“This small Korean establishment is in the heart of Japan Town in SJ. We ordered the Flaming Fondue Chicken, Bibimbap, and the Ramen Tofu Soup. Like every Korean spot, it's always a good choice to go family-style and share everything. This trinity combination of rice, chicken, and soup was excellent. The Bibimbap with gochujang was flavorful and included the 'burnt rice' so you're given an extra crunch per bite. The Ramen Tofu soup (medium spice) was a great compliment to the bibimbap. It wasn't too spicy and just right. It also came with a raw egg you break into the soup so it slowly cooks. The Flaming Fondue Chicken was not really spicy (although it says it is), but I guess it spice levels varies from person to person. The cheese on it was a neat addition to the chicken. The server also made sure to check up on us often which our visit more welcoming. Would definitely come back!“

“Food was 10/10! I was craving Vietnamese food and came across this place on Yelp! It's located inside a food court where the Lion Plaza is. It's cash only and the price is $20! They only have one thing on the menu and it's a Bò Né aka Shaken Beef Sizzling Plate! I thought everything was so good! The bread was so soft, warm, and fresh. The salad was beautifully dressed in a sweet vinegar sauce. The pate created a nice salty taste to add onto the bread and eggs. The beef was so tender and was paired nicely with a sweet sauce. The onions create, not only a nice crunch to the dish, but also enhances the flavor to the whole thing! I really liked the chili oil as well! I think this whole meal was very well worth the price and it's very filling too! The meal also comes with hot tea! I didn't really get to experience the service, but it was quick and simple! You just order and pick up when it's ready. The place is also open seating so you can sit anywhere. Overall, I would love to eat here again!“

“Not the best Phở out there as it is determined based on your taste. However, they cook to my liking so it is one of my few “go-to” Phở place. The service is exceptional. The vegetables they provide are out of this world - all you can eat without the EXTRA charge.I love coming here and has done it at least once a month if not more.“

“Santouka has been a staple of Mitsuwa for years, long before the pandemic. I always enjoyed their ramen -- no frills, nothing fancy, but hits the ramen spot. The bowls/portion size seemed to have gotten a bit smaller over time and are more expensive now, but such is shrinkflation. I typically like to get the shoyu ramen, which comes with two slices of chashu, a piece of seaweed and some green onions & bamboo shoots. They also have combos where you can get a small rice bowl alongside your ramen -- the salmon roe one is always a favorite of mine, but there's a few options including natto if you're a fan. I took my order to go on this occasion, and it was well packaged -- the ramen noodles were separate from the soup & toppings. And the rice bowl was in its own container. The plastic bag was tied tightly so nothing would tip over/spill during transport. And overall taste was still great for takeout and cost me $24 for the medium size ramen combo with salmon rice bowl. Not too bad for ramen in the Bay. Soup was a bit salty to drink, so I tend to save some for another meal and dilute it down by adding more noodles & water. Line wasn't too long this time around, and the orders came out quickly (they'll call your number). Staff member taking the orders was very friendly, but the one handing out orders to pick up was not so much. They used to be cash-only but now they take card & apple pay after the pandemic era. Seating is food-court style if you chose to dine in. Parking in the plaza can be a struggle but usually better chance if you wait for someone just finished their grocery run.“

