“It’s such a treat to get a come out a cup of Ice Cream Shoppe ice cream while you wait to cross the Wisconsin River on the Merrimac Ferry! Plenty in great flavors served up in waffle and cake cones! There’s nice tables to sit and watch the action and the service staff is super friendly!“

“My Husband and I chose the Old School House to host our wedding reception for about 140 guests and it could not have been a more perfect day. The owner Kristin and her staff went above and beyond to make sure our day was nothing short of amazing. Kristin was very responsive to questions and requests all through the planning process. She was very flexible and fantastic to work with, especially a bride that had a ton of questions! This venue included a cute bridal suite for my husband and I to spend the night in. There is also a huge renovated barn to rent as additional sleeping/stay for guests. My family rented this and the place was so cool and just a short walk to get to from the venue. The Old School House is so unique and historic. We received so many compliments from our guests that we chose such a neat place to get married. Kristin and her staff had the venue set up for us just how we wanted it and had planted flowers and freshened up the landscaping just in time for our big day. It was beautiful. There is a room downstairs for the ladies to get ready and the red caboose outside for the guys to get ready. Our guests loved walking around the property and finding so many cool spots to hang out and explore. There is also a little game room and playset for kids to enjoy. We also had late night pizza come out for our guests and everyone LOVED it! It was handmade there by the staff and it was delicious! Fully stocked bar and awesome bartenders that worked their butts off! Devil's Head Resort is just down the road for guests to stay as well. I could not recommend this venue enough for your next event - you won't be disappointed!“

“This place definitely has the cool factor going for it! Wife and I walked in for breakfast on Mother’s Day from our Inn that we overnighted at. Crazy cool atmosphere; I wish you were closer to home! Food was pretty amazing too! Thanks for the great coffee, and the wonderful service.“

“We stopped by for a simple ice cream treat and found so much more to enjoy! they have a wide variety of choices for ice cream, even Hawaiian Ice. We're surprised to find that The Merrimac Scoop has amazing pizza too! The thin, crisp crust is delicious! The Mac and Cheese pizza is a must have! Loaded with 3 types of creamy cheese and crispy bacon, it is just amazing! To top it all off, they have an all new picnic area that includes several tables with shady umbrellas and even a place to play bean bags. Definitely stop and enjoy all that The Scoop has to offer!“

“So, my wife and I have visited quite a few winerys. My wife is really into it and I just kind of tag along, although I have learned a little bit in the last few years. I have to say that the wines at Balanced Rock are probably the best I have ever had! They tasted exactly as they were described!I wish we lived closer because this would be a really cool place to hang out! The outdoors area is beautiful and very relaxing!“

“Visited Sauk City and area for a Saturday day trip from Delafield, WI. What a beautiful area, and we found this restaurant for a late lunch. What a fantastic restaurant! “Had lunch there on a Tuesday after hiking at Devil’sLake and it was fantastic! Waitress and hostess were super friendly and very helpful. We originally wanted to eat outside but after experiencing about a 35 mile gust of wind we moved inside. We had the Lollipop lamb chops with port wine reduction and it came with delicious sautéed veges. They were excellent! My friend ordered the Pear, prosciutto and Gorganzola cheese pizza which we shared and we both thought it might have been the best pizza we ever had and that’s saying a lot because we’ve had a lot of pizza’s in our 70+ years. Anyway can’t say enough about what a great experience it was. We will for sure be back!“

“Beers so good the first flight only made me more undecided.Drew is a master brewer, his understanding of the chemistry of beer and flavors shows in everything on tap. Even things outside my wheelhouse or liked flavors were hits.If craft beers are your jam then definitely check this place out.The food was amazing, not the typical bar menu for what’s around and it can be noticed that care is put into the dishes. My favorite is the empanadas, their house made chimichurri was a fresh and delicious.Friendly staff that knows their beers.Only thing I wish was better was my ability to try more beers. If you’re a beer drinker don’t pass this place up“
