“I cannot say enough about this exceptional restaurant. I have been following the chef for some time and finally was able to get a reservation for my anniversary. The location is in the middle of Lincoln Center and was beyond gorgeous to compliment this equally elegant restaurant. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by friendly staff who were immediately attentive and responsive and didn't feel pretentious or stuffy. I started at the bar and enjoyed two cocktails while I waited for my plus 1. The drinks were fantastic. By the way, I am a mixologist who travels to exceptional cocktail bars. This place had drinks that stood out. They were refreshing, while spirited and tasty. The nut cracker was not too boozy, but a delightful game changer like I have never had before (I usually hate this drink made by other establishments). Then, once we were seated, we ordered a medley of dishes from the Hamachi Eschovitch, to the Oxtail and Crab Rangoon and the Egusi Dumplings to start. Everything we ordered was eclectic, unique and truly melted in your mouth. Some items had a bit of a kick, but nothing overwhelming (except for the side sauce provided - beware). Then, for dinner, we enjoyed the Sofrito Roasted Chicken which was perfectly cooked, juicy and had an assortment of flavors and reminders of my childhood (just like grandma made). We also ordered Mom's Shrimp Dish which was another award winning dish. For dessert, we ended the meal with the rum cake. Spectacular! I highly recommend this phenomenal restaurant for a unique and exceptional culinary experience. Kudos to Kwame and wishing you much success.Parking: Parking is expensive. Take the train instead or a taxi. Both more affordable options.“
“I really liked the roti appetizer. Such a nice remix. A bit too much cheese but really tasty. Mac n cheese was really good too. Please make your music mixed better. Soca mix preferred. Random songs jumping felt weird. Live music is a good idea but automated Playlist with odd songs killed the vibe. Eg. Ducking followed by Everything but the girl“
“Was there last night celebrating a friend’s birthday and we all had a time. The food was amazing, the music was fantastic, and the owner is the sweetest. The restaurant is fairly new so, when you walk in please be patient. It’s only the owner and one other woman working there at the moment, but I promise the wait is worth it! Sasha makes you feel a part of the community the moment you step foot inside her restaurant. You just have to be there to understand!“
“The flavors at this cozy eatery were fantastic! We savored the curry goat and peppered steak– a definite must-visit spot. Miss Jennifer, our gracious host, exuded politeness, charm, and joy. Oh, and the red peas soup? It was vibrant, flavorful, and had a delightful coconut twist.“
“Never been a fan of this chain but decided to stop by at this one today and I’m so glad I did! The staff was phenomenal and so helpful with me coming with a special needs kid in a stroller and the food was off the charts good! I’ll definitely be back at this location again ?“
“I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! Not only do they have two other rooms downstairs, but I did not expect live music! The plantain appetizer was very good along with the salmon dish, which comes with some shrimp. I have the old-fashioned rum drink which hit the spot. I highly recommend this place to sit inside and enjoy the ambience.“
“Jasmine's was such a beautiful experience, and the food was great. We are visiting from Florida, and my husband loves Jamaican and Caribbean food. We footed it to this restaurant and was greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us at a high top table. Great ambiance, adult beverages were on point (I ordered the rum punch), and our dishes were delicious. I ordered the Veggie Cook Up, and my husband ordered the Curry Chicken. We are still in town, so I am trying to see how we can return before we leave! Thanks so much!Vegetarian options: Clearly Indicated on their menu“
“I had the pargo Frito Entero con arroz moro. That was fantastic!!! My friend ordered the Tostones Montaditos con churrasco, Bistec Empanizado con arroz blanco y habichuelas negra.Let’s get into the details the fried fish with the arroz morro was great they delivered! I also ordered the drink death by coconut, and after exactly four sips it was done There was barely any coconut, ?and you could barely taste the alcohol that was in there, so they missed the mark on that. The Tostones were just OK. The meat could’ve been seasoned a little bit more. It was literally Tostones and cut single pieces of meat on top with a chimichurri type of sauce in the middle that needed a little bit more acidity, because it was just oily. Be aware they do cut the tostones in half ?Definitely order the black beans because they were awesome. Do not I repeat do not order the bistec Unless you want to waste your money, see photo evidence. It looks like they took a piece of skirt steak and sliced it in half then added breading and fried it. They get points for breading it was seasoned however, you can see that it immediately slipped off the steak, and the steak was nonexistent. I did give this high points because not everything was bad and the service was amazing and so was the atmosphere. I would not mind going back, To try other things on the menu.Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of families dining with kids. Kids menu available and served in cute retro car serve ware.“
