“From a vegetarian's point of view this place got four stars from me because there are a lot of options on the menu for people to enjoy plant based chinese and japanese food - I appreciate that knowing the standard is more meat/seafood heavy. With that being said, we ordered take out from here. We got the vegetable Ramen, sweet tree roll, sunny side roll, and the avo cucumber roll. The specialty rolls were direct copies of the Beyond Sushi menu - which is fine however Beyond Sushi makes it far better, these specialty rolls were a bad dupe for the price. They tasted okay, but very heavy on the avocado so hardly taste anything else. Ramen was average but tofu they used was super fresh and so smooth. Again their menu is perfect for veggie people, don't mind sampling more of their menu.“
“We had to order lunch for guests coming for a work event and everyone enjoyed their meal . Some had the rice with lo mein and some had fried chicken . Everything was fresh and tasty . The service was also very good and the prices Were great“
“10/10 highly recommend. Read about Potluck Club on the infatuation and they were spot on. Potstickers were delicious. The salt and pepper chicken was a first for me, but also delicious. And we had some noodle dish and added the hanger steak. Again delicious. Staff was so friendly and all busting their butts. Really nice to see them working as a team!“
“Arrived too early for our lunch reservations. Some of us were starved already, so checked Yelp for the best place to snack. This place was highly recommended. Easy to find, and many ways to search what we wanted. Most of us picked the #10 and I picked the #13 (fried bun). Took a bit for it to be ready but there were 5 orders to do at one shot. We decided to wait inside even though it was a tight fit. It was a little chilly outside. I think mostly, people order to pick up or have delivered. So the food was piping hot! But we didn't care, it was so good! And we had 3 different dipping sauces. The really spicy one my husband liked a lot. Two of us enjoyed the soy sauce one. My dad liked the sweet white sugar sauce. Everyone was so happy and we can't wait to return again. Definitely recommend.“
“This is some authentic Chinese food for sure. As someone who misses home a lot, I haven't had such well-made red braised pork was in a long while. The restaurant was a bit crowded, but their friendly servicer definitely makes up for it.“
“Antidote Restaurant totally nails the Chinese food scene! The vibes are cool – a mix of old-school and modern. The menu's like a journey through China, and everything tastes spot-on. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff, making the whole experience chill and tasty. Whether you're into casual eats or something fancier, Antidote is your go-to for legit Chinese grub.“
“Fun food hall and mercantile for all. Great if you have multiple people looking for different types of food, looking for a fun higher-end casual date night, or dividing and conquering to go find yummy takeout to go enjoy with a group out on Pier 17.Plenty of tasty options, fresh ingredients, and NYC goodies to purchase.“
“Found this late night gem after seeing Sweeny Todd at the theatre.Unfortunately, the kitchen was going to be closed in half an hour, so we only ordered the House Chicken Fried Rice, Shrimp Dumplings, and Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs. My only complaint is I wished we ordered more before the kitchen closed; it was all delicious!! ??The service was quick. Even the Jasmine tea served had a delicious flavour. We'll have to come back here the next time in NYC.“
“The food is delicious. You can get small order, which is really small or you can get the large which is basically getting a regular size container of Chinese food. You can have chicken, duck or pork. All the meats are cooked to perfection. Great taste not too salty, portion sizes are good and it comes with cabbage or some leafy vegetable. The interesting part is the line. Regardless the weather or time of day, expect to wait in a line. Depending on the time of day, it could be a 20 people in front of you line or 30 people. Bring cash. They only take cash and there's no ATM inside. The price is also good for what you're getting. Quality food at an affordable price. There's the neighborhood, the people you may meet while waiting in line and some good Chinese food. Wah Fung is #1.“
“Generally I give the total five star to this restaurant considering its flavor, service and environment. The steamed pot chicken soup is super good I will definitely choose this every time, on top of that I like sugar cake and highly recommend it. Besides, tomato beef soup, Dai style stir fried beef are also nice to try.“
“We had a WONDERFUL time at Mala Project this week. Our server, Kyle, was extremely helpful in recommending ‘must haves’ for our appetizers, dry pot and, of course, drinks. We planned for only a quick bite to eat, but the atmosphere was so welcoming, we ordered more drinks and hung out for a while. Highly recommend this restaurant!“
“The restaurant was so cute inside. Very comfortable and spacious. The waiter was very kind and encouraged us to have fun. A manager brought us over to the downstairs club towards the end of the night where my friends and I enjoyed some tequila lemon drop shots. The shots were literally the size of a cocktail. The food was quite tasty. The pork dumplings and shrimp wontons were scrumptious and the lobster toast was the highlight of the entire menu!“
