“This place is amazing. We’ve been here twice already for lunch and loved the experience. The server was very attentive and welcoming. The food was just delicious, with the perfect portions and sides. We had the chicken shish kebab, salmon with house salad, and humus. All 10/10. Overall the staff is so friendly and customer service minded, the establishment was clean and fun, the food is good, and you can tell there is a lot of heart and soul in this place. I will review everything we ate according to my personal preference but if you don’t want to read the whole thing, all you need to know is you should definitely come check it out!!We ordered 5 garlic knot sliders, one loaded fries, stuffed garlic knots, pizza with a garlic knot crust, one of their signature sandwiches, and their own brand of sodas.Let’s start with the garlic, there is a lot of it, as there should be. It was the raw, pungent, slightly spicy garlic in oil appropriately put on everything as advertised. I like that. But it was a lot and I missed that subtle garlic infusion of some kind of cooked garlic that provides a softer balance as an accompaniment to the raw. It was delicious though as is and the flavor just stays with you in such a nice way.Sliders- we got Chicken Bacon Ranch, out of this world, Eggplant Parm, not my favorite but I’m picky about my eggplant parm, Shrimp Parm, coming back for this one it was phenomenal, Chicken Vodka, ok but I didn’t really taste the vodka sauce, and Phill Cheese, also very good. The eggplant I think may have been flour instead of breading (normal differences in preparation) and I prefer breading so I felt like this was just a personal miss on flavor. The garlic know slider bread was so nice and airy and soft. The chicken vodka just got overpowered by the garlic so it was not my favorite. Really enjoyed the tasting experience though.Stuffed garlic knots - we got Peperoni and they were really good. Dipped in marinara, just what you would expect, cheesy, garlicky, goodness.Loaded fries - These are really loaded up. We got pulled pork and the pork was super flavorful. My daughter felt like there could be more cheese but I honestly thought it was a good ratio. Fries were solid; standard, string fries. Overall very yummy dish.Pizza - we got a plain cheese pizza with a garlic knot crust. Very creative. Very cool. The pizza itself was a little too doughy for my taste, I like a thinner crust, but I am sure if I had asked for it as a preference they would have accommodated. The garlic know crust was good. Again, lots of garlic, just as you would anticipate. I enjoyed the crust.Signature sandwich - we got “the insider” which was Philly cheesesteak like but with their own sauce that really made a difference. Now here you can opt to have the garlic and oil on top or not. We opted in as this was what we came for. I would probably order it on the side next time. The sandwich was out of this world though. Super tenderSteak, pepper and onions, that yummy sauce, oozy cheese, and the bread was very fresh, soft, airy. I would definitely order this again.Soda - they have their own brand of bottled soda there and the black cherry was so good we ordered two more to go.I wanted to try a milkshake but was much too full at the end of the meal so we will definitely have to go back for that. “I've been here a couple times for different things, a drink, a night out, and a couple showers. The place is perfect for a smaller shower. They have a buffet option that allows for a brunch option. Their food is delicious, especially their breakfast potato & onion option. They also have waffles, fresh made pancakes and omelets, pasta, chicken, a carving station, and more. Would recommend hosting something here but again, it's limited spacing.“

“One of our favorite restaurants! The food is incredibly flavorful, and everyone from the owner to the greeter to the waiters are a pleasure to talk with, making the experience that much better. It can get a bit noisy, but the tables are spaced so you're not right on top of your neighbor. Suggestions- Apps- Malfatti, Polpette, Cauliflower Sformatino Main- Spinach & Roasted Garlic Risotto, Cherry Braised Short Ribs, Sunday Gravy, Braised Veal Cheek. Dessert- Beignets, Carrot Cake These are our favorites, but I've heard no complaints about any dishes.“

“My wife and I have dined at the Saddle River Inn many times. The food and service is outstanding. Last night we had crab cake and agnolotti with white truffle cream sauce as appetizers. They were both delicious! I enjoyed the Long Island Duck with lo mein, bok choy, shiitake, scallion, crispy rice, orange hoisin sauce as my entre'e. My wife had a pork chop filet special. While she enjoyed the combination of flavors in the dish, the pork was very "chewy". When she mentioned it to our server, he said that he was aware of it. He said that it was a new dish and had to be "tweaked". He offered to replace her meal but she declined. We shared strawberry cheese cake for desert, which was excellent. Without asking, the cost of my wife's entree was taken off our bill. We were pleasantly surprised by this gracious gesture, and plan to be back soon.“

