“Absolute best bakery in Philly. Local gem run by the coolest/sweetest couple. Best bagels in the city and you can’t go wrong with anything else. Creative dairy and vegan options including the best croissants I’ve had outside of France. Get in line early if you want the goods!Vegetarian options: Amazing vegan selectionWheelchair accessibility: Accessible“
“Ok 2nd sisthers called back address our issues and concerns offered the money back or a credit we opt for the credit because ppl need the money and they are a small business plus be are black we must support our people she will send credit by ? that we can use at anytime thank you ?“
“The best pound cake in the city always moist & fresh the vanilla icing pound cake is my favorite. I would recommend if you like pound cake you give this place a try you won't be disappointed the only thing I can complain about I guess is the price $17 bucks for a pound cake is nuts but it does weigh like 4lbs it's so heavy it's deff worth a try in my opinion not something you get all the time but for sure worth a try once in a while.“
“Located in the heart of Chinatown, another establishment that doesn't take credit cards. Instead payment is via Venmo. So I guess that great since you don't need to pay tax. They have a limited selection of baked goods (see photos) and drinks. Menu is a bit chaotic to read (but this is Chinatown). Baked items are very fresh. Limited seating inside though. Prices are cheap for this economy.“
“Have only had their baked goods and breads at Riverwards previously which are all excellent. Beautiful space, bustling kitchen and really good coffee and food. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich it's HUGE, crisp bacon ??could easily share and save room for a laminated pastry of sorts. However, it's small, tables are packed in and yet there's an endless stream of oversized, empty strollers for 5-7yr olds who last time I checked have legs and can walk independently and those feral children are screaming, banging on the glass pastry cases, and running all over the place bumping into food runners and their parents do nothing. Most aren't even buying anything but a juice and maybe a drip coffee. It's a shame as the place is really cute but I can't stand it being overrun by clueless parents with ill behaved children.Parking: On a narrow street, VERY limited parking in this area“
“I was very confused when I 1st walked in what looked like an office building only to find Darnel's tucked away in the corner. What a pleasant surprise this place was. I came across them after they were on Good Morning America in a national competition for best breakfast sandwich. That's all I needed to hear to try it and I definitely wasn't disappointed. As you can see I couldn't even wait to bite into it before taking a pic! They even give you the option to order biscuits separately which I've don't on many occasions. MUST TRY!“
“I'm not sure I could really formulate a sentence that would properly convey how truly good, tasty, and awesome! their food is. The breakfast sandwiches, the croissants, just all of it. All I can say is no matter your distance, it's worth the trip for this place. I am ~35 mins away and I will go the distance. I also lucked out to have some work projects in Philly and MUST always make the detour to here.“
“We had the best service with Kate! She gave us tips on what to order and ahead of time was dead on. We started with a cocktail and had a glass of wine with dinner. We split the spicy chicken empanadas, delicious, however, we did not detect the spice. We split the green chili Caesar. Honestly, the best Caesar in town. I do t see how they get it so cold and crisp, it's amazing! We then each had a ceviche. The baby shrimp, which were much bigger than anticipated, such wonderful flavor! My daughter had the crab, the server suggested mixing it right away to get the sauce mixed in. Very good! It did need more liquid. We simply poured the extra shrimp sauce in the crab, it was superb after that. The tomato on the shrimp just gives it more moisture and such a good flavor! We can't wait to go back!“
“The BEST cream filled doughnuts I have ever had. The filling itself is light and creamy with just the right amount of sweet. The texture of the doughnut was exceptionally well done as well. The peanut butter cream filled doughnut had peanut butter mixed in with the cream filling, the Nutella just has Nutella spread on top. Plenty of variety even in cream filled doughnuts. The flavor of the blueberry fritter was top 2 for a non-apple fritter. Not as heavy and crispy as I like a fritter though.Choosing from 2 cases of minimum 30 doughnut 0 do not recommend.Eating any variety of doughnut they have: 10/10 would recommend going every day for 2 weeks to try them all and enjoy favorites. I want to make another Google account to rate 5stars again⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“Thank you for such delicious desserts that I served on Easter 2024. I ordered the lemon supreme, chocolate luscious, sour cream apple walnut pie and chocolate covered pretzels. Everyone was raving about how good they all were. I have been coming to Desserts by Design for a few years after a friend recommended you and this time was no different than any others. Your desserts are consistently wonderful. Thank you!“
