Although we have been to the Gardens many times over the last 4 decades, this is the first time that my wife suggested that we take “High Tea” before our stroll through the amazing gardens... And of course it proved to be a wonderful idea as I relished every bite and sip (we also had the 3-glass “taster” which paired with the food nicely)... “Fern cafe is consistently wonderful at offering the tastiest food and drinks, a fun atmosphere where I feel comfortable taking my kids, and they have the friendliest staff that go above and beyond to make the dinning experience special.Today we had a mix of sides, the fries, Caesar salad and Chickun, with a donut. The salad is always so good, just the perfect amount of dressing and crunchy crotons with lots of cheese on top! The Chickun is outrageously delicious and the fries and donuts are my kids very faves.We are lucky to have such an awesome all vegan cafe so close to home!“

“Melinda’s Bistro is literally a hidden gem in beautiful Sidney, BC. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is amazing…especially their breakfast sandwiches and soups!!! They have a lot of great items on their menu to choose from, and their prices are on par…if not cheaper…than similar cafes in the Sidney/North Saanich area. If you’re travelling to or from the ferry or the airport, you should definitely check this place out!! :)“

“We had a fantastic dinner tonight. First time for us but recommended many times by friends. Food was great at a reasonably priced. I am celiac and there were many gf options and I felt quite “safe”. Our server, Raj, was pleasant, professional, and ever so friendly.* update for Celiacs…. I did suffer a celiac reaction post this initial review. Looking further on the web it seems they do not have a dedicated fryer (would love confirmation). My guess is that the pakora I had was cross-contaminated with Samosas, etc.“

“I walked in here on January 20 and ordered a red velvet cake slice and an eclaire. They were both absolutely delicious! That being said, I need to rave about the pain au chocolat (basically a croissant with chocolate filling for the uninitiated), a Paris breakfast staple, which La Roux also serves. I went to Paris in October 2023 and had pain au chocolat just about every morning. They were always delicious, as they should be if you want to serve food in Paris and do well. I unfortunately have not found that quality returning to Canada - until now! I was prepared to be disappointed biting into a La Roux pain au chocolat, but OMG!, memories of my first morning in Paris came flooding back! Absolutely love this place ? I will be back and encourage fellow Paris travelers to check them out and get their amazing pain au chocolat/croissant fix in!“

“Really enjoyed eating at Bean Around The World. Their sandwiches are delicious, and the coffee is top. There’s a lovely atmosphere, they’re very welcoming with friendly staff. Cool decor on the walls, and they played good music when I was in.“

“Stopped in on our way home to Nanaimo from Victoria. Very cool little ice cream truck in the parking lot near the Thrifty Foods. We had a couple of sundaes. The Strawberry one was very good, but the Black Forest one was amazing. The ice cream is vegan but you would never know. It didn’t have a strong coconut flavour which I do not care for. The prices were reasonable, comparable to other home made ice cream shops. There is a nice shaded seating area and you would never know you are in a parking lot. We will be back when passing though.“

“Oh my god, i was in the middle of a divorce when i came to Q Pizza in royal oak at 2:00am, not only did it clear my mind and help me solidify my choice to leave her and the kids, but it gave me the peace of mind to accept how great everything is and move to the Turks and Caicos. “Not what I was expecting but BETTER!!!! This place was amazing and the cafe was modern, bright, cute and spacious !! They have plant based mills which was the main thing I was seeking out. And many different syrups too. My latte was amazing!!! They have a full staff so ordering was quick and my coffee came out pretty fast too for having a lot of people. I recommend if you are in the area! They have a cute side shop in the store too with cute mugs and powders to buy etc.“

“Omg the cubed hash browns that come with the Irish breakfasts are 10000/10. Lightly crispy on the outside, deliciously squishy on the inside. The inside is almost like whipped potatoe, only it isn't because they're actual potato chunks. WHAT IS THE SORCERY?? Best hash browns I've ever had.The rest of the breakfast was mediocre, sadly.I've had the poutine in the past which was also mediocre...But they serve Smirnoff ice which is nice cuz it's my favorite drink and so many other restaurants don't carry it anymore. It's not posh enough maybe...Anyway, we eat here every visit to Victoria though because overall it's always a good experience.Parking: Parking garages are your best bet. Pretty much goes for everywhere downtown though.“

“Our first time trying this restaurant. We ordered online. The order was wrong (food allergies) as happens sometimes. We called the restaurant and they were very apologetic and remade the order right away and delivered personally. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. Will definitely eat here again.“

“We purchased a carrot cake and cupcakes (vegan and regular) from oh la la for my daughter’s baby shower. The carrot cake was absolutely delicious and moist. Not too sweet but sweet enough to make it one of the best carrot cakes I have ever had. Everyone at the shower raved over both the cake and the cupcakes. The vegan cupcakes were gobbled up along with the regular ones. The presentation of the cake and cupcakes were also a five star. Beautiful inside and out! “It is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the stop. If you're headed to the ferry or airport, you should take a little detour for a pre-departure meal or snack. Their specialty lattes are great and I'm sure all the other pastries are good. I only ever get the vanilla custard Danish and I'm never disappointed. If you go in the summer they also have in-house refreshers as well which are also very good. If they break into charcuterie it would be a perfect place for me, at least.“

“What an amazing place! I’m not from Victoria but if I lived there I would be going here weekly. We went twice in the 3 days they were visiting the city. Great food, amazing service (Ollie was our server and was fantastic), great drinks and selection. Best of all the prices were reasonable and they had a special dog menu for food. It’s so hard to find great places that are dog friendly but they go above and beyond to make pet owners feel welcome. Please keep up the great work!“

“My father is on a strict kidney dialysis diet and has a few other dietary complications that need to be carefully managed. In brief, my father is not the easiest to cook for. Every month for the past three years, Chef Laura has arrived at our house armed with groceries. By the time she leaves, the house smells amazing, the kitchen is spotless and the fridge and freezer are filled to the brim with wonderful meals. Chef Laura is attentive and diligent to every detail and accommodates my father's often changing and special diet requirements with grace and ease. Three years on, my father continues to eat wonderful nutritious food that meets his special dietary needs - and he refuses to eat anything but Chef Laura meals! The peace of mind that my family gets from knowing that my father is eating extremely well despite his health challenges is hard to convey. Everyone needs Chef Laura in their lives!“
