“How did we not know about this place? Amazing Ramen in a simple but classy setting. Much more than just ‘that place opposite Bristol Farms’. Spicy Mazemen was delicious with plenty of flavor and the right amount of ‘kick’. Will definitely now keep this on our list of regular places locally.“

“Tasty broth and really well packaged for delivery ? our food also arrived hot which is never expected with delivery but always appreciated!
We got 1 Blazed and 1 Classic. I would suggest adding raw garlic. The pork belly was tender and the noodles were chewy!
All in all really solid, and we look forward to ordering again! Thank you for feeding us well!“

“Food is outstanding. Been a fan since the late 90's. Their Nabeyaki Udon is the best I have ever eaten. If you want it the way it is served in Japan, ask them to use a fresh, rather than hardboiled, egg. To go food can be frustrating. If they say 30 minutes, figure at least an hour.“

“My friend and I had an exquisite dining experience at Bar Sawa. Each course was prepared and presented to perfection. The place was a little tricky to find; there were no signs, and it was in the basement of a very unexpected building. You can also only get down there through the middle elevator! The instructions to get to the restaurant were emailed, but I didn't get to read it in time, so it was my fault. ? We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, ambiance and the entire experience. Highly recommend!“

“My experience at Omakase by Osen was great! This was my first Omakase experience and will certainly not be my last. All of the courses offered for the Nagatsuki Omakase were delicious, but my favorites had to be the wagyu wrap and egg custard. The quality was great, but for the amount of food you get, $140 may not be worth it to you if you expect to be totally full after. However, I definitely value the dining experience that comes with the food so it was worth it for me. The waitresses were so attentive and even did a little extra for me since it was my birthday. I would highly recommend!“

“This little neighborhood gem is worth visiting! The sushi was elegantly presented and so flavorful. Even the sticky rice was so perfectly cooked and tender. Chef’s wife was very kind and took the time to explain the various specialty rolls. Stop thinking and just do it! You won’t regret it“

“We went to Azabu to celebrate our anniversary and what a perfect place to go for the occasion. The vibe is fun and modern, the craft cocktails were delish and the service was awesome. The entrees are fun and exciting with a smoking dome over one and a sizzling rock on another. And we ended it with a sparkler on our dessert! It was a fantastic night out and was truly fun and special. We will definitely be back!“

“The restaurant offers an interesting concept, the chefs prepare the food in front of you. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. Seating is limited, so sometimes you have to wait 15 minutes for a table. We were lucky, we got our turn earlier. The service is nice, but sometimes it took them longer before we could order. I missed some music in the restaurant, because it was quiet there and I could also hear what the guests on the other side were talking about. Prices for sushi are higher, but worth a try.“

“I am Korean and have been to many sushi, tempura, and omakase restaurants in Sapporo.
It's good here. It's good, but it's really crappy. It's no exaggeration to say that it's salt sushi. When Koreans go, please ask for a little less seasoning. Otherwise, you'll feel like you're eating from a soy sauce container.
And it's so, so, so cold. I'm not a neta, but I go to Michelin and pay $500, so I can't help but wonder why I'm shivering from the cold. And when I hold the nigiri, I don't know if it's a habit, but every time I hold it, I take a small amount of rice... a little bit from the nigiri. It feels a bit like an amateur. The fact that there were a lot of tsumami made was enough to give that feeling.
And the chef speaks a little Korean.
This business could get better if they just don't use Chrome Hearts chopsticks and show a little more consideration for their customers. The food was good, and except for the saltiness, the sushi and neta were good.“

“This is a gem! I’m a big fan of Omakase sushi and this place did not disappoint. I highly recommend sitting at the bar. Service was impeccable, friendly, and always ready. Attention to detail was superb! I didn’t take any photos because they asked me to silence my phones (you can still take photos), but I wanted to be respectful and also focus on my taste buds and not my phone. Admittedly this place doesn’t look much from the outside (Weller Court could use some updates), but don’t be afraid to step inside. One suggestion for them is to have a sake pairing option as I am a sake lover. I did get their cold sake that ended up tasting wonderful, so I’m not complaining. As for price, I think it’s reasonable for an Omakase place like this. You’re really paying for the experience. Without drinks, I think it’s around $200 for a full course meal and tax/tip. Highly recommend!“

