“Service and vibes here get 5 stars! Everyone working was super friendly and welcoming (and hilarious). It's a causal vibe bar, but was kid-friendly during dinner time. The food here is good, it's solid. They offer appetizers, bowls, and more. My favorite items were the lumpia and the bayrito! The bayrito is huge and packed full of tots and meat (I had the kalua pork). The bowls were all good looking and the portions are generous. Overall, a solid spot for bar-like food.“

“I had to give this place a try and support a Filipino business. It's a casual quick service restaurant. They have a few tables if you'd like to dine in. I ordered a Tocilog TO-GO. Good portion, good for 1-2 people. You can also add a protein for an extra cost. Tocilog is Tocino ( sweet Filipino style bacon) with a garlic rice and fried egg. It was delicious! I didn't get to take photos because I was really hungry but will definitely come back. I heard the Sisig is on point. That's what I'll get next time.“

Skewerzz Pinoy BBQ Barbecue • $$
1225 E Santa Clara St, San Jose

“It's a food truck restaurant. But they have covered seating which they share with another pop up Mexican restaurant.A sign in the sidewalk directs you inside a driveway. It's the covered restaurant right there in the left. You can't tell because the sign is for the restaurant they share the eating space with.Menu is very limited but it's well prepare and good.Lumpia is fresh; he rolls and then deep fries them right there. The chicken with garlic rice is tasty. The garlic rice is actually white rice topped with toasted garlic. Try the pork and tocino skewers.“

“Valerio's is a solid Filipino bakery. There are walls and walls of Fresh made in store filipino breads. The selection is solid!! There are also MANY various Filipino treats and desserts- Karioka (IFYKY), Chocolate Crinkle cookies, Ube Crinkle Cookies, Leche Flan, just to name a few. I was there this past Saturday and there was a solid line in the store, but 2 cashiers help keep things moving along quickly and efficiently. Being a Saturday, i had the pleasure of watching one of the workers bagging flesh out of the oven pan de sal right into the bag. It was stacks and stacks of bread. It looked awesome and smelled ever better. Parking can get crazy here, so be mindful (I suggest parking past Valerio). They take cash or card.“

“I enjoy the Kilawin at this place during the weekends; however, it is a bit pricey for my liking. Considering the cost, I might as well take matters into my own hands, purchase a whole goat or a portion of it, and prepare it at home. Nevertheless, backyard slaughtering isn't feasible, and time constraints prevent me from doing it myself. Despite this, the time saved is well worth the effort of paying for the Kilawin or Kaldereta. When it comes to Chicharons, Lechon Kawali, and Lumpia, it's advisable to save those cravings for Seafood City. Anywho, Gabriel's Food Market offers a selection that includes a fridge on the side containing Filipino street food like fishballs, which happen to be my favorite. However, the taste might be less authentic due to FDA regulations, unlike what I experienced back in the Philippines. Besides that, it's a compact mini market within a one-story business building with plenty more units, crampy enough to make your clothes smell like lumpia and chocolate meat. The parking lot is spacious, providing plenty of room, especially during less busy hours.“

“I ordered a plate of tapsilog here and it was kinda pricey. Wait time was okay, maybe somewhere around 5-10 min. I would suggest ordering ahead of time if you're in a rush. Great service, they offered an extra vinegar if I wanted. Price was justified because when I got home, the serving of tapa was more than enough. I actually almost ran out of rice. Very delicious, too! Definitely would come back and order more next time I'm craving tapsilog.“