“Fun restaurants rarely have good food anymore - but my goodness. A blast of a night with rounds of jerk chicken. The cod fritters were delicious, the rum punch kept me going all night. I'm not an avid fan of mac and cheese but I could eat this one every day, enjoying it more and more each time. Loved the music, too.“
“This will be one of my go-to spots for Caribbean food when I want some Jerk. It is take out only. I went for lunch on a Wednesday. It wasn't crowded. I waited about 10 minutes for my order after ordering. They offer jerk everything in boxes that are small, medium, and large. I think the price is decent for the amount of food received. I ordered the jerk chicken and rasta pasta. The jerk chicken was flavorful and seasoned well. The rasta pasta is not your typical rasta pasta, but it was still very good. Their rasta pasta is seasoned well, and the sauce is an original coconut flavor.OAN They've been in business for a year and defined to begin to keep their frig full of beverages. There were no beverages available for my meal.Update: I had to edit and take away a star for food. Although the chicken is flavorful, I don't like having to pluck chicken hairs off my chicken. It makes me question if they clean the chicken before it's cooked“
“We held the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding at Palo Santo on 3/15/2024. The food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. Everyone in attendance raved about this place. Even though we had never been here before, the staff at Palo Santo made planning this event from Texas a piece of cake. We cannot recommend Palo Santo more highly.“
“We tried the pabellón criollos (traditional Venezuelan breakfast) and pan con bistec guaro (Venezuelan steak sandwich), as well as the agua fresca de flor de Jamaica (Costa Rican sorrel wine, non alcoholic). Great dishes with a warm brunch ambiance.“
“I drove (from Atlantic City) to this restaurant yesterday because of the reviews. They have parking in the back. Tasha, (Im assuming that is her name because people do name restaurants after other people) her husband and her son were very friendly. She had a beautiful personality. I ordered catfish, mac & cheese, corn bread and collard greens. Everything was delicious. The corn bread was like no other. I will definitely be back. DEFINITELY A PLACE TO VISIT.“
“The Owner and Staff were so Kind, helpful and welcoming. The most welcomed I’ve ever felt in any restaurant! Ever. The Location is spotless clean, and you walk in and the smell of fresh Grilled Jerk Chickenhits you instantly.I Had the Oxtail meal as well as the Jerk wings! Both were so good!! & fresh! The jerk wings were Crispy and sauced very well! I also purchased a homemade strawberry Ginger drink, that was amazing as well. This was my first time, but I’ll definitely be back, the entire experience of this restaurant is just that! An amazing experience, even for takeout! You’re treated with kindness and so much gratitude. You will not be disappointed by this place.“
“Best PR food in Teaneck! I had a request for Arroz Mamposteao…if you know you know :-) and the owner delivered. It was para chaparse los dedos (finger licking good). Definitely, this is my to go place when I don’t want to cook PR food at home. The pernil, alcapurrias, tostones, and beans are delicious.“
“Tried Stella’s for the first time recently to celebrate a few friends and showed up a little before closing. The atmosphere and staff were so welcoming and cozy. They did not make us feel rushed and the food was amazing. They also have a speakeasy that was closed at the time but they let us check it out. We will definitely be back! Has joined my favorite Resturant list.“
“I live walking distance from Bekka’s. When she first opened we had some jerk chicken and oxtail. It was okay but not great. However, this morning I had the ackee and salt fish with banana and yam, and it’s the best I ever had. I grew up in East Orange and have been to various Caribbean restaurants and this was the best Jamaican breakfast ever!“
“The food is very cheap, you have some very decent sandwiches at $20 $30 and a sandwich menu with extras starts at 8 euros, and you are extremely satisfied, the treatment is good and pleasant, they try to have a menu of varied drinks for for all tastes.“
“Wonderful Portions for the ONLY $11 Small Tray... I Think I Was Given About 5 Pieces of Stew Chicken... Which Thier Stew Chicken Is Different By the Sauce Being Thicker and Darker... Open 24 Hours ONLY Carribean Spot Around the Way To Do So...“
“2/6/2023. Had a taste for a patty and coco bread and this was the closest place to me and there was good reviews. I got a chicken patty because it wasn't spicy and it was $3.00 the coco bread was $1.00. The beard to the patty was nice and flacky but wasn't falling all over the place it had a decent amount of filling and the coco bread had a nice fresh taste to it, the only issue I have was I tasted more of the coco bread and the outside of the patty more than I tasted the filling of the patty there wasn't much flavor to it.“
