“There are scores of places to eat and drink in Door County--easy and casual, high-brow and fussy, classic steak, lots of fish, and conceivably everything in between. Let me be clear: if you like good food (actually "great" food) and amazingly reasonable prices: GO TO THE INSTITUTE SALOON. Do it today, do it next week, just do it. I've been coming to DC for 40+ years. Last night was the first time I stepped in the Institute Saloon. Shame on me. Menu is extensive. We had burgers, clam strips, and hand cut fries. All delicious. We also ordered a box of broasted chicken to go. Best damn chicken I've had in a long time. Drinks were great. Denis, the proprietary was funny and friendly, and the pig-themed atmosphere is a hoot. Did I say the food was great and so affordable? Well then I've said it again. I've spent a ton more for crappy meals in Door County. Don't make that mistake. Add this joint to your go-to list.“
“Food & drinks: Great specials! Had the lobster risotto, was delicious! Wine and beer selection smaller yet fine. Hubby craved comfort food, he really enjoyed the meatloaf. The waitstaff and atmosphere so worth our hour drive and overnight stay.“
“The name says it all: a good, local friendly pub with a full-service bar and extensive menu of informal food: Burgers, Fish & Chips, etc. Service was prompt, friendly and effecient. A nice relaxing finish to a day in Door County. While it was not listed on the menu, they did have gluten-free buns for the burgers, which was a plus.“
“The Mango Fig Salad was huge. The best salad I have had in years .After 50 plus years, I've enjoyed many, many salads. This one clearly is 1 of the best. Also, my wife tried the fish sandwich. Again , it hugeHigh compliments the chef and the staff for an outstanding service and high quality food“
“Out of town for work stopped in for - burgers and a drink, bartender was very friendly and attentive. Our appetizers and meals (all delicious) came out fast and were very affordable. We will certainly return again! So happy to have found a place close to our hotel that was open on a Wednesday night and we enjoyed.“
“It was a very good meal. The prime rib was the best that I have had in a while, very impressed. I am a little disappointed that they did not have filet mignon, but they did well with the tenderloin. The lobster. It was slightly dry, but it was still good. I would certainly go back for the prime rib. It was that good... The shrimp cocktail appetizer was very good also.“
“This place was a perfect spot for lunch while visiting a friend up in Sturgeon Bay! It was lunch hour and the place was very busy but we were able to be sat right away. The restaurant was very clean and the server was very friendly. The place was pretty busy considering it was lunch hour so the service did take a bit. Unfortunately, my friend had to go back to work as soon as the food arrived and had to take her food to go. I ordered the Noodle Bowl with pork belly. Overall, it was pretty good! The pork was cooked well and it was a nice warm meal on a cold day! My friend got the fish tacos, which later she said were pretty good. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot to anybody visiting the area!“
“What a great family owned restaurant!! The service and food was excellent!!!! Nessa was a fantastic server and even told us a little history about the business and the building. Brad(the owner) was friendly and inviting, and all of the patrons at the bar made us feel right at home. Thank you!!!!“
“Held 4 yr old Grandsons Bday Party here and couldnt have been more pleased. They gave us plenty of time to decorate and get set up, ordered pizzas and they were able to accommodate both Grandmas one with gluten issues and one with Diabetic isses. Made gluten free crust and a no crust pizza. Kids loved the bowling after. Best spent 3 hrs in a long time. Thanks.“
“We were there on a Saturday night, and my husband and I both ordered their specials. I had Tenderloin with Grilled Shrimp, and he had the Prime Rib. We were both very pleased with our food - the steaks were done to perfection! This was our 3rd visit to the Nightengale, and we will be back the next time we're in Door County!“
“Excellent dinner! I had Tenderloin Oscar, it was fabulous! My significant other had the Ribeye, another awesome choice. Both steaks were done perfectly to our liking, and very flavorful along with the rest of our dinner! We upgraded one of the salads to the \\\"Signature salad\\\", which was just delicious. Andrew behind the bar was attentive \\u0026 friendly \\u0026 made us feel welcome. Thanks for making our evening memorable. We will definitely be back!“
“Great recommendation from a friend in Green Bay. Managed to get there in-between Friday fish fry rushes.Dined alone and was seated promptly by kind, young waitress in a more private corner after requesting that. Hadn't even taken a pic of the menu when my delicious, hot fish fry arrived at my table. Lightly battered and garnished with a lemon wedge, this was the best perch I've had in years. Paired it with a Dirty Shirley (w/Door County cherry juice). The place was larger and cozier inside than I anticipated. Will definitely return!“
“My wife and I eat breakfast here on a regular basis. The food and service are outstanding. The employees make us feel at home each time we visit. It's without hesitation. It's been one of our best dining experiences in Door County.“
“Wow what a fun place. Went there and had heard good things, but it was out of this world. What a great crowd everyone was friendly, service was top notch, drinks were great, and food was excellent. We will be back. A+ also the view of the water and outdoor area is worth the trip alone.????? Five thumbs up.“
“Went in for dinner on a Friday night. Had the fried cod dinner. The fish was cooked beautifully, it was very flavorful and the breading was light and crispy. This came with homemade potato salad, coleslaw, and rye bread, all were very good. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had. The service was fast and friendly. This is a cash only restaurant; however this is posted on the menu so you know before ordering.Parking: Nice large, free, parking lot, right next to the building.Wheelchair accessibility: Very nice ramp available“
“Greystone doesn't have the glitter of some other restaurants, but their menu is tops. I love the prime rib sandwich. My server suggested I should get it"open-faced" next time, I don't eat all the bread. .I have never ordered anything that I didn't enjoy. No glitter but sure does shine.Kid-friendliness: My grands enjoy eating there when they visit“
“We've driven by this spot many times and decided to try it while staying in Egg Harbor. It was REALLY good. Friday fish fry (perch) was great, the fries were perfect, and the wild rice chicken soup was perfect. They make a lot of things (ranch dressing) in house and it shows. I don't usually eat the cole slaw at restaurants because it's so often soggy... There's was fresh and light, really good!Kid-friendliness: Solid kids menu“
“Food here was fantastic. They were short staffed, looked like 1 employee in the front and she may have been helping cook too. But she ran! She was on top of everything. Good beer, haf a local amber that was excellent. Burgers. Fries, and nachos-great lunch and reasonably priced.“
“I've always thought Culvers was, overall, a better than average fast food place. I rarely eat fast food these days so here goes.Friendly serviceBetter than average fish sandwichGood friesCleanliness was greatWhenever you are in Door County and are hungry, Culvers is a top contender for great food.“
“Best Orchata in the Midwest! The Hibiscus Tea was a pleasant surprise. The asada (steak) burrito hit all the spots. The ceviche had a bright sweetness that matched the ambiance. The people were gracious and humble. Finally the pastor (pork) tacos gave me the impression that the chef commuted directly from Mexico on a mission just to make that one taco. I'm not worthy but Sunrise most definitely is. Don't pass them by if you're ever in or near Sturgeon Bay, WI!“
