“This is my 3rd omakase experience (once in Japan) and each has been different but all wonderful. Tancho is a small restaurant hidden in a shopping plaza in Castro Valley where there’s plenty of parking in the evenings. The Maple Bar seats seven and worth the extra money as you get to see Chef Jason prepare each delicacy and you get a couple extra courses that you don’t get sitting at the table (behind the bar). A party of four with a bottle of Dessai 23 ran us a little over $1k. It’s a great place to go for an anniversary or birthday. We’ll be back soon 😊”

“We had food catered & delivered from them. All the food was authentic, super tasty, well packaged and presented. Everyone loved it & mentioned multiple times. I recommend them wholeheartedly. We ordered Chicken Curry, Dal Makhani, Paneer Veggie Sabji, Raita, Naan, Rice, Salad & Rose Kheer. Rose Kheer was so yummy. Chicken Curry tasted homemade Punjabi. It was delicious. Paneer Sabji & Daal were also very yummy. Spices were mild. You can't go wrong by ordering from them.”

“Thai is my favorite cuisine and this place never disappoints. I have yet to find a better thai restaurant in the bay area and even in the US. The tom yum soup is top notch. Their pad thai is incredible. The only complaint I have is that they can never manage to make the food spicy enough, but to be fair, nobody is able to make it spicy enough for me.”

“Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.”

The Food - especially their Dinner Special - is great, portion sizes just right, different options and still assembled and delivered to the table within minutes of ordering. And both Nigiri and Sashimi have sizable chunks of Fish and well prepared!

Kid-friendliness: Servers interact wonderfully with the kids, recommending suitable food and engaging with them in conversations. There are often families with Kids here, a testament to their appeal.”

“Good food and service, ambiance a bit sterile, could be warmer with for instance some background music like the standards (Sinatra, Holliday, Martin, Bennett). When we first arrived the restaurant had only a few guests and the room was too quiet, like a library and felt a bit awkward.”

“They don't treat my husband nicely. He treats everyone kindly but they act like he's bothering them as he orders his food while they treat others customers very well with a smile. We had been going to them for years but when management changed the people changed. We always order alot of food and tip. When I go in by myself they don't treat me the way they treat him. No more money for you.”

“I signed up for my daughter and her dad to attend Macaroon class. Both came back with delicious macaroon and shared their enjoyment experience during the class. Next day, they tried baking Macaroon on their own. Even without having all the proper equipment, they were able to make the Macaroon very soft and delicious. Thank you, Natalie, for having my daughter and her dad in class. The cost for the class is fair ($85/person). I know a lot of people are interested in joining your class. The only issue is the distance is too far from their homes. I wish you will offer more variety of classes throughout the year.”

“Overall good but not outstanding - other than service, which was excellent. To be fair, I went on a Sunday morning which is probably not the best time. Brew coffee was non-offensive. Aero-press unavailable on Sundays. Pastries were pleasant - not the best I've ever had, but nice. Good lemon scone and Cinnamon roll was decent. I'd recommend on a weekday if you are in the area.”

“My niece and I stopped here by chance. We were driving home to AZ around dinnertime. We were going to go to a BBQ place but had to turn around as we were going in the wrong direction, when my niece spotted this place. I'm always open to pizza, so we decided to give it a try.
For starters, there is very little parking, but we are able to snag a spot. We went in and couldn't agree on one kind of pizza. We noticed that they had mini ten inch pizzas. So that's what we decided to do, and we each ordered our own. I customized the supreme as I don't care for bacon bits or olives. My niece ordered the barbecue chicken. There's just one small table with four chairs to sit at, so we hung out there while our pizzas were being made.
When they informed us the pizza was ready, we went up to the counter. The pizza box was extremely hot and heavy! When we got out into the car and looked at them, they were huge! It's a very generous ten inch pizza!
Due to the lack of space and parking, we tooled across the street to trader, joe's and ate in their parking lot! The pizza was so loaded and so filling that we each could barely finish three pieces from our respective pizza. I'm very glad we had an ice chest in the car! I just enjoyed leftovers heated up in my air fryer.
I would one hundred percent recommend this place! They have a pizza that is about twenty-eight inches around. I noticed the to go boxes, and one was really big! I think that pizza size is the granddaddy! They also have a Mac daddy!
Don't let the location and appearance fool you. Get a pizza from here asap!”

