“This has to be one of the funnest restaurant experiences I have had in a LONG time .. maybe the best. The chefs and hosts are all fully interactive with the customers sitting around the sushi bar. The omakase was spectacular and each dish was unique. I've been to a few Michelin restaurants and feel this entire experience should qualify for one. I would 100% come back here. Fairly priced as well for what you get.“

“The best udon restaurant in NYC. Their noodle is fresh and chewy. The soup is very flavorful and even though it is quite pricey but worth the money. But the way they eat us is awkward because a long table will be shared with 5 couples. To prevent that, You should make the reservation before “

“Its a local place with 1 chef that has passion with food.Super friendlyOrdered miso ramen with 6/10 spicy and it is delicious.Noodle is just the right texture and its not too heavy so you won't feel sleepy after it.Katsu curry pork is not traditional but delicious.Service is great, however, its a one staff restaurant. Meaning you will need to except some wait.“

“By far the best omekase/sushi we’ve had in the US. We just came back from Japan and this is hands down the most authentic Japanese restaurant we’ve been to. The fish was absolutely amazing, with the perfect amount of soy sauce/wasabi (real wasabi, not horseradish like some places). The fatty tuna was a particular highlight. The seating was typical Japanese style with an L shaped counter and you can see the sushi chefs preparing the food. We tried a few of their sakes, and they were all excellent. We came for my sister-in-law’s birthday and they gave us a free glass of a very good sake to celebrate. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the sushi chefs were fantastic. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this place is. We will be coming back, and recommending it to friends and family.“

“BEST RESTAURANT IN NYC! Daimu is the best host and waiter we have ever had!!!! Truly a gem. So kind. So funny. So helpful. Plus the food is incredible and you truly feel like you’re transported to the streets of Japan. Chef Yokota is a master at his craft and the experience is truly one of a kind and very special. Can’t wait to come back for the next celebration!“

“Nice neighborhood feel: very friendly and welcoming staff who know some of the customers by first name. The onigiri taste extremely fresh and high quality. I loved the beef sandwich, the spicy chicken onigiri as well as the soft shell crab. Spicy sauce is a must. Love this “

“This is an omakase only menu -- no a la carte. The food was excellent.However...Too many nigiri was brazed with a propane torch and brushed with a sweet sauce. If the fish is fresh, that's unnecessary.I get it. You're marketing to an affluent sector of the UWS. But... be true to the cuisine.I'll be back, but please offer an omakase without the unnecessary catering to the local palate.Raw fish is the entire point of the evening.Arigato, gochisosama des'“

“Shabu Shabu Mayumon is probably in my top 3 Shabu Shabu in the US, including another Shabu Shabu restaurant in Beverly Hills.Shabu Shabu Mayumon is amazing from the start to the end. This is a very tiny restaurant in lower Manhattan with only 6 or 8 seats at the counter bar.One person is serving you and one person is taking care of preparing the Shabu Shabu. This is a new concept in between Shabu Shabu and Omakase in a sense where the chef is cooking the meat for you in the Shabu Shabu and then serve it one by one in your plate. This is a dégustation of amazing fresh products including different types of A5. Overall it's worth any minute in this traditional restaurant. There is no surprise they received a Michelin Star.We will come back any time we can! Delicious and great moment.“

“Luis, Yasu and the team at U Omakase are fantastic. The food is incredible, the vibes immaculate (solid playlist), and the experience memorable. My wife and I have been to many of the top Omakase spots in NYC/Brooklyn and I can definitively say that U Omakase is by far provides the best value, vibes, service, and tasty / inspired food. Luis and team are clearly passionate about the food, explain each dish and if you ask will tell you all about why different culinary choices were made. Oh and the ability to BYOB and bring a nice bottle of wine without breaking the bank is awesome too. We'll definitely be back.“

“I went there after searching for a good restaurant in New York, and although the udon soup is definitely delicious, it is definitely not a place I would go to during a short trip. It's just a local udon restaurant. But I liked it. I feel like I'm just an ordinary person in New York. The store on the street has a better atmosphere than the indoor store. There are many Japanese udon restaurants everywhere. The udon ladle size is the best for eating soup. Cola tastes like cold medicine. ha ha ha.“

“I recently dined at Makoto. The reservation was easy to make, and the staff was extremely helpful in accommodating our allergy requests. The location is great and restaurant atmosphere was great, and the food definitely lived up to my expectations. We tried the 18-course and highly recommended, and if you visit the restaurant, you should too. This is a must-try if you are looking for a nice cozy place for omakase.“

“Was here on a Thursday for lunch and it was good. Their seared salmon appetizer was good. They torched it and added a smokey flavor to it which was great for me since I like the smokey flavor. The ramen was spicy but good and the Domodachi Lunch set was abundant and good. Parking wasn't bad for a weekday and service was prompt.“

