“Chinese takeout spot with a VERY toned down Szechuan spice. Came here for late night food and the lady was so nice!!! Dishes I recommend are string beans,Kung Pao chicken, and string beans. Im Chinese and thought the spicy szechuan chicken wasnt spicy at all, more like takeout style than actual szechuan. All the dishes need more garlic, onion, szechuan peppers, and chilli peppers to qualify as authentic szechuan food. Chilli oil on the condiments was too pickley. No this is not authentic szechuan food where everything is stir fried in mountains of spices. This is more like above average Chinese takeout with a twist and the service is excellent. Very good prices.“

“Came for lunch with my buddies. The owners were super friendly, and the food is a bit on the salty side, but overall, good!!! I really enjoy the fried rice.
Vegetarian options: Would skip this place.

“Found this place right across Courtyard & TownePlace by Marriott Hawthorne. Ordered a combo meal with steam rice, orange chicken & mushroom chicken. Their food taste really good and love their generous portion. Good service by their staff and clean bright place. Definitely will return here.“

“I just had this place for the first time and i had the chicken katsu with noodles and macaroni. And it was ok. Not bad but not good. Only when it comes to the flavor. But the way it was cooked was very well done. 👌
The portions in my opinion were good. Full plate. And the man that attended me was very good as well. Respectful and took my order how I want it. I hope this place does well and the only improvent that it needs is the flavor. I know they can be better in that aspect. I always want to support local business.“

“When I find myself in Downtown Los Angeles near Union Station, and need to feel comfortable and satisfied for an hour before my next Amtrak or Metrolink train, this is my go to place within easy and relatively safe walking distance of the Station. While the decor is a tad sterile, it is clean, the menu is expansive, the portions generous, and they do not rush you out. They are generally open until midnight which is a plus. Good, solid food. The big screen TV sometimes has videos of Chinese food being prepared.“

“The zajiang mian, spicy beef noodle soup and dumplings with chili oil were very good. We also got the lotus chips which was fried and decent. My friend ordered the steamed egg with minced pork that was also very good. You can choose your spicy and it matches fairly right with the spice and mala level. We also got the main cold combo that came with the spicy black fungus, Chengdu beef jerky, sweet & sour seaweed and spicy radish that were all very good.
The staff was very nice and attended to our needs. You have to order your food thru the app/QR code which is slightly annoying but it works once you go thru the order system and get the hang of it. The music inside has a chill vibe to it and there are a lot of large windows and sunlight inside the restaurant.
The parking situation in that area is hard to find and chaotic.“

“I sampled their famous xiao long bao, delicious dumplings, savory fried rice and garlic string beans. Each dish was a taste experience, from the delicious dumplings in broth to the perfectly seasoned fried rice. The service is great and the atmosphere is inviting. Don't miss this place for authentic Taiwanese cuisine and unforgettable flavors. It has the taste of home.“

“Amazing place, amazing food, and amazing customers service!! The braised pork was absolutely delicious for such an affordable price and their portions are certainly worth it. I only ordered the rice as my base and braised pork on the side, it was nicely cooked, tender and the quail eggs were top quality. Highly recommend Tigawok and definitely coming back for more!!!“

“This restaurant is very affordable, every dish looks big and is packed with great flavors.
If you come to this place with a group, there is a mandatory tip so don't get surprised by that (it will be included in your check).
I got various items from the menu, some of the highlights were the garlic and shrimp fried rice and the Chinese sausage fried rice.
The service was great and included tea. My party kept drinking hot tea and the waitress was always on top of it and refilling it. Even when we finished our meal and we were just chatting amongst each other, the waitress still offered tea, it was a very nice gesture and made us feel welcome to stay more.
Pending on how much you eat, I recommend getting the number of plates = the number of people in your party. If you cannot finish everything, they offer boxes to take out the rest of your food. I recommend dining in, it is clean and spacious.
The only bad thing is that some members of my party went to the bathroom and it was not clean, one of them even said that it ruins part of the experience. For the owner: Please clean the restroom, it would have been a perfect experience.“

“I really like their food, soups and other things, the sandwich is good and their service is very good. I think it is a family restaurant, recommended, but the only bad and unpleasant thing is their bathroom service, it is not recommended at all.“

“Good atmosphere with great lightning. Such a nice chill place to eat Chinese food near USC!
Ordered the shrimp fried noodle, which was good in flavor— downside is that the dish was overpriced and a bit underwhelming appearance-wise. Also ordered the QuaiLin noodle, which was spicy at the right level— delicious!“

“What incredible service from Zander. On New Year’s Day with the restaurant completely packed he made some magic happen and got me and my girlfriend a table for our anniversary. It doesn’t stop there! The service through out the whole dinner was incredible with recommendations and check ins. The ambiance as well was awesome with modern vibes and music going. We had the xiao long bao, chicken fried rice, and three cup chicken and oh my god was it incredible.“

