“I can't give Sans Bakery enough compliments! Their service and care about items shipped is better than anyone I have dealt with past present and probably future. My sister wanted to order a Lamington cakes for my birthday. Brian made sure I was shipped what my sister had ordered; the six individual cakes that are wrapped(I thought it was the cake). However, UPS in their divine wisdom, deemed it necessary to ship them on a scenic tour. They didn't arrive on time for my birthday but that was NO FAULT of the bakery's. I want that to be perfectly clear. I reached out to Brian and while I was disappointed that I wouldn't get them on time he was so kind and empathetic that I couldn't stay upset for long. Again, I thought it was the regular cake and not the individual ones. Brian said he would ship replacements but once I saw they were the individual ones and confirmed they were still fine to eat, I was happy, my sister was happy, all was well. But Brian wasn't having it, he was unhappy that UPS failed us both. Imagine my surprise when a few days later I received another box of the Lamington cakes! I was not expecting that. I was perfectly fine with the outcome but Brian again is an amazing person and he didn't appreciate that this was a representation of his bakery by UPS's failings. So now I have plenty of Lamington cakes and they are freezable so I put a few away so I can enjoy them later. As far as being true Lamington cake like the original in Australia, it took me right back to Adelaide where I had my very first one! Oh my goodness they're so good! And did I mention they're gluten-free?!I cannot thank Brian and Sans Bakery enough for making my Unbirthday amazing and tickling my palette enough that I sent pictures to my cousin in Melbourne Australia taunting her a little. She can pick them up at the Woolworth. ;-)Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“

“Great bodega with a surprisingly large and international snacks selection. Lots of vegan foods, large beer selection, plenty of protein drinks, kombucha, limited edition cereals, nuts, and some pantry staples. Plenty of fun junk food and ice cream if you want it. The hot breakfast foods they serve up are always great and they are generally very efficient and friendly.“

This Chick Bakes Gluten Free • $
47-47 31st Pl, Long Island City

“We got a chocolate bundt cake for my boyfriend who is both gluten and dairy intolerant. It completely exceeded my expectations!! What was surprising was it was not super sweet, and the texture was dense and moist. Totally delicious!!!! I will NOT wait for another birthday to get one again soon! And the brownies were fab, too. Very dense, sweeter than the bundt cake, so, perfect if that is your preference. The folks that work there are super nice, too.“

“If you've been around NYC and vegetarian, you have almost definitely heard of Dirt Candy. It's the epitome of vegetarian fine dining in NYC.I will preface my review by stating that I have not grown up in the fine dining realm; there is probably some level of "appreciation" that I lack. That being said, the food here is great. Presentation, creativity, flavor experience are all on point. However, I couldn't justify the price for the food. I think if you are very curious and want to knock it off your bucket list OR you are someone into fine dining then this is perfect. Otherwise, there are restaurants that I think you get much better bang for your buck for in NYC.“

The Temaki they serve is great for a 2 bite situation, making it really easy to share between 2… if that’s your thing. To be honest, coming here and getting the classic & signature is just as $ as getting delivery sushi, maybe a bit more expensive but it’s worth it. High quality ingredients & thought out flavors.Personal favorite temaki is the XO scallop. The whole entire restaurant is gluten free by the way, so that might win a lot of people over. The interior & vibe is definitely for a certain demographic and will become aged out within maybe a year or two. The interior is on the same note of that Tend instagram dentist place, and that’s not a compliment. The music they play reminds me of what they would play at like a retail store.Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is gluten free & can help gluten intolerance with their meal.“

“Delicious, hot out of the oven pies in a cozy wood paneled old school spot. They have espresso martinis on tap but we opted for the wine - all reasonably priced by the glass and super tasty!Between two people we shared the DelRay (their version of a pepperoni) and a white kale pie. The DelRay was a juicy and savoring slice with perfect tomato sauce, and salty greasy saucers of meat. They have chili oil and chili flakes which only help magnify the flavors. The white kale has a base of a nut-free kale pesto with cheese and garlic. This one was a sleeper hit. I usually don’t like white pies but this one blew my expectations. We also had a tres leches cake which was soaked in sweet milk and had a sponge texture. Not my favorite dessert but it could have been that I was so full at this point.I can’t wait to come back and try my pizzas. Might be my favorite sit down spot in NY for pizza ?❤️“

