“I recently worked as a photographer at this bar/restaurant space that was being used for a wedding. There is a small space in the back thats great for pictures and small parties. They also have a bar upstairs and ample parking across the street. The appetizers were delicious and creative. Its a nice venue to hold a small event or to have drinks/dinner.“
“The venue was almost perfect! It is well appointed, the bathrooms super clean. The set up was great. The bartender was awesome! She was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Friendly and efficient. Good parking, well lighted exterior. I would recommend this place any day of the week.Thanks.“
“A true marriage between a coffee shop and cocktail bar. They serve traditional café fare here, as well as signature flavored lattes, craft coffee drinks, and many cocktails with a coffee or tea twist. Every week, there's also a new special on the menu. They also allow guests to bring food, so you can cozy up with a drink and some bites and hang out late into the night (which we have done many times!)Vegetarian options: Almost all drinks are vegetarian, and vegan milk alternatives are available upon request.“
“Swung in for a quick afternoon drink with my wife, server was very friendly & answered questions. However I noticed other staff didn't really speak much, and spoke to other patrons as they left, not sure what that was about. However the establishment was very clean, and our drinks was very good.“
“My daughter took me here and I have to say it was every thing I could have asked for. A true experience to say the least. The cocktails were absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is above reproach. I can not wait to bring my husband when we come back. Thank you so much for a wonderful time.“
“I've been here a few times, it's a fun place to bring people because of the whole speakeasy vibe. They don't take reservations so it's hit or miss if you can actually get in. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! It's like ice chips which cheapens the drinks, which seems to go against the suave swanky vibe. I got the pickle mule this time though and really liked it.“
“Very nice restaurant in the heart of Ridley Park. Went with two other couples (made our reservation 30 days out). Metered on street parking out front. We were seated promptly. Brand new menu.Five of the party had the scallops while I had the salmon. Food was excellent, though at more than $10 per scallop we won’t be rushing back. We all agree it’s a nice “special occasion“ restaurant.Parking: On street meters that take an application or accepts quarters.“
“The menu was so varied--so many choices of vegan food (not just the fake meat variety). We enjoyed the brussels sprouts, beet salad, focaccia, flatbread--all outstanding. We didn't care so much for one pasta dish with sweet potato--pasta a bit dry and chewy and seasoning a bit bland. It was a Saturday evening so quite full and service was uneven probably because of that. The background music was quite loud, particularly the bass line. I could hear to talk but I found the music distracting me from enjoying the food. But I think younger people have a different relationship to monotonous base lines and find it makes the place lively. I was delighted to find another vegan restaurant, just disappointed that the ambience wasn't good for me.“
“This is a spot for cool people, you will know when you walk in- that’s the vibe. I’m not that cool though and I felt welcomed (that’s usually how cool people make you feel). Anyways, the pickletini is dangerous, my friend had like 7 one time. I like this place!“
“Really great, inventive haute cuisine real Mexican; well executed thoughtfully prepared. Might have slipped a bit since my initial visit, but that could just be me being super impressed first go-around. Quite noisy on the weekends, be prepared to wait for your cocktails.“
“Food was fresh and fantastic. It's considered new American food and I think the menu might rotate seasonally. It's recommended that you get 2 or 3 small plates per person plus an entree.Probably not kid friendly, the place is on the smaller side and not sure if they have high chairs.“
“Hands down the best meal I’ve had so far in Philly! We shared the Chef Special and every dish we tried was amazing. Definitely recommend the foccacia (pictured), tuna crudo, ravioli with sweet potato, and cacio e pepe. Our waitress, Kaitlyn, was helpful in explaining the menu and provided great recommendations and service. Can’t wait to go back!Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free pasta is available.“
“My in-laws were in the town, and we booked a table for 4. Even though they were a little late to the reservation, the restaurant made no problem. (They were not happy with it for sure, but they did not make us feel uncomfortable about it. So do not be late still)Fantastic food and a delicious menu. Everything is authentic Italian style cooked. We love it!Decoration needs to be updated but gives old italian vibe, no complaint. Our favorite thing was how our server, Micheal, improved our night. He was quick, careful, professional, and very friendly. He checked on us without needing him—excellent, outstanding professionalism. We love every second of it. We will be back! Special thanks to Micheal.“
