“This is the kind of New England small town restaurant you read about in Yankee magazine. Breakfast is a full house and a mouthful, with huge, full plate sized pancakes. Plenty of elbow room in wide booths that look out onto the town common and its historic white steepled Congregational church. A few stools at the counter point you toward the kitchen. Outdoor deck dining under large umbrellas on nice summer days. For lunch or dinner, try the "dry" style fish & chips. Dredged in corn flour, your fish comes out golden crispy and light, not heavy and greasy like most places. Wash it down with one of their huge glasses of iced tea and finish off with American pie. Next door is Wilbur's, a classic New England general store that sells everything, including takeout food. Thrift Shop across the corner sells castaways from Little Compton closets and is worth a look for cool finds.“

“Food is absolutely amazing!!! Mash potatoes are flavorful. Chicken and steak cooked to perfection!! Front of the house very slow :/ I'm we got our appetizer before our drinks! “First time in Newport and tried Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant for dinner. So happy we did great lively ambiance we didn’t have a reservation so we waited at the bar fortunately we found seats and enjoyed a glass of wine and a cold beer. Bogle Merlot was a perfect choice and my husband enjoyed his local craft beer. We had the Brie and Apple Bruschetta which was amazing and my husband loved his Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder. Definitely would return but make reservations. The place was very busy. Excellent customer service would highly recommend.“

“If you're visiting Newport, you must come to this place at least once but be prepared to fork over some $$$! Food isn't the best you've ever had but, overall, it's cool to be dining in a place that has been serving costumers since the 1600s! It definitely has that early America vibe! The menu and food items were fairly creative but wasn't executed really well. I don't think the ingredients or final product warrant the cost of the meal here. Again, you're paying to dine in this super old historic building - which is fun. I started with a smoked old fashioned with black walnut bitters and that was done nicely. The French onion soup was good and presented nicely but, I've had better. The duck confit with cassoulet and root vegetable was again, good, but just lacking in overall flavor. The duck was tender yet also slightly dry. The side of mushrooms were tasty and interesting due to the various types of mushrooms used but was a little salty. The Tavern Candy Bar dessert was the best part of the meal. The coconut magic shell took it over the top! At first, the service was a little slow and we waited a little longer than we wanted to for our main course. At some point mid-meal, another waiter took over and then it improved.“

“Food: Fantastic warm rolls, chowder and clam plate. Great daily specials for only $22 each. We had the pork chops -- they were so lean that, without any fat, the meat was tasteless. That was the only downside. But the portions were huge with 2 large sized chops, and very very generous sides of sweet potato mash and shredded brussels sprouts. Maybe we just had bad luck on the chops. We'd come back again to try something else (or for the appetizers). Service: Our server was amazing too. Forgot her name but she's a 30-something lady with short light brown hair. She was so warm and welcoming.“

“Shout out to Ivy and Mandy who made the four of us feel welcome as walk-in this evening. We are doing a Girls Weekend in Little Compton and after a day of shopping in Newport, needed some sustenance. Jade was our awesome server and had great recommendations and went that extra bit to make our meal special. All our entrees were terrific (salmon, swordfish, steak frites and mussels). Thank you!!!“

“Dear Steff and the team at Scratch Kitchen. Every single member of the team is pretty awesome and the food. Wow!I was introduced to Scratch Kitchen by Kevin at Innovate Newport as I needed to hire a catering vendor to support a conference. The entire process of working with Steff and Scratch was a partnership and nothing was too much to ask.On the day of the conference, the feedback from my delegates was overwhelmingly wonderful and everyone applauded the menu.Scratch Kitchen and Catering is a fantastic gem of Newport and I can’t wait to come back. PS: The Reubens Sandwich is off the scale ??“

“Great local spot, but not the most welcoming to outsiders. Had to wait 20 minutes to get a reserved table, servers were best pals with every table around us. The food was inconsistent; some dishes were great, some were frankly sub par. A great wine selection.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, at least for dinnerWheelchair accessibility: Not accessible.“

“Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Casual dining. We ordered the clam chowder and a couple of the fish dishes. The fish was fresh and was accompanied by choice of potatoes and fresh vegetables (baby carrots, green beans, and Brussels sprouts). We would definitely return.“

“Much like the other reviews, I had a fantastic experience with Darwin. The mark of a good bartender is being able to make a great “bartenders choice” drink with your liquor/palate preference. Overall the drinks where great with the service to match. A go-to nightcap in Newport for sure.“

