Colombian menu, I ordered the tripe and I really liked it, they have a menu for children, do not miss this experience since it is not a spicy food Low in salt, the rice has that garlic flavor and onion reminds us of the homemade “
“Never had Chinese Peruvian food before so was very intrigued. Came on a weekday night and was surprised that the store was packed. Was able to get seated quickly and they allowed us (2 people) to sit at a 4 person table which was very nice of them. - Complimentary Bread - I don't know what they put in this bread, but I was a huge fan. The bread was so soft and hot... and with the butter, it was just perfection. I also loved the crust as it was very flaky and crisp. I could just eat this as a whole meal and be happy. - Lomo Saltado (Beef) - I was not a big fan of the fried rice on the side but this was one of the best Lomo Saltado I've had in the city. The tomatoes and onions were cooked to perfection as they were very soft and packed with flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef was also very tender but crispy at the same time. - Chinese Style Squid Fried Rice - Not a big fan. Feel like there was a strong oily after-taste like the fried rice in the Lomo Saltado. I did appreciate how many ingredients there were, but it didn't feel very appetizing. Overall, would just recommend the bread and the Lomo Saltado if you do come here. Also, I have to say that it's refreshing to watch all the servers play around, it made me very happy to know that they all are great friends with one another.“
“Great restaurant and atmosphere, the food was very delicious and to its perfection. Abel our waiter was so welcoming and very professional. He gave us options in regards to menu options and would highly recommend to anyone around the area. Will definetely come back for the food and drinks ?“

“Humble place, but don't let it fool you. This is the BEST PERUVIAN FOOD I've tried in the area and I'm a big fan of Peruvian food,This is the best food so far, fresh and tasty made with loveAmazing lomo saltado, the Ceviche was very fresh, and the seafood soup was “
“Service was very polite and fast, food was fresh and tasty as well as plentiful. We had leftovers. We also got a discount for paying cash.Vegetarian options: They have Beans, Waterdress, Salads.Wheelchair accessibility: Walkin entrance no stairs.“
“I’ve been coming to El Sombrero for years. The food has been very consistent and my Mexican and Peruvian friends love this place. I have come here as well as taking it to go. We don’t even live nearby, but we like it so much, that we drive half an hour to eat here. I’ve brought friends from all over the world to eat this ceviche. That said, tonight was a bit different. We were served by Miriam (according to the receipt). She was not only rude, she would roll her eyes every time we asked for something.I usually run into the sweet lady who’s always there who seems to be a manager or one of the owners, not sure. But I would have loved it if she was there so she could have a conversation with this girl.I’m definitely gonna be coming back, but I’m gonna wish that that girl is not our server next time“
