“This is a fun brunch place. I was in Reno for the weekend and ate here twice. Their corned beef hash weekend brunch is amazing. So savory. I had a Bloody Mary one morning. It was good not great. The food compensated. Service was very friendly and fast both times. If you go for weekend brunch and arrive around 10 expect to wait. This place gets busy, but for good reason.“
“Food was great. Loved the ambience. My host was very nice and knowledgeable.I ordered one of their chicken sandwiches it was at its best. Perfectly cooked crispy on the outside, juicy inside. The tater tots were very complementing as well.Pricey for students though!“
“Fun experience with lots of interesting decor on the walls and ceiling! Large portions: My friend and I split a Cobb salad and ordered a side of garlic bread, and we couldn't eat it all (believe me, we tried!). We will definitely go again.“
“This place was a gold mine. I recently read an article from ourbigescape.com titled "3 Top Hole-in-the-Wall Reno Joints". I'm not going to lie; hole-in-the-wall will always spark my interest because the mainstream seems allergic to that term. We arrived early for dinner yesterday, around 5 pm, and the place was empty. We walked in and found what I had hoped for: an Irish dive bar that looked the part in all the right places. They had a medium-sized back room with a pool table, a must for me, and dive bars. We decided on the famous Rubin sandwich, cheeseburger, and onion rings. The onion rings were just fine with your regular large, greasy rings. The cheeseburger was a "good solid burger, good meat, nice char." I had the famous Rubin. Any sandwich with famous or the world's best in any self-proclaimed menu item makes a little laugh. Well, I'll be the first to tell you that using famous for this sandwich was well deserved. The meat, flavor, bread, and overall taste were out-of-this-world good! It wasn't a greasy pile of food. It was a work of art. This Rubin sent my tastebuds over the moon and straight to heaven. This recipe was passed down from the previous owner/cook, who worked there for over 30 years. He taught them how to make the Rubin, and they stayed true to form. Amazing! I came to find out our bartender, Lee, was the owner. We told her about the article and the reason why we came in. She couldn't have been more welcoming and sweet to us "newcomers" walking into her place. In fact, everyone is welcome, and there is no such thing as newcomers to her. This sandwich and bar is on my radar now. If you want an amazing Rubin, then you need to get your butt over there. My only advice is don't go hungry.“
“My wife and I were very surprised to find this little gem. She had the soup and salad, which she loved. I sampled her lentil soup which was rich and hearty. It came with a side of tasty cheese toast. I had the pastrami sandwich with onion rings. It was lean and a generous portion. She said she has found her new favorite place.“
“I am so so pleased with my experience here. We rented out the party space and it was BEYOND perfect for our celebration. They set up the tables the way we wanted it, made thoughtful recommendations on food types and quantities and provided stellar service (thanks, Tracy!). I would host gatherings here again and again. The food was also delish. Their starters and pizzas were really well done. Can’t wait to come back.“
“Stopped here as some of my college buddies (Jimmy and Danny) are part owners, and I wanted to show support. There may be a bit of bias in my opinion, but I think not. Emily was my tender and she is off the hook. Not just with how she treated me, but with all patrons. She had a beautiful smile, was very attentive, and almost started busting out some amazing karaoke. I left full and with a bag of swag! Keep it flowing Emily!“
“Visiting Reno for a couple of days was told about this place. Walking down the Riverwalk District and ran across their convenient location right on the river. Beautiful decor, great food, wonderful presentation. Prime Rib sandwich was awesome. Posted dessert empty plate. Wanted to post a picture of the bread pudding but ate it too fast. If the portion looks small on the sandwich and fries, it is because that is 1/2 order because my wife and I split it. Plenty of food. Great portions Great fun afternoon will certainly come back. Taylor did a wonderful job Very comfortable environment.“
“I finally had the opportunity to try out the Old Southwest Social House, I've been wanting to come for a while as it's close to my house. My wife and I came in on Wednesday night and it was quiet, not too busy which is nice and plenty of space. We sat at the bar, which includes machines for gaming, although I rarely ever use these but nice for those that gamble. They have a decent beer selection on tap, I ended up with one of my favorites, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. We weren't super hungry, so we ordered potato skins, loaded fries, and the Beef Chimichurri Tacos. The Tacos were great, right amount of flavor and toppings, I would order again for sure! The loaded fries are very cheesy and filling. That's not a negative, they were really good but something I wouldn't order as often. The potato skins were good as well, classic potato skin, can't go wrong!Overall satisfied with my meal and experience, would go back again, especially for a nice casual meal on a weekday night.I will also mention they have a Happy Hour from 2:30 - 5:30 which is 20%off food and adult beverages.“
“When I first moved to Reno a guy on the news gave the ten best places for tacos in Reno. I’ve copied the list and I have had some very good tacos. Our Bar was not on the list. Today I ordered the chicken tacos. Best taco I’ve had in maybe 5 years.“
“We ordered to go for the first time and got stuck in a traffic jam coming home. Although running behind our server Meagan went the extra distance and called up back when our order was ready and then put the food under the heat lamps until we could get there. We enjoyed everything we ordered, fish and chips, chicken club, meatball sub, fried and tots! We will be back soon for sure!“