Ashley was our waitress; very attentive and took care of us. The kitchen staff absolutely crushed it! Had the Spicy Poblano Hollandaise.... ??? Wife the Thick and fluffy French toast with eggs and sausage and that was delicious as well. All in all, 10 out of 10 for everything! We'll be back soon!“

“Lots of good food options on Thames Street in downtown Newport, Red Parrot is the choice. “Service was a little slow & We had about 20 minutes of waiting time despite making a reservation. However the food came out fairly well quickly once our waitress got to us & we made our order. The complimentary cornbread was good - not amazing but good! We got the bbq festa with the half roasted chicken since they ran out of brisket. The ribs, pulled pork and chicken were all very good. The brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries had good flavor but we're a little soggy. Perhaps less oil or high cook temperature to get them crispier? Would come back! But maybe earlier so I can try the brisket before they run out.“

“Always love coming here. Food is consistently good. Nice bar, warm and cozy atmosphere and great staff. Their specials are always good and their desserts are pretty delish. If they have the coffee cake dessert as a special definitely do not pass on it. You can have an expresso to finish your meal. so satisfying.“

“Incredible experience here! I was very hungry after a long day and it was a half hour before the kitchen closing time. I called ahead and they assured me If I arrived before 8 pm I could order and eat without being rushed. That's what happened. Parked my car in the large free lot. Noted the cozy ambiance. Ordered the New England clam chowder classic and the pan-seared scallops. Very tasty meal. Staff was friendly and attentive. Restroom was very clean. I will return when in the area!Side note: classic clam chowder is very rich. A lighter version as well on the menu would be appreciated.“

“Sometimes you just need a good burger and bar - and Malt delivered! Cozy bar/restaurant with an awesome drink/cocktail/beer selection - and was pretty packed at 830 on a Saturday night. I had the Malt burger and it was great / cooked perfectly and tasty with bacon, pickled onion jam, mustard aioli, etc - the kitchen knows how to upgrade a burger! Draft Beer selection was impressive - I particularly loved this Pilsner from VT. Waiter was great - and they must make a mean espresso martini - as we saw a lot of them coming out from the bar! Menu is varied - and prob want to try the cod/risotto next time. Great experience and loved the ‘whole package’ at Malt!“

“Amazing find for breakfast! It seems like a small mom and pop restaurant, very limited seating. The service was some of the best I've had! The food was quick and very good. Even prices were way below what I would expect in a tourist area! Kind of disappointed in the Hunts not Heinz ketchup, but I'll live! This place is worth a stop for sure!“

“My family and I vacation in Newport, Rhode Island each year. We enjoy breakfasts together during our trips and so we have tried several restaurants in the past, including the Franklin Spa. During our our visit this past week we noticed that the menu was different and there was a different vibe to the location. My suspicions were correct as we met Nick and Brittany, the new proprietors!! The food was great, lots of options and at a fair price. We enjoyed our breakfast so much that we returned the following morning to enjoy our last breakfast before returning to Philadelphia. If you are in Newport and in search of a place for Breakfast, I highly recommend the Franklin Spa. We look forward to returning in the future.“

“Stopped in today on an overcast RI day while enjoying an instate vaca getaway for a few days. Opted to try their Beef Stew entree (for lunch-lol) since I felt the urge to warm up since the weather wasn't the best today. Definitely the right decision. Huge chunks of beef accompanied by fully cooked potatoes and massive carrots. Paired with 2 warm rolls filled my belly and prepped me for some more sidewalk trolling.“

“Honestly for a tavern / pub. It's quite nice. They have a variety of food and drinks of all sorts and it's quite tasty. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Now remember this is a tavern / bar so don't expect a gastronomic experience. But if you're out and about with your partner and/of friends. Stop in for a beer and a snack. This is still New Port. So it's gonna go bad be cheap. But good enoughVegetarian options: Sprouts are fantastic“

“I remember coming to this place and it was old and it really needed a rehab bad. So I've been hearing about this place a lot lately. So my girlfriend and I decided to come here to have dinner on a Friday night. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The whole building had a makeover done. Looks really nice and differently a family atmosphere. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. The price is reasonable. But the portions were small. I had a steak plate with fries, and my girlfriend had the prime rib plate, and we had chicken wings for an appetizer“

