“This South African food is very unique. Their main thing is chicken flame grilled which is delicious you can try different flavours it has an awesome flame grilled taste ….prices are reasonable and the food here is delicious my office is just off lonsdale we come to this location twice a week. We recently got a coupon which was sent to neighborhood’s in the area and had amazing deals. Clean restaurant and the employees are very friendly. Would recommend everyone to come try this place.“
“Alloz Grill may just be the single best place to get brunch in Vancouver. The place is run by a very wholesome filipino couple that clearly knows how to do things right. For just $16, you can get 2 eggs, a crazy amount of garlic fried rice, and perhaps the crispiest, juiciest pork belly (lechon) you’ll ever eat! My girlfriend got the beef tapa, which was just as much food and somehow even more flavourful! It’s a 45 min drive from my place on a busy day, but still, I might just be coming back every weekend for this. The photos speak for themselves. Highly recommend, easy 5/5.“
“I can understand if the food came cold because the delivery was late. But my food and broken pieces of plastic were in the food and the pieces of plastic stuck in the potatoes were really dangerous. The food was delicious, but it was the worst experienceNevertheless, the reason why I give five stars is because I know it's not the restaurant's fault“
“Today, I enjoyed a delightful lunch with my uncle and his family. The service at the restaurant was exceptional, delivered with professionalism and warmth. I savored a delicious lamb shank served with fragrant dill rice, a culinary delight. The staff members were exceptionally kind, always wearing smiles that added to the pleasant atmosphere of the experience.“
“I don’t usually write reviews, but this is the best Korean BBQ I have ever had. I’ve lived in and tried Korean BBQ in places like Korea, Toronto, California, and NYC, but this was by far the best, especially for the price. The side dishes were delicious, the meat was high quality, and the service was amazing.Vancouver is very lucky to have Kook!“
“One of my favorite places to go to when craving korean bbq! The food here is absolutely delicious and the server is extremely friendly and kind! The restaurant itself is also clean as well! I highly recommend this place and anyone should come and eat here sometime :)“
“Had japchae, and sooda half classic, and all in all food was delish, so was ambiance and service. However they do not give you a refill on the kimchi which is the not so cool part of a Korean Restaurant. They charge 2.99 for extra side plate of kimchi. All in all good experience, will come back if I can't find another Korean Restaurant open in Gas Town.“
“Second time here and was very impressed - better than I remembered.Food 5/5 the crudo and suck carbonara were amazing, my partner also loved the semifreddoAmbiance 5/5 artistic and nostalgic. Clean and beautiful bathroomService 5/5 attentive and niceReturn likelihood 5/5“
“We visited the Chinatown BBQ restaurant during our trip to Vancouver and my oh my!! The food was delicious! We got the 2 meat combo with rice and the fried rice. The roasted pork could very well be one of the tastiest I’ve ever consumed! A must visit when you are in Vancouver.“
“We walked by after getting our nails done at Charming and this restaurant smelled SO GOOD that we couldn't resist going in for lunch. Now we make it a date, nails in one spot, lunch in the other! Amazing coffee, super tasty dishes, wonderful friendly service and an amazingly upbeat ambiance. Traditional Eastern European food from Serbia and surrounding peoples! Nice clean bathroom too!Parking: About 8 spots shared in the three-business complex. Free street parking as well!Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor parking and entrance.“
“The food was so good, we ordered Sooda spicy pork. It was a big portion enough for two ppl. You don’t need to order extra rice for that. I didn’t know it. We ordered extra kimchi fried rice. We needed to pack it togo. Two servers did very great jobs. They came to fill my water glass more than three times plus they helped us to mix rice in the pan. I would recommend this place for my friends.“
“Great place to order chicken from! I have been a loyal customer here for 2 years now, i have been ordering from uber eats. This is the best location so far!!! Never gonna cheat on this location anymore. Best chicken, big servings, always always fresh and hot food. Zero complaints!! 2 servings of boneless chicken feeds my family of 6! Highly recommend. Don’t order from other locations, only this!!!“
“The food is excellent and you can order refills for the side dishes . But keep in mind that the place is small so you might have to wait for a while but it won’t usually take too long. Most of the food is spicy so if you don’t prefer spicy food then you might have to tell them to make the food without the spicy stuff.“
