“We were in a hurry, and they were able to get us out in 30 minutes with excellent service. Chowder was tasty, even though not outstanding. The lobster roll has a nice amount of lobster meat in good chunks, but the spicy mayo overwhelmed the subtle lobster flavor. Plain butter or mayo would have been better. My husband had a burger and said it tasted delicious.“

“This Newport restaurant icon has been able to maintain its very high quality of food and service over decades. And having that in a true historic setting -- almost unique countrywide -- makes a meal here a MUST DO for Newport resident and tourist alike.“

“This restaurant was our favorite so far! Best bang for your buck and the food was delicious! The lobster quesadilla was enormous and the salads were so plentiful we could only eat half of our entrees! Our waitress Tracey was very friendly and super attentive! Will certainly recommend to friends traveling to Newport!“

“Amazing. Can't believe how long it took me to try this place out. Took Mom for Mother's Day today and we were fortunate to be able to slide into a 12:45pm opening. I had the roasted cod with white beans and the roasted beet and arugula salad. You must check this place out. Arguably the best restaurant in the area. Dad had the chowder. Loved it. Mom and Dad both had steak frites. Dad said these were the best fries he's had in years and the beef was of high quality, tender and cooked too perfection as was the cod. Service was A+. Far superior to any other spot I've eaten down here over my 52 years of life.“

“Such amazing flavors was a taste bud explosion! Definitely an under rated restaurant in Newport!“
“Much like the other reviews, I had a fantastic experience with Darwin. The mark of a good bartender is being able to make a great “bartenders choice” drink with your liquor/palate preference. Overall the drinks where great with the service to match. A go-to nightcap in Newport for sure.“

“Service was a little slow & We had about 20 minutes of waiting time despite making a reservation. However the food came out fairly well quickly once our waitress got to us & we made our order. The complimentary cornbread was good - not amazing but good! We got the bbq festa with the half roasted chicken since they ran out of brisket. The ribs, pulled pork and chicken were all very good. The brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries had good flavor but we're a little soggy. Perhaps less oil or high cook temperature to get them crispier? Would come back! But maybe earlier so I can try the brisket before they run out.“

“Alex was our fabulous server. We were a table of five and then six (all from Newport) that made Alex work! We sent her back and forth I can’t even count how many times. She was patient, knowledgeable and just damn good! Everyone of us liked our meals and the drinks were great! Great night all in all.“

“Great experience for my group of 8. We enjoyed having a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar with a seamless transition to our round dining table (love round tables!) which worked so well for keeping the conversation flowing over a beautiful dinner.“

“Stopped in on a busy night, the food was great, and the beer selection was very good. The bar staff were a bit overwhelmed, but if you have read my other reviews, I don't often consider this a big problem if the place is super busy. They got us our drinks as quickly as they could, and we were on our way to good food and good drinks. Definitely would stop by anytime I'm in town.“
“Had lunch with family. Ordered burgers as part of the Newport, RI Burger Bender. Burger was cooked perfectly and was on point. Jalapeño aioli was killer. Really enjoyed. Staff were very accommodating. My mother-in-law has difficulty with stairs. The staff happily directed us to park behind the hotel to avoid stairs. They had a parking attendant meet us and escort us to the restaurant. Very nice indeed. Lunch time was pretty quiet compared to the hustle and bussle of downtown Newport. Was nice and quiet. Very relaxing for us seniors wanting a quiet relaxing place to dine for lunch.“

“This was our first time here and we were on a babymoon, so it felt very special to dine out. The staff was incredibly friendly, all working together to make sure everyone was taken care of in the dining room. We sat in the conservatory which was gorgeous. Every dish was seasonal, highlighting spring veggies and it was great to have a lighter, healthier meal after the heavier fried seafood etc we ate during the day. Wonderful experience beginning to end.“

“The food was excellent and the service was friendly and quick. The calamari was crisp and the sweet chili on it enhanced the flavor. I got the scallops for my entree and they were seared perfectly, yet perfectly tender. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you like seafood.“
“The Westporter is a cozy little spot in the heart of Westport. With it being winter time, the ambiance is set with a fireplace and soft lighting. Danielle was an amazing bartender and absolutely on point at all times. I did not get a chance to try any food this time, but having attended their catering events in the past, I would imagine that their restaurant food would be just as outstanding as I remember their catering menu to be.“

“This is the kind of New England small town restaurant you read about in Yankee magazine. Breakfast is a full house and a mouthful, with huge, full plate sized pancakes. Plenty of elbow room in wide booths that look out onto the town common and its historic white steepled Congregational church. A few stools at the counter point you toward the kitchen. Outdoor deck dining under large umbrellas on nice summer days. For lunch or dinner, try the "dry" style fish & chips. Dredged in corn flour, your fish comes out golden crispy and light, not heavy and greasy like most places. Wash it down with one of their huge glasses of iced tea and finish off with American pie. Next door is Wilbur's, a classic New England general store that sells everything, including takeout food. Thrift Shop across the corner sells castaways from Little Compton closets and is worth a look for cool finds.“