“Place is wonderful, great atmosphere, they will squeeze you in regardless of how busy they are. Btw this is our second day in a row eating here. We woke up this morning and couldn’t stop thinking about yesterday’s lunch. Dinner was amazing….hidden gem. BYOB ❤️“
“Got the munchies? Want to satisfy it quickly and cheaply? This spot is for you. It is quick and cheap. Food is also fresh. People are going in and out so food won't get stale. The food is also tasty. They even have veggies for people who don't eat meat. If you're a straight up vegetarian then try the plain congee and the cilantro roll. Excellent! They also do custom orders. If straight up cilantro rice rolls is too plain, you can add egg, roast pork, or shrimp to spice it up. To skip the line, call the number so you'll be in and out.Vegetarian options: Cilantro rice roll, plain congeeParking: As you enter Elizabeth street from Canal Street, there is a parking garage 50 feet from the turn from Canal Street.“
“Absolutely love this place. One of my favorite meals recently. Service is so warm and the food is divine. Mama Lee herself brought us a few of the dishes! Three cup chicken and sweet and sour fish were my favorites. And the complimentary chicken and radish soup washes everything down. Def come with friends to get a variety of dishes. Will definitely return!“
“Omg Yelp revival?? Came here with a group of 5 after Spicy Moon rejected us and it was truly one of the best meals I've eaten this year in NYC :,) Service was so welcoming and the ambiance perfect as well (not too loud like the majority of other restaurants cough cough spicy moon cough cough and super pretty plates and bowls and nice jazz playing in the background) (jk we love spicy moon! they are rightfully busy) I know this review is off brand so will flesh this out with more words later ^^“
“Ottimo ristorante di Ramen (giapponese e non quello "tarocco" o fatto con quello istantaneo del supermercato) che offre anche una fantastica selezione di ravioli. Prezzi tutto sommato accettabili per la media della città e acqua gratuita. Posto piccolo, accogliente, staff cordiale e velocissimo. Porzioni corpose quindi ordinate con cautela o non riuscirete a finire tutto.“
“This restaurant is an unforgettable culinary delight! Every dish is brimming with creativity and craftsmanship, allowing diners to sense the chef's respect for ingredients and passion for cooking from the very first bite. Whether it's the classic favorites or innovative creations, there's always something deliciously surprising to discover here. The portions are generous, the service is attentive, and every visit is a feast for the taste buds. I highly recommend it to all food lovers out there - you won't be disappointed!“
“I saw this place on instagram and added it to my bucket list. My husband and I traveled from Atlanta just to try The Monkey King. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. Our waiter was accommodating and made us feel like we were seating in VIP. We met the owner Mike. He was professional and was grateful for us traveling to Brooklyn New York to try his restaurant. The taste from each dish blew us away from the concocted herbs and spices. We will definitely return.“
“Solid hot pot place! I came on a cold Friday night with a friend for dinner. We did make a reservation ahead of time just in case, but the restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside. You use the tablet at the table to place your order. It defaulted to Chinese, so you have to switch it to English if you can't read it. We were not totally sure what everything was on the menu based on just the names. Food/Drinks: This is a communal hot pot place, so there is one large pot in the center of the table for your party instead of individual hot pots per person. This is a la carte instead of an all your can eat hot pot restaurant. You start by selecting the type of broth that you want. I recommend doing the half and half option, so you can try more than one. I typically get one spicy and one non-spicy. Be warned - the spicy one is SPICY! We got the lowest level which is "Normal," and the heat builds the more you eat it. I'm pretty good with spicy food, but I do not think I could do more than the "Normal" level. We also tried the pork bone broth, which was a good complement as our non-spicy option. You will select your preferred ingredients like meats, seafood, and veggies in order to cook them in the broth. We decided to go with beef, tofu, and veggies. The meat comes on a plate that they put on its side, which was an interesting presentation. Don't forget to make your own sauce at the sauce station to dip your cooked items in. We also got the kumquat lemonade, which was quite refreshing! It ended up being about $50/person for everything that we ordered. Service/Ambiance: We were confused at first because the restaurant sign is higher up, so we were not sure it was the right place. When you first walk in, there is a bubble tea stand to your left and a waiting area, so it was a big confusing. The sauce station is in the middle of the restaurant. Service is pretty standard for an Asian restaurant meaning it's not great. You will need to flag people down if you need them as they don't typically come over and check how you are doing like at standard American restaurants. This doesn't typically bother me since a lot of Asian places are like that. Overall: I would go back again for more hot pot!“