“Very good. Authentic Mexican restaurant. Exceeded my expectations. It has been a long time that I dont eat cactus/nepal and it was delicious. I would like to go back and try every item in the menu. My husband had the gorditas and they were delicious.“
“I’ve been here for brunch and happy hour. Great breakfast menu and the food is spectacular. The rooftop is a must see. The only issue is that you have to go all the way to the basement to use the restroom and you aren’t able to take the stairs to exit out the first floor. The happy hour food is great, but the drink offerings and discounts are thin. Something to be aware of: the “dirty double” martini is not actually a double, so that’s kind of misleading. Service and food are great though, so I definitely still recommend checking this place out!“
“Redcrest Kitchen is the Cafe / Diner on 6th St. just a one block south of Philadelphia's famous South St.; In other words, it's right where all of the action is. On this rare rather warm Saturday (short sleeve shirt in Philadelphia in Mid-March-really?) we got a outdoor table for our brunch and basked in the sun. My wife shared a hotdog and Caesar salad with my sons girlfriend, my son also had a Caesar with an order of fries and I had their very good; 2 scrambled eggs A wedge of excellent hash browns Two breakfast sausages And some whole grain toast To say we were all "Happy Campers" with this first rate meal combined with accomplished service would be an understatement. Along with a not too expensive bill, made this trip to the Redcrest Kitchen an outstanding experience.“
“I have only good things to say about this place. I thought at first it was a little odd to have steak tartar served with fries but the pairing was actually really good! Everything was amazing. I have never had such a complex gnocci dish and it's probably the best I've ever had. The scallops were perfect. Mussels, snails... all of it. Everything was just amazing; I cannot stress that enough. I can't wait to go back!“
“I ran in to pick up takeout for after soccer. I did not want to leave! I wanted my husband to join me from Jersey! We are definitely coming back. Angel, the bartender was very friendly and accommodating. The food was prepared quickly and was delicious. The place was romantic and cool and chill all at the same time I did not catch the name of the performer tonight (Monday 3/18), but he was playing Classics adding to the atmosphere : Ring of Fire, Wagon Wheel, I’m on Fire.“
“Cantina “Calaca” Feliz, located in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, is a vibrant spot that brings a contemporary twist to traditional Mexican cuisine. This lively eatery is celebrated for its fresh, high-quality ingredients that transform simple produce, fish, and meat into an array of flavorful dishes. From the pork Al pastor tacos to the Smothered Burrito, each menu item is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to culinary excellence. The atmosphere is equally delightful, described as bustling and fun, providing the perfect setting for a casual yet memorable dining experience. With friendly service and a menu that caters to various tastes, Cantina “Calaca” Feliz stands out as a neighborhood gem where food and culture blend seamlessly.“
“Came here for brunch this last weekend. What a lovely experience! Mind you I don't really approve of brunch - half the stuff you can make at home for 3/4s the price. But this place was great! Staff were so nice, patient and helpful. Small but good drink menu with delicious non alcoholic options as well. We had the biscuits and apricot jam and goat cheese fritters as appetizers. Fritters weren't overly salty which I was worried about. Nicely fried with a refreshing apple jam. Biscuits were excellent - nice and flaky. I had the biscuits with mushrooms eggs and potatoes. Eggs were cooked well but still had a bit of runniness to them. The mushrooms were delicious and it all came with this cilantro dressing. Potatoes were also excellent with some peppers thrown in for good measure. It was so hard deciding what to get because honestly everything, especially the savory dishes, looked fantastic. Prices were reasonable, great experience and even though it was brunch and close to their breaking time before dinner, we didn't feel rushed out at all. Highly recommend them!“
“really enjoyed our dinner. nice relaxing atmosphere. great cocktails....esp their spin on mojito and old fashioned. spring rolls very good. oyster dish outstanding as is Obama bowl, least favorite was shrimp dish with mussels...,dark sauce... very good not great.“
“I came today to vista Peru . I’m from Rhode Island visiting here for my birthday . The food was amazing , the restaurant is really cute and the wait person . The lovely person with green hair was amazing at their job . They made me and my partner have an amazing experience in this gem of a restaurant . I can’t speak highly enough of the service overall and will recommend to all my friends and will come back for sure whenever I’m in Philly . And again can’t speak highly enough of our server. The most amazing service I had and made my birthday very special .“
