“Ramen comes to mind when the weather is cool and raining! Ever since I heard Pipo Ramen & Rice is on the Top 100 Places to Eat in Sacramento, I have been wanting to try this place. It's located in South Sacramento, off 65th Street, in this quiet plaza with plenty of parking. We came here for dinner a little before 6:00 pm on weekdays, and we were the only customers. The place is clean, tidy, and spacious with a high ceiling. We sat down and were given the menu and water right away. At first, I thought this was a Japanese/Ramen restaurant because of the name. After looking at the menu, it turns out it's a Thai restaurant. Either way, I enjoy both Japanese and Thai food.I love duck, so I immediately knew I wanted the Crispy Duck Fried Rice. I was surprised that the duck breast was served on top of the basil fried rice, instead of diced and cooked together with the fried rice. I really like that because I can see what part of the duck I'm eating. It's also delicious! The duck was crispy and savory. The basil and Thai seasoning add unique flavors to the fried rice. Generous portion. I would definitely get this again. 5/5We also got the Tonkotsu Ramen. It's your typical ramen with the standard toppings and ramen egg (ajituske tamago). The broth is creamy and not too salty. It really is perfect for the rainy weather. 4/5The service was great. The server was friendly and checked on us a couple of times. We can't wait to come back and taste other dishes.“

“Great pho with wonderful broth and tender meat. I got the pho with tripe and steak tips - tripe was super tender (fantastic because tripe has a tendency to be super chewy if overcooked). “Been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time but every time I visited the wait was always over 45 minutes. Finally decided to wait this time and I'm so glad I did! The food was so delicious that I came back two days later. Both times our wait was 45 minutes long but very worth it. I can see why they are so popular! The space is small and seating is quite limited. They do have outdoor seating but it wasn't available due to the cold, rainy weather. They open their Yelp waitlist on some days so I would recommend checking to see if the waitlist is open and joining prior to heading to the restaurant. There's only street parking but I didn't have trouble finding free parking on the same block. Both times we ordered their garlic noodles and vegetable dumplings. We also ordered their mapo tofu, garlic eggplant, and spicy wonton. Food came out super quick after ordering and was piping hot. Portions are generous and everything was so delicious!! My favorite had to be their garlic noodles and garlic eggplant! The garlic noodles are perfectly cooked and seasoned and so tasteful! The garlic eggplant is one of the best ones I've had! The eggplants were soft, savory yet sweet and pairs so well with rice or noodles! I also really liked the mapo tofu as it was flavorful, although it was spicier than I had expected. The vegetable dumplings were perfectly steamed and the filling was full of texture and flavor. The dipping sauce was soy sauce based and I would have liked the dipping sauce to be more vinegary, but it still complemented well with the dumplings. I didn't try the spicy wonton but my friend enjoyed it and it comes with a spicy dipping sauce. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've tried in Sacramento. Would highly recommend!! Definitely suggest coming with friends and ordering family-style so everyone gets to try everything! I really appreciate that they have a variety of vegetarian options and is clearly indicated in their menu. I will definitely be back to try all the other vegetarian options!“

“Food was amazing! Mango salad was perfectly balanced. Bun Bo Hue broth, condiments and side veggies were delicious. The only thing I would say is that the meats need to be cooked longer so they can be more tender. The escargot was delicious as well but a bit chewy for me. My partner did enjoy the entire platter himself though. The razor clams were perfectly seasoned IMO, but it may have been a bit on the sweet side for my partner. Lastly, the service was pretty good. “First time eating inside this place, but I have ordered takeout from another location in sac. We came around dinner time and we're immediately seated. I had high expectations since I knew their food was good. I ordered something different than my usual (beef pho) and instead ordered bun rieu. I've had the authentic dish before at a viet party and it was bomb so I also had high expectations because of this.Overall the bun rieu broth was great!! Very flavorful and I could taste the crab in the soup. I loved the abundance of crab meat balls and the noodles were cooked nicely. The tofu on the other hand was dry and tasteless but the soup made up for it. 9/10. My sister ordered the banh mi, grilled pork. She gives it a 9/10. It was a bit on the pricier side for the size it was but it was delicious and the extra cabbage and cilantro on the side was great. My sisters bf ordered the bun Bo hue and didn't have the same experience as we did and rated it a 1/10. He said that the soup wasn't flavorful and the spicy oil was the only thing that gave it some flavor, the noodles were over cooked and the beef tasted like it was boiled in water for too long. Service was good though and the vibes were chill.“
