“Pecking House had some of the best fried chicken I have had in recent times. It was elevated and you could tell there is an extra level of sophistication to their chicken. Different flavors, different techniques and some Asian fusion aspects that pair so perfectly well with the classic American style fried chicken. Cornbread was excellent, dirty fried rice was also superb and the chili chicken sandwich really hit the spot. Can't wait to return to Pecking House in the future! “One of my favorite cheap eats in Manhattan. I cannot explain how much I love this place. You go up to the counter to order and the food is ready within 5 minutes and served directly to your small table. And even though the restaurant itself is tiny, there always seems to be an open seat as people eat and leave very quickly. I ordered the Fried Chicken Rice and it was delicious!! Although there isn't a lot of chicken, the fried bits are fried to perfection as it isn't too oily and full of flavor. I especially liked dipping it into the sour and spicy sauce which elevated the chicken. The rice is also to die for as it is seeped with chicken broth, you can just eat this alone without anything else. Also, the soup is incredible as I love how much white pepper they put into the broth, the flavors are so incredibly intense. I love ME Chicken Rice. Probably top 10 favorite eats in NYC!“

The service is awful though. Guy at the counter had no greeting, just played on his phone. Didn't use gloves when he handled my food (people use their phones while on the toilette so would been nice to use gloves or wash hands). He didn't say thank you, just handed it to me in cold silence. My advice would be to hire someone who can at least pretend that they want to be there and act like they appreciate your business. “Due to circumstances, I can't go and eat there, so I've had Uber delivery for 3 days in a row now (trying various things). The quality of the food is incomparable to other restaurants. It's on a different level. Each and every sauce is made with care. They package it well. I had a question about the menu, so I called. When I did that, the female waiter (not Korean) was really kind! She explained it to me while shouting a little and said that she was sorry for yelling at the end because the store was too noisy. Even though she was busy, the waiter explained things so well! We had the snow onion original (delicious white savory/sweet sauce with mild onions on top) and their signature tikkudak chicken (fried and then grilled over charcoal, giving it a nice smokey taste). “Heard so much about Rowdy Rooster and finally made it here. We came on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't too crowded, we were able to grab a seat. There are also standing room for a quick bite as well. The place was so adorable! Everything was so colorful and the walls and even the ceiling was decorated with colorful roosters. Our cashier was really helpful in helping us decide what to get bc it's our first time here. She said the thigh meat was better in the sandwich and indeed it was one of the best chickens I have ever had. It was so crispy but so tender on the inside. Loved the sandwiches so much bc it was full of Indian spices too! The mango lassi was amazing, definitely comparable to any sit-down Indian restaurant. We also had a hard time deciding what sauce to get and she gave us a complimentary sauce in addition to the one we bought, so we got to try both sesame yogurt and mint chutney, which were both delicious! I've shared it with friends and colleagues. Today I experienced something even better. I placed a delivery order at work and when I got home to have this wonderful meal, my order was wrong, I like dark meat, they sent me white. I went on their website and left a complaint of my disappointment no less than 10 minutes, the store manager, Alexis called me to apologize and asked how could he fix this for me. “This is some good ole southern food?! Fried chicken 20 stars!!! I’ve been to this place 3 times already, I always get the veggie plate, which is 4 sides. I get greens, cabbage, black eye peas, & pot salad or string beans. Now normally I don’t get nobody’s pot salad because since our generational grandmothers have all passed away , no one can do it right ?…. But baby pan fried did ?.. I was impressed?. Somebody over 40 made that pot salad ?. The only thing I haven’t taste , was the Mac n cheese ( my heartburn be killing me ) I can’t do all those cheese at this age & the yams. Food is delicious, we always get the Onion Chicken, which is perfect to share with 2-3 people and supplement with something else like bu dae jigae. Like everywhere in Palisades park, street paid parking is limited but there is free parking in the neighborhood streets if you want to walk further. “I loveeee this fried chicken shop. The food is soooo GOOD! Its comfort food and it always does the trick. They are super easy to get to since the train is right downstairs. I have been to a few fried chicken middle eastern shops (like Kennedy Fried Chicken) and i like what they do with their breading. It has a hint of spicy flavor to it and it just works. The mashed potatoes are great as well. The store itself recently went through a renovation, which is great because it previously looked like a crime scene. The only thing missing was the white tape outlining someone's body on the floor. The prices are also very reasonable. One gets so much food for so little in price, and the staff in here are so nice. They are always very helpful and attentive. I just have a small complaint and its the location. I wish they were 3 or 4 blocks away from the section 8 housing projects. It is so scary and unsettling to eat greasy deep fried fast food, and then have to look out the window and see poverty. The two just don't mix. If i am eating my feelings, i really don't want to see the housing projects in front of me. There are times i come in here, and i have to clutch my white pearls and hold onto my purse because some of the customers in the store are very suspect. I see a lot of underage girls come in here with their baby (which they had outta wedlock). The baby daddy is nowhere in sight and i feel bad because being underaged and jobless cannot be healthy for a newborn baby, but i digress. SUPPORT this place! I am sending them positive vibes and hope they make it through the pandemic unharmed.“