“Lake Chabot is an insider tip for tourists! We discovered this beautiful recreational area by chance a few years ago and were now happy to go there again for a day trip. On weekends you can take a guided boat tour and learn a lot of interesting things about the Bay Area, as the lake was named after the engineer Chabot, who was instrumental in building the water pipeline system in the Bay Area.

“Excellent Korean-style fried chicken from a local spot. We’ve ordered takeout a few times, and are always blown away by the fries, which are the crispiest crunchiest tastiest fries around!
In terms of wings - also delicious and crispy. All 4 flavors are great, though I’ve found some variation in the heat of the “hot” chicken (sometimes pretty mild, sometimes too hot for me).
Sides include “salad” which is more accurately described as a slaw with sauce on the side (but is delicious).
Atmosphere is good for a mainly counter-serve spot. Love the “chicken on fire” legos!”

“Wonderful to have a new Mexican restaurant in town. We dined in. Ample parking. The Quesabirria was flavorful with the Mexican onions. The chicken fajitas were tender with lovely char on the veg. I particularly liked the added mushrooms. The chips could be better, but the salsa enhances them. The restaurant is super clean and the staff is friendly. The takeout burritos are also very good.”

These guys always serve very generous portions of meat, with the rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas. I'm always skeptical about ordering the fajitas in fear of getting mostly veggies, lol, but this place did not disappoint. I'll be back for more of their menu.”

I bought 2 dumplings, 4 buns, 2 spring rolls, and 2 entree plates packed with food for $40. If you They have a HUGE variety of specialty dumplings and dim sum. When we were finished with our lunch, we went back to buy more for later. “We recently tried three different cake slices from this outlet and had a varied experience. The banana cream pie was delightful with its freshly made cream and perfectly balanced sweetness. The blueberry cheesecake, while good, had a bit too much runny jam on top and didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of richness and density. As for the chocolate cream pie, it was just okay.”

“I have been coming to Burrito Shop for years, decades really, and I've never been disappointed. I've tried numerous items on their menu and have always enjoyed being surprised at how good their food is. Any evening that ends with a burrito shop meal is a good end to the day!”

“They are ready to make your pizza exactly how you like it. Dough and red sauce are a great base for whatever you can think of. Expertly cooked. Tables needed a wipe, but I could tell they were short staff and everyone was pitching in to get orders out. Respect and a wise decision to keep the wait time down. Would go back when visiting the Bay Area again.

“I had called in my order the lady who took my order was very well spoken she repeated my order so they would get it correct. It was ready when I got there I recognized the lady's voice and ask her for the manger she told me she was the manager on duty. She asked me if there was something wrong with the order.I told I just wanted to let her boss know how pleasant she was talking to something about her voice . She said thank you and asked me if there was anything else she could do for me . I stop coming to this location because of the service but decided to give it another chance because I live so close. Joan made me change my mind about it so for the last 2 months I have been coming every week. Great employee. I only go in there when I know she is working.”

“It's a Great Place to visit from Time to Time for a Treat from the Daily Grind. The Parking is Very Tight SO Please be Prepared to squeeze in at a moments notice. The inside is very Clean & well kept with comfortable seats around. Prices have increased & the Many Products size has been considerably reduced, like for example a Simple Scone use to be Palm sized & Now they are a tiny Triangle 2 small bite size. :))”

“Tried the Okinawa Roasted Milk Tea which was good and definitely a repeat order. The Ube Milk Tea however had a mild ube taste to it and could have been better. Boba was perfectly cooked.”