“We had to place an order that was pretty sizable with a quick turnaround, and this shop was recommended. It was a great experience - friendly and caring service, cute shop, excellent prices, and delicious cupcakes and banana pudding. The mini banana pudding cups were a huge hit at our event, and I'm southern and snobby about such things. We would definitely order again and recommend that others do too!“
“Very nice hidden gem for a coffee or tea stop. The coffee was great. To be honest the tea was ok. So if I may give the very nice owners a suggestion; choose for very good teas like Damman or Rishi (e.g.). Then also for tea drinkers (or mixed couple as we) they will be even more worth wile to go. And btw; one teabag is probably enough. They also have some pastries, pancakes and panini. Very nice interior with lovely background music. I believe they started not long ago so we wish them good business“
“Beautiful little spot for a cup of coffee and tasy treats in bustling center city west. Fantastic art. They also have roasted coffee. Unfortunately, this location has a large step up to get in, getting inside is not easily accessible for people with mobility challenges.“
“I had an amazing trip to Philadelphia for the first time. To end the trip I decided to have dessert at Sweer T's bakery. The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. I'm sure the rest of the desserts are also amazing. If you are in the Philadelphia area, you must give this place a try.“
“I came here for the first time yesterday. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They also gave me a free cookie since I had never been there before. I have really enjoyed everyone I ordered but the chocolate covered pound cake and the cupcake were next level. If you're in the area definitely stop by!“
“I didn't even put in my custom order yet. But I just have to say this place is so good! The service was good. The shop itself is cute. And the cupcakes that I tasted, tastes like these people bake out of love for their neighborhood! Yup, putting in my order now!!????????? More to come...“
“I’ve gone in twice for birthday cakes. I’m horribly last-minute, but luckily they always have already-made birthday cakes for sale which are DELICIOUS. They’re super flavorful without being too much, and they’re beautiful to look at. Plus they can write a message on the cake very quickly. I’m a fan!“
“Just moved to the neighborhood. We moved here because we wanted to be able to walk to places like Coffee Cream & Dreams, and I’m delighted that everything about it is so good. Big fan of the cold brew, donuts, and croissants. The service is fast and friendly too. We’ll be back often.“
“A neighborhood staple, and a great example of how a cultural melting pot like South Philly offers a cross sample of delicious food from different parts of the world. Neighborhood family-owned and operated. The sausage egg and cheese croissant and fruit pastries are a “
“We recently got a birthday cake for our daughter's 1st birthday. At first i couldn't believe the price we were spending on it. But once i saw the final product it was worth every dime. The cake came out amazing. And the workers there couldn't have been any nicer and more helpful“
“This has been my go-to bakery since I lived in Philly! Always a great selection & variety of items with the ability to try something different each time you visit. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and will keep coming back! Also some great gluten-free and vegan options there as well.“
“Twisted Grounds has become our ultimate neighborhood hot stop – my partner and I can't get enough! Their peppermint mocha is hands down the best, and paired with their incredible pastries (seriously, that cinnamon roll!), it's a match made in heaven. Plus, our dog, Reese is a huge fan of their pup cups, and knowing that all proceeds go to Paws makes it even sweeter. Definitely worth checking out!Vegetarian options: Vegan pastries and alternative milk options“
“Hands down one of the top 3 or so bakeries I have been to in the states (Wayfarer in San Diego and Fuji in Seattle being my other two favorites). Slight preference to their savory (jammy egg anyone?) over their sweet, though everything I (and the hordes of visiting friends i have brought) have ordered has been incredible. The way they laminate dough ought to be illegal. Also, bring a focaccia home - they freeze and toast up wonderfully.“
“Delightful visit to this bakery! The mocha cake was heavenly—moist, rich in flavor, and with the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate. Paired with their freshly brewed coffee, it was an absolute treat. Cozy ambiance and friendly staff added to the wonderful experience. A must-try spot for anyone looking for quality cakes and coffee. Highly recommend!“
“The pastries are amazing, Service is great and the Ambiance is the perfect for me and my friends. I love the Hotdog Donut and the hot tea. When I sit here and use my laptop, I see so many people coming in and out! Park right inftont. Yummy!!!!“
“Best pretzels around. My grandfather would buy these and bring them back home to Virginia. I’ve made the trip just for pretzels a few times. The family that run the business are so kind and flexible with call ahead orders as well! Also hoping the renovations after the fire will be done soon! I’ve been craving these pretzels!“
