“This little gem in South Milwaukee has great lunchtime fare. On my latest visit I ordered a BLT and my husband ordered a cheese burger. The portions are generous, and their fries are delicious. As usual, we split a warmed up house made blueberry muffin for dessert. When you visit, peek your head into the wedding venue attached to the bar/restaurant area. It has beautiful exposed brick walls and warm lighting. With great parking available, I imagine the party area is in high demand. This family-run business has brought a bright spotlight into our little town.“

“My husband and I used Tall Guy and A Grill for our wedding in early February. I can’t recommend them enough- the initial Zoom call was great, we really felt like they wanted to get to know us and our vibe so they could best match it. We attended one of their tastings and it was very well organized and the food was phenomenal- all options! It just confirmed our choices and made us even more excited for the big day. During cocktail hour, they made sure we got to try every app. During dinner, our lead caterer Betsy personally made sure we had drinks and apps at our sweetheart table and checked on us the perfect amount. Our guests raved about the food- especially the short ribs and maple glazed carrots. The set up and clean up was so smooth I never even noticed it. We had a special milk request for our dessert table and they made it happen no problem. We would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them for your wedding!“

“We walked in after a meal to play some pinball and had such a wonderful time. The Honeybear dinky donuts are so tasty and also love the classic cinnamon sugar donuts too. The small size is a perfect bite of dessert and allows you to try multiple flavors. Also absolutely love the 80s/90s pinball and arcade machines. Fun atmosphere and super friendly hosts! The number of attendees kept changing and Alexis and her team were so amazing with updating the food and drinks and bringing more items over at the last minute. “We had a great experience last night. Food and wine pairing was outstanding. Staff was very friendly! We have dined at many fine dining restaurants and we had a few critiques: the courses and wine were a bit rushed (they sat down our new wine when we weren’t done with the previous wine, I had to chug a few wine tastings), they didn’t give us spoons with a broth course so we drank from the bowls, and I didn't like we had to pour our own water. If you are going to charge fine dining prices then you need to offer fine dining service. I think the food could compete with the best of Chicago (Oriole, Alinea, etc) but just need some work on the service part to get the whole experience top notch. These are just little things that I’m sure will be improved when they move into the new space! We will return!“

“My husband and I had our wedding at South Second on Saturday and I can't say enough about the service from start to finish! Michelle was excellent to work with. She was very friendly, accommodating, and prompt with responses, including days she may not have been in the office. We worked with Katie on the day of our wedding and she was just as wonderful! Very friendly, accommodating, and efficient. We had our ceremony and reception at South Second and opted to have the guests sit at their tables during the ceremony with a few rows of chairs that lined the aisle for the ceremony. All of the service staff was just as friendly as Katie and Michelle. There was one gesture that says a lot to me as a venue and how much they really do cater to their customer and make sure they are having an spectacular time. Right as we were seated for dinner, the chef brought out a gorgeous board that contained 2 servings of all our appetizers that were served during cocktail hour. Such a small gesture, but so meaningful. The bartenders were amazing the whole night. Making sure to serve guests as quickly as possible, including remember some guests drink choices, which again, is such a small thing, but goes a long way. We received so many compliments on how gorgeous the venue was, how delicious the food was, and how kind and accommodating the staff were. I would recommend South Second to anyone who asked!