“I have been going here since they opened. I really do love the food, drinks, and the fun interior. The service however always leaves something to be desired. The people are friendly but absent. I often have to wait to even be asked if I want a drink let alone food to start. I am not sure if it is a problem with not enough staff or inexperienced staff. Overall, the staff needs to be more attentive to customers. The music choices are completely fine but please, please turn it down. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars. I went with 4 bc there really is so much potential here. Bottom line, increase attentiveness and decrease the music volume and we got a phenomenal restaurant!“
“We reserved 333 Belrose for a funeral luncheon for 30 people. From the first contact, Steve was extremely accommodating. The food was excellent, prepared to order & the service was impeccable. We could not have asked for anything more. We can't wait to go back!“
“I would give 6 stars if I could!!! Such a great addition to Havertown! The food is delicious, love the vibe and the service is amazing!!! The pineapple express wings were AMAZING! I saw some instagram stories saying to get them and our server Marissa (who was the sweetest by the way) sealed the deal by saying awesome they were- she was right!!! I am not a huge wing person and could have eaten 20 of them! The guac is so good and fresh; served with warm chips. My husband and I both got fajitas- shrimp and steak, soooo good! Also the cucumber marg was great, strong (not mad about that) and delicious! Adding this in because my husband is a huge sports guy- the Phillies ended and within minutes they put on March Madness games- no awkward gap where you're watching infomercials for hours (it is his pet peeve haha). So happy that Al Pastor is in town! Can't wait to return!“
“"Small plates" that actually aren't so small, small menu but which is expansive in flavors, and perfectly curated drink menu. Staff were welcoming and charming. When you dine here before dark, the sunlight beautifully illuminates this window-filled intimate space--such a lovely feeling. We particularly enjoyed the eggplant stewed in spicy tomatoes served with g thick cut toasted sourdough bread, the slow-cooked cod with fancy beans, and the grilled squash with brown butter--that sauce was a spiritual experience!“
“My friend and I made reservations for drinks on Saturday night (recommend making a reservation via Resy). We were seated upstairs, and it was busy, but not overly busy where you couldn't hear each other speak. We sat at the bar and had the loveliest bartender. The ambiance was amazing, and so were the drinks. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Philly next!“
“Stopped in for their Thursday 5-8pm happy hour, stayed for the go-go dancer and the all-vinyl DJ! This place truly is special, frozen in time. The historic venue/bar has so much charm and life in it still. DJ Hardbargain and dancer Butterfly Jones made the space so cozy and vibey! 10/10 recommend for a drink out with friends and a sweet spot to dance.“
“Good vibe and good food! I was a bit surprised by the portion sizes and how small they were, considering that I would say this spot is pricey. The menu is also small, most dim sum restaurants I go to have a vast menu and are relatively inexpensive. With that being said, the chicken wontons were the star of the show for me! Along with the green fire cocktail… MUST TRY. The shrimp dumplings were also delicious, and the korean fried chicken wings were just OK.If I go back, I plan on trying to the cheesesteak bao as I heard they’re incredible.“
“Had drinks and some snacks here the last 2 days, and it’s a fantastic place. The tempura green beans were perfectly fried and come with a yummy hot honey drizzle. I had Max as a bartender; he gave great service and we had a nice conversation. Overall really pleasant experience and a nice establishment. Come here if you find yourself by south st.“
“SCK hosted a big group of us for a book club and everything went so smoothly! They were supper friendly, accommodating, got us in and out easily without rushing us, were super organized, and the food and drinks were amazing!!! I hope we can host every book club meeting here! 10/10“
“Delish food - n of 3 times been so far and every time has been on point. Prices are definitely respectable (except $4 for extra pico) and the servers have always treated us nicely. Definitely recommend for Cantina food in the middle of Philly.“
“Came here for a girls-night-out/catch up with a good friend, since we wanted to "treat ourselves" to fancy, upscale, creative cocktails (rather than our usual dive bar City wide) - and this place did NOT disappoint. I got the gold dust woman (sage gin - pretty yummy, but not too strong. Simple and elegant.) and the Bela Lugosi's Dead (AMAZING! Gin, frothed egg white, and FALL SPICE!!). My friend got the Negroni, which was impeccably strong, if you're into that sort of thing (wasn't really for us). The bartenders were friendly & fun, and after 930pm the bar cleared out enough that we finally got a seat. Be warned- it's expensive at 12$/cocktail, but the ingredients and care put into their creations make it worth it.“