“Highly Recommend: steamed dumplings & wheat noodle in peanut butter sauce! ? On weekend they have fried dumplings special (pork only). Dumpling price is $4.50 for 12pcs, $3 for 6pcs. Other than great value for money, it is also tasty. I came on the weekend and it was packed.“
“I love going to or even just ordering from Shan. Everything is fantastic (although I especially love their dan dan noodles). We usually share the Pork Dumplings in Chill Oil, the Ma-La Szechuan Wonton, Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Soup Dumpling, Crab Roe Soup Dumpling, Sweet & Spicy Udon, and Sliced pork belly w. mustard green.“
“The best thing about the restaurant is the old lady that owns the restaurant! Absolutely! Adorable and soo sweet! The beef noodle dish was so5 stars for 5 seasons1. Owner is sweet! Sweetest old lady you’ll ever meet!2. Beef noodle dish was perfection! Super flavorful, noodle texture perfect! Beef was so tender!3. Price was amazing!4. Fast service! Super!5. Location was good! Not the best!“
“2024 update:I take back what I said below. They updated the mapo tofu dish with soft tofu. I gave this place another chance and it’s actually an amazing restaurant with so many flavorful dishes. Still one of only TWO true Szechuan restaurants in Brooklyn.I just came here during the day for the first time yesterday, and it was such a nice vibe to sit in the restaurant with the sunlight. Very cute vibe, no loud music, and friendly attentive staff. The best way to judge a good sechuan place is by their Mapo Tofu dish. This place uses firm tofu in theirs and the sauce is very off. Very disappointing and not authentic. If I can’t get a good Mapo Tofu somewhere then it is pretty much a deal breaker for me.“
“Relatively new places, launched by a Chinatown local. You will come across this place through a keyword search for “Cantonese”. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get the flavors as if you were in Sai Ying Pun. Dishes are Americanized to tailor to the locals. And yes, “general Tso’s chicken” has its honorable place on the menu. And yes, it is amazing. All dishes are amazing. No wonder there is a huge line to get a table. There hasn’t been a single smile coming out of any of staff members, but it’s ok. Food quality and atmosphere overshadow particularities of one’s hard day at work.“
“Finally got to try this new restaurant in my neighborhood, I had heard it recently changed from Vegetarian/Vegan to 100% Vegan so I was extra excited about supporting a local vegan restaurant. We ordered takeaway to bring over to a friends gathering and the host did an outstanding job on guiding me to the items that would travel the best. We ordered the Black Truffle Fried Rice, Dry Mushroom Fried String Beans, Black Pepper Sausage, Deep-Fried Mushrooms w/ Salt & Pepper, Dried Chili Beyond Chicken and a Stir-Fried Spicy & Sour Shredded Potato... It was ALL delicious, we loved everything we ordered. If I had to pick favorites I'd have to say the Truffle Fried Rice, Dry Mushroom Fried String Beans, Deep-Fried Mushrooms and the Dried Chili Beyond Chicken was a big hit too but you couldn't go wrong ordering any of the above! The vegan Orange Juice egg on the sausage dish was so unique! We didn't take any photos because it wouldn't have done the food justice. Inside the restaurant looks beautiful, it's sure to be an elevated and serene dining experience, I look forward to eating in soon!“
“The spot to stop at when in New York. The consistency of this sponge cake is remarkable. $1 for original and $1.25 for flavored..there is a sponge cake with chocolate in it and it just bursts with flavor. It taste authentic just like the ones from Hong Kong ??. This shop is off the main street and if you don’t see the sign you’d walk right past. The Best Sponge Cakes in New York.It is like a sterile cafeteria in here and clean. Go early in the morning when all the flavors are out. Later in the evening almost everything is almost gone. Check it out and you’ll be glad you did.“
“Very much enjoyed these dumplings! We got an ordered of fried and boiled. The fried was pork and chive, the boiled was beef. The dough wasn’t too thick and they were flavorful. The soy sauce style sauce was really good. The place itself is a hole in the wall with not much seating, however, service is quick and up a block or so is a nice seating/park area and that’s where we ate. This place is super affordable. Both of these totaled around $8.Parking: There is no dedicated parking.“
“Having a halal dietary requirement this place was perfect since the entire menu is vegan. I ordered the vegetable dumplings and the truffle rice.. The dumplings were top notch- they were steamed to perfection and the bottom was crispy and that chilli oil… speechless. My favourite has to be the Brussels sprouts- they're saucy yet crispy 10/10.The staff were very friendly shoutout to Luke. Definitely will be coming back when I return to New York.“
