“My sister told me about her local go-to for tacos. I tried the 3 tacos de birria. It was absolutely delicious. Sizeable portion (I was full with 2) and it came with a consome that you could dip the tacos.

Also, the owner is so kind. She wrote a get well note for my mom on her order. I had mentioned that had been sick.

Before leaving the area, I am heading back for another order. Definitely recommend.“

“We discovered this incredible Mexican restaurant and it’s hands down my favorite spot for authentic Mexican food. Despite living in New York City, I happily make the hour-long drive because the food is just that amazing. The flavors are authentic, the ingredients are fresh, and every dish I’ve tried has been a hit. I only wish it were closer to home! This place is definitely making tacos great again. If you’re looking for a true taste of Mexico, this restaurant is well worth the trip.“

“Omg! What an amazing hole in the wall place to eat. It's a very small place, and the inside looks like an old bodega store from the old neighborhood. As you walk towards the back, you see a very small "area where amazing food is made!" At first, the older lady was a little "rude," but I don't believe it was intentional. I truly believe that because she thought I didn't speak Spanish and was with my black american wifey, she didn't know how to speak to me. I will tell you all that her food did the talking for her. Omg! She gave us two different plates for our surprise bags. One of Chicken stew with black beans and a salad, and the other dish was truly as amazing as the other. Truth be told, we had no idea what the second dish was as she surprised us at her own discretion. So, so good!! The two young ladies in the front were very nice and spoke English. I'm telling you all out there that read reviews that you will NOT be disappointed!! Get ready to eat some very flavorful food with lots of love cooked in it!!! We will definitely be going back. We need to support these small businesses so they can continue to make amazing dishes from Mexico and around the world!!

Parking: No handicap parking as it is a hole in the wall on Smith St. in Perth Amboy, NJ, only street parking.

Wheelchair accessibility: It is very difficult to get around if you are in a wheelchair. Parking is difficult, and the place itself is small inside. Maybe you could order ahead and have someone bring it to you. Call ahead and ask.“

“Ordered a cemita de carne asada with fries on the side, a Jarrito and a Squirt Soda, and it wasn't it.... total was $27.50. The bread wasn't your usual cemita bun, and meat was tasteless, and the cemita itself was pretty small for a cemita. The service was great, and the actual location was a whole vibe. I wouldn't order the same if returned. Maybe I'll do another menu item in the future... I have hope!“

“This is my favorite taco spot in all of Perth Amboy. The Tacos are always LOADED!! the meat is delicious and rich and the ambiance of the place is a whole vibe! I will say that their horchata is a hit or miss. Some data’s it’s thick and rich. Other days like today, it tastes like straight sweet water. Really puts the agua on agua fresca if you know what I mean. That criticism aside though, the establishment is very clean and it’s a well kept store. The service is awesome, prices are reasonable and they have a lot of stuff to offer. I do highly recommend the steak tacos with everything on it (which is what I got) and the chicken flautas! They are amazing. Also, just to answer any questions; today I was on a walk with my dog. I called and they let me in to pay with my dog. So they are dog friendly in my book, but always call to make sure if you are ever walking by with your pet and want to grab a bite.“

“We couldn't enjoy El Patio anymore than we do....every time we go there. The owners are passionate about their establishment and it comes through in aces with regards to their food, drink and service. It's always such a great mix of patrons from the local community and passing through travelers. Live music is a definite plus. We absolutely love El Patio and are glad to be repeat customers.“