“SO GOOD AND DELICIOUS ? I’m so glad to have met fellow Montclair State University alum Andrew Barley who told me about his restaurant. I said I would come try it out and I’m not the least bit disappointed and neither will you be anything but fully satisfied. I can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu which means I will be back A WHOLE LOT! Whether you are vegan/vegetarian or just love good food look no further for THE BEST Caribbean and flavorful dishes in Essex County, New Jersey?️??—————Sidebar?Be prepared for possible parking delays depending on what day/time you decide to come✅And so nice to have met Tessa and Mama Barley???“
“It is my first time at Bonfire and I can assure you that it will not be the last.I loved everything, the atmosphere, the attention and especially the person who assisted me (Lola). She was super attentive and had the best attitude a person can have.Thank God ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“
“Tried the viral oxtail grilled cheese. It was pretty good but not amazing in my opinion. The amount of oxtail they give is good, but wish there was more cheese. I got to try some pieces of the organic lavender chicken, forbidden rice and Mac & cheese. With the sauces they have, the chicken is elevated a lot , the forbidden rice is very tasty, and the Mac and cheese is overall pretty good. The food came out pretty fast and it is nice to see the food being prepared before you. I don’t live near Brooklyn so I wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again, but if I’m ever in the area, I’d definitely have it again.“
“Nice mix of Hispanic food, very delicious mangu, definitely one of the best I've tried in the area. El pernil and arroz morro is so good and balanced seasoning. Food was ready and recently cooked, the staff very friendly service. The owner was constantly checking to see we were well attended. Will be coming back to try more on the menu. Uber Eats and Door Dash and GrubHub available ????.“
“Great food. Try the Doubles which are unbelievable, roti skin with curry (Curry Mango is something you never see anywhere) and get the tamarind based sauce. They have a large selections of unique sodas. The mother and daughter at the store were friendly. This place is better for take out or smaller group if dining in.Kid-friendliness: The daughter asked my son about his age and chatted with him so they are caring towards children.“
“A very special place of warmth and true Jamaican hospitality in NYC. I have hosted several events here (3 cooking classes for students and a special pre-wedding fun "game night" party) and everyone loves generous-hearted Chef Mom, the delicious food she prepares and the wide open welcoming space. What a treat to have this gem in the middle of the city.“
“I've worked pretty close to this spot for yrs and never knew it existed (rarely take Broadway), my crew and I are working a job right up the street and decided to check it out. I've tried pollo guisado, carne guisado and of course pernil (I'd eat it everyday of my life if I could) and ea dish was outta this world. Empanadas, chicharron and maduro are all excellent too! The staff is always friendly, the food is always fresh/delicious/hot and the prices are more than fair. Once again...mom/pop spots reign supreme!!“
“NegrilBK has become a favorite of mine and I enjoy bringing friends who are visiting to the restaurant for the fun experience that is the restaurant. I took two friends for their first experience and they were practically licking the plate clean. The drinks (frozen rum punch!) are always well made and very strong. The mac and cheese is some of the best in Brooklyn! You really cant go wrong with many of the food choices. There is often a DJ but the music is never overbearing that you cant enjoy conversation. The staff are always friendly and remember your face. 10/10Parking: Busy 5th avenue in Brooklyn. Side streets have some parking available based on time.“
“I was craving some oxtails and ran into this place on google and I tried it out the two ladies were friendly and they pack the container very well .I had gotten oxtail with rice and peas and Mac and cheese.Oxtail was very tasty but seasonedRice and peas was very good as wellMac and cheese was delicious and perfect texture for me .I had also gotten a cheesecake and banana pudding.Cheese cake was deliciousNot really a fan of Banana pudding but this one was good too.“
“I tried the coco bread, oxtail patty, Shrimp patty, Ackee and selfish patty and the vegetable patty. Lisa was so warm and friendly. The patties were so good and the coco bread is soft and perfect. The patty and coco bread reminded me of Jamaica. I really enjoyed the patties. Make sure you guys go and check this place out!“
“This place is a best-kept secret. I ordered a huge catered order for a poker night to feed a dozen (hungry!) people on fairly short notice, and Dawn and the team not only came through with plenty of time to spare… but had people asking that I order from the same place again. The curried goat in particular was bananas! Cannot recommend it highly enough.“