“This was recommended by Future Canoe YouTube channel. Takeout only. I had a pineapple pork bun. Delicious! Taste similar to what I had in Singapore. I also ordered the shiumai (pork dumplings), the best shiumai I've ever had. Big pieces and full of meat. I would come back for sure. Because it's takeout only, it's quite hard to eat outside the restaurant but so worth it. Service was quick even though there's a line.“
“Being that I spend so much time in Chinatown, my social media feeds are often pumped full of cheap eats and hidden gems etc etc. when I saw the video for this literal hidden gem underground "looks hella sketchy" dumpling spot - I said to a coworker we must go I bet we walk past all the time - and we walked up to the glass doors and fully hesitated because yes it is THAT SKETCH - I said we are going and opened the doors went down the stairs and the other stairs and ordered the dumplings (the man at the window spoke English) and OMG seriously the best I've had and I will 100% return for more and to try other menu items. CASH ONLY There's other stores in this defunct mall. Jewelry and perfume ? Knockoffs? Not sure.“
“Obsessed with Bonnie’s it had such unique takes on Cantonese classics and each dish was excellent. The atmosphere is modern and fresh - would be cute for a birthday or night out with friends/family. Everyone working there is super nice and personable - great service. Great cocktails too!“
“If you're searching for a dining experience that transcends the ordinary, look no further than PF Changs! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was both inviting and elegant, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. But what truly set this experience apart was the exceptional service provided by bartenders Quenta and Danny. Their professionalism and attentiveness elevated my visit to new heights. Their mastery of mixology was evident in every cocktail they crafted, each one a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. Their genuine enthusiasm and friendly demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.I must also commend Giussepe, the manager, for his excellence and attentiveness. He ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was nothing short of perfection. His dedication to customer satisfaction was evident throughout the evening, and his presence only enhanced an already stellar experience. In summary, PF Changs, with its outstanding service and delectable cuisine, earns a perfect 10/10 in my book. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner for two or a memorable night out with friends, this establishment is sure to exceed your expectations. Don't hesitate to pay them a visit—you won't be disappointed!“
“My favorite place to eat. Great food, speedy service, and always feels like home. Thank you to the big brothers that keep this place running. There's always that amazing omakase or all you can eat hotpot somewhere, but this is the place you keep coming back to because it's cozy, not stuffy and chill. Great vibes, accepts cash or Venmo. It can be hard to get a table immediately but generally people won't stay too long so the wait is only 20-30min max during peak hours.I almost cried the last time I was here. I was a regular that moved away. I didn't realize how much I missed them until I sat down and ordered some favorites. The salt and pepper wings and for dinner, the salt and pepper fish over rice. I usually order the ramen for brunch.“
“This is the easiest 5 star review I've ever left. Came here for an anniversary and the staff made it feel incredibly special. The food was divine, environment was great, and service was beyond impeccable. Anything you could want for a celebration or just a nice night out. The tasting menu was wonderful and would absolutely recommend spending the additional $10 for the custard and caviar. If you're torn between desserts go with the cake and sorbet, both are incredible but it's the more complete and balanced dish imo. Honestly thanks again to the staff for making a special night even moreso.P.s. I would buy the scallion butter by the tub if I could.“
“I have never tasted Chinese cuisine as delicious as this before. The intricate blend of flavors, the perfect balance of spices, and the presentation of the dish are simply phenomenal. It's an experience that is both satisfying to the palate and visually appealing. Truly the best Chinese cuisine I have ever had the pleasure of trying!“
“Came in last night around 7:30pm. The girl taking my order seem like she didn’t want to be there and not the friendliest. I was a bit intimated and shy to order more as she seemed annoyed the more the I ordered. The girl bringing my food out was lovely! Made sure I was satisfied with my food, and named every dish as it came out & overall very upbeat. I didn’t grab her name but she & beef noodle made my experience lovely!!“
“Beautiful interior design, cute booths, ample space despite the relatively small store footprint. Lunch sets were excellent! We ordered 2 lunch sets + an extra main which is just right for two people with large appetites. The double cooked pork and spicy chicken were exceptional - honestly a quality I’d expect in China. The eggplant dish was a bit too sweet (and I’m from an area that eats sweet) but cooked just right otherwise. Ingredient quality was excellent. Highly recommend going for lunch!“
