“I used to go to Peet's on Laurel St. all the time, but they have competition! Groovy Goose is a new coffee spot in San Carlos, and their lattes are wonderful! Really good. The staff is young and friendly too. They could use a few more tables, but I'm happy to go and pick up a latte any day. They could also expand their pastry selection, but - don't tell Peet's - as for coffee, probably the best in San Carlos! I recommend.“

If you just need something nice and simple and just hang out, this is the place. People are super nice here. We always occupy that outdoor table with our dogs.“

“Best boba in my opinion. My drink of choice is the strawberry matcha latte (my husband prefers just the matcha latte). The other drinks are ok but nothing beats the strawberry matcha latte. My son, who is not a boba fan, loves the strawberry fields drink, which is strawberry puree in milk. The spot is small, a little sticky, and has some flies, and you get lots of kids, but the service is pretty good. In our most recent visit, my son accidentally knocked over his drink and the cashier immediately offered to remake his drink at no charge. It's located well and very walkable to others places for a good meal.“

Everything about the interior was modern. cozy and picturesque and I had really enjoyed staying here and working on sketches.I do want to note that I arrived on a Friday around 2pm and the place was pretty packed and their pastries had already sold out. “Such a cute and different coffee shop. I had the Honeybee latte and a tomato quiche. The latte was far better than I expected- perfect balance of sweet and flavorful. Not overly sweet at all! The quiche was very flavorful and moist and the crust was buttery and flaky. I ordered mine to go but I thoroughly enjoyed the decor while I waited for my order to be made. Cute little details all over the place. The hand doodled coffee sleeve was a fun and adorable touch. Looking forward to returning on my next visit to Burlingame.“

“Esther and Giuliano, are just two amazing people! We stopped here purely based on reviews, and it did not disappoint. The coffee was absolutely wonderful! My wife is the coffee drinker and said her latte was one of the best she's ever had. I'm not big on coffee, but if we lived near here I'd come everyday because the coffee was so good. But what truly sets them apart is their hospitality. From the moment we walked in until we left, they were both so sweet and genuine. This will be a must stop everytime we're in SF from now on.“

There is a menu but it seems more like they make what they want and sell what they have - feels very quaint and homemade Tonkatsu sandwich - big pork cutlet with a squishy bun and a generous portion of finely shredded cabbage. Yummy and crispy, pork was a touch dry. Matcha cornet was delicious, great flavor w the cream and nice soft cornet Melon pan - did not get much melon fragrance and felt a bit dry/stale, but great crisp sugar top. “Went for Breakfast Food - 4/5. The meat lovers sandwich, while having decent ingredients, had a very dry texture. Bacon was crispy and the ham scramble was on the drier side. Bread was toasted plainly, which added to the dry nature of the entire sandwich. The cheese added some softness, but textural wise, it could've used some variety. Hash browns were browned well with a nice bite. Service - 4/5. You order from the counter first than they bring out the food. Quick and friendly. Value - 3/5. Breakfast sandwiches come with a good amount of filling and hash brown sides. Price is on the expensive side for what they are, being $16.50 for most. Parking - Mall Lot (Free)“

Andytown Coffee Roasters Coffee Shops •

“Menlo Park is a really up and coming strip of restaurants and cafes south of SF. Andytown is a coffee roaster from SF that opened up in Menlo Park. It’s a really nicely designed space, with an elaborate ceiling crafted with curved wood beams and lights. The coffee is solid. I tried their house special “The Original Bird”, which has espresso on ice, soda water, topped with a house made whipped cream. It’s cool and refreshing, just enough sweetness. I also tried some of their “Wind & Sea Blend” drip coffee, which is pretty good for a drip stored in a big container. They don’t have pour over which was a mild surprise.I also tried their breakfast sandwich, which is thick toasted bread with ham, bacon, and an egg with runny yolk. It’s a bit oily and messy, but overall another solid menu item.Indoors, they have a communal table with 4 stools and a curved bench for around 4-6 indoors and another 4 tables or so outside. When it gets busy there would probably not be anywhere to sit. It’s a nice spot, always great to find another quality coffee roaster with a store front.“