“During my recent visit to Gyukaku, I was delighted by the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment I entered, the staff members exhibited a warm and attentive demeanor, ensuring a pleasant dining experience throughout. The highlight of my meal was the set menu, which exclusively featured various cuts of beef for grilling. The portions of beef were notably generous, allowing meat enthusiasts to indulge in a flavorful feast. The different cuts provided a range of textures and flavors, showcasing the quality and expertise of the restaurant's selection. However, it is crucial to note that the overall taste of the beef was on the saltier side.Despite the saltiness, my overall experience at Gyukaku was positive. The exceptional service, coupled with the generous portions of beef offered in the set menu, contributed to a satisfying dining experience. If you are a beef enthusiast and appreciate Japanese-style grilled meats, Gyukaku is worth considering. Just be aware of the saltier flavors and plan accordingly to suit your taste preferences.“
“I liked it, however it misses some vegetarian options. I had to stay with corn cheese and rice as there wasn't an option of vegetarian barbecue with veggies or something similar. I would say it is "tá bom" (it's good) but it's not "tá ótimo" (it's great)“
“A nice restaurant with delicious dishes for a very decent price. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat eater you'll find what you like. We had the vegetarian (paneer) and chicken momo, the vegetarian chow mein and szechuan rice with chicken.“
“Hands down, best izakaya place in Vancouver. Love the cozy atmosphere! It absolutely reminds me of the Izakayas in Roppongi Hills and the food has all the authentic ingredients used in Japan with consistent quality and taste. The only thing is the cost has gone up after COVID but it’s understandable because of the negative setbacks it had on businesses! I would recommend coming here for a date night or party; overall, a great and fun place to go to.“
“As an absolute food crazed individual I have to say Chef Han's restaurant Kosoo + Raw Bar is one of my favourite restaurants, here and abroad, so far. The chef was away for a while, on his return we visited and it was brilliant as usual. I have never been disappointed only always impressed beyond my expectations. Welcome back Chef Han!“
“Had a long time ago kebab dinner tonight. I’ve bought takeaway mutton skewers before. When they found out it was my birthday today, they gave me a big bowl of longevity noodles. We ordered mutton skewers with fried rice, mutton skewers, chicken wings, grilled buns...every dish was delicious. Although they are very busy, the service is very good. We will visit again.“
“For grilled chicken, we ordered Secret BBQ, Honey Butter Garlic Fries and Roseto! They also added rice cakes and ramen to the roasted chicken! It’s really delicious! The roasted chicken is so delicious and juicy! The cheese flavor of Rosetto is really strong! However, I felt a little tired towards the end of the meal. There was no waiter to be found throughout the entire journey, and the service was average. The price is really super cheap! Less than 20 before tip!“
“I ordered the pooled pork platter and chicken wings. The "platter" was basically a cup of bbq sauce with a little pork. The chicken wings were probably from a chicken stroke by famine, completely dry. Too expensive for the portions. Would not recommend....“
“Came here for AYCE sushi for $38.Overall the toppings were high quality. Fish cake and shrimp was fresh, veggies were fresh, and the meats were good quality served on a plate of ice.Broth was a bit disappointing. Both the white pepper and the Szechuan broth had no flavour to soak the meat, could have used more salt or richness. Tom yum broth was great however. And there’s also sauce provided to dip your meat.Service was decent, and you can get ice cream to end your meal on a sweet note.“
“Went here for birthday dinner with friends, ordered the family platter and full rack of ribs. The platter was not as big as we thought and the ribs are better on the full rack dish than in the platter. Recommend order regular dish separately and share it with the whole table.“
“Best western BBQ I’ve had in the city. The atmosphere is quaint but very cozy and the owner makes everything himself. We splurged on the full platter as a group of 3 to give everything a try and everything went beyond what I could’ve ever imagined: the ribs are so tender and fall perfectly off the bone, the brisket and chicken are both incredibly juicy, and the pulled pork is just perfectly flavourful (and not too dry!)All sauces really elevated each every single dish, would absolutely come again.Notes: reservation required, call or email. Orders could take some time since everything is made immediately to-order. Great meat takes time and man is it worth it. Thank you Marc for such a terrific experience!“
“The tasting platter let's you try a variety of different cuts of meat for the price and definitely recommend trying if you don't have any particular cut you want to go for. Biggest recommendations is 100% to get the wagyu oil rice which was super flavorful.“
“Our new favorite Korean place! When it's date night for my husband and I, we usually go for Korean. We've frequented many Korean restaurants and Sumi just hit to our favourite one! The soups are incredible (great spice and flavours) as well as the fried chicken wings are crispy and meaty. We are looking forward to coming back again soon to try other dishes. It's clean, quick service and the food is fresh and well made! ?“
