“When I came to the United States and got tired of eating hamburgers and other Western-style food, I had no choice but to eat tofu pot to satisfy my craving for white rice. This Mom's Tofu is very close to the hotel, within walking distance, and there is good parking nearby. Shopping and drinking coffee can be arranged nearby, which is very convenient. After eating the tofu hotpot for two days in a row, I feel that the taste is not much different. In California, the soft tofu hotpot is usually meat + tofu hotpot + small dishes. It is similar to Taiwan, the taste is not too spicy, and the price is higher than the previous day. Food is more expensive in Los Angeles.“
“Ai Grill's charm is definitely the automatically rotating skewer system and the binchotan charcoal that they bring out just for your table once you place your order. Paired with the neon lights and stylish interior, a bbq dinner here definitely felt tasted like a premium experience while still supporting a local mom and pop restaurant. My friend and I had a great time here ordering via the ala carte skewers, wagyu fried rice, and a sweet potato fries side. The skewers were packed with smoky umami with our favorites being the lamb, US prime beef, and pork jowl. The sweet potato fries were also so light and crispy that we couldn't help but grab more - we finished this at lightning speed. Our server was so sweet and attentive, giving us detailed instructions on the best cooking time/sauce pairing for each meat, checking in several times with water, and offering free watermelon and coupons to finish off the meal. Overall this was a super satisfying dinner for both food and service quality. Just one minor critique I have is that Ai Grill's price point positions this to be a "once in a while" dinner rather than an easy splurge, despite skewers being a street food genre. I tend to think of beef and lamb skewers as the showstealers when it comes to Chinese bbq, but beef skewers starting at ~$7 here brings some hesitation to go big with the first skewer order. I genuinely hope that Ai Grill keeps growing their customer base since their weekend service still had space to fill when we went (granted we went right at opening time).“
“The culinary expedition to 'Smoked Heaven' was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite of the tender, slow-smoked brisket melted in my mouth, releasing a symphony of flavors that were both complex and comforting. The smoky aroma, infused with a subtle hint of hickory, enveloped the meat, enhancing its juiciness and depth of flavor. The accompanying homemade BBQ sauce, with its perfect balance of tangy and sweet, complemented the brisket beautifully, elevating the dish to new heights. The sides, particularly the creamy coleslaw and savory baked beans, were delightful, offering a refreshing contrast to the rich, smoky meat. 'Smoked Heaven' not only delivers on its promise of authentic BBQ excellence but also excels in creating an unforgettable dining experience that leaves you craving more.“
“This spot is such an amazing find. The food is delicious, the staff are all incredibly kind, and it's a very casual restaurant to grab lunch or dinner. This restaurant has entered my rotation of post-workout dinners when I just want something tasty and filling. I usually order the Erbil Kebab, which comes with rice and salad. It's a huge portion for one person, but a little small to feed two. You certainly get a ton of value for the price! Also... the toum (garlic sauce) is addictive--You've been warned!“
“Well, how do you do! What a fantastic foodie find. Small shop that packs enormous flavor.Their kimchi fried is great with onions, kimchi & tiny squares of tofu that is seasoned to perfection. Jap chae with slivers of carrots, green onions and yellow onions. That galbi was a show stopper, grilled before my very eyes, lightly sauced tender to the touch it separated from the bone every so easily. The small portion of kimchi that's included is not enough. You can thankfully purchase a mason jar of kimchi. The portion sizes are fat kid pleasing.Go in pairs parking is terrible. They take cards“
“Stumbled upon this spot because my girlfriend and I were looking for a quick take out place. We found parking really close and ordered through a tablet. We got our food in 15 minutes! We got the spam musabis, chicken katsu and bbq chicken plate and the short rib chicken bbq plate. The portions are huge and the service was really nice. They also gave us a stamp card so after ten orders you get one for free! Definitely will be coming back.“
“Met a chap on a flight from Toronto to San Francisco. Turns out he lived near my hometown back in Ontario Canada before moving to California. He suggested this place and it was spot on exactly as good as he said it would be. George was super nice and knew the chap on the plane. Thank you for an amazing eating experience the boys and I loved the platter and never had chicken so good. My Daughter loved the burger. Do yourself a favour and check this place out you won't be disappointed.“
“This food is so good, can't stress that enough. They've been doing this for a long time and it shows. The Bay Area needs more places like this. The wait can be long, but the food is so worth it.The chicken skewer was exactly what I wanted. Huge portions of garlic rice.I think I can endlessly snack on lumpia. 10 piece for $5? C'mon...“