“The atmosphere is nice, but the pollack roe pasta is spicy, the taste of the food is overrated, and the jazz selection is not that good, so basic… .But it's a unique place in New York and has a local feel, so it's worth a visit. The staff is friendly and the prices are cheap.“

“Had another fab time at this omakase joint. Chef Don Pham was at the helm again, and boy, does he know his stuff. It's like he's got a secret love affair with every fish he serves. The way he pairs everything up, you'd think he's a matchmaker for flavors! And yeah, they still play those 2000s hits, which kinda takes you back, doesn't it? Can't wait to swing by again for that extravagant, kinda non-traditional sushi magic they whip up.“

“This is easily one of the most unique and amazing dining experiences we have had in the city. We have tried many other comparable Japanese restaurants, and this is by far the most memorable one. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Japanese experience. I will definitely be back for more!“

“I’ve been coming here for 5 years. It’s always been excellent and has only gotten better. I ordered delivery tonight. Sushi and sashimi combination. The quality and freshness of the fish is amazing, and the rice is perfect. This place ranks up with some of the best sushi spots in Manhattan (reminds me of Hatsuhana in Midtowb). It’s expensive but so worth it.“

“Like all the other dinners I've had at Ryusei, the food (love that seared black cod) was fantastic. The quality of the fish is so much better than most sushi/sashimi restaurants in the city, regardless of cost. The service is attentive, helpful, and friendly. All the food is fresh and carefully prepared. If you're looking for outstanding sushi at a reasonable price in a nice setting with low noise and tasteful music, don't miss this gem.“

“My friend N and I always go for the lunch special (11am-3pm daily except they close on Mondays) at TJ Asian Bistro. N has been telling people about this place and going there with her friends and family for almost 30+ years now. That's how long the restaurant has been there. It's definitely a popular lunch/dinner spot + a neighborhood gem with the locals who live around the area since they've really great lunch and dinner deals. Exceptionally fast and attentive service from the staff as well, you'll get seated almost right away if not within 10-15 mins even when they're very busy during lunch and dinner hours. They'll come over to people's table and refill the tea if they see your cups are empty. It's nice when the staff recognizes you and your friend right away when you visit from time to time for being regular customers. N has brought me here for my birthday last year and the year before that. So, we start coming here pretty often and now this has totally become our regular lunch spot. It's just 3-4 mins away of walking distance after getting off the 7 train. You can just hop back on the subway afterwards. They accept credit/debit card and cash as forms of payment. Their bathroom is very clean and spotless every time. Ambiance wise is casual and comfy, they've both outdoor and indoor seating. We decide to come here during dinner time instead as a change tonight though, just to see how we might also like it for dinner. You can get either hot green tea or iced tap water after being seated by the staff. Then, you'll be given a menu and several mins to think about what you would wanna get. Staff comes back to take your order shortly afterwards. The lunch/dinner bento box that they offer is probably by far the best deal out of the entire menu because you get to try a little bit of everything depending on what kind of meat/vegetarian protein you decide to order. We ordered the teriyaki salmon and teriyaki beef as two choices for the dinner bento box. But, there're so many other options for proteins. To start off, every meal comes with a refreshing salad drenched in their ginger dressing and flavorful miso soup with seaweed and tiny tofu cubes. Then, after you're done, the waitress brings over the entree which is our bento box. The bento box isn't served in a typical bento box but rather on a platter separated into 4 sections. Talk about a great, colorful presentation for social media or just to show your friends! The big piece of teriyaki salmon is always cooked to perfection just the way we would prefer, soft and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside when starting to take a bite out of the deliciousness. The veggies (carrot, asparagus, broccoli onion plus seaweed salad) that come with the salmon are very fresh and crunchy too. The outer skin of the shumai is ever so crispy and soft on the inside. The 6 pieces of California rolls taste fresh with avocado and imitation crab inside. Rolls are served with a swab of wasabi and small pat of fresh ginger. Bowl of rice is served on the side. On the other hand, the teriyaki beef is kind of dry and not as tender as I originally had thought. The cooking skills of the beef can definitely be improved and worked on. Otherwise, it would've been a different story. We asked for extra teriyaki sauce on the side as well. A very fulfilling, nutritious, healthy and worthy meal indeed. We enjoyed it every time when we come here.“

“I came here for the 12-piece omakase. The courses were tasty, all very unique. Service was fast, but I recommend making reservations since seating is limited. My only note is that the portions were quite small, so it felt like less overall food for the price“

On top of the fresh fish and impeccable presentations, I really appreciated that Don was so accommodating to dietary restrictions. Many restaurants serving omakase are unwilling to make changes. “No question the highest quality sushi I’ve had in my life. Staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and nice. I like how the fish was served with minimal additions - meaning the focus was on the fish, not the toppings or sauces. I loved it. Definitely will eat there again.“