“This is a neat little place I found on Yelp when I was craving some Chinese food. Portions could be a little bit more generous, but it was very flavorful. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes. I tried the veggie dumplings because they were out of chicken. I don't know what was in it, but it looked like minced kale? The soy sauce was ridiculously salty, it's like drinking from the dead sea. Very fast and friendly service. Beautifully decorated inside.“

“Had a great meal! Forwent ordering potstickers in order to try the enticingly named Gang of 4 ×4 - a delicious decision! The Mao's Hometown was just-right spicy, and I'm sure they put more than $2 extra shrimp on my order. Service friendly and prompt, loved the art. Vegetarian options: They have a food bar where you can pick your vegetables and the cooks will prepare your food for you.
Parking: The parking lot is small. It's shared with other businesses in the small shopping center.
Kid-friendliness: Family style restaurant.

“I have been enjoying their food for 6 years, ever since I moved to Culver City. Their lurou noodle/rice is very nice, the cheeseburger potsticker is absolutely awesome, and the tomato sauce is among the best I have ever tasted. “The restaurant itself does look quite humble, shall we say? Don't let that deter you, or you'll miss out. The food is amazing, portions are large, and the staff is very friendly. I went with a less adventurous eater. I had the Guilan noodle soup off of the specialties section of the menu, and he had the sliced beef noodle soup. Both portions were substantial and came out of the kitchen quickly. My Guilan was amazing. I particularly liked the pickled cabbage in it. The beef shank was fall apart tender. This place is awesome. I only wish I had one closer to where I live.“

“The food is great and the atmosphere is very easy. I've had their bowls and try to eat here when I come to the court for other things, but their times are advertised incorrectly on google. I was at the court all day and thought I had time to eat dinner until 9 because that's when google said they closed today saturday. I went up to eat at 8 but it turns out they close at 8 everyday and closed on sunday, so honestly frustrated right now precisely because the food is so good, I was looking forward to it and not really craving anything else 🤦🏻♂️“

“Fortune House is an old fashioned family-owned and operated hidden gem offering dine-in, takeout and delivery. Just try it. Thank me later!
This restaurant went beyond the call of duty when helping my family and friends during the pandemic, I will never forget their kindness. Remember that one month when there wasn't a can of corn available in California? Or TP?! Or an egg?! We had to get creative and come together as a community to get through it. And we did! Enter Fortune House, a local hero for my family.;)
When fortune House found out my elderly family member loved corn, this restaurant put together a special box (for optimum soup transport!) and assisted me in ordering huge takeout sweet corn soups for my happy members.
Pro tip: order directly with the family here for the best deals, discounts and services.
I love Cantonese special dishes here, everything is good. Generous portions. Delicate homemade sauces. Delicious family-style meals. Superb service. Try the Peking duck, braised vegetables, soft steamed dumplings, succulent char sui, hearty Cantonese soups and so much more.
We lived together through a tough time together! The chefs, servers and family at Fortune House will ask me how my elderly family member is doing and I am delighted to say great and thanks in response. I've overheard the family offering great advice about the menu and the city in multiple languages to everyone else too.
At the beginning of the pandemic, we saw people promoting violence in our communities, sometimes while waving a flag, sometimes making a racist or hateful comment. I wanted to grab that flag and hand it to the people who were saving our lives and making our communities a better, safer and more welcoming place.
Thanks for caring about my family and all of our families so much. We're really lucky to have you on our side! Five stars Fortune House. 多謝! (Thank you!)
Vegetarian options: Almost everything on the menu can be made with tofu“

“Tip: Tell them that the Chinese food down in Manchester serves more in the combo. Why the old lady serves very little as if it were Panda Express. Since if they say that they serve well what it should be for the prices! I recommend the Soup especially when you feel sick!“

“After eating only Panda Express and brunch for 4 days in San Fran, I missed Korean food, so I went there as soon as I came to LA. The owner is very kind. He cuts the noodles himself and stir-fries the black bean paste at different times. It was very delicious. We ordered a double serving, and the portion size is really huge hahaha. I am a 180cm and 100kg strong adult male. If you come to this area, be sure to try it. Thanks to you, I think I will be able to finish the rest of my trip well. I hope you prosper, boss.“

“This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed the food. To start we had the crispy crab/cream cheese wontons. They were creamy and full of chunks of crab meat. For dinner we shared the Sweet & Sour pork, Mongolian Beef and the Veggie Low Mein. It was all super tasty! The low mein had tons of freshly sautéed carrots, brocolli, zuchini, cabbage and snow peas in a great sauce. The Mongolian beef was super thin and tender sautéed with green onion in a rich sauce. The sweet and sour pork was very traditional but you could see and taste the quality... no skimpy cuts of pork or over breading! I was wonderful! The manager (or owner, not sure) was offering a free garlic noodle dish to any table with a check over $50... we had never tried garlic noodles before but they were so simple but so rich with a buttery garlic sauce that they paired perfectly with the rich sauces of the other dishes. Service and atmosphere was wonderful. We will be back to try more! *Bonus they had a large TV (no sound but with subtitles) playing the World Series!
Vegetarian options: The table next to us was a large all vegetarian group. They had tons of options on thier table which they all seemed to enjoy.
Parking: Parking available behind the restaurant with a direct back entrance.“

