Sinor-Lavallee Wine Bar • $$
550 1st St, Avila Beach

“An absolutely wonderful wine tasting. They have a cute little tasting room to enjoy your wine. Loved all their wines they had to offer - the Syrah and the NV Eclipse were our favorites, and we took home a bottle of each. Evan was super friendly and knowledgeable during our tasting. They also offer a small food menu, and the Shuck Shack Oysters are the best delicious addition to your wine tastings. Overall, a very enjoyable time wine tasting. Highly recommend, and we are looking forward to coming back.“

“The Pierfront Wine & Brew Bar is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Avila Beach! From the moment I stepped in, I was enchanted by the cozy ambiance and breathtaking view of the pier. But what truly stole the show was their impeccable wine selection - a connoisseur's dream come true! The variety was astounding, catering to every palate with finesse. The staff's knowledge and passion for wine were evident in every recommendation they made. Their personalized service elevated the entire experience, making me feel like a valued guest rather than just a customer. The attention to detail and genuine care in ensuring I found the perfect wine for my taste was unparalleled. Each glass was a delightful journey through flavors and aromas, complemented by the stunning sunset view. The staff's expertise in pairing wine with the delectable cheese and charcuterie boards added another layer of sophistication to the evening. “We stopped by for such delicious lunch that we returned two nights later for dinner. Nate served us lunch and took his time to chat about the menu and made us feel so welcome. The food was fabulous and we ate outside viewing the ocean. Sierra served us dinner with an inviting smile and uncrushed service. The escargot was heavenly, as was the thick French onion soup. The Caesar salad and wild mushroom ravioli were exceptional. The chef came to visit us to make sure we were happy. Impeccable service and exquisite food.“

“Walked from our Duplex in Avila over to Woodstone. We have had lunch here many times, but never breakfast. Special was Joe's Hamburger Scramble, which we all ordered. It was delicious. Hamburger had a really nice flavor. Amount of spinach and cheese was perfect. I wish I could have finished it. You order from the Counter. We got there early, so didn't have much of a wait to order. Food was delivered very promptly. It was a little too chilly to eat out on their patio, but the inside seating was fine. This place is always a "go to" for us, so we will definitely be back again.“

“Driving through town, we needed a bite and want to thank all you 5-star reviewers of Spoon Trade for steering us here because the food was fantastic! It was a busy Saturday afternoon and we got one of the last tables available. Super friendly service straight away and a great vibe all around. Very interesting menu! A diner for foodies. Wife had the vegetarian Tikka with a side sausage patty, which she loved, and my son had the Benedict, which of course I tasted via dad tax and it was rich and yummy. I was going to get the chicken and waffles, which looked delicious on other people's tables, but opted for the duck noodle soup, which was a tasty ramen. It was on the pricy side, but everything was such great quality, original recipes, and made to order. We look forward to visiting again!“

“Wonderful selection of international and domestic wines. Love that they get people out of their comfort zone with something interesting! They can supply you with some domestic staples but it's always nice to see a location not be afraid to get you out of your boring comfort zone. Reds, whites, sparkling. Great cheese plates and friendly staff that always makes it enjoyable to swing in and grab a glass!“

Jan’s Place Bar • $$
1817 Osos St, San Luis Obispo

“Cool vibe, great service, and awesome music. Good range of local beer, wine, and cider. Light snacks available too. The owners were mixing records while we were there and told us that Thursdays are "bring your own record" days. If you come early, they might even be able to teach out to spin on our own. Perfect addition to SLO: great for a date spot or casual night out.“

Monarch Grove Winery Tasting Room Wine Bar • $$
aka Hwy One & Pacific Hwy) Amtrak train station, 180 CA-1, Grover Beach

“My wife and I first found Monarch Grove on a trip to Pismo Beach searching for local wineries. We found their Groupon deal and paid a visit, which we were utterly charmed by. We love the proximity to the Amtrak station, the delicious, fruit-forward flavor of their wine, and how they are a small, local operation. We soon joined their membership club and ordered their wine all the way back to Los Angeles for our wedding, which our guests absolutely loved. We'd absolutely recommend Monarch Grove.“