“Order: Guava paloma (drink), Quesabirria, Enchiladas En Mole OaxaquenoBirthday Comp Corn Creme Brulee dessertReservations are highly recommended. We were seated quickly because we arrived right as they opened for dinner. Within 30 minutes, the restaurant was packed.***to keep in mind: rooftop outdoor dining is beautiful on a nice day, BUT the menu is very limited. Rooftop dining does NOT offer the full menu. So, if you insist on eating on the rooftop, be aware that menu options are different. To enjoy the full menu, sit downstairs in the indoor or outdoor seating. We had a very delicious dinner to celebrate 2 birthdays. Mine and a friend. We asked the staff for recommendations and we were not disappointed. The Quesabirria is made with LAMB, which is not the typical meat of goat or beef. I absolutely enjoyed it. My 1 and ONLY complaint is the consume. Broth, that is served as an Au gu. It was more greasy than brothy. The flavor was nice, but the greasy didn't allow me to fully enjoy the dipping. The Enchiladas were super mild. Take it from someone who does not care for spicy. The brown chocolaty moles are the ones I personally prefer, so it was just right. The guava paloma was refreshing and surprisingly smooth.Being that we were celebrating 2 birthdays, we were given a complimentary dessert. There was something intriguing about trying the corn creme brulee. Wow! I wanted several more!!! Interesting creation, but corn and sugar are common in Latin cooking. So, it wasn't odd but definitely different. When I went to the restroom, I noticed a few things and informed the staff. By the time my friend went after me, it was all taken care of. It is very much appreciated that it was handled rather quickly. The staff were very attentive and friendly even though it was a busy night for a weekday. As a 1st time guest, I was impressed and looking forward to visiting again to try different menu options.Disclaimer: cupcakes are not part of their menu. We brought our own dessert but couldn't resist the complimentary one restaurant provided.Parking: There are several parking spots right behind the restaurant. If busy, you may not find parking there and will have to resort to street parking or parking garage. Parking garage entrance is right next to Crepeville.“

“My husband and I lived in San Jose two years ago and came back to visit. This is an incredible and welcomed find. The beer was both delicious and made with unique ingredients that gave their beers a distinct edge. We didn’t eat while here but the menu had some great choices. We will definitely be back on our next visit.“

“The food here was amazing! I had the chicken suqaar with rice and my dinner mates had the Kay Kay (if you like bananas), sambusa, chicken suqaar with chapati, and the beef suqaar. We were all very pleased with our meals. The portions were big and even our largest eater took home leftovers. We plan to go again soon and try a goat dish. The ordering process, inside the restaurant, was a little wonky at first, since we were not sure what we were supposed to do. So what you do is: You go up, look at a menu at the counter, order, pay, then someone brings the food to your table. Now after being there once the next time will not be awkward , so no big deal. Also, the drink selection was modest, just cans of soda, nectar, or bottled water. The ambiance is simple and right near the light rail so you hear the trains. We were not bothered by that. There was outdoor seating in the shade, though we sat inside. None of us used the restroom so not sure if there is one and if so if it's clean or not. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly, but not too quickly if you know what I mean.“

“My numerous visits to Thai Soul Kitchen in San Jose have become a cherished ritual, thanks to the gastronomic delights that remind me why I fell in love with authentic Thai cuisine. Each experience is a journey to Bangkok's bustling streets, captured within this culinary haven's walls. The Pad Kee Mao, affectionately known as 'Drunken Noodles,' remains a highlight. The dish is a complex symphony of flavors, expertly executed to offer a spicy kick that is bold without overwhelming the palate. The broad, flat noodles dance amidst a medley of fresh Thai basil, vibrant bell peppers, and succulent chicken pieces, all wok-tossed in a rich, savory sauce that clings to every noodle. The heat from the chili is perfectly tempered by the aromatic herbs and the subtle sweetness in the sauce, making it addictive in its complexity. Then there's the Northern-Style Thai Sausage, a dish encapsulating Thai Soul Kitchen’s commitment to traditional recipes. Each sausage is a revelation, filled with minced pork that's seasoned with a curated blend of lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and a gentle heat from red curries. Grilled to perfection, the sausages boast a crispy exterior that gives way to a moist and flavorful interior. The accompanying fresh slices of cucumber and peanuts add texture and are a palate cleanser, enhancing the sausage's rich flavors with each bite. Thai Soul Kitchen is more than a restaurant; it's a testament to Thailand's rich culinary landscape, offering an escape to its soulful food streets with every dish served.“

“Long overdue review of our newest sushi spot. Our family has been going to the same sushi restaurant for more than a decade. That spot had a full house one night and the kiddos couldn't wait for a table. They were starving and are unforgivingly picky. Not a good combination when you're searching for a good sushi spot that can appease both choosy children and grandparents.Any exploration of a different spot had previously left us disappointed so we came to Sushi Pro with low expectations. Lo and behold, everybody was happy?! The grandparents loved it (appetizers and donburis), the kids kept asking for more (ikura, chawanmushi, and chicken karage), my equally picky husband finished everything he ordered (omakase, JT Special Hand Roll). I enjoyed everything. The fried squid appetizer and omakase are my favorite. Top it all off, the service is superb. We had A large party with 3 kids under 6 and the staff constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I liked Sushi Pro so much that I came back that week for a lunch meeting. Ms. Van, the manager remembered me and even asked how my kids were doing and whether they enjoyed the food. We came here by chance and keepcoming back because of the good food and great service provided by Van and her team.I am thrilled to have one more option and two favorite spots now.“

