“Never can say enough good about Finelli’s, the restaurant or the family!! This was a long overdue dinner date and we always enjoy the food and amazing desserts! Our amazing waitress Brittany was awesome, kind, helpful and on it!! And Braden was a delight and so joyous!! He would be the perfect person to train others in customer service!! We already have our reservations for next month. If you haven’t been here… why not??!! This restaurant is impeccably clean, the food is beyond what you will expect. “Overall, a great Altoona bar for mixed drinks, shots and bar food - clean bar top and attentive bartenders. If you don’t smoke this is not the bar for you. There’s a bar, the next door over that’s owned by the same owners that’s a great non-smoking option (Zach’s). Regardless of which, if a PA team is playing they’re showing it on several television angles within the bar. There’s an ATM, cash only cigarette machine, and several lottery machines at your disposal.”

“Something I learned over the past 2 years is that green bean coffee house is an absolute blessing to the homeless community. Overflow church as well as other churches and organizations come together to host a warming center each night through the winter for the homeless and green bean coffee is one of those organizations that assist with it. The night I volunteered overnight, in the morning green bean donated hot breakfasts to all the homeless. They also allow you to pay for a coffee or hot cocoa in advance so that when a homeless person comes in, they can ask for one without question. I am so moved by their love and compassion for those less fortunate. Not to mention their food and coffee is delicious!”

“If you think you can't get good Indian food in a place like Altoona, you have never eaten anything from this restaurant. The food is always delicious. Always. The portions are perfect. Not tiny, not overwhelming. The menu is extensive, and there always seems to be something new and tasty to try. The prices are also reasonable (especially if you take into consideration the quality of the dishes served). If you decide to dine in, the restaurant itself is a hidden gem. It's like a warm and inviting little café or even a friend's cheerful kitchen. You will not feel like a customer. You will feel like a guest. “I recently visited Marzoni’s and ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer along with the chicken parmesan and spaghetti. The Brussels sprouts were very good , flavorful and nicely prepared. The chicken parm itself was decent, but the spaghetti was just okay. It tasted more like boxed noodles and was overcooked, which took away from the overall dish. Overall, a mixed experience: great appetizer, decent main, but the pasta could use improvement.”

We called in an order for a large pepperoni pizza (with onions and mushrooms), an order of mozzarella sticks, an order of onion rings, and the combo steak hoagie (large with no green/bell peppers, add, mayo and lettuce). We were very pleased with our order and the helpful staff. My mother walks with a cane and when she went in to get the order, they walked it out for her. Thank you staff! The food was delicious. The steak hoagie is the best I've had since moving to the area 12 years ago. I've tried a lot of steak hoagies at other places and they were not nearly as good. The meat-to-bun ratio was perfect and it was very filling. The bun wasn't soggy with grease and had great flavor and a nice chew. The onion rings were great. They were not soggy and had great beer batter crunch, the same for the mozzarella sticks. We got a large pizza and it was HUGE. The crust had such good flavor. My only complaint would be that they did not put enough pepperoni on it to sufficiently cover the real estate. They could be a bit more generous with the toppings. Pricing at Dino's is on par with other places in the area. I found I spent the same amount there as I did placing an order to Dominos, the difference being I got a lot more food from Dino's. For what I paid to get a large pepperoni pizza (bigger than anything Dominos serves and better tasting), mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and a really good large steak hoagie, I paid Dominos for a large pepperoni pizza, 2 salads and a brownie. The steak and cheese at Dominos can't even compare to Dino's. I'll be going back to Dino's in the future.”

“Just had a fantastic little pizza from OIP and wanted to share! I ordered a small pie with extra cheese and extra pepperoni, and it was exactly what I was craving.

The pizza was perfectly cooked – the crust was nice and crisp on the bottom, but still soft and chewy on top. The extra cheese was melted to perfection and gave that wonderful, gooey pull with every bite. And the extra pepperoni? Delicious! There was just the right amount of spice and it was clearly good quality pepperoni, not the cheap stuff.

“Born and raised in Altoona, PA. and I know some of the Sheetz family. A Grandfather owned a dairy and several times on Christmas Eve, he brought us goodies (in the 50’s). The Sheetz “clan” is a wonderful family. I had the pleasure of shopping in the first 2 Sheetz “Kwik Shoppers” in Altoona. I know several high school class mates who have retired from Sheetz and enjoyed their time working there. Now, we just got the first Sheetz relatively close by in Michigan. Been there twice so far. In sum, the Sheetz family are a wonderful bunch. I hope Michigan enjoys Sheetz as much as Sheetz enjoys Michigan.”

“Stopped in here on a recent Friday evening as Levity Brewing is currently undergoing renovations. They've got a cool vibe here and the bartender was quite personable; neat place. With respect to the craft offerings, in terms of Untappd ratings, they're not quite up to par with Levity and JJ Hadley, both within a stone's throw of the front door, but they're decent. In fact, my fave was an IPA that was actually a collaboration with Robin Hood Brewing. Support your local brewer and check out Railroad City for yourself.”

“THE 2-2-7!

…….Thats what I call the excellent deal they have on 2 dozen wings at Nardo’s Cafe!

So I was in the area at a close by stationary and copy service center when Nardo’s was recommended. So I walked on over. And as I approached the door I saw a sign that said, “Try our lemon pepper wings”.

Right then and there I knew that there was something special about the cooks taste and abilities! And, in hindsight, one would think that lemon pepper wings would be a common offering. But, despite being familiar with traditional lemon pepper chicken, this was actually the first time I ever saw it offered as American Cafe style wings.

So I waked in and placed a lunch order. Though not for the wings that day. And I did strike up a conversation with the chef about the wings.

Instantly it became clear that this cook was passionate about, knowledgeable and skilled at his craft. And, during the course of the discussion, he mentioned a 2 dozen wings for $27 deal.

So I promised to return in the future to place an order. And it was only a few days till I returned to buy the wings.

I decided on the 2 dozen for $27 deal. And this price is on par and somewhat better than most establishments. Especially considering today’s economy. And an economy which, despite the valiant efforts of late, still may take a little more time to recover once the dust settles from the much needed regime change.

Anyhow, I arrived on time so as to get my wings as hot as possible. And one must consider that, if you are not dining in, you really should be punctual about arriving at the exact time scheduled to pick up your food.

And, to those that are thoroughly ignorant of food sciences, know this: Gravity and condensation are factors that affect hot foods placed in modern take out containers.

This means that, if you take your good old time to pick up an order, sauces can travel to the bottom of the foil and pool. And, in addition, water condensation can also accumulate on the upper surface of modern styrofoam take out containers. “A friendly location, good place to come and have drink at a reasonable price. Kim has been my bartender each time and she’s very personable and has good judgement about people. Hasn’t been very busy the couple of times I’ve been in, but the service has been attentive because of it. Never had to wait at the bar for a drink. Would recommend as a good place to relax and enjoy a pint. I can’t speak to the food as I’ve never had any (besides the bagged chips), but they have a kitchen on site that serves food until midnight.”

Instead, the woman cooking during day shift made multiple rude and unprofessional comments about our food as she was bringing it out to us. Her tone and attitude were completely out of line and instantly killed the mood for the entire table. What should have been a fun, welcoming experience turned uncomfortable because of one person’s behavior.
