After knocking out a few errands in Beaumont, I figured I deserved a little treat — I reached out to a handful of friends, but everyone was busy. So once again, I ended up dining solo… something that seems to be happening more often lately (probably means a little self-reflection is in order). But here’s the truth: it still turned into a pretty solid evening. I slid into a seat at J. Wilson’s, started with a Godfather cocktail — smooth, cold, and precisely what the moment called for. Followed it up with a great ribeye steak dinner and capped it off right with crème brûlée and strawberries (along with a second cocktail). Not a bad way to close out a long Saturday. Sure, having a beautiful woman sitting across from me would’ve been the icing on the cake… but you take the wins where you find them. And tonight, the win might just be ending the night with a good cigar and a quiet moment to breathe. J Wilson’s for the win. Service was great — as usual; and the meal was perfect. Now the food—ohhh the food. Waffles? Perfect. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—exactly how it should be. Hashbrowns? Covered, smothered, scattered—however you want it, they’ve got it. Eggs, bacon, everything cooked right in front of you. No secrets. Total transparency. I love that.

And the speed? Incredible. You sit down and before you even settle in—boom—food’s already coming out. It’s like a performance. Very impressive.

Now let’s talk about the workers—because wow. These are some of the hardest-working people you’ll ever see. Fast, efficient, handling everything at once—taking orders, cooking, serving—it’s nonstop. You’ve got to respect it. Big time.

And here’s the thing—they keep order. This is not chaos. This is controlled chaos. You don’t go in there causing problems. You don’t start drama. Not the place for it. These workers run a tight ship and they’re not playing around—they’re there to work and keep things moving. Respect the house, and you’ll have a tremendous experience.

Instead of telling us to come back in a few minutes, they did the polite thing (which is unheard of in today’s society) they told us we are not quite open yet, but we can seat you. “For the old school one light pool players. If you like the pool hall atmosphere of your younger years it's a place to hang out. Like the $5 per hour pool table rental. Drink prices are very cheap compared to Eddie's Tavern. Our dog goes with us so it's pet friendly. I am a regular there since Justin at Eddie's kicked me out due to contacting his boss about his abuse of power. Really great place to play and everyone is nice and easy to get along with.”

“Tonight the staff was serving some tasty well prepared food. I’ve been to this location before it was not like tonight. The kitchen was noticeably clean and the counter area was tidy. I asked for a couple of red pepper flake packs and staff was not stingy with those. The pizza was great, once we got home with it I was very surprised how well prepared the toppings were as far as distribution and quantity. Cheese bread was loaded up as well. Not one thing to complain about, used the app and got a coupon.”