“A friend of ours was raging about this little pizza place he found in San Jose. So of course we had to check it out. The restaurant is on the smaller side but if you get there early, you should be able to get a table. They have a bar and TV's for those sports enthusiasts. The owner, and staff are very friendly and helpful. More importantly, the pizza was delicious! I love the thin crust. You can order what's on the menu or create your own pizza. We will definitely be back“

“Your typical hole-in-the-wall ethnic gem where the food is consistently authentic and very good. The service is also on point. It's nice to get a great Pho joint that doesn't require traveling all the way to Hanoi or even East San Jose. Highly recommend!Parking: Strip mall style parking so if the other mall businesses are also busy one has to park on the side street instead of the main lot.“

“I really liked my hot plate beef bolgogi. It was flavorful and adding their hot sauce tied it all together. Unlimited bonchon so don't be afraid to ask for more. Limited seating so I recommend going right when they open so you get in right away. My friend got the hot stone bibimbop and said it was a bit plain for her. I would come back to try the tofu soup it seems like a popular option.“

“I ordinarily don't leave reviews. But I saw the one on Valentine's day. I was there that night too. I sat near the person leaving the review. I know the person. (not well). I cannot believe they left this unfair review. Every single thing about the night was great. Food...great. Atmosphere...great. Service...spot on. Some people no matter what you cannot make happy. This restaurant is probably the best one to take your loved one. We liked it so much we went again on 2/24. Because we wanted to try some other food. Yes it is expensive. But it is worth it.“

“This place was such a staple during my college years at SJSU. Whenever I am in the area, and my schedule permits, I always stop by. HoBags or House of Bagels not only has delicious bagels and other food, they have such fast service! Usually by the time I finish paying, my bagel is ready for me. If you have never been here I suggest giving it a try! They have limited outdoor seating but on a nice day, it is so relaxing to sit and enjoy your bagel.“

“One of the.. sorry, the (ONLY) best place for pizza, at least in the bay! The perfect crispness and spice of their spicy vegetarian has been my favorite for over 5 years. They are very consistent with the crispness and taste over all these years. Their quality didn't drop even through the pandemic, when they were operating as take out only. However, off late their weekend crowd is unbelievable! So much so that they don't pick calls to take orders on these days! And recently, the pizza missed the mark as it was taken out a bit sooner with still raw-ish peppers and under done crust. But, I will still keep the 5 stars given how they have maintained quality all these years and given how amazing their pizzas are!“

“A fast paced, comforting cafe. Pro-TIP - Sit at the counter for parties of 1 or 2 and skip the waitlist Service: Fast - almost immediate, kind Food: The food came out so fast! It was definitely appreciated. I ordered the Protein Scramble ($18.50) with avocado ($2.50) and a side of fruit and sourdough toast that comes pre buttered. Overall, it hit the spot for my Sunday breakfast, and I was able to take some home for my Sunday snack. Plus: they have healthy, protein focused options, and they have a section for half meals at discounted prices (e.g. half a serving off an eggs benedict for $13). Drinks: Extensive mimosa, michelada, and alcoholic coffee options! My friend ordered the Hazlenut Mocha with Baileys and whipped cream - deliciously dense and that little twist of a taste from the liqueur.“

“If you're needing a nice home cooked meal served by the sweetest staff you need to make your way here! They have their own small parking lot right across the street, when you walk in you'll notice it's a simple/no frills restaurant. The best type of restaurant to be honest. They're only open for a few hours a day but they get BUSY! We were seated right away but there's just a constant flow of people in and out. I enjoyed the curry, ginger fish, and fish amok. Everything came out piping hot and fresh. The curry was nice and smooth with just a hint of spice. My favorite was the ginger fish. Such good flavor with the ginger, cilantro, and a bit of sweetness. Fish was nice and light. I also had the Cambodian iced coffee. Nice and strong. Most things priced at about 17 dollars a plate. Would def come back again and again!“
