“Discovered this place when I first moved to North Van a few years ago, over a number of visits - it’s quickly become my favourite in the lower mainland. The food is delicious, the service quick and the restaurant is well kept and tidy. By far the best part though is the service. The owners and staff are incredibly attentive and friendly - despite going irregularly, I am always recognized and my order is remembered - which is truly impressive given how busy they are. It’s really a rarity to receive such great service in a restaurant these days. I highly recommend this restaurant!“

“If you are craving for dim sum but hate the crowd, you must check out 852 Kitchen. The tastes were definitely authentic and portion sizes were generous. The black truffle siu mai and shrimp dumplings had plenty of filling and were seasoned wonderfully. The HK style beef balls were bouncy and velvety smooth on the palate and the accompanying water chestnuts and cilantro accenting the meatiness to another level. We also had a great time baking the pineapple buns. From proofing to baking, it was exhilarating to watch the dough rise and their instructions were super easy to follow. Definitely the perfect breakfast item.“

“Didn't have my hopes up. I'm a highly skeptical eater at joints like this. I been around a lot of Cantonese food both good and bad. But dang, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was neither too greasy nor salty. We had a reasonably sized party so we were able to sample a wide variety of dishes from plainer veggies, soups and stronger meat dishes. Everyone always has their favourites, but each dish was done quite well. No complaints at all.Service was on par for these kind of restaurants ... so no, probably do not expect any Michelin stars here.Would recommend and I definitely wouldn't mind coming back.“

“Food court dim sum at very affordable prices. Their steamed rice wrap was very good, large and full of "liu", tasty bits of meat and mushrooms to compliment the sticky rice. January 2024: The combo with sticky rice wrap, 3 dumplings, spring roll and fried sweet dessert. was $11.50 and you can do a sweet item add-on (in our case we got the Mango Tapioca smoothie) for $2 instead of $5-$6.Decent dim sum for the lower price point so they get the 5 stars for that.“

“Claypot booth inside the Empire food court. Parking is available in the lot outside the strip mall. As Herman E. mentioned, this place is a misnomer. There are no snacks here. They have claypots. Lots and lots of tasty claypots. I had the frog one (in Chinese it says "field chicken"). Fairly decent. The dish is on the bland side, but it does come with a dish of soy sauce. Nothing wrong with that, just more of a warning. Generous chunks of meat, and everything slid off the bone without issues. Pretty tasty. Wouldn't mind coming back to try of their other claypots.“

“We have had dim sum and regular dinners here a few times and now it’s almost the end of King Crab KC season BUT a few other restaurants we called first could not positively confirm the availability so we decided to come back to Lee Garden BBY who guaranteed they still had abundant supplies. So a day before we ordered over the phone the KC set dinner for 4 ( for the three of us)Although we have been here a few times, we didn’t know any of the staff but we were still greeted by a very welcoming manager Wallace, who showed us our crab and I took a photo to compare when it returned on dish (heard too many scams in some other restaurants which swap crabs)…. It was TGIF and there were groups of happy customers and almost every table was enjoying their KC dinners!!All the 5 dishes and the soup included in the set were very tasty and in big portion….in fact we took home the last two fish dishes and the fried rice….they lasted for another two meals….)Our favorite was the garlic KC, but the salt & pepper KC was also very yummy. All through the dinner, another manager Roy and his team continued to provide very friendly service. Our wonderful Friday evening concluded with the desserts provided and the overall bill included tips and everything (no alcohol) was a bit over $600. Looking forward to return in the next KC season!“

“We had breakfast on a Monday morning:- 10am and there were people waiting in line. Good thing there were still a few empty 2-seaters available. Just party of 3 or more need waiting.- Surprisingly good service for HK-style restaurants. Waitresses asked if we need this or that even before we opened our mouths. Not just one waitress but two of them being extremely helpful and exceptionally polite. Very surprised.- Portion size is small in North American standard but considerably more than restaurants in Hong Kong. Taste is Hong Kong authentic.- Price is fair. $14.95 for a small Beef Brisket Noodle 牛腩米線 + Soy Sauce Chow Mein 豉油王炒麵 + hot coffee. $15.95 for Ham & Cheese Omelet 芝士蛋奄力 + French Toast 西多士 + Satay Beef Macaroni 沙爹牛肉通粉 + hot coffee. But if you factor in how much work need to cook these, then price is considered expensive.- All other restaurants in the plaza close on Mondays. Maybe that's why Van Tea was full when we arrived at 10am Monday morning.“

“Located just outside of downtown and east of Chinatown on Hastings, stopped in to try their dim sum. Traditional push carts and or off menu is offered, dim sum items were hot and tasty. The restaurant itself is quite large and tables well spaced out, came in on a Sunday and the place was busy but we got a table within minutes. Prices were a bit higher than maybe some of the other dim sum restaurants in East Vancouver and there's no discount. Lunch for two, 4 items and tea came to approximately $50 including tax. I will come back and try dinner, I did read somewheres that the restaurant's future was on borrowed time as the site is going to be redeveloped for affordable rental housing.“

“We had stopped through Vancouver on our way to Whistler and made a reservation here. It was a bit challenging for 8 people to reserve from the states as they don't have an online form or email. I had to get my Canadian cousin to help me book it! There is a garage attached so they validate parking as long as you have the license plate. This is a more high end dim sum restaurant that impressed my party as you don't see this often in Austin. But this was very reminiscent of places I've been to in Toronto. We had ordered a lot of food and learned very quickly their dim sum portions are much larger than most. We had a lot of leftovers but everything tastes great and fresh. I loved their siu mai and the BBQ pork buns. They also have a fried ha gow which was new for me. We liked this place so much we came back a second time after our Whistler days. We knew how to order less this time around, but we did also order a spicy crab dish which they showed us the crab before it's cooked. Very flavorful and fresh! Service was not bad. It was nicer the first time around. They didn't seem as attentive the second time and we had a language barrier issue too with our waiter. Both times they forgot something we ordered, so just pay attention to the receipt because they cross items out as they are delivered.“

The waitresses that greeted us were very friendly, and accomodating to us. Even though it's my parents 3rd time here, they regarded them as regulars and treated us as honoured guests rather than customers. We ordered their specialty dishes and they were all quite good. The chicken was very chrispy and you get an explosion of flavour biting into it. The egg yolk really adds to the umami of the shrimp, and the eel rice has a generous amount of eel.
