“I'm a real breakfast guy. This place is amazing! Everything on the expansive menu looks so good and if it's anything like the dish I had it's all great. I had chicken and waffles. The waffle was exceptional and not your run is the mill waffle with no flavor, the chicken was perfectly crispy and moist, the eggs were perfect and the gravy was amazing. They also brought out both maple syrup and some special vanilla syrup that was really good.Parking: Parking on both sides of the building but the parking lot is rough and small.“

So many things are being done right here; the food, the bakery, and the coffee are all equally fabulous. “A wonderful restaurant that has been around in the Portland area for years, and I believe it may have been the original one of the now very large multi-country chain. Always busy, and usually there is a few minutes of wait time, before you can be seated. I called for a special occasion for my elderly mother's birthday, they arranged the window seat that I requested, and even gave her a special fruit and whipped cream parfait, with a candle. Food was very good as usual, with the exception of the one thing I was craving the most, which was the corned beef hash. The taste was great, but it was as dry as I've ever had in my life, it was like eating fried sawdust. I had to take a sip of water with every bite. Unfortunately, since they had already done me favors, I didn't feel like I could complain and send it back. Otherwise, I definitely would have. Most often, the food is excellent, and that is why I am posting this review. Definitely worth trying out if you have never been there before. “One of our favorite spots when we visit the Portland area! Expect a wait but just remember it’s for a reason. Sandwiches come out hot and fresh! Their menu is thoughtful of all dietary needs and there really is something for everyone. It’s incredible how creative they can get with simple ingredients. “We had the Boston waffle with PB&J, bananas, and whipped cream. It was delicious and the perfect size as a dessert for two people. Fluffy and light, and just filling enough. Congratulations to this beautiful place with such a warm vibe, deeply noted while standing in the sideways wind and rain while putting our names in with a calm and kind woman whom I later found out was the owner. There was a bit of a situation when I hadn’t realized the text came in that our table was ready. By the time we got to the door and the sign said closed, we were perplexed! Okay, maybe it was just me, because I hadn’t realized the text for our table had already come in! The owner was curious where we had been and said that even though they were closed, she would be sure to seat us as she recalled me saying it was our dear friends birthday. Even in the midst of crazy holiday crowds… The service, atmosphere, food, vibe was just what my heart needed today! You know who you are! Keep up the beautiful work- We can’t wait to go back!“
“Had brunch with some friends. Everything was great! The Biscuits had amazing taste and texture, dense but not tough with a lightly crunchy crust. Crumbly but didn’t fall apart. The gravy was creamy, savory, and well seasoned. The Blueberry Cormeal pancake was amazing with a texture that was somewhere between fluffy and dense. The Hash Ups were crispy on the outside and not over done on the inside. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good but more breading than I usually like, a thicker cut tomato would’ve made them better. BUT the Lemon Meringue Pop Tart was the stuff dreams are made of! We were all full at the end of the meal, but my friends decided to get one and I am so happy they did! I will definitely be coming back here while those pop tarts are still in season.“

“I was pleasantly surprised by the house drip coffee. It was very tasty with just sugar and half n half which I haven’t usually found to be the case with most non-espresso coffee beverages. I got the biscuits and gravy and was also pleasantly surprised cause I am a biscuits and gravy snob but these were very flavorful and the right about of spicy and savory. I also got a hash brown and it was perfect! Plus whatever oil they cooked it in was very mild which enabled pure fried potato flavor“
“Wife and I tried this place recently for the first time and was pleasantly impressed with the quality and service of the restaurant. We went on a weekend and were able to get a table without a reservation. Granted we arrived 2 hours before closing so that might have helped. Either way, we had a nice meal. We will definitely make another trip here again!“

“Elmer's serves only high quality meals and they are consistently delicious and presented beautifully. There servers are always friendly and eager to please and provide what you want. I have eaten there numerous times. The "Crabacado". omelette is huge and has a generous portion of real crab. It's the same with the avocado and bacon. I always choose the pancakes and maple syrup which are both fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend Elmer's.“
