“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!”

“Absolutely authentic Guizhou cuisine and well worth making a special trip for.
While we were eating, a salesperson happened to come in trying to sell the restaurant pre-made seasoning packets. The owner firmly turned them down and explained that they ferment and make their own seasonings in-house. That little moment said everything about how seriously they take their food—and you can really taste the difference.
The flavors are bold, complex, and genuinely Guizhou: sour, spicy, aromatic, and incredibly well balanced. Honestly, even in Shanghai, it’s not always easy to find Guizhou food this authentic.
The lady who took care of us was also incredibly warm, gentle, and attentive throughout the meal.
If you love Guizhou cuisine—or simply want to experience what authentic Guizhou food should taste like—Hengry is absolutely worth planning your itinerary around. I would definitely come back.”

“We had dinner at 鹵億鮮 Luyixian in Alhambra last night and really enjoyed it. The food tasted authentic, comforting, and full of flavor.

I ordered the braised beef noodles, which is one of their best sellers, and it was really good—the beef was tender and the broth was rich and flavorful. My wife had the beef brisket with rice, and she really enjoyed hers too.

We’ll definitely be coming back. Another big plus is that they’re open late, so it’s a great spot if you’re looking for a good late-night dinner in Alhambra. Highly recommend!”

“If you do not like spicy food, this is not the place for you. If you do, you will be treated to a wonderfully delicious meal. Plenty of street parking, attentive service and accommodating groups 6-8 easily. Ordering is done through your phone. Make sure to order rice as it does not come with the dishes. My favorite is the green beans, best I ever had and I am a meat lover. The chef specialty fried chicken is amazing. The beef and noodles. If you get the happy chicken or toothpick lamb it is heavily cumin flavor so just make sure you like it. I love after 15 mins of eating the water taste like sprite! Such a wonderful time. Would always come back here”

“The service was COMPLETELY unacceptable. An employee was rude, speaking in a language I can’t recognize and started yelling at me simply because I didn't understand what she was trying to say. Why get angry and keep screaming when customers don't understand? This business is located in LA—if an obvious communication barrier happens, staff should try to bridge it instead of continuing to yell in the same language at a confused customer. I can't believe I was treated this way. Do we now need to learn EVERY LANGUAGE ON EARTH just to get basic service?”

It's inside of the parking lot entrance to volley blvd.The noodles of choice was spicy and sour noodle soup with beef, quail eggs, carrots and corn - 4/5Curry soup base with beef - 4/5Fried dough - taste like red bean inside. “Haven't heard of this place before and came to try with friends on a Friday evening. There was no wait and they have plenty of tables inside and a small outdoor patio as well.

We ordered the oxtail pho, Charbroiled beef tiny vermicelli, Charbroiled pork rice plate with steamed egg and pork skin, and pan fried rice crepe with pork and shrimp. Food was served pretty fast and employees were friendly.

The pho portion was really big with generous amount of noodles that we couldn't finish. The broth tasted good and flavorful. The tiny vermicelli was great, tasted like other Viet places I have been too and the egg rolls were really gooe. The pan fried rice crepe was also great. It was my first time trying this dish but it tasted good with the crepe, pork, and rice together. The rice plate was disappointing though since the steamed egg was a bit dry and not very flavorful so it did not taste good. The charbroiled pork was also dry and small portion compared to how much of the pork skin they gave. The pork skin also was so chewy and not good as well. I tasted better broken rice so wouldn't recommend ordering it from here.

Overall, this tasted like an authentic Vietnamese place for pho and other specialties. I would not recommend the broken rice plates here though.”

“We've watched videos and only dreamed of trying Uyghur cuisine. But today we actually experienced it and we were excited, amazed and satisfied. The quality of the food at this restaurant was exceptional. The flavors were great and the service was also good.
We literally asked for a spoon to savor the last of the delicious sauce from our lamb stew. Yum!
And the, I think they are called samsas, they were hot and fresh.
We were thoroughly impressed with the freshness of the food even though the food arrived quickly to the table.
We can't wait to visit again:)

“Updated: I've been to this spot for years and it's still excellent. The base price is $32.99 but if you go at non-peak times you can save money. I still think you can get a great deal at that price point. Efficient service and great food as always.