After my ginger salad, she brought me Tuna Tataki, which was perfectly prepared and had a touch of smokiness. I couldn’t decide between Seared Salmon Sushi or the River Roll, so I ordered both. It was the best decision ever! The salmon was freshly prepared and melted in my mouth. The Spicy Tuna was delicious and had just a touch of kick, which complimented the richness of the fish. “I don't do very many google reviews, but wanted to share my experience at Madison Cafe today. I looked online and ordered a dish for take-out, noting the price of $10 on the menu I looked at. When I got there, a very pleasant guy gave me my order and charged me almost $19. I paid him first, then pointed out my concern about the price discrepancy, and was told that what I saw was a very old menu that was no longer valid. I said that the cafe should honor the price they display to the public on their website and it shouldn't be an issue for the customer if the wrong price is displayed, and asked to have the difference in price reimbursed to me. Understandably, he was not in a position to make that decision, so he called the owner, and after describing the situation put me on the phone with him. He precisely explained this issue that comes up with people taking pictures of menus and putting them on google in a way that is not "authorized" by the cafe, and that they've tried to get google to remove stuff like that, but to no avail. It's understandable how challenging this is for the business owner, and I agreed with the owner's comments about the pricing glitch. Making the decision to keep his customers happy, this fair-minded business owner said that my meal was on the house. He didn't have to do that-I was only asking for the difference to be returned to me, so kudos to this gentleman for his consideration, and I'll certainly patronize his establishment again. Thank you, sir for your gesture. BTW, the food was great!“

“We are huge fans of Peter Kelly's, but the little things need to be improved. We've gone to Kelly's places since the 90's, and are big believers, and X2O's lunch used to be the best buy in town. Like everything else the price has climbed, and it is no longer a great bargain, but it is still worth every penny at $36. The lunch menu has expanded, and even though we miss the risottos, the selection is ample, and the specials are terrific. What caused the rating to drop from five to four stars are two simple but vital things - the bread, which used to be a highlight, was very mediocre, and the coffee was weak, unusual for X2O. The food was spectacular, but the little things need to return to their usual high level.“

When we walked in, we were given the option to choose our own table and the staff kindly dimmed the bright lights for a more comfortable atmosphere. Although only two visible workers on duty, they were incredibly kind and patient, despite our longer waiting time for food. “When you travel, you seek to find outstanding restaurants. Sometimes you win, other times, you don't. The Hudson House is a great find, a winner at every turn! From our initial greeting by the owner, Matt, to the great staff who didn't miss a beat, to the most critical part, the food, there wasn't a moment of regret. We started with a couple of tables shares. We had cheese plate with 3 cheeses, homemade fig jam to die for, fresh thinly sliced honeycrisp apples, delicious grapes, and an oil-infused crustini. Perfect start, followed by the burrata and pumpkin seed salad with carmelized pears and sweet potato chunks. I didn't think it could get better after this. I tried the sweet potato and fennel soup, very warm and hearty on a cold night, and the taste was just as I hoped! A beet and farro salad with radishes hit the mark! My partner had a fresh halibut that was cooked to perfection, served on ramen noodles and baby bok choy, with an array of fresh mushrooms, with a gentle but flavorful broth, but not enough to be called soup. To me, one of the best fish dishes I've tasted in a long time. Our guests, the wedding couple, ordered duck breast confit, and hanger steak. The duck, one of her favorites, was tender, most, cooked properly and seasoned well. It was a hit with her and her mother. The hanger steak was the choice of the groom, a very picky eater. He couldn't stop reaching about how amazing it was! Sadly, we were so full, we couldn't eat dessert. All the desserts are homemade by the owner, and they sounded unbelievable. But I'll have to return another time to speak to them. Finally, ask to sit in the jail cell. The pictures tell only some of the story. It's a wine cellar, a hidden romantic getaway, a reprise of days long gone. Or have a seat at the bar with the locals. Or just come and see the beautiful tin ceiling and walls. No matter what you do here, you won't be disappointed.“

I was hoping for a cappuccino but the machine looked like it was out of use so I got a black coffee -- not bad. What was great was the apple tart: lots of juicy apples, delicious crème patissiere, and a laminated crust. The pastries are HUGE -- the apple slice was more than enough for both of us. They have a small selection of macarons, which we didn't try, and a lot of other pastries (no eclairs, alas). Plus it seems to be a family owned business. I would definitely go back.“
