“Great stop for breakfast and especially pancakes if you are on a visit to Vermont like us. We were so happy to have tried some Vermont maple syrup before our drive to Boston. I paired my plate with a cup of hot Vermont cider that was cozy and delicious. Service was a bit understaffed for the breakfast rush having one person manning most of the dining room. However he was very kind. We ordered a second side of bacon for my boyfriend's pancakes and alerted the server of the same. He apologized and said that he would get it to us but it never came during the time it took us to finish our meals. I will say that one side of bacon ($4) might be enough for two depending on how hungry you are. We were stuffed by the time we were done after eating our huge pancake and sharing one order of bacon.“

“Great food. Sunday night early dinner 5:30. Took 20 minutes to be greeted with 2 small children. Risky. The beer selection was stellar, waitress was friendly, only checked on us once. The food was great. I would go back. Hope the waitresses can be a bit faster next time.“
“What a beautiful spot. Had a delicious mulled cider with rum and a sugar cinnamon rim. French onion soup was delectable!! My daughter absolutely loved the mac & cheese!“

“We were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar on a busy night and were very impressed with the food and service. The bartender (can’t recall her name but she was a redhead) was amazing- super fast, efficient and friendly. We thought the food was great. Would definitely recommend“

“We stopped in for dinner during our trip to Stowe. The food was really good. Our waitress forgot our fries and the kitchen had closed, so that was a bummer. She did compensate us though and that was nice. Overall, it’s worth the wait if you can’t get a reservation.“

“Came here after viewing the eclipse and sat at the bar. Staff were super friendly. The kitchen was understandably backed up from the post eclipse dinner rush, but they made sure we had drinks and let us know things were a little delayed (it didn't actually feel like a wait because the atmosphere was good and we had drinks).“

“Came here for brunch on a Monday morning. The food was amazing. You order at the counter and a chef brings it out. There was no one else there which was nice but the place seemed empty and the temperature inside was pretty cold.We got a quiche, the Reuben and French toast sticks for our toddler. The French toast sticks were a hit with our toddler and I really enjoyed the Reuben. The food came on metal plates. We also got two cookies on the way out. Chocolate chip was great.Parking: Big lot on the side and out back.“

“Had a wonderful experience. Our server was so fantastic. She is a GEM. Host was great, food was incredible. Absolutely NO complaints. I got the roasted chicken and my husband got the turkey dinner. We also each had a cocktail which were FANTASTIC—i got the grapefruit cosmo and he got the eclipse margarita. This was the perfect honeymoon dinner. We really appreciate The Whip and will be back.“

“We're lucky to have MCs Penalty Box located right next door to Umiak Outdoor Outfitters. It's been a wonderful and consistent choice for our staff to have lunch. Prices are reasonable for the area, and service is prompt and attentive. Overall, MCs Penalty Box is a solid choice for a casual meal in Stowe!“

“My wife and I had dinner there tonight for the first time and we will definitely be back. We both had the gnocchi and being a connoisseur of this dish and having had it at other fine establishments this was definitely the best. The sauce was delicious, mozzarella cheese not overly done and the outer edges of the gnocchi a nice crisp to it. The portion size was just right, I could have this dish every night. Bravo to your chef!!!“

“My friend and I stopped here the day before the eclipse. Both of us had Tavern Burgers with fries. The waiter (Mike) said he couldn't get mine rare, but it came less than medium rare and I was pleased. My friend also enjoyed hers, which was medium rare (as she requested). The fries were crisp on the outside and tasty. Service was fast and pleasant. Casual atmosphere with TVs set to sporting events and a gameroom. I'd go back if I were in the area.“
“Nice establishment, good atmosphere busy that day due to the eclipse weekend. Gathering of people I just got drinks tried a few different beers good selection of their own craft beers. Bartender, she was pretty rude. I get it. There was a lot of tourist in there. We are local, I get it was busy, but in the food and drink industry. Customer service is key and she was definitely short and rude. That’s too bad besides that good people good place.“

“A couple of things up front, one, (which I'm sure would have been fixed had we asked, so I can't blame the restaurant, but we were starving and didn't want to wait anymore) the over easy eggs were over hard and cold, the side of sausage was cold, and the poached eggs were over hard as well. Two, the price of sides is so not worth it, $5 for two sausage links? $7.25 for a side of cheesy fries? The rest of the food, though pricey--but for Stowe, probably about normal--was good. Pancakes were huge and thick, eggs bene (besides the above) was good, there was definitely an eclectic blend of old dishes with new twists, which is always fun, and coffee was hot.I probably wouldn't go again for a sit down meal as we paid $87 for four people, which any way you cut it, is a lot for breakfast, especially considering the first two points. The cashier was friendly, the place seemed pretty busy, especially for takeout, so maybe our experience was a one off, and you experience may be better.“

“The ambience was very nice and dining room looked beautiful. The food tasted okay but could have been seasoned a bit more. Our waitress was polite. However, I ordered the trout and instead was served salmon. I was never informed that they had no more trout. The waitress informed me later that no one told her they were out of it. It took a while before I got my food, and my 2 friends had already started eating and enjoying their food. One of my friends ordered beef and she asked for a steak knife just as she received her food. It should be customary to be given a steak knife as soon as food brought to the table. It took about 15 minutes before she received it. I do think there is clear communication and the food could taste better.“

“Came in the offseason and didnt have too much trouble securing a reservation, though i expect its much harder during ski months. We were very surprised and pleased with the skate cheeks, which i hadnt encountered before. Tasted like oysters with the texture of flounder. The hen of the wood toast was good but not super impressive, much more of a breakfast item than we expected, but had to get a titular item! The mushroom torteloni were good, and i was impressed with the braised rabbit (no bones!). The lemon cheesecake was a delight as well!“