“The price includes the service charge, so it's easy to pay for the food... I like Chinese food, so my husband and I often go here in Korea, and I didn't know that xiao long bao could be so different, but it's great.... The chicken feels like Zico Bar. After eating it, it was really delicious... The other dishes were good, not too salty or too sweet... I want to come again......... The owner and staff. People are kind....“
“The ingredients matter. Chef Guo uses the best organic & fresh ingredients to cook them to their best natural flavor. I love the magic he does with these ingredients. The presentation and restaurant decor just put his cuisine to the next level! Highly recommend this place to folks who appreciate nature, organic and yummy food and fine cooking skills.“
“If you are reading this because it's late, maybe it's cold, and street side yakitori feels like the the little planet you need to orbit in the vastness of NY space, then this is your sign to go. I went in the cold. Had a nice chat with a Michelin star sommelier who was there after work and loves this place. We ate lamb, chicken skin, mushrooms... chatted... went our separate ways. Perfect spot.“
“A small restaurant in Chinatown that serves a lot of Chinese noodles dishes. I ordered the Spicy Lamb Huimei ($11.75) and Pancake w. Pork ($5.75). The noodles were decent but I was not amazed, but the pancake w. pork (also known as a Chinese hamburger) tasted delicious. The service was great and they are cash only. The pancake was a bit on the expensive side, but still not expensive. Overall, I would rate this place a 7.5/10 - I wouldn’t have any urge to revisit, but if I were to be in the area I would show up to enjoy a good bowl of noodles + Chinese hamburger.“
“We had a wonderful event at For U, the food is absolutely delicious, I keep thinking about the cucumber salad it’s so crunchy and tastes so good, the sesame noodles are flavorful and so good, delicate and delicious version of that dish, the best I have ever had. And the Peking duck is divine. It’s a wonderful place for a party, they work with you to make it really special. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the space is warm and beautiful. We had a wonderful time and will go back for dinner very soon.Dietary restrictions: Our event served vegan and vegetarian options as well as standard fare“
“Great prices for delicious food. I see why Guy Fieri has come here three times. The noodles are perfectly imperfect and the flavors are spot on. The only questionable thing about the place is that the duck is served bone-in which brought down my wife's enjoyment of her dish“
“This restaurant tool me by surprise. It is not like a typical restaurant around China town. The space was modern very clean airy and tables were spaced apart. The young staffs were friendly and service was quick. The chang fens were not like traditional chang fens. It had the freshly made thin rice paper filled with lots of fillings. The portion was generous. The congee was served in a huge bowl and tasty. The Hong Kong milk tea was strong and authentic. We loved food and service.“
“This location is hands-down a high-quality place. I'm currently in grad school, and this place has never failed me when I order something to go. I've tried most of the main dishes and they are all great. The food has lots of flavor and is always served hot. When I order delivery, the order is always delivered quickly and the customer service is great. I highly recommend everyone in the neighborhood give this place a try.“
“The best place for reunions and chitchat in New York. They have plenty of reservations and it’s located in Chelsea, New York — close to everywhere.Loved my food and the dining experience there. Would recommend it if you want to catch up with friends and find an easy place to talk for hours!“
“My dad, a Chinatown native, is a regular here so that's already a great recommendation! Definitely start with the roti canai ($8), thin dough dipped in curry. The Hainanese chicken with rice was juicy and the chicken rice is a hit. The masak lemak was spicy and super flavorful. Every dish is an amazing value with large portions at extremely reasonable prices. They have a few beer/wine selections as well, and we had some wine at $8/glass. The space itself is large so great for groups!“
“I’m almost confused as to why there is such an authentic Cantonese spot that opened up in this location. Servers are all Cantonese. It’s as if they pulled the staff and the entire restaurant and just opened it on the uws. With that said, servers will be yelling to each other ? Been here twice now. Love the clay pot rice. And also the dining atmosphere is very nice, especially for a Cantonese restaurant. Good lighting, nice decor.“
“Really good dim sum! I've been coming here for 5 years now. Every time I come I feel so bad that the restaurant is so empty and it seems even worse after COVID. I'm hoping it's because people don't know this place has really good and cheap dim sum. I really do think they need to advertise it better since the outside of the restaurant does not look welcoming and you definitely would not think this place serves dim sum (with carts too!). I've been to the other ones in NJ - Aquarius, Dim Sum Station, Qin Dynasty, and China Chef wins. Please people visit China Chef and show them some love! I need this place open forever. Get the fried shrimp balls, siu mai, lava egg custard bun, bbq pork pastry, and thank me later.“
