“For the sake of full disclosure I’ve worked with the owners for over twenty years in the television industry. They have brought the same dedication and amazing attention to detail that has resulted in their tremendously successful careers, to their wonderful new restaurant. They have thought of EVERY detail from the whimsical videos playing in the rest rooms to the sugar cubes for your espresso... they have missed nothing. The menu is inventive and perfectly executed... Watermelon Gazpacho?! Whoa! The unique presentation of the Calamari appetizer was wonderful. Bouillabaisse?! You don’t find that as the seafood option very often... what a treat. Others in my group enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and the slightly smoky Mac & Cheese. Of course the cheese plates are spectacular. This is one of those meals you won’t forget! But wait did I mention the speakeasy downstairs? The perfectly appointed room features an amazing menu of craft cocktails AND six draft beers to choose from... including Ommegang Rare Vos... you simply don’t find that on tap anywhere!! Finally a word about the service. It was impeccable, perfectly attentive without being stuffy. Chris and Ellen have created a destination restaurant!”

“Been to Lagonia's 6 times over the past month every meal has been great! The most recent we 6 people in our party had appetizers (Calamari), soup and salad with Lasagna, Eggplant parm, Veal Par, Pork chops Ala vodka with chicken. Everything was cooked to perfection french onion soup was out of this world. Everything arrived to the table in a timely manner looked great and tasted fantastic. Our waitress was very pleasant and freindly and gave great service, always there if needed but never rushed. I have ordered hamburger on previous visits and it was the best burger I've ever had, not to mention the home made french fries. Burger on the rare side crispy fries both times cooked as ordered. Can't believe that these burgers have not been voted the #1 burger in Chatham! I would HIGHLY recommend Lagonia's to all that wants a great meal.”

“We eat here all the time. We have always had great food and great service. I NEVER order steak when we go out because I’m always disappointed in one way or another. My husband has ordered the NY strip several times and it’s always been amazing. Last night I ordered the strip steak and it was absolutely amazing! It was cooked perfectly! The mashed potatoes were so good!! We love this place, we’re so happy to have a great restaurant so close to home.”

“OMG We live in CT and came to NYC for an appt and things. For fun, we went to the farmer's market in Union Square and bought some of your incredible, amazing, delicious, gluten-free brioche buns and we're amazed! We can't wait to get back to The City so we can load up! We'll totally place an order before we come with our empty back packs! I have celiac disease, so it's a huge deal to me and my guy to find such an awesome bun! We're not even huge bread eaters and we think these blow everything else away with or without gluten! They also keep well in the 'frig and toast up beautifully in the air fryer. We can't wait to try more of your GF options, too. Thank you so much!”

“Lovely, lively atmosphere on Trivia Night! The food for the four of us was very good, up to the usual high standard! And this particular evening, they were short staffed, but the bartender covered our table in the back and was a fantastic server, attentive and affable, he was a real pro!”

“Your typical hole in the wall Chinese take out restaurant (though you can eat in). Food was tasty and freshly prepared. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for 5-Star cuisine stay in Manhattan. If you are looking for an affordable General Tso’s lunch special, this is as good a place as any.”

“My partner and I have been to the Aviary many times and we are always excited at the prospect of going again. Last night we had an absolutely lovely day-after-Valentine’s dinner there. Cocktails, appetizers, mains, all fabulous. At first I was disappointed that the fantastic steelhead trout I had there recently wasn’t on the menu, but the short ribs were a terrific alternative. Nick serves a wonderful cocktail and, at this point, he even knows what we like. We enjoyed being in the nest and appreciated that the staff agreed to seat us side-by-side so we both had a view of that beautiful room. Service was excellent, as we have come to expect. No photos, b/c I left my phone at home so as to just be there. Thanks, all.”

“Chatham is a beautiful quaint NY town and this store reflects its feeling. Just next to a post office, there is seating outside and indoor. Deli pre packed and food to be prepared on-site that is delicious including muffins, sandwiches soups and small dishes. I love the seating in the back which is classic American rustic. Everything is so clean and there was even cards and gifts available. Would definitely want to come here again with my children. Great Cafe and breakfast/lunch stop.”

“I cannot emphasize how much I love the breakfast sandwich here! I’m from the west coast and make it a point to come here every time I’m in town. The sambal, the fried egg, everything… oh so good. I hope the menu never changes!

“My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!”

Their farm-fresh offerings are locally sourced & community-driven (you can literally SEE the farm from your table!). Their Bees Knees honey lavender milkshake with gin is my favorite summer after-work treat - non-alcoholic ice cream options also available for the younger family members, of course.”

Parking: you can park alongside the place on church street, it's not common for there to be no parking there but if there isn't you can always park at the library across the street.

Kid-friendliness: they are the sweetest people, and if your kid wants candy, it's like 10 cents, so it is so great. they also have little toys for very cheap, like dinosaurs or ducks.

Wheelchair accessibility: it's level with the sidewalk”

“Just visited for the first time Wide selection of beers. All were awesome. I had a flight of four and Rita tried both pils. Very relaxing atmosphere and Tom was a great host. We brought lunch from the nice deli right next door. Looking forward to our next visit.”
