“I was surprised that Ballantine did not have a better star rating. We are passing through. Most well rated Willoughby restaurants were very full. Ballantine is a large place, lots of wood, with some crannies, one being in the back with a mantle and gas lighted fireplace. In live music before it switches to current sports. Special dinner: Clams which were very fresh, clam chowder with fresh vegetables, and a huge hamburger with greens. All good. Staff people were super friendly and helpful. A beautiful lighted outdoors with floor to ceiling glass. Couldn't have been any better. Thank you, Ballantine.”

“Haven’t been to JT’s Diner for about two years. Thought we’d give it a try as we remembered it being good at their previous location. We were very disappointed in our breakfasts. My crisp bacon was burnt to a crisp with burnt taste upon first bite. Our home fries used to be excellent “sliced” potato’s, but yesterday came as mush and the scrambled eggs were not even cut….just folded like an omelet. Coffee was good and hot, as in the past. For $20.53 I expected better. Don’t think I would return.”

“Today it was chilly and rainy. I got off work early and had been thinking about trying ramen here for days. I sat at the sushi counter with my book and my sweater. I ordered the Kiiro (yellow) ramen. Let me tell you, this was a nice warm hug in a bowl and everything I was hoping for. Calvin was a lovely man making sushi behind the counter. He was very amiable and easy to chat with. I work close by and will definitely be back. I cant wait to try the Kuro (black) ramen. Calvin if you see this I was reading Ravensong, part 2 of the Green Creek series. Enjoy!”

“I love Arabica coffeehouse. It’s a really friendly environment in historic downtown Willoughby. The owners Tim and Tina Are both very nice and welcoming and their staff is friendly. I love the huge selection of teas that they have to choose from. This is where I go when I just don’t want to be home by myself. Love to come here read or work a little and people watch. There is always someone friendly to talk to. I’ve made lots of friends here over the years.”

“We had the best day watching The Buckeyes at The Wild Goose! One of our sons lives in Willoughby & the other son & his wife live in Shaker Heights. Fav spot for our kids but our first time. The pizzas, onion rings & buffalo dip were amazing! Outstanding selection of beers. Loved the atmosphere. Charming but lots of TVs as well. Can’t say enough about the staff!!! Outstanding service & so friendly! Cant wait to come back!”

“We had such a great experience at Candy Cloud in Willoughby! We ordered a mix of treats, including the Blended Blue Coconut Lemonade, Birthday Cake layered, and fun add-ins like Sweet Cream Cloud Foam, Sour Blue Raspberry Boba, and Strawberry Popping Boba, everything was delicious!

The Blue Coconut Lemonade was perfectly blended, super refreshing, and had that bright, summery flavor. The Birthday Cake layered was a hit too, fluffy, sweet, and tasted exactly like real birthday cake. The boba add-ins made everything even more fun.

The staff was friendly, the shop was clean and cute, and everything tasted fresh. Even the large iced water was crisp.

Overall, such a fun and unique treat spot. We’ll definitely be back to try more flavors!”

“Dave's Hot Chicken fulfills a role that I believe has been severely lacking within the game of fast food fried chicken: an establishment that offers both the crispy and well-cooked quality of fried chicken, as well as the search for heat beyond reason that offers flavor and excitement for the palette.

I ordered a #3, 1 tender and slider with fries (extra hot). I was hesitant at first, as while the aroma entering the store was enticing, the price made me skeptical. Upon receiving my order though, all of my fears were absolved.

The presentation alone was beautiful, (see the attached picture) and the flavor and consistency was immaculate. It already met one of my most important criteria for truly great fried chicken: a batter which does not fall apart as soon as the first bite is taken, with the skin tearing off in a clean break. Each piece had the proper ratio of chicken-to-batter, and the heat was absolutely perfect. It built over time, slowly consuming my tongue more and more in the most incredible way. There was also still a lot of flavor to be had, not just hot for the sake of it (another important factor in good hot fried chicken).

The fries were also very well cooked, a batter style, they bring a relief at points when the spice becomes too much. The Daves Sauce, while sweeter than I was expecting, complimented the meal and fries perfectly. It isnt Canes Sauce by any means, but I think it works perfectly in context to the entire meal. Also if youre a pickle lover, this meal is made for you. They offered another relief to the heat that was welcoming in moments of manual breathing with the spice.

Overall, this was a very impressive meal. The staff was nice, and while the atmosphere for me personally is just alright, the food itself is fantastic. It is a tad pricey, I wouldn't get this all the time, but for a lover of fried chicken and spice, this is something you have to try. I do believe this is something you have to give a full expereince, don't just grab Daves bites if you haven't been yet. It's a very contextual meal, but one that I believe is 100% worth it.”

I am going to stay healthy and fit so that I can live longer so I can eat more freshleys. I would eat my gyro if I dropped it on the ground. I would pay $30 for the gyro I just ate if I had to. I would walk to buy one if I could. I don’t even look forward to eating gyros anywhere else because I know they can’t possible compare to these ones. The angry gyro should be renamed the happy gyro, because that’s what it truly makes me feel. I would choose this as my last meal if I was getting sent to the electric chair and I’m dead serious. “Went here for a birthday party—a private affair, if you will. Hulk Hogan had just died. Steve Miller and the J. Geils Band was blasting and the Yuenglings were flowing. The ten TV screens were showing a variety of horse races and the Tour de France (this was in LATE July, so you can’t really blame them). Parking was adequate. This was a pickleball and slide-on shoes crowd, and it was spectacular. Would return for the 60th birthday party if it’s held here.”

The people are courteous and professional. The egg rolls were crispy and hot. The crab ragoon was very tasty. I got Mongolian beef, spicy which was perfect. The shrimp with lobster sauce was pretty good. We substituted pork lo mein for the fried rice. It tasted grilled and delicious. Both were awesome. We also got shrimp with garlic sauce. The shrimp was tender and cooked well. We've been here twice so far. Both times were pretty awesome.”

“Always delicious and I find myself craving their food every couple of weeks. I always get the Thai Basil with chicken, so freakin good. Yesterday I decided to try the Pho, and it cured my weary soul. Truly, I had been feeling not so great and my tummy just loved it. Make sure you put all the herbs and sauce in there and mix it up. 10/10 will get again when I need some comfort soup.

Honorable mentions for me: basil fried rice, Pad Thai of course and the jumbo chicken wings are so yummy.

This is more of a take-out place.. not really a dine-in experience, though they do have tables and chairs if you're inclined.