“Royal Taste Restaurant offers an explosive Jamaican culinary experience. The jerk chicken, boasting an authenticity level of 876%, delivers a flavorful punch. The curry goat mesmerizes with its aromatic buzz and rich taste, while the oxtail seals the deal on satisfaction. The well-executed fried chicken adds another layer of delight. With an extensive menu, this spot promises a continued journey of delectable discoveries. A must-visit for those craving an authentic taste of Jamaican cuisine.“
“I literally just ordered from here; the diri djoun djoun with fried chicken and a side of macaroni au gratin…. They also gave a fresh side green salad. Out of the whole meal my favs were the fried chicken(well down like I like it) the diri djoun djoun was bomb!!! And the salad was soooo fresh and delicious. TO ME AND I SAY TO ME cause everyone’s taste buds are different I didn’t like the macaroni au gratin too much cause one it had ground beef or turkey in it hard to tell being that it was well marinated into the macaroni au gratin and also in my opinion it was a lil dry (once again this is my opinion cause some might find it to be just right, whereas I like that oily and fattening macaroni au gratin taste). But do not not order it guys cause your guys may choose to differ when it comes to the macaroni au gratin. But other than that I enjoyed the food. Been a while since I had haiatian food that actually taste like Haitian food. Oh ye the ambiance is to die for fancy and upscale AF!!!! Definitely got themselves a loyal customer! ♥️“
“The neighborhood is a little sketchy and the lady is rude but they have great food and the guy that works there is professional and kind.Vegetarian options: The have vegetable patties and spinach patties that are good.Parking: The location isn't the best as far as safety goes so getting a park as close as possible to the establishment is best but it's a busy street and area so that may be difficult.“
“Authentic West African food and delicious. This is a rare find in Bergen County plus there's a market next door that also has Caribbean and West African items you'd have to go to NYC to find or farther out in New Jersey. Prices are affordable too.To be frank, I know the owners and they built the market and restaurant they'd want for themselves. What I can tell you is that they've succeeded brilliantly.“
“We came for the Mofongo and got surprised by the Yuca appetizer, it tasted amazingThe mofongo was very flavorful too!One of the best Dominican spots, recommend to check it out. The food tastes like it belongs at a very upscale restaurant in Manhattan.“
“We showed up on a Monday night, unaware that they close at 8:30. But Leo totally took care of us. The steam trays out front were almost empty, but he asked us what we like, and he pulled a few delicious dishes together. Beef stew was tender and flavorful. Grilled shrimp with avocado and rice was perfect. Love that seasoning. And the fried chicken for my son was super delicious (I snuck a bite). Thank you Leo, we were very satisfied!!Kid-friendliness: My 10 year old ordered fried chicken with steamed rice and he loved it!“
“We drove 40 mns to Bon Appétit Caribbean on a Saturday afternoon. I was not disappointed!Great customer service. The food was fresh, super delicious, i ordered a large duri Djondjon with chicken, they gave me enough food to feed 2 people. The macaroni salad was great, duri djondjon was awesome, and the chicken was well seasoned. The next day i went, i got again a large duri Djondjon and fried turkey, Once again, everything was DELICIOUS. If you're in Irvington or close by, this is one spot that I'd definitely recommend! They have REAL SEASONED HAITIAN FOOD“
“I absolutely love this food I come from Brookyln to go to b&b i love everything they make it’s fresh and made with love I’ve never had a complaint about ANYTHING I can never go in that place and get one meal I eat a meal there and then I pack one for home and for work so I happily spend about $60-$70 and be very satisfied very omg I want some nowwwwwww!!!!!“
“Hopefully rabid mobs won't do a "French Laundry" attack on my hypocrisy for sometimes avoiding places that have 3 stars yet saying the consensus is wrong on Masha & Harry's. (Minor annoying note - if you type in Taste of the Caribbean, its formal name on Uber Eats, Yelp search doesn't show it...which will be my excuse when defending the subpar page views of this post). The chicken curry from a previous order was good, maybe not better than Flatbush but I haven't been to Flatbush in forever. The revelation was today's order of doubles and bake and salt fish. For the doubles, you'll want to check the boxes for the pepper and tamarind sauces. One negative review complains about the amount of salt fish in the bake. I thought this was a brilliant sandwich. The cabbage and other vegetable items indeed have more surface area but everything was in harmony. I'll remind you that Hannibal Lecter was only in The Silence Of The Lambs for 16 minutes.“