“Low key casual place. Clean restaurant and extensive menu. It was busy but not a long line. We enjoyed our spicy tuna roll, Steve had spicy tuna bowl with rice and we shared yellow tail sushi. There is a bar at the back where you grab your own wasabi and ginger. I noticed something I had never seen before in one of the containers it looked charred. So we tried it, it is seaweed and It Was Delicious and crispy but even meaty (this is difficult to explain) you must try it for yourself but I believe it adds umami to the meal in such a unique and unexpected way. I really enjoyed our visit. I’d eat here again when I’m passing through Kore town in a heart beat“

Excellent, Friendly customer service. Fair prices overall. Their catering items look amazing! Next Party, I know where to come and get some food!!
Parking: Usually no parking in front of establishment but you can find parking around the block near the houses. The closer to the street is paid parking, the further out it's free.“

“Went here for my wife’s birthday. The food was very good but not worth $1500 for two of us. The dining area was empty and there’s an up charge to sit at the counter. I would’ve taken a table 2 feet behind our counter seats if I knew it was that close to the bar. The space is not impressive and the kitchen is not what you’d expect from a typical Michelin restaurant. Most of the dishes were very good but I didn’t think it justified the price point. We chose the standard omakase with sake pairing option. No truffles, caviar, live shrimps or anything impressive. The shrimps and uni were from Santa Barbara and they’re readily available at Santa Monica seafood at a very reasonable price. The sake pairing was also the standard paring. I can’t imaging how much our dinner would’ve cost if we stepped up to the deluxe omakase and sake pairing. The food was definitely above and better than most sushi spots in LA but $1500 for two with no high end ingredients is ridiculous. I’ve paid more at places like Sushi Ginza Onodera but at least their ingredients are high end. You’re getting tons of caviar, truffles, live shrimp from Japan that comes in a box of sawdust, top grade toro from Tokyo and more. Sorry but I cannot recommend Morihiro at $750 a head“

“My wife and I have enjoyed this place for the last 40 plus years. We have tried other so called great sushi bars all over town. There is just no comparison. This is traditional Japanese sushi. So be aware, you cannot order crunchy roll, dynamite or any of that other stuff. Only traditional...“

“Shinkai sits low key in this multi-use complex within the heart of downtown Alhambra. We visited during their soft opening yesterday and tried out their omakase which was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Chef Alan and Dedy did a great job at the presentation on the following dishes. 1. Okinawa seaweed shooter with yamaimo and ikura 2. Jellyfish with kizami wasabi and 2 hr slow cooked abalone 3. Kumamoto oysters with green onion and ikura/uni 4. Shima aji, Chu toro and otoro 5. Sea Bream and golden eye snapper 6. Toro tartare with uni, ikura, truffle and avocado 7. Santa Barbara uni with black caviar and ikura 8. Japanese kegani 9. Black cod over mashed yam and drizzled with yuzu miso 10. Hokkaido scallop with Hokkaido uni and black caviar 11. Wagyu sushi We look forward to visiting again as they refine their processes and dishes during their soft opening. It's definitely nice to have a local sushi spot in SGV rather than having to head to LA or further for an omakase sushi dinner.“

“My girlfriend and I recently visited Sushigah during a brief trip from San Diego, and we were thoroughly impressed. With high expectations for sushi, we found Sushigah to be exceptional. We began with a seaweed salad and Crispy Rice, followed by Salmon Sashimi, the Cucumber Special Roll, a Salmon Handroll, and a Spicy Salmon Roll.
Each dish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with the salmon sashimi practically melting in our mouths. The temperature of the dishes was perfect, and the presentation was outstanding. Sushigah has definitely earned a spot as a must-visit destination for us whenever we're in Pasadena.“

“Deliberately hard to find from the outside, refined Japanese craftsmanship inside, with just enough Los Angeles flair.
Food is superb, and if you can snag a reservation to one of the Kaneyoshi x Inaba collaboration nights, it's even better, if that's believable. The latter are not cheap (paying two chefs, each with their own Michelin star, never is), but it's so good.
Parking: Garage parking. Small sign right by entrance.“