“I grew up on the next street and woke up smelling their creations. If we cleaned our rooms on thurs mom would get pastries. Their butter cake was great but I still dream of their jelly tarts.my sister sends me sticky buns when I am in haegles with drawl. Boston has great Italian bakeries but nothing compares to a German bakery like this one“
“Been dying to come here since they opened in 2020 and finally made it in. The atmosphere is beautifully put together with the cutest southern country vibe. I got the coconut latte with almond milk and was so delicious. i got the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sammie on a honey biscuit and it was everything you think it would be. My mom got the cheddar bagel with cream cheese and was so light, the bread was super soft. this might be our new saturday morning spot!“
“I ordered a surprise birthday cake for my mother who is Vegan. The cake was absolutely perfect from the consistency, taste, and texture. Plus no one would've guessed the cake was vegan. Everyone loved it and just bought another cake for another family member. I highly recommend Diane's for your celebrations.“
“We couldn't be happier with how our wedding cake turned out. We loved how it looked and how it tasted. My wife and I had placed the order a month earlier for our Chinese banquet. We gave Bread Top a picture of what we wanted, something simple and clean and they said no problem, they can do it. We told them when we needed the cake and placed the order. Their price was the best out of the asian bakeries in the area even with delivery included. On the day of, a gentleman dropped off the cake to our reception. He was very quick and I almost missed him but managed to call out to give him a red envelope tip. We received many compliments on the cake, it truly was beautiful and delicious. Our guests appreciated how fluffy the sponge cake was in addition to how light and not overly sweet the whipped cream was. They also appreciated the extra layer of jam we added. Again, we are more than pleased with the service we received from Bread Top House.“
“Really surprised by their bagels!!! They are amazing. It’s kinda hard to eat the egg sandwiches but if you don’t mind a little mess go for it. Cookies were amazing as well- Banana Oat Chip. Gotta wait outside for your food, but not that bad unless it’s busy and cold.“
“Lovely little neighborhood coffee spot. Delicious coffee, great service, cute atmosphere....and it always smells *amazing*!I can't speak to the bakery section due to a gluten allergy, but my friends who have eaten here say the food is really good!“
“Recently order a cake for my daughter’s baby shower. It was beautiful, tasty and moist. Everyone at the shower loved the cake. I got a 3 tier cake. I wanted strawberry with strawberry filling and cream cheese icing. She suggested I do one tier of a different flavor for those who make not like fruit. We went with one tier of chocolate chip. So happy we did. It worked out so well! I gave her 2 photos for inspiration and it turned out so perfect. Highly recommended!“
“These cannolis are legendary for a reason!!! Such a crispy shell with decadent filling. For my first time I tried one each of the ricotta and the marscapone, and they were similar but I liked the marscapone better! It felt a little more substantial and creamy. The ricotta cannolis are $6 each and the marscapone ones are $7 each. I also tried one of the almond cookies and it was soooo good. Not too sweet and a really great texture. Their ricotta cookies are also extremely popular and are so soft and melt in your mouth. Next time I come I definitely want to try more of their cookies! Tips: make sure you grab a number when you get inside! They call up customers by number to order. I also noticed you can either order cookies by number or by weight and they'll put them all in a box and weigh them for you. Come early in the day as the line does get longer in the afternoon! I went once on a Saturday at around 11:30 and only had a few people in front of me, but I came again on another Saturday at around 2:30 and waited about 30 minutes with a line out the door! My game plan is usually Angelo's then isgro's for dessert. Can't go wrong.“
“SO Good!! Lost Bread is a bakery and mill in Philadelphia. I found their table at the entrance to the Schuylkill River Park. The table is unassuming, yet filled with so much. They had Table Bread, Whole Grain Croissant, Deli Rye, Spelt Handpies, Milk Buns, Oat Bar, and Cranberry Bran Muffins. I opted for the Pretzel Shortbread Crisps, which are so yummy. They have lasted all week and I already can't wait for the next batch!“
“Ursa bread is fantastic. Since the pandemic when we were incredibly lucky to have this bread delivered to our door to now it has been consistently wonderful bread baked with love. I go to the farmers markets specifically for this bread. Philadelphia has a number of great new small bakeries but Ursa is at the top!“
“Hands down, by a million miles, by far the best cannoli around. Nothing else like it (and, for better or for worse, I've had my share of cannoli...) If you haven't had it, you've got to try it. (good zeppole too, though not as special as the cannoli)“