“We had such an amazing dinner at Kaikagetsu! Every detail of our experience from the sourcing of the ingredients, the preparation of the food, the dish ware selected for presentation, and the sake recommendations were incredibly thoughtful and well executed. As someone who used to work in fine dining, I was really impressed that our dinner did not just feel like a meal but an experience where the quality of the ingredients and sincerity of the hospitality really shined through. “Shokudo 34 has outstanding food and service. The servers were very welcoming and attentive to my family. We ordered many dishes, including the Sea Bass, Oyster Ramen, Okonomiyaki, and Agedashi Tofu. They were all cooked to perfection, and the oysters in the ramen were to die for. I love how they had some vegetarian options that my sister can eat (the agedashi tofu and tofu mushroom donburi). The sake also was the perfect compliment to our appetizers. I was also surprised to learn they have 2 locations, one in hoboken, NJ and the other near my workplace in NYC. I will definitely be back to try more of their food!!“
“Nestled in NYC's Upper East Side, Me Jin Ramen delivered authentic Japanese flavors. The cozy ambiance and welcoming staff set the stage for a memorable dining experience. I had the Meijin Miso Ramen and ate the whole thing. The broth, simmered to perfection, harmonizes with the chewy, house-made noodles and exquisite toppings like tender beef, bean sprouts, green onions and sweet corn. As a local, I treasure Meijin Ramen for its consistently exceptional quality and comforting atmosphere. For a taste of Japan in the heart of NYC, Meijin Ramen is an absolute must-visit.“

“My boyfriend and I just ate in here for our 3rd time. We also frequently get take out from here and we love it every time! The rolls and sushi always taste so fresh, and the portions are the best you can get around here! It is also affordable, between the two of us we got two apps, a special roll, and a sushi entre which came out to just under $50, they also offer a complimentary dessert. This place is also BYOB which is nice and adds to the affordability. On top of this, the service is on point! We’ve had the same waitress each time we go and she is so kind, attentive, and knowledgable, I wish I got her name so I could give her a shout out. If you go during peak hours, which is around dinner time on weekends, be prepared to wait around 30-40 mins but I think it is well worth it. This is such a perfect local date night spot so check it out because they do not disappoint!“

“8 ordered 5 handroll combo it was amazing. Crab, lobster, toro, yellowtail all excellent in that order. Liked the bay scallops a little less but still good. Salmon sashimi a good order and solid portion. Vibe is great, service is great, it’s kind of quick and casual but still nice and sit down. No tipping so the value is pretty solid. Seaweed nice and crispy, rice tasty. Wish fish portions in each roll were a bit bigger compared to rice but this is normal. Best a la carte roll is eel. Combo of 5 or 6 combo and 3-piece and salmon sashimi is good for two people unless unusually hungry“

“Very homey vibe, as the place is verrrry small. There are maybe 4 seats at the counter and then a small table. That’s it. You can see the kitchen working. I got the pork ramen, which was definitely a little bland. Presentation was great. The mushrooms were probably the tastiest part. I really admire the effort and cozy ambience though, and I imagine people normally come here for the bento dishes and grab takeout.“

“The service and food were all amazing! My friends and I got the roll set for three which ended up being way too much for us but we still finished it. They also served miso soup, salad, and a tempura set with the food. The sushi rolls were fresh especially the snow mountain roll. Some of the spicy rolls felt a little too spicy however so next time we'll be getting more of the non-spicy ones. We also got an extra roll and mochi ice cream on the house! The servers and chefs were attentive and very friendly to our table which made the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant was also had a calm and quiet ambiance which we enjoyed. The set was also well worth the price for $85 which included 6 regular rolls and 3 special rolls! I would definitely come back again especially for the lunch menu and even try take out!“
“The quality of the sashimi is very good and comparable to that served at Tsukiji and high-end restaurant in Japan. The fact that such foods are available at a delicatessen in New York City is valuable. “Great affordable omakase! Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday. He wanted to sit at the end of the counter and they accommodated us no problem. They had 3 chefs making sushi, so anywhere you sat at that counter you had a great view! Pretty big place with cute decorations. The rice was perfect and the fish was delicious! The uni and ikura oyster was to die for! The eel hand roll at the end was very memorable and I don’t always love eel. We got the 2oz sake pairing. They also had a 3oz option. As someone who handles their alcohol pretty well, I was quite tipsy by the end. So I would say it’s safe to just get the 2oz option. All of the sake paired great with the fish and at the end, they gave us lots of extra sake! Overall delicious food with friendly chefs!“

“Got the sushi dinner (8 pieces of sushi and a California roll. $20). Chose the smoked salmon which was sooo good. Thick, rich meat with not a lot of rice- which is great because I hate when sushi has so much rice and barely any meat. Salmon avocado roll was nice and fresh. Came a little before closing but even then the waiters were all still very nice...We even got free mochi ice cream! A great small, family-owned business perfect for when you want to grab a quick bite to fulfill your sushi cravings! 10/10 recommend, will be coming back!! Xoxo“