“We stayed here four nights. We dined at this restaurant several times. The calamari wasn't as expected with the oil and peppers, but rather unfortunately was served with red sauce. The chocolate cake was incredible, velvety smooth with rich chocolate. Overall was a good establishment to have a meal with.Parking: Parking is located on both sides of the building and the restaurant is easily accessible once inside the hotel. It's located right through lobby opposite the reception counter.“
“Not a foodie place. The live music, friendly staff and customers , along with an overall positive vibe are the draws, along with the backyard beer garden.Recommend for those reasons, and did I mention live music Mon, Thursday eves, and Saturdays from 2-5..Sometimes "Pop--up bands occur, which is also great.“
“Had lunch with family. Ordered burgers as part of the Newport, RI Burger Bender. Burger was cooked perfectly and was on point. Jalapeño aioli was killer. Really enjoyed. Staff were very accommodating. My mother-in-law has difficulty with stairs. The staff happily directed us to park behind the hotel to avoid stairs. They had a parking attendant meet us and escort us to the restaurant. Very nice indeed. Lunch time was pretty quiet compared to the hustle and bussle of downtown Newport. Was nice and quiet. Very relaxing for us seniors wanting a quiet relaxing place to dine for lunch.“

“Omg homemade donuts!! Stopped by Ma's while in Rhode Island for the day and OMG we are thrilled with the quality and taste of their donuts! We ordered an iced coffee with tons of creamer- no sugar, a double chocolate donut, a maple frosted donut, and a Malassada ( Portuguese fried dough with sugar) They are all super delicious!! It is is 4 pm but the coffee doesn't taste burnt, the donuts and Malassada are still soft and fresh- not stale! The drive-through was super fast! The took our out of state debit card without any issues! The building is so retro looking! It's cool! The company truck has an awesome photo of "Ma" on the side. Even the paper bags have Ma's likeness on them! We would have gone in but we had to get going to be home at a decent hour. We'll be back! We love a wicked good donut!“

“Localz is a good meal at a fair price. They don't take reservations and aren't on open table, that's a bit of a downer, but overall you can't go wrong here. Try the corn and bacon dip as an appetizer.Parking: The parking is somewhat limited and you may have to park along the guard rail on the road.“
“Best clam cakes in Rhode Island. The clam chowder is delicious... but is more like soup than chowder to me. But that's personal preference. The fish and chips were so good! Sad that this is a seasonal place... but my waist line needs the break.“

“This was our first time here and we were on a babymoon, so it felt very special to dine out. The staff was incredibly friendly, all working together to make sure everyone was taken care of in the dining room. We sat in the conservatory which was gorgeous. Every dish was seasonal, highlighting spring veggies and it was great to have a lighter, healthier meal after the heavier fried seafood etc we ate during the day. Wonderful experience beginning to end.“
“The Westporter is a cozy little spot in the heart of Westport. With it being winter time, the ambiance is set with a fireplace and soft lighting. Danielle was an amazing bartender and absolutely on point at all times. I did not get a chance to try any food this time, but having attended their catering events in the past, I would imagine that their restaurant food would be just as outstanding as I remember their catering menu to be.“

“Sam at take out was amazing and SUPER PATIENT!!! He took the time to make sure our order was as gluten free as possible but then he even took the time to make sure my son (age 10) got the right sauce. My son doesn't like "spicy" and Sam went the extra mile to figure out what BBQ sauce he should get. I wish there was a Sam at every business! Thank you!!“
“Friendly service in a fresh, modern space. Entrees are a bit pricey for the size of the dishes, but each bit of my pork chop was delicious. Steak seemed like it was refired after being sliced - maybe it came off too pink or timing was off? Not sure! Really tasty gin martini, absolutely would recommend! Beer list was inaccurate - three IPAs listed but only one was available. Also, it never makes sense to me when local beer served on draft is more expensive than its canned counterpart, particularly when it's something like a brewery's flagship recipe or an easy pale ale. Am excited to see this restaurant's team get some more water under the keel and really come together - I'll be back!“

“Wonderful! We were greeted warmly and shown around the Inn, which is beautiful. Our room was the size of an apartment with a large French free-standing tub perfect for relaxing before bed. It was rainy, so we walked the beach a bit, hung out in the reading room, and had the best dinner in the Inn. The staff was more than helpful and welcoming to any needs we had. I was impressed by how G.M. Teresa greeted and spoke to everyone, making it feel like staying at a good friend's house. We will stay at the Stone House Inn again and recommend it to everyone.“