“I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and looked for a Chinese restaurant nearby so my family and I could try it out.
A la carte menus are basically large plates of food that can be shared by 2 to 4 people.
Personally, I found the seasoning to be perfect, and my wife and elementary school children were very satisfied and ate their fill. Fried rice and meat dishes are the best☆
The staff at the shop had a warm personality and the service was attentive, and when I told them I was Japanese, they even gave me chopsticks.
I ordered a little too much and ended up with some left over, but I was able to put it in a take-out container and take it out. They also provided white rice as a service.
There were many take-out customers, and several groups came to pick up their orders while they were eating.
The location of the restaurant is also close to various other restaurants, so you can eat with peace of mind in a safe place. This is a recommended restaurant if you want to eat Chinese food in Los Angeles.
I would like to stop by again when I come to Los Angeles.“

“Great place for a quick run of Chinese food. I really enjoy their noodles and their mushroom chicken. The food is good and the people are very nice and friendly on top of my the fact that their prices are fair. Their Thai tea is ? delicious !! Order the large one.
Parking: The place gets busy and the spaces in the lot are not enough sometimes. Half of the time you find a space and the other half you have to wait for someone to leave.“

“Great place to stop in for good food. The ladies behind the counter are super nice and friendly. I always get orange chicken and theirs did not disappoint. “⭐ 4/5 – Fast, Filling, and Convenient for USC Students
Northern Cafe offers a quick, satisfying meal near USC. It’s a great choice for anyone in need of a filling bite on the go, but don’t expect it to be a stand-out culinary experience.
🍜 The
Decent dumplings and noodles, fresh and filling
Portion sizes are large, which makes it a great value for the price
Some dishes could benefit from a bit more seasoning, but overall, it’s good for a quick fix
🏡 The Atmosphere: 3.5/5
Small space, usually crowded—not ideal for relaxing, but perfect for a quick bite
If you’re in a rush or need something filling, it’s a great option
🛎️ The
Service is quick and efficient, but there’s little to no personal interaction
You order at the counter and your food arrives fast—perfect if you're in a hurry
💰 The Verdict: A Convenient and Quick Option
✅ Large portions for a good price
✅ Quick service, great for those in a rush
✅ Good dumplings and noodles for a quick meal
❌ Not much variety or flavor depth, dishes could use more seasoning
❌ Limited seating, not a great place to relax and dine in
Would I return? Yes, for a quick, no-fuss meal. It’s not a destination for a special night out, but it works for a filling stop when you're nearby.“

“Food is always good. Their fried shrimp is delicious. Their crab roll is the best. Their egg rolls are legit perfect. All their food is good but by far their best is the beef and broccoli. “Large dining area. Everyday they offer a lunch special for $8.99 and it includes a Thai tea (iced) and either Zhajiang noodles, kung pao chicken, hot dry noodles or shrimp fried rice. “I like Mara Jjamppong here, so I go here occasionally, but not often, but the older female employee who was working during the day today was really, really, really, really unfriendly. Really..... Ha..... While I was ordering a cola, I asked for some cool water and some onions, so I brought them with an annoyed expression and left them on the table. Even if I call you, you just stare at me. When I told him I was taking the leftovers, he said, “Give it to me, so I can do it quickly.” While doing so, don't you pour a lot of red soup into the bowl so that it splashes in front of the person wearing white clothes? They gave you the bill and told you to take it right away, but they just walked away. The way they spoke and their facial expressions really pissed people off... It wasn't that there were many customers, and foreign servers were doing most of the work, but they told us to eat quickly and leave. It would make you feel really good if you treated me that way, huh? Should I care about you while spending my own money? I was so scared that I wondered where I could go to eat. The tip was given because of the other servers. I was about to write that my food was ruined because you were unfriendly with your name on the credit card statement, but I held back. If you don't want to work, just rest at home. Don't just come out and hurt the feelings of people who came to have a good meal.“

“Went with my 89 yrs. Old mother. She was the one that prevented me from giving this place a 5 stars. Her complaint/observation?
The food was NOT WARM enough, I asked if it could be warmed up in the microwave? They DON'T HAVE ONE.

Hearing my Mom's bitching and complaining.
Bty, the Brazilian employee who served us, was very nice and friendly. Will I go back?
Yes, but by myself or a friend;)“