“My daughter found this place for us while we were visiting. While celebrating our anniversary. It's a nice spot with some very good food. Service was also good. I was a little disappointed in how they took care of an issue that happened, though. But all in all I would go there again when I'm in town. They're a little pricey, though. But the food is good. I had the Jerk Oxtail. It's spicy but good. Get ready to wipe your nose while you eat. Be sure to get that cornbread. Whew! It's good. The southern chicken strips are tasty also. Enjoy!“
“Food was great especially their empanadas. The service wasn’t bad but it was nothing to brag on. The place was a bit too crowded for me. I don’t mean crowded as in a lot of people but just too small. The tables are to close. The bar is directly in front of the door. Also if you’re one of those bathroom photo people, forget about it. Not worth the energy to find your good side.“
“I used to come here 30 some years ago when it was Sonoma. It has been several other restaurants through the years but this is the best by far. There are 2 bars. One on the first floor that has retractable windows to open up to the outside. Then there is my favorite bar upstairs. Light, airy, nicely painted walls with olive leaves and glass ceiling. There is a happy hour Monday to Friday, 4 to 6pm. All their signature crafted cocktails are $7 and they are delicious. Our bartender, Jeff, was welcoming and very knowledgeable about his craft. Love that they use a lot of local products. There are other drink options (see my menu photo below) and fun food items. We ordered 2 pizzas (shrimp and artichoke and the pepperoni). Both were fabulous.I will be returning again for their in house made pasta and I can't wait.Parking: People often think that parking is difficult in manayunk but there are plenty of options in the nearby lots if you can't get one on the street.“
“Nestled in the vibrant streets of Philadelphia, Charlie Was A Sinner. is a haven for those seeking a culinary experience that transcends expectations. With its inviting ambiance and innovative plant-based cuisine, this restaurant captivates the senses and leaves a lasting impression.Let's dive into the star of the show: the food. Each dish at Charlie Was A Sinner. is a work of art, meticulously crafted to delight even the most discerning palate. From the first bite to the last, every flavor sings in perfect harmony, showcasing the creativity and skill of the culinary team. However, I must address a notable aspect of our dining experience—the service. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, there were some shortcomings that impacted the overall enjoyment of our meal. In particular, our server seemed lacking in knowledge of the menu, unable to provide accurate information about certain dishes' ingredients. This became especially problematic when attempting to accommodate dietary restrictions at our table. Rather than consulting the chef or kitchen staff for clarification, our server seemed uncertain and unable to provide the necessary assistance.Despite this hiccup, I must commend the kitchen for their flexibility and willingness to accommodate our dietary needs once the issue was brought to their attention. Their dedication to ensuring a positive dining experience did not go unnoticed and ultimately salvaged what could have been a disappointing situation. In conclusion, while Charlie Was A Sinner. excels in its culinary offerings, there is room for improvement in the realm of service, particularly in staff knowledge and communication. Nonetheless, I remain impressed by the restaurant's commitment to delivering exceptional plant-based cuisine and look forward to returning for another memorable dining experience.“
“Really fun place for dinner. I enjoyed sitting in the greenhouse, which was heated and comfortable even with the chilly evening. We had the chef's special beef tenderloin which was very nicely prepared. On the side we had a beet salad which was quite nice and battered shishito peppers which were extremely tasty. Overall a great spontaneous choice, and I'd be excited to come back again.Vegetarian options: Much of the menu is vegetarianDietary restrictions: Much of the menu is gluten free or could be prepared gluten free.“
“I’ve now been to Cigar Republic 3 times in the past 30 days. Each time has been a great experience. The team there from the top and throughout are pleasant, accommodating and help to create a relaxed environment. The patrons are the same. I’m mulling over becoming a member.Suggestion, read the rules prior to going as there are no outside cigars allowed. That’s ok because their humidor room has a great selection.*while food is not served, they do allow for deliveries from surrounding restaurants*“