WONDERFUL! This was my first all you can eat Korean BBQ experience. We came at 7pm and was ahead of the Saturday rush crowd, so we were seated right away. They have two price points with $22pp for the regular menu, which we opted for, because it had over 20 options on it! They bring you 3 selections at a time, and after you order more, the selection portions are halved so you don't waste food. Every single piece of meat was delicious, but the Beef Bulgogi and the Brisket were my favorites. The shrimp were a little hard to eat because they were on the small side and hard to pull the shell off. They also have 2 stations with hot items (appetizers, glass noodles/vegetables, mushroom/broccoli, wings, soup) and cold items (salad, onion/mushrooms for cooking, lettuce wraps, fruit).

The service was good, but they were incredibly busy in taking care of everyone. They were a good team and looked out if we needed a new grill plate, or if were ready to put in more orders.

I will definitely be back - what a great spot to bring out of towners.”

“Booked a tea tasting with Imen through her online website with a friend. We both did the Chao zhou style which is so unique! As an avid tea drinker, I don't come across the chao zhou brewing method often so it was such a unique experience. My friend flew in from Philadelphia for this! Imen is highly reputable as a tea master in the Los Angeles area and popular for her Phoenix Oolong Tea. I originally found her through the Reddit and was so excited to get an appointment with her. We bought so many teas after. Highly recommend for an authentic gong fu tea tasting and experience!! I will be back to try her other tea classes and workshops.”

“The Thursday - Sunday late evening/overnight staff is amazing! I've been coming here pretty much weekly since July 2021 and they have become like family, especially our regular server Lupe. The night manager is cool and when he gets on the stove his food is out of this world! They got a new cook a few months ago and they are great with consistently producing comfort, especially the fries (and I'm VERY picky about my fry consistency).”

“This is my go-to Indonesian restaurant whenever I’m in LA. I live in Colorado, but I travel here from time to time for business, and Wayang is always on my list.

The food is delicious and authentic, and I love that Ibu Lily makes most of it herself from scratch. She used to be a private chef for celebrities in Los Angeles, and you can definitely tell she knows her way around the kitchen. Everything I’ve had here has been full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared.

When I visited, Wayang was only taking to-go orders, but they still had a few tables set up for customers who preferred to eat there. It’s a self-serve setup, you grab your own water and utensils and eat from the takeout container. Honestly, I really liked the casual setup. Since the restaurant was set up for to-go service, Ibu Lily let me stay for as long as I wanted, which was perfect since I had a little work to get done. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and unhurried. This way, I had the chance to try several different dishes.

For me, that’s part of the charm of Wayang: authentic Indonesian food, made from scratch, without all the fuss—it feels like home. I’ll definitely be back.”

“I finally got to try Patisserie Too at the Alhambra location. There is a free parking in the lot behind the business. I think it is free for two hours only.

Their Portuguese egg tarts are $0.99! They also have cute mini ones 3 for $2. The other pastries look really cute but they’re $7+. The brown sugar mochi tarts might be my favorite. They have a brown sugar mochi layer under the egg tart layer.

“Taiwanese cafe in Alhambra. 2hr shaded parking within the building (unsure if it's tracked). Great wifing/study or working on laptop cafe during the day! 3 Wide Tables with outlet/plug access nearby. 1 restroom, key needed. Staff is nice. AC is not working as well when we visited, they had a fan. Most ppl seem to grab takeout on a Saturday noon to late afternoon.

$3 Wheelcake. Batter is diary free. Red bean is the only dairy free one. Not bad.

Braised Pork Minced Meat Rice in a Cup. Hefty and kind carboload. But taste is decent. For a cafe, it's a quick cheap heft meal while wifing (working on the laptop here).

$14 Rice plates like popcorn chicken, pork chop, pork belly, etc. Popcorn chicken was decent too. It came with rice, veggies (stir fry cabbage), spicy seaweed tofu soup”

“I love 7 Leaves for their consistency and this location is no different. This location is open early in the morning and they have plenty of options that's not just boba tea.

My wife and I love to visit 7 Leaves and our favorites are most certainly the summer mint, oolong milk tea, and their Japanese Matcha. Aside from milk tea and fruit tea options, they have coffee options hence why they open earlier than most boba spots. Another unique part is that 7 Leaves are known for their drive through ordering. This spot has one as well which is great.