“This is the newest Jaincan spot I’ve tried since year. And as a true jamaican, it’s a 10/10. Everything prepared here is delicious and fresh. The chef puts life in all the dishes. They serve real jamaican breakfast every morning. They even switch it up for lunch and dinner. All types of authentic foods. You will have many options aside from rice & peace and chicken. My favorite things that’s always a hit is the porridge, soup of the day and fish. Oh and they have the BEST oxtails!! I could eat here every single day. The price no bad either“
“This was an absolutely wonderful experience, top to bottom! I was initially concerned because the doors were closed, but thru the glass, I saw an employee who waved at me. ? Feeling welcomed, I climbed the stairs and she sat me in the upper level where it was warm, cute and quaint. I sat and the soft reggae music filled my ears, as my waiter (Jermaine?) approached. He was a very kind gentle soul. I ordered the ginger tea which was THE best ginger tea I've ever had! I then ordered the cornbread w/guava butter and the spring rolls... absolutely delicious! I'm not a meat eater, but I ordered the oxtails to go for family, and they were cleaned off the bone, so I take it they were delicious too! ? This is definitely a gem in NYC next to NYU, and this California girl left fulfilled, top to bottom! I will DEFINITELY visit again whenever I'm in New York! Thanks for the experience!Vegetarian options: I ordered the spring rolls and cornbread. I didn't see a lot of options, nor did I ask, but it's worth the visit for even just those two items!Wheelchair accessibility: I had to access stairs to enter the restaurant. I didn't see an elevator, but I didn't ask if there was one either.“
“This was our second time having dinner there. We had a great dining experience the first time which caused us to celebrate our wedding anniversary the second visit. They sat us in the same booth from our original visit which gave us the same server. She was excellent the first time as well as the second. The food was wonderful and the executive chef came out and introduced himself to us (nice touch). We plan on taking some friends with us the next time we go. Nice job Coco's!“
“I always get their callaloo meal here with their sides. Their festivals are excellent, I’m a veggieT so I don’t eat their meats, but the seasonings and preparations are always on point. Can always count on mi island folks to keep me full & satisfied lol“
“I work right in front of tropical and I love coming here all the time! The staff are super friendly and helpful (shout out to Eulise) he makes sure to go above and beyond. Not only that but their smoothies and drinks are so good!! We definitely recommend coming here!!“
“I must stress this to you as soon as you enter. The proprietor is really friendly! I neglected to order the stew chicken, but I did order the jerk, oxtail, and beef patties. You will not be let down! Your eyes will roll to the back of your head due to the sweetness and tenderness of the meats ???? soooo amazing!!!!!! Once more, go here if you want to enjoy excellent flavor and customer service!!!!!!“
“My partner and I decided to try this place based on the reviews and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! We ordered the large jerk chicken meal, macaroni and cheese, and small chicken soup! This is a hole in the wall spot! Our food was DELICIOUS! I will 100% be ordering again but a LARGE chicken soup. The soup had so much flavor and the chicken just slipped off the bone! The mac also had so much flavor and was so good! The jerk chicken was a bit spicy for me but I don’t have a high tolerance to spice. My partner said it was good! He couldn’t decide what part was his favorite and said he would go back again! The service was great! Next time you get gas, help yourself to some hearty, home cooked Jamaican food!!“
“I like this place. They have good pernil. I like ordering the mini bc it's just enough food. They lose one star because they give A LOT of rice to fill the dish when they can be giving more plantains or vegs. I see that they're stingy when it comes to giving more plantains and other sides but rice oh they will load you with rice. The place inside has just enough seats if you're not eat here in rush hour. I believe it has about 5 tables.“
“2nd time here and with great experiences. Our waiter was Tyrone and when I say EXCEPTIONAL service! He was the best! I would come back and ask for him lol. But overall great experience, I will make Las Lap a stop every time I'm in town!“
“So being from Brooklyn, it will not be easy to win me over when it comes to West Indian food. Nice people and good atmosphere. Been here several times so that's a good start. My go to here is the jerk chicken gyro with fries. I'd also suggest their jerk chicken wings. Their salmon was ok. But everything else I tasted was mediocre.Parking: There are approximately 3 parking spots available in front of the restaurant. 80% of the time, I can attain one of those spots. Maybe across the street or in front of thee adjacent Wendy's. The other 20%, I found myself parked inside of the Wendy's parking lot and walking over.“