“Was looking for a new place to try with a friend today and stumbled upon Prime BBQ. Really nice joint in a quiet part of San Mateo, with some surprisingly tasty skewers at fair prices! Design of the restaurant is nice, and presentation of the food was great. My friend really liked the Chicken skewers, but I personally loved the lamb and beef skewers!! They also have proper bar inside for those who drink :) Would recommend checking out and having a fun night out“
“I've had Vegan Mob at 4 different locations and this one's another great one. I had already been going to Hangry Planet for a late night vegan snack so it was a nice surprise to see that Vegan Mob would start operating the food truck in their parking lot. I could use another spot in SF but this is cool cause I can go to Hangry Planet for a beverage or vegan ice cream coneSmackaroni for the win.“
“A group of us go for trivia on Wednesdays and we love the vibe! The trivia is a great mix of difficult and doable questions which makes it fun. The staff is friendly, the owner came up and introduced himself the first time we went in and now stops by to our table to say hi. They have a little kitchen that they rent out (I think) and the food that they serve is yummy! not sure if they've changed the menu since I was last in, but they didn't have chicken as a meat for the tacos which was a bummer since I don't eat red meat/pork.“
“Food: 4.3/5 best bang for your buck here! i can tell that this hole in the wall is a place where lots of blue collar workers come in and out of to pick up a quick and filling lunch for a great price. we got the Loco Moco and the Teriyaki Mixed Plate Lunch and they both hit the spot. the char on the Teriyaki Mixed Plate was delicious and plentiful. the loco moco was good but the gravy tends to make the entire plate soggy so if they had dividers in their to go containers that would be ideal. both plates were hefty big boys that were able to feed us for two meals because we couldn't finish it on the first round. the worker was nice enough to move the table and let me see their drink selection because he saw I was leaning and squinting towards them to read the labels haha. overall, a great meal for a great price in SF(coming from a broke college student)“
“The Bay Area is notorious for having awful barbecue but man Drew is an exception! Ordered a rib plate with beans and mac & cheese. The ribs were so damn flavorful and the portions were HUGE. Mac & cheese was creamy and the beans were great as well. Drew threw in a chicken leg quarter on the house and that was SO amazing as well. It was tender, juicy, and smoky. I might have liked it more than the ribs! You can taste the passion that goes into the food. I’m definitely coming back to try the links one day! 5/5“
“Best Korean BBQ restaurant in SSF! There are no grills for you to cook your own, but the meat based dishes are very full flavoured. Service request is with a bell installed at each table (love it). The ambient is well lit. Larger party friendly. Kpop videos playing on the screens. All that is expected in the best ways.Vegetarian options: There isn't much purely vegetarian dishes. If you are ok with meat mashed soup with vegetarian 'toppers' then you'll be fine with tofu soups, fried tofu, etc. Ban chans are veggies based.“
“Very strange experience. I ordered the Ohana Supa Bowl with bbq chicken. It was the same exact thing as a plate.. just served in a bowl. It wasn't prepared differently. This chicken was not diced differently. It was 3 or 4 bbq'd whole chicked thigh fillets with 2 scoops of rice and heaping portion of mac salad. Why is this on the menu?Edit: the food item was not bad, it was merely confusing. Maybe if it was called a small plate I would have been less confused.“
“Been coming here for years and this place is still the best Hawaiian food in the area. You get the best bang for your buck here. Prices have gone up which is to be expected but the portions have never changed. You still get a whole lotta food that can feed you for more than one meal. Recently, I ordered the chicken Katsu regular plate with all mac salad, we had rice at home. This plate fed myself, my 3 daughters n there was still some left to pack for the hubby's lunch for work the next day. I love that the chicken isn't too beaten, it's still very meaty and not flat at all. Fam favorite for sure. Party trays are amazing and a good deal as well. Definitely coming back. I hope this place never leaves. It is a mom & pop shop and they do only take cash so be prepared. If you're ordering for party trays, be ready to pay in full prior to pick up. But it's definitely worth it.“
“Friendly staff. Huge portions that taste terrific. You can ask for less rice and more macaroni salad on the plate lunches. Have bought take out plates of the Chicken Katsu and each one served 2-3 people. Love the Pork Lau Lau & the kahlua pork, offered with or without cabbage. The only thing they lack is island deserts. They have boxes of imported cookies.“
“They're $7 grilled fish deal is incredible. Large portions check, healthy food with plenty of vegetables in the salad check, very nice people that work there. The Sloat location has a woman running the show that goes above and beyond and makes it a great experience. What a deal!“