“Last-minute plans for my dad's birthday led me to Yo-Bones. I remember having their pulled pork with mac & cheese a couple years ago from their food truck, and I couldn’t wait to try them again. Despite the spontaneous visit, Yoshi at Yo-Bones went above and beyond to accommodate our party and treated us to a feast fit for a king. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of smoked meat filled the air. I ordered an array of BBQ delights, including pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, and beef brisket, all cooked to perfection. The standout star of the meal was undoubtedly the mac & cheese, boasting a creamy texture that melted in your mouth with every bite. Paired with the savory cornbread, it was the ultimate comfort food combination. The BBQ sauce served alongside the meats was the perfect balance between tangy and smoky flavors that complemented the meats beautifully. Each bite of the tender and soft meat was a testament to the skill and dedication of the pitmasters.Everything we tried at Yo-Bones was a delight to the taste buds, leaving us craving more even after our plates were empty. We were too full though! The service by Yoshi was exceptional, yet warm.Without a doubt, I will be returning to Yo-Bones in the near future and recommending it to all my friends and family. 10/10 would recommend.“
“My girlfriend really likes Korean food and wants to enjoy Korean food culture. We went for her birthday and this place went due to very different ‘Reviews’ than a few years ago.Parking is available on the street or in the space behind the store, and can be easy or difficult depending on your luck.I ordered a variety of dishes for her that day, and among them, my girlfriend and I really liked and were satisfied with her ‘Galbijjim’.The staff were very friendly and very nice. Also, the restaurant was very formal. The ‘Japchae’ I ate at the time had overcooked noodles and a different taste, and the taste of the ‘Gamjatang’ was ‘slightly below average’.‘Galbijjim’ was a little greasy, but very tasty and soft.Above all, the side dishes here are very delicious and diverse.“
“Friendly service and delicious chicken. The Galbi Q boneless was really good. Not over sauced, very crispy, and succulent juicy meat. Balanced savory, sweet flavor with a hint of smokiness.Hot Crispy wings were also good, but a few pieces were super tiny.“
“I normally find steamed buns kind of slimey. But these were sooooo good. I got the bbq pork and it was great. I ate it so quickly I went back in to get another. The nice lady behind the counter asked me if I wanted to try a different kind. She recommended the spicy beef it was even better. Great experience, great vibes. Very wholesome energy.“
“Happy Valley boasts not only delightful food but also a captivating atmosphere. With two distinct areas catering to both Dim Sum and Hong Kong Style cuisine, it's a culinary haven that beautifully balances flavors and ambiance. Truly an impressive dining experience!“
“I love coming here for dine in. There is a good variety of options for BBQ as well as cooked menu. The menu size is just right and not overwhelming. Great selection of side dishes and salads that come with your meal. They don’t take reservations and is first come first serve.“
“Been going to Memphis blues since I was a wee lass. Never disappoints.Recently got the Memphis feast for me and my partner and we got to take home a ton of leftovers which made amazing sandwiches etc for several days afterwards. The turnaround time from us ordering to the food being infront of us was incredible and all the meat was fall off the bone perfect.“
“Fantastic dining experience. Our server Sherry was incredible. Sherry was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and never made us feel rushed while maintaining timely service. The food was spectacular. They say everything is made in house. You are served proof of that with every course. Thank you LuLu Kitchen for a great meal!“
“I came here with a friend for lunch and my first impression was I appreciated the decor, and the chalkboards! Also the waitresses were very kind. The mini flower arrangements on each table were such a nice touch ? The food was so so good, my friend and each got one of the 2-meat-platters. Generous amount of food, extremely tasty, we both left satisfied. I appreciated the variety they have on the drink menu as well. I look forward to coming back!“