“The cutest little bakery with the sweetest staff ! The crème puffs were out of this world- the banana was by far my favorite, hinting a resemblance to the most delicious banana pudding I’ve ever tasted ! The vanilla was also sweet and subtle and they melt in your mouth ! A new favorite place to stop at !“
“What we ordered: Baker’s Basket, Continental Breakfast, French Omelet, and a hot latte.I’d recommend the Continental Breakfast if you’re indecisive or if you want a variety in one order, which was fun for me to try. I love the croissants here because they are not too flaky yet still buttery and fresh. However, the scone was too dry for my liking, and the toasted brioche was okay. It was a fun breakfast for us with friendly service.Be mindful of the parking as well, because you’ll need to parallel park and pay for the time you’re there. If you’re even a couple of minutes late, you may end up with a ticket, which was a painful experience for us.“
“This place has excellent service and great family atmosphere I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to buy cakes pastries and bread, it my first visit here but IL definitely be back.Parking: There are about 10 parking spaces in the street with a parking meter.Kid-friendliness: Very friendly service, any kid would have a good experience here.“
“Given the number of various establishments at this location that have come and gone over the last few decades, the fact that Vibrant has now been here well over two years speaks for itself. The Rittenhouse Square neighborhood was relatively coffee-free for years, and thankfully several places have popped up recently. This is the best of the lot. Coffees and baked goods are consistently excellent. Baristas are usually pleasant. Unless money isn’t a concern for you, however, be advised that a regular plain coffee is around $4, and prices go up from there, so Vibrant is not the best place to frequent often. The space itself is pretty tiny, there’s no real room to sit inside, which leads to lines out the door every weekend morning and when there’s an event going on in the Square. There are some small tables outside the entrance on Locust Street. That’s it, so by necessity business is mostly takeout. Worth it for an occasional treat/splurge.“
“Picked up cannolis to try. Parking was easy and accessible. The lady at the counter was nice and freshly filled the cannolis when we ordered them. The space was clean, not cramped and not busy when we got there. The cannolis were good. The filling was creamy and rich with some chocolate chips and other chunks that I'm not sure what they were. the cannoli shell had a nice crunch and texture.“
“I used to go to the Mart as a child so when I was driving past and saw this place I had to pull in.. pretzels are pretty much $1 each and are soooo good! I don't remember if they are the same or not to what I used to have, but there was an outer crunch and soft steamy goodness that came out when I bit into the pretzel that I will def be going back for..O yeah.. kids loved them too!Parking: Plenty of parking, large lot, Handicapped spotsWheelchair accessibility: There is a small curb and a ramp.“
“Our experience with the sonho was thoroughly delightful. The sourdough donut provided a perfect base—neither too sweet nor overpowering—which elegantly complemented the richer sweetness of the ganache. The custard center was killer, and its subtlety in sweetness allowed the depth of flavors to shine through without being overshadowed by too much sugar. This careful balance of ingredients made for an exceptional overall flavor profile that we greatly appreciated. We're eager to return and explore more of their offerings!“
“The Cupcakes are amazing! Each flavor tastes exactly like it should but intensified by the creamy icing. It not overly sweet and you can tell someone put their heart into making every flavor. The Key lime with coconut and the Butter Pecan -Yummy. Can’t wait to try more flavors.“
“I first read about Boaggio’s on FB. I went there and was treated like a family member from day one!Friendly, courteous and they are always willing to help you. This is my personal ‘Cheers’ everyone knows my name! Food is always fresh and delicious. The bread is so good we eat the rolls on the way home. From meatballs to cannolis and all in between, tried it all and it is the best!“
“A small corner bakery in South Philly with an Asian flair. Hearty and delicate and sweet and savory pastries, steamed pork and vegetable buns, traditional Asian pastries at the holidays like beautiful mooncakes and gorgeous cake creations including Yule Logs at Christmas. New and delicious dishes are always being introduced and there is an extensive menu of beverages. You will not leave Dodo hungry or broke! Everything is very reasonably priced especially for such high quality creations!“
“Giving this spot 5 stars across the board because I have no complaints and I absolutely love the vibe here. My drinks were good, however I did not get any food the three times I've been. The matcha latte was excellent and I really enjoyed the mocha latte!“
“I found this little restaurant by accident one day, and let me tell you, the food is unbelievably good. The Owner Miss Rosa and the staff will treat you like family, the service the food and the atmosphere is top notch, if you craving good authentic Mexican food around the area you must stop here. They also have a bakery and sweet treats for any occasion ?“