It's always busy Saturday mornings, but never so busy that you can't find a spot to sit and sip your coffee or chow down on your breakfast. Their coffee is good, and we're a big fan of their bagels and that's really all we could ask for! “I was pretty impressed with my visit to Royal Donut Cafe. I didn't come for their donuts, but for their breakfast and they had some of the best country fried steak I've had a in a while. The interior is very dated so that might turn some people off, but they are expanding the restaurant and taking over the space next door. They said that there is a possibility that they open for dinner in the future too. Staff were very friendly as well. Parking in the area is certainly a pain in the area, but there are paid parking lots near by. Country Fried Steak & Eggs ($15.95) was what I ordered and it was massive. I was stuffed after eating it and the steak had the perfect breading. The sausage gravy was very tasty and the hash browns were also a large portion. The eggs they also cooked really well and they don't overcook them like I accidently do at home because I love runny eggs. It is definitely worth a visit here although I have no input on their donuts or pastries personally. Their breakfast is top tier though and you get large portions. Would recommend this breakfast spot to anyone in the area.“

Quiche Lorraine

“Great place, easy to get to, and a beloved favorite in Menlo Park. Full of students - Stanford and High School too, lots of students are wait staff.... And come back for years as workers and food-lovers Beautiful large outside patio, with umbrellas. Also limited indoor seating. Get in line to go to the counter and order, take your number and get your seat. Not sure what to get, ask the friendly counter person, they will help you choose... Take a look around - Keplers Book Store is next door also a local favorite. Great food, lots of variety, salads, pasta, desserts, get a tasty cookie and relax. Liquids? Great coffee, and loads of other selections like Beer, Wine It's on El Camino Real... and CalTrain has a station / parking lot behind the collection of stores. There's Parking Lot underneath the complex, because street parking can be difficult. Live Music played some nights, that's great fun but get there early. Go see, you'll love it.“

“Bringing authentic frenchness in California is a huge achievement, Mademoiselle Collette nailed it! From outstanding croissants that could challenge many places in France to the excellent croque madame for a great brunch, and of course the amazing fine patisseries are a must..... The place is charming, bringing a good souvenir of so many French places.....“

“Very tasty boba, well made with great portions. The employees were very nice. Not very much sitting or standing room available. Will have to sit outside somewhere around the public seating closer to parking area. You will likely need to order at the kiosk that does not take cash.“

“There's a number of Taiwanese dessert chains these days including Meets Fresh. We now have a more mom & pop shop establishment in Foster City. Sweethoney seems to be new to the mix but absolutely necessary in this plaza.Didn't checkout more than the coconut milk jelly as takeout. Oh my god, this thing is actually a coconut. It comes out in a carved, hollowed out coconut with its flesh ground and mixed in with milk and jelly. Absolutely delicious. If you're even remotely enjoy coconut flavor, this is it.Will return to check out more things.Parking: Plenty of parking in the plaza.“

ZoomCaffe Coffee Shops • $
Stanford University, 450 Broadway, Redwood City - 3.48 miles

“It's a small cafe in the Stanford medical building. I don't think you come here for gourmet food or anything. You come here if you're a patient and hungry or if you're medical staff in need of breakfast or lunch.I've stopped here a few times after some of my medical visits to Stanford. It's clean and while they have gotten rid of most seating due to Covid there are still some seating spots along the wall. And you can sit outside.Their scones are okay. I've gotten blueberry and cranberry and I think the blueberry one tastes better. I'm usually starving when I come here though so it's fine. They also have a breakfast sandwich all day but I haven't tried it yet. There's also some grab n go sandwiches and drinks too.Their mocha is not bad although they do charge extra $0.50 for decaf.“