“a BBQ Place…In the Asian culture, BBQ meats play a big role especially during special holidays and occasions; use often for praying and offering before become yummy to the tummy. This place has been the few BBQ places I frequent quite a bit over the last decade and probably one of the top 5 Chinese BBQ places in the greater Vancouver area according to some. There is always a lineup here from opening till closing and insanely crazy during special Chinese holidays. The exceptional quality here comes with a little higher price tag. The skillful cutting of the meat and presentation does show quality and wouldn’t be an embarrassment to your guests.I think all the whole suckling piglets, BBQ ducks and free range soy chickens I ordered here over the years are enough for me to start 2-3 farms myself. Here were the BBQ I ordered last time;1. One whole BBQ squid. Fresh and tender, not my thing but relatives liked it.2. Free range soy chicken. Nicely done, like it when eating it with ginger and green onion sauce. (Paid extra for more ginger and onion sauce but never got them lol)3. Roast pork (3 bones). I always preferred with the actual bones because I always find meat more tasty when bone in (my mom always think I am crazy paying for bones lol)This place is located inside Parker Place Center, quite compact and the lineup gets pretty long during peak hours (don’t try to cut in line, you’ll get a mouthful from the aunties lol). The service is pretty basic like most BBQ take out places so don’t expect a hug and kiss from anyone. Just go hug and kiss your meat! The food here is okay. I tried ordering a whole suckling piglet the same day but to no avail, therefore, always order such items in advance. I just have to settle with what they have. Like I said, the price here is a bit higher than your average BBQ place, about $140 for what I ordered this time around.“
“Mission accomplished... I've finally found good BBQ in downtown Vancouver. The meats (brisket and pulled pork) were excellent. I had great service and quick! Overall will likely become a regular visit for me when in Vancouver. 2024 update (5 years later) : still great!“
“Ordered pickup / takeout a couple days ago.The food was very good and satisfying. The prices are quite fair too. The people were very nice when we picked it up.At the time, I was feeling a little bleh so I ordered some Plain Congee and it was exactly what I needed right then. Fully settled my stomach and soothed my throat. Recommend for anyone under the weather to get some of their plain congee and a good nap. We also got the West Lake soup. It was tasty and filling.Dietary restrictions: I have a million food allergies and even I found more than several items that worked for me.“
“Yesterday, I went to his house for dinner with my friends. Overall, it was very good. The beef and lamb skewers are always delicious! Especially recommend the cold skin, tinfoil sauerkraut and squid skewers, they are really good? The only drawback is that the cup is often not washed clean, and there is a smell of medicine. In addition, the credit card fee is a bit small.“
“Friendly staff and very knowledgeable in their line of products. They gave us a lot of advices since we were buying seafood to bring to our family who lives oversea. They offered to help us keep them in the tanks until closer to the time we fly and we really appreciated it. Their prices are relatively cheaper than most markets so check it out if you need to buy bulks of seafood.“
“Free surface parking @ the Amazing Brentwood. Paid underground parking. Accept cc. Long lineup when it had their grand opening. I went there again recently on a weekday and there was no lineup and no wait. 3 ladies working behind the counter. Minimal interaction but the servers remained polite. Price justified by the portion and food quality. Fair to say that they maintain the quality of food (by food court standard). I don't mind to come back again.Parking: Free surface parking @ the Amazing Brentwood. Paid underground parking.“
“When they first opened, we dined in a few times for lunch...could be quite busy during peak hours...so we would arrive a bit after 1:30p.m. (easier to find parking too)OurThen we continue to buy take out every few weeks....as the food is tasty ....with lots of varieties....price reasonable...and most important of all.....they are very open so the customers can look through the glass windows when they are chopping up various BBQ meats....unlike in some other restaurants where customers may complain about missing pieces of meat. Our favorite take out include BBQ Port, chicken (both ginger or soy), roasted park with crispy skin, roast duck, BBQ ribs etc etcToday we got half a roasted duck ($22), a big box of duck wings ($10), and a small of BBQ ribs ($8). See photo“
“This is the second branch in the city, the first is in Richmond. On both places, the food is great! It could be a little pricy, around $80 for 2 people, but the food is very nice! The ambience and staff are very good as well! They have both dine-in and take away. Oh! And you should try the Durian pastry! Really good!“
“Excellent authentic BBQ. Portions a bit smaller then expected so be prepared for larger orders. But flavour is good. The weekly special clams were a treat!Kid-friendliness: Yes, but be considerate of spice level when ordering if not used to it“
“This time, the Alaskan King Crab is $268/about 8 pounds/for three meals, plus two more crabs to serve seven people, and comes with soup and dessert for dinner.I can’t believe that this small restaurant has high-quality food. There is no dryness or bitterness in the mouth after the meal. MSG should not be used?“
“Really there's nowhere better for indulgent, gargantuan takes on old school western classics - lumberjack breakfasts, loaded burgers that throw in the kitchen sink, and so on. Vancouver's oldest restaurant keeping it real and keeping bellies full since 1926. Fun gimmicky design, doesn't take itself seriously at all. Whatever the opposite to pretentious is.“
