“The culinary expedition to 'Smoked Heaven' was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite of the tender, slow-smoked brisket melted in my mouth, releasing a symphony of flavors that were both complex and comforting. The smoky aroma, infused with a subtle hint of hickory, enveloped the meat, enhancing its juiciness and depth of flavor. The accompanying homemade BBQ sauce, with its perfect balance of tangy and sweet, complemented the brisket beautifully, elevating the dish to new heights. The sides, particularly the creamy coleslaw and savory baked beans, were delightful, offering a refreshing contrast to the rich, smoky meat. 'Smoked Heaven' not only delivers on its promise of authentic BBQ excellence but also excels in creating an unforgettable dining experience that leaves you craving more.“
“Stumbled upon this spot because my girlfriend and I were looking for a quick take out place. We found parking really close and ordered through a tablet. We got our food in 15 minutes! We got the spam musabis, chicken katsu and bbq chicken plate and the short rib chicken bbq plate. The portions are huge and the service was really nice. They also gave us a stamp card so after ten orders you get one for free! Definitely will be coming back.“
“Wonderful place. Definitely not a place for dining in due to limited space but the staff are pretty welcoming. Order pickup and take it home!Food is awesome. I ordered jerk chicken, goat curry and oxtail. All pretty fulfilling. Some spiciness also for all dishes. So watch out for kids!I thought parking was difficult, but actually pretty fine. I saw people just park randomly on the one way street in front of the store. And it works.Definitely will revisit again.“
“Was looking for a new place to try with a friend today and stumbled upon Prime BBQ. Really nice joint in a quiet part of San Mateo, with some surprisingly tasty skewers at fair prices! Design of the restaurant is nice, and presentation of the food was great. My friend really liked the Chicken skewers, but I personally loved the lamb and beef skewers!! They also have proper bar inside for those who drink :) Would recommend checking out and having a fun night out“
“Scrumptious BBQ meats(you decide which one, or two, or more)& sides. Really good selections of sauces, and swift efficient service. Staff was great about checking in tooParking available, and good choice of heated indoor or outdoor seating“
“Dont miss a visit here. Lovely food with ample very fresh veggies and condiments. We enjoyed giant prawns with kung pao sauce, beef pho and teriyaki chicken (low sodium option is flavorful with a delicate sauce). All wonderful and plenty left to take home. We lunched at the patio cafe tables under umbrellas. Proprietor was fun and engaging too.“
“Another terrific find! This came to my attention when they catered my hospital's event. It was delicious! I have visited a few times dining both in and outdoors. The staff were friendly and engaging. While the prices aren't the lowest, you definitely get your money's worth and more. On my most recent visit, I tried the on-tap beer and even got to sample the brisket burnt ends...YUM!“
“I highly recommend this hidden place. I would not have found this place if I did not yelp for a Korean restaurant. It is hidden downstairs of a building with multiple businesses. The food was very tasty, freshly made, and the galbi was cooked perfect; not overcooked. They had local beers which I tried the kimchi sour. The beer was good. It tasted more like a kombucha. The service is great, everyone was friendly. The only downside is the poor internet service. Perhaps is due to the location being downstairs. Overall I give this place a 5 star rating!“
“Friendly staff. Huge portions that taste terrific. You can ask for less rice and more macaroni salad on the plate lunches. Have bought take out plates of the Chicken Katsu and each one served 2-3 people. Love the Pork Lau Lau & the kahlua pork, offered with or without cabbage. The only thing they lack is island deserts. They have boxes of imported cookies.“
“Food is sichuan style and perfect for people who love spicy food. I recommend the bean spouts, the goats in spicy sauce and other famous dishes. Service can be hit or miss. The owner who is a kind and generous lady gives great advices, but one server dude is not too friendly. Well maybe he had a bad say. Anyway I really like Chef Sha and I will go back again.“
“Came here for a late lunch and ordered thr katsu bowl ($8.95+tax) and the bbq traditional combo ($15.45+tax) - pretty good value for the price! The katsu was fried quite well for a fast food place - crispy outside, and not too dry inside. The sauce that came with it was tasty as well. The bbq combo had one kalbi rib, 3 pieces of bbq chicken and several large slices of thin beef- everything was seasoned thoroughly. The thin beef was a little dry, but still tasted pretty decent. There was rice and macaroni salad and some lettuce on the side as well. This is a great meatlover’s dish!Parking: Parking lot is rly busy due to the In and Out right across from it… traffic from there can back up to this parking lot“
“Great Japanese BBQ restaurant. Food is always fresh and consistent. Service is quick. Love the atmosphere too, everybody working is so upbeat and nice. Try to come during their happy hour, good deal and less crowded. Great value all around, always fun experience and our go-to place for family gathering.“