“Very happy with our dinner visit! Food was very yummy, especially the chicken karagee ?!! The ambiance was very nice too — we were particularly please that the music wasn’t super loud (to the point where we need to scream to talk to each other)! Service was great as well! Will definitely come back ?!“
“Stopped here to watch the Eagles vs. Cowboys game. The downstairs area was packed, but there was available seating upstairs. The atmosphere was great, the food was good, & the customer service was on point. Great spot to hang out & watch the games or just kick it with friends.“
“TIME is one of our favorites in Center City. Perfect spot for a pre concert dinner. Sophia was wonderful. Malbec and Pinot Noir were excellent though a bit warm. We had the deviled eggs, short rib (amazing), salmon, and side of Brussels sprouts. All were delicious. Somewhat disappointed the whipped feta is off the menu. Need more vegetarian dishes.“
“A serious gem on spring garden. The decor is warm and clean and the staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. The owners can be seen walking around and touching tables to ensure excellent service. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the fried shrimp was perfectly crispy while retaining moisture and the freezer martini is crisp, cold and boozy. Do not sleep on this place!!! My friends and I can't wait to go again.“
“Love the atmosphere here, it's lovely Great for coffee or tea Love getting a glass of wine or cocktail with friends in the PM Breakfast offerings need to be more extensive Dinner menu changed and not for the better Friend and I were just there and enjoyed the atmosphere and wine/cocktail but there was absolutely nothing we wanted to eat for dinner on the menu“
“Amazing food and polite staff, and a really lively atmosphere. I had a great hangover chicken and waffles (which was personally enjoyably much sweeter than usual at other restaurants, but you do get self serve syrup). However, I think choosing this dish over others here would be doing the restaurant a disservice. It was obvious that with only like three sweet dishes, you should just get their actual food.I’ll be back if I’m in town.“
“I had went with some friends to Chika Ramen Bar for the first time. I had originally doubted the food given the very interesting, futuristic, Blade-Runner-esque theme, though I was pleasantly surprised. Though I had originally, believed, all of this restaurant's pull had been contributed to the ambiance, the food was extremely something to die for. The miso soup ramen with chashu tasted fresh, new, and had helped ease my original concerns. The Karage chicken tasted tender, without any dry pieces. Finally, the servers felt down-to-earth, without them forcing you to leave in a hurry. The overall ambiance, service, and food were something I would definitely consider with friends again.“
“This is easily the best new restaurant in the area. And it isn’t close. We’ve been to Tommy’s four times now, and everything we’ve had is excellent. I keep track of things we order at restaurants and this is what I had to say:Awesome cheesy garlic flatbread; very good half bbq chicken; best French dip ever; awesome fries; very good burgers; excellent sweet potato tots with marshmallow sauce; very good pizza; very good Caesar (get extra dressing); awesome Cherry Coke ribs; excellent pulled pork; great chips (get side of bbq); amazing toffee dessert. The staff is amazing. Super friendly and attentive. It has a good loyalty program. We’ve already received some rewards. Beware though. It has a sports bar vibe and can get pretty noisy. The food is outstanding. I’d be surprised if they made anything that we didn’t like. Check it out.“
“Cool table tennis spot. I attended an event here and there was plenty of food and drinks and friendly staff. Fun environment so I would recommend checking it out if you are in the area. If you are from out of town, there is a parking garage right across the street but it was $30 for 2 hours so just keep that in mind.“
“The staff and owner are nice folks. Prices are fair and reasonable in this current economy. Food was solid, the French Onion Soup Dumplings were solid. Steak was solid. The cocktails were generally not my style, I prefer mezcals/bourbons/whiskey bases, but the flavor profile was solid; the Drunk Text was the winner. It’s a nice addition to the neighborhood. I’ll be interested to see how they grow in the near future. It would be nice to see a Point Breeze cocktail bar crawl between Dock Street, El Mezcal, Insatiable, Madira and other spots … the local spots could benefit from something like a city-wide competition (shot + beer + app). I would like to see more collaboration between our neighborhood’s restaurants“
“My husband and I had such a fun time here! We stopped in for drinks before our dinner reservation. The guys behind the bar were so much fun, and really helpful. I described what type of drinks I like, and they came up with recommendations for me. This place is a great addition to Lancaster Ave! We had such a nice time that we bought a gift card for a friend so they could come and enjoy. Can't wait to come back!“