Interior is clean and spacious as well, you'll often find people on their devices or lounging around. Very clean and and vibrant overall. Love the consistency of this location as staff is friendly and quick. Drinks are high quality and very much a spot that you can be consistent with.”

I've tried multiple flavors, but keep coming back to the Salty O's (as a milkshake, and often with some caramel thrown in). I've tried and enjoyed the Ube Brownie, cookie monster, dark matter brownie batter, and the milk & cereal.

All solid tasty options that I would get again. For a friend's bday 🎂 I plan on getting them an Afters ice cream cake.

“The Thursday - Sunday late evening/overnight staff is amazing! I've been coming here pretty much weekly since July 2021 and they have become like family, especially our regular server Lupe. The night manager is cool and when he gets on the stove his food is out of this world! They got a new cook a few months ago and they are great with consistently producing comfort, especially the fries (and I'm VERY picky about my fry consistency).”

“I went to the Applebee's in Alhambra, California after spending the day at the Small business Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center.

My server was Alexander and he was EXCELLENT! He was very helpful, he had a pleasant attitude/disposition, he gave detailed descriptions of food choices, and the upsells he recommended were relevant to what we ordered. He timed our appetizer, meals, desert, and to-go order perfectly (so that none of them were too far spaced out) and anticipated in advance to fill our water glasses before they got empty (we drink A LOT of water). The manager, Jennifer, was visible, engaging, and on-hand to help wherever needed.

The way they worked in tandem with the kitchen was quite impressive! As a former manager of movie theater/sports bar combo and a restaurant, I can confidently say that Alexander and Jennifer are definitely the kind of people you want working in your establishment for sure!”

“After all these years, I finally found a tonkotsu ramen restaurant that doesn’t make their ramen overly salty!

The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful. We ordered the tonkotsu ramen with less salt, and our server kindly brought the seasoning sauce on the side so I could adjust the saltiness of the broth to my own taste. Such a simple but thoughtful gesture that made a huge difference!

The ramen was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich, creamy, aromatic, and full of flavor without being overwhelmingly salty. Every single topping was incredibly fresh and tasty, and the fried chicken was fantastic too!

I absolutely LOVE this place! I honestly wish other Japanese ramen restaurants would follow their example and give customers the option to control the saltiness of their broth.

“My go to order is Kopichino with oat, 25% sugar. Strong and not too sweet. If you want a little dessert that isn’t too sweet, get the Putu Ayu. If you want something sweeter, get the dadar gulung. If you want something savory, get the risoles. There you go. My sister tried to speak Indo to the guys that worked here but I don’t think they understood. That’s alright, coffee is bomb regardless. 😌”

“I went to this burger spot expecting a good burger, but nobody warned me about the incredible quality of their napkins. These things are HUGE. I'm talking about napkins big enough to wipe down an entire family of six after Thanksgiving dinner. I could probably take a full shower, forget my bath towel, and dry myself off with just two of these bad boys. The durability is unbelievable, too. You could wipe your hands, clean the table, wash your car, and still have enough napkin left to wrap a newborn baby. I'm convinced these aren't even napkins. They're industrial-grade cleaning equipment disguised as restaurant supplies. I don't even remember how the burger tasted because I was too busy admiring the craftsmanship of these magnificent sheets of paper. Five stars. I'm coming back with Tupperware, but not for the food. I'm stocking up on napkins.”

“Found this place since we were craving this type of food and it was delish! Our fave was the pot of thousand year old egg with eggplant where you smash it together. Definitely get a bowl of rice. The skewers were also bomb: chicken cartilage and lamb. I got quite full by the time the duck pot came, but that was also good! That potato dish is also a staple and the crunch goes well with everything. Would definitely come back to try other things on the menu! Fast service and cool vibe in here.”

We ordered the dinner special, and it was very reasonably priced. The clay pot rice was amazing—the bottom was unbelievably crispy, almost like potato chips, while the chicken was tender and cooked perfectly.

The service was okay, nothing particularly special—just what you’d expect from a typical Chinese restaurant. But honestly, the food is what matters here.

But for me, the real standouts were the grilled fish, the charcoal BBQ, and the sweet and sour pork (Guo Bao Rou). Those dishes had the authentic flavors I grew up with.