“I've been a resident of San Bruno for over 18 years and I had no idea that a year and a half ago Chef May transformed this place into a deliciously Soulful BBQ Shack! The atmosphere and vibe was inviting relaxed and very pleasant. Plenty of seating but the menu is very limited. I strongly recommend that you get there early because food options run out quickly and choices become very limited. The line forms and I was there and watched Chef May have to turn away several customers because she had sold out.My son and I enjoyed burnt ends, ribs, beef, barbecue baked beans, collard greens and cornbread. It was all extremely filling, wonderfully seasoned and very flavorful.Chef May herself is a fantastic soul who totally enjoys what she's doing and the food she preparing. Felt like family instantly. Finally some delicious barbecue and soul food right here in San Bruno! Thanks Chef May, I'll make sure to tell everybody I know keep doing it!Parking: There is a free parking lot however you'll be lucky if there's ever a space available because it's extremely small. You're better off finding a spot on El Camino and just walking up.“
“I like this place. Basic, no frills, Hawaiian BBQ. My favorite is the Shrimp Noodle soup. Large bowl of veggies' shrimp and super hot broth. Noodles on the side in the to go orders. Such nice noodles. Cooked perfectly so they finish cooking when you add them to the hot broth. Highly recommended. All of the other Hawaiian BBQ dishes also on the menu. Not much on atmosphere though.“
“I love mom's tofu house. The food is so good. I y regular order is the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl and the Spicy Yang Nyum chicken wings. Serving sizes are large. They raised their prices by a few dollars recently, but it's understandable given the rate of inflation.“
“Great service, and the skewers were great! We ordered a variety of skewers and most of them, though a little pricey, were very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Chicken Thigh with Green Onions, the Bacon Tomato which was bursting with flavour, and the Beef Tongue. We tried the Scallop with Uni skewer, but felt that the flavours didn't work too well with each other. The Curry Gyutan Over Rice dish that we got was a bit disappointing though, as the meat was not that high of quality, so would definitely recommend sticking with ordering just skewers. Great atmosphere and nice seating on both first and second floors. You could also smell the grills of the kitchen, which definitely helped make this feel like an authentic Japanese skewer place!“
“I really enjoyed this place over the years all though I missed the old owners the place has not seen much change in taste only thing that taste a lil different is there signature hot sauce it not bad it's really good but missing a lil something to make it taste like it used to! New owners are a lot nicer just to add“
“Didn't have too much expectations for Ai Grill, but they actually were serving good food!! I enjoyed my dinner thoroughly. Although the portions look somewhat small, they were filling. We ordered an assortment of grilled meats; beef, pork, lamb, and chicken gizzards. We ordered the cooked skewers, make sure you ask them for specific sets that allow you to grill them yourself. We also ordered their whole squid, seafood fried rice, wagyu fried rice, these were also small but tasty. My two favorite from the entire meal were scallops and oysters. I do like this place and will come back to try other stuff.“
“Surprised at how good the food was. We tried this place many years ago after a trip to Hawaii expecting it to be the same as we got in Hawaii. I remember at that time we didn't return because it wasn't the same (probably not surprising). My son said he wanted to go here for dinner and I reluctantly agreed. This time I enjoyed the food and liked the reasonable price. I got the "BBQ beef" and want to go back for the chicken katsu. I didn't have the same expectation about the food that I did with our first visit many years ago. Whatever type of food (cooking style) is served at L&L it's tasty in its own right.“
“We usually eat next door at Bagel Street Cafe during the day and sometimes get a beer at Grill House. The bartender was cool because he used to let me bring a pint glass to the outdoor seating area. We prefer sitting outside because this is our midpoint during our bicycle rides. This is my first time eating at Grill House. I came here because Riley's hot food self station was closed at 7:30pm. I ordered a cheeseburger with garlic fries $20. It came out in about 10 minutes. It tasted OK. The bun was really dry and they put too much mustard on it. It tasted sour. A better option would be garlic aioli sauce or even plain mayo. Red onions would have made this burger 2x better but it was not included. The garlic fries needed more garlic taste. No garlic burn here. Service was excellent. Good job crew at Grill House.“
“A group of us go for trivia on Wednesdays and we love the vibe! The trivia is a great mix of difficult and doable questions which makes it fun. The staff is friendly, the owner came up and introduced himself the first time we went in and now stops by to our table to say hi. They have a little kitchen that they rent out (I think) and the food that they serve is yummy! not sure if they've changed the menu since I was last in, but they didn't have chicken as a meat for the tacos which was a bummer since I don't eat red meat/pork.“