“I happened to be in Greenpoint on a weekday morning so I decided to add Radio Bakery to my list of places to stop by. There was no line, so I was in and out. There are a few counter seats by the window and some tables on the sidewalk outside for those who want to eat at the bakery. I was hoping to get their chocolate PB croissant, but they didn't have them that morning, so I ended up getting the double baked pistachio croissant and the earl grey morning bun. The pistachio croissant was very good - super flaky and crispy on the outside and not too sweet. I liked the whole pieces of pistachio on top. The early grey morning bun was also solid, and I really liked how strong the early grey flavor was. Overall this bakery is great, but I knocked off a star because this place is pricey, even for NYC ($8 for a croissant!). I also don't think it's worth waiting in line for on the weekends, so I'm glad I got to go during the weekday.“

“I absolutely love the coffee, however, everytime I come to this establishment, I am charged differently for the same drink. I am not to certain as to why. I expressed this with some of the staff here at Hamlet, who then empathized with me, but I guess did not relay the message. I am starting to believe that specific staff members are making up prices. I am not too happy about this. I truly enjoy the coffee, however the fluctuations of the pricing will be their downfall if it persists.“

“My go-to coffeeshop in the neighborhood! I love swinging by here on my way to work, coffee in hand on the subway, station just around the corner. I'm usually a simple cold brew person, but their blended drinks and lattes are both excellent, while boasting a variety of flavors usually hard to find (sorrel and soursop).“

“I recently celebrated my birthday at Vic’s with a group of friends, and it was an absolutely fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance was lively yet intimate, setting the perfect tone for the evening. We started with the ARANCINI, which were fried to perfection and surprisingly light, with a delightful balance of lemon and fontina cheese. The VODKA pizza was special, featuring unique toppings like guanciale and marjoram that perfectly complemented the gooey fontina cheese. The MAFALDINE pasta was a revelation, with its inventive combination of pistachio, chive, and bread crumbs creating a symphony of flavors and textures unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. And of course, the CHITARRA pasta with lobster and spicy tomato sauce was fresh and indulgent. To top it all off, the TIRAMISU dessert was the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. The service was friendly and attentive throughout, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. I highly recommend Vic’s for any special occasion or simply for a delicious meal with friends. Be sure to make a reservation, as this gem fills up quickly!“

They also have a beautiful patio so awesome in warm weather and for Covid safety. It’s a truly special place and I can’t wait to go back again soon!!Vegetarian options: One of the best vegetarian places I’ve been too—quinoa based, mushroom based, alternative meat—so many different kinds of substitutes that taste amazing :)“

“Lunchtime Discovery That Demands a Dinner ReturnMy first venture into Rucola for lunch turned out to be an unforgettable experience that has me eagerly anticipating a return visit for dinner. Nestled in a space that can only be described as a rustic cabin meets modern chic, Rucola instantly charmed me with its unique and dope vibe. The highlight of the visit was, without a doubt, the sandwich – a creation so deliciously satisfying, it left me in a state of "nom nom" bliss. It's rare to find a dish that makes you dream about your next visit before you've even left, but Rucola managed just that.Adding to the overall excellence was our server, whose recommendations were spot-on and service was impeccable. It's always a pleasure to encounter staff who enhance the dining experience with their enthusiasm and knowledge.Rucola's ambiance, combined with top-tier cuisine and service, makes it more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination. If lunch was this impressive, I can only imagine what delights await at dinner. Counting down the days until I can return and dive deeper into their menu. ???️“

“The best pizza we tried in New York.We liked it so much that we came back a second day to eat this pizza. The dough is tasty and crispy, in other places thanks to the toppings the pizza tastes like something, here the toppings make it sublime. We ordered the first time, a portion of cheese and another of pepperoni and sausage. The second time only pepperoni. The ones from the first day were better, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't order pepperoni again.Highly highly recommended!!“

To begin with not many pizzerias make grandma slices, whereas they had an abundance when I went in. To top it off the taste is just an explosion of flavor! This is besides a variety of pizza styles they have ready. I'm definitely coming back and can't wait to try out other craft slices!“