“I like this place. Basic, no frills, Hawaiian BBQ. My favorite is the Shrimp Noodle soup. Large bowl of veggies' shrimp and super hot broth. Noodles on the side in the to go orders. Such nice noodles. Cooked perfectly so they finish cooking when you add them to the hot broth. Highly recommended. All of the other Hawaiian BBQ dishes also on the menu. Not much on atmosphere though.“
“Chef Li's is a great place to go for a quick bite or even a family dinner. The place is like a typical Chinese take out restaurant with options running from roasted pig to roasted duck or soy sauce chicken and everything in between. I usually order ahead of schedule and ordering 3 entrees takes about 15 minutes, 20 at most. They are very efficient and I never get wrong orders.“
“I've been a resident of San Bruno for over 18 years and I had no idea that a year and a half ago Chef May transformed this place into a deliciously Soulful BBQ Shack! The atmosphere and vibe was inviting relaxed and very pleasant. Plenty of seating but the menu is very limited. I strongly recommend that you get there early because food options run out quickly and choices become very limited. The line forms and I was there and watched Chef May have to turn away several customers because she had sold out.My son and I enjoyed burnt ends, ribs, beef, barbecue baked beans, collard greens and cornbread. It was all extremely filling, wonderfully seasoned and very flavorful.Chef May herself is a fantastic soul who totally enjoys what she's doing and the food she preparing. Felt like family instantly. Finally some delicious barbecue and soul food right here in San Bruno! Thanks Chef May, I'll make sure to tell everybody I know keep doing it!Parking: There is a free parking lot however you'll be lucky if there's ever a space available because it's extremely small. You're better off finding a spot on El Camino and just walking up.“
“Food is sichuan style and perfect for people who love spicy food. I recommend the bean spouts, the goats in spicy sauce and other famous dishes. Service can be hit or miss. The owner who is a kind and generous lady gives great advices, but one server dude is not too friendly. Well maybe he had a bad say. Anyway I really like Chef Sha and I will go back again.“
“This restaurant is located in the Mission Plaza Shopping Center. There's plenty of parking. They share the parking lot with Lucky's, Jollibee, Red Ribbon Bakery, Iguana Taqueria, and Starbucks. When my wife and I entered this restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly cashier. We ordered the mixed BBQ combo plate, musubi trio, BBQ chicken plate, and the Kuala pork with cabbage. The mixed bbq combo plate consisted of bbq beef ribs, bbq chicken , bbq beef. The meats were cooked to perfection. They were all tender. They trimmed off the fat , which we really appreciated. The musubi trio consisted of spam, BBQ chicken, and chicken katsu. They were all flavorful. The Kuala pork with cabbage was kind of on a little dry side. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. The cashier told us that the orders would be ready in 15 minutes and they only took about 12 minutes. They were generous with the portions and the prices were reasonable. The food was still hot when we got home. We will definitely be back to try their Loco Moco, healthy plates, and Saimin.“
“Great Japanese BBQ restaurant. Food is always fresh and consistent. Service is quick. Love the atmosphere too, everybody working is so upbeat and nice. Try to come during their happy hour, good deal and less crowded. Great value all around, always fun experience and our go-to place for family gathering.“
“Great service, and the skewers were great! We ordered a variety of skewers and most of them, though a little pricey, were very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Chicken Thigh with Green Onions, the Bacon Tomato which was bursting with flavour, and the Beef Tongue. We tried the Scallop with Uni skewer, but felt that the flavours didn't work too well with each other. The Curry Gyutan Over Rice dish that we got was a bit disappointing though, as the meat was not that high of quality, so would definitely recommend sticking with ordering just skewers. Great atmosphere and nice seating on both first and second floors. You could also smell the grills of the kitchen, which definitely helped make this feel like an authentic Japanese skewer place!“
“Came here for a late lunch and ordered thr katsu bowl ($8.95+tax) and the bbq traditional combo ($15.45+tax) - pretty good value for the price! The katsu was fried quite well for a fast food place - crispy outside, and not too dry inside. The sauce that came with it was tasty as well. The bbq combo had one kalbi rib, 3 pieces of bbq chicken and several large slices of thin beef- everything was seasoned thoroughly. The thin beef was a little dry, but still tasted pretty decent. There was rice and macaroni salad and some lettuce on the side as well. This is a great meatlover’s dish!Parking: Parking lot is rly busy due to the In and Out right across from it… traffic from there can back up to this parking lot“