“Best sushi in LA! Everything melted in your mouth! The fish is fresh, the price is affordable, and the service is great! It looks like a hole in the wall - but wow :)) We eat there once a week and love it! Drove all the way from Studio City to have dinner there - 2 hours each way in traffic - so that's obviously what it says :)) Haha Just love it!“

“Delicious food but the service could be slightly better! We were initially denied a free hand roll even our reservation was based on their special menu (comes with a free hand roll) and promotion during the LA Food Festival. They don’t do valet parking. It cost me $30 to pay for the parking at around the corner while my meal cost $300. It was for a one-time experience only but it was worth it!
Parking: I parked at Ava Tokyo garage B. It cost $29 for three hours. This is the one closest to the restaurant.“

“They have the best sushi ever! A La Carte or Omakase but to be able to choose what you want and it’s all extremely fresh and good quality. Great beer and sake. They play good music and it’s all around great vibes. The service was also the best around. At the end we asked for Natto hand rolls (not on menu) and they made them!“

“So we normally have our regular sushi spots. Saw this place with a 4.9 rating and decided to dine here. I guess the place is relatively new. Not much parking in front. It's a small parking lot. There is plenty of parking in the back. Walking in I was really impressed. The place has a nice and welcoming vibe. We really liked the decor. It's really simple but not too overwhelming. The staff are super nice and really attentive. Also they are super knowledgeable about the menu. They were really sweet to our 9 month old daughter which was nice. To be honest you really do get what you pay for. Every piece of sushi was immaculate and high quality fish. I've been to a lot of sushi places and this one has to be the best one so far by a long shot. With the atmosphere/vibe, paired with amazing chefs and waitresses plus the high quality sushi this place is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. I'm definitely coming back here. Just have to save up a bit since it is a bit pricey but you really get the amazing quality food and service. Not to mention the alcohol selection is too notch as well. For beer I recommend the Echigo rice beer. For sake we got the koshi no kanbai tokusen sake which was really smooth with a nice fragrant finish. All in all of give this place a 10 of 10. Definitely a place to go if you really do enjoy high quality sushi and amazing service
Parking: Parking in the back
Kid-friendliness: The waitresses were super sweet and kind to our 10 month old daughter.“

“This small Sushi restaurant has some of the best tasting rolls I've ever tasted! I tried their Fresh water eel and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was! The texture and flavor were perfect. I had their Terriaki Bento Box and it was delicious! The chicken was flavourful and the Gyozas were crispy and soo good! The portions are very generous and we enjoyed the Japanese decor. Overall this little Sushi restaurant is a gem hidden on a street corner! If you live in Montebello and enjoy Sushi and love Japanese ambiance this is a great place to eat.“

“4.5 ⭐️s for overall experience! My friend, her kids, and I enjoyed our meal in mostly every way - flavors, service, and cleanliness. The house salad was healthy (not just iceberg lettuce) and had a generous portion for one person. My friend said it was super delicious - Sunset roll, blue crab roll, and miso black cod were on point flavor wise. Only negatives were that the seaweed was a bit chewy (not super tough though) and the soup slightly salty. The staff was kind, friendly, attentive, and patient - hard to come by these days. Prices are reasonable and I plan to come back. Parking is tougher at times in this plaza, but at some point, you'll find a spot.“

“This place is such good vibes. Great food, elevated, tree-shaded outdoor patio or indoor sushi bar seating. Great casual date spot. “Loved stopping by this tiny cafe, such a beautiful interior design. This cafe is a small area in the entrance of their restaurant that has a few chairs. We ordered one yuzu custard pastry (subtle flavor, not very sweet, great texture and flakiness), a hot Amai con panna (a nice cinnamon and cream espresso) and another cold drink I cannot remember the name of (but it is the one pictured here) both drinks were nice but just a heads up they are super sweet. The minimal and sleek interior design is unique and has a few seats. It’s not the type of cafe to sit for a long time, it’s more of somewhere you come for a short visit to be present with a friend and enjoy unique caffeinated cocktails.“

“Once a year, I’m in town just down the street for a convention. A couple of years ago I found this place and I always… Always come back when I’m nearby. Quality of food, service, and atmosphere is second to none. The lunch specials are reasonably priced, and the hand rolls are super and perfectly made. I highly recommend this small gem!
Insider tip…
Don’t bother trying to park on the street, there is free parking behind the building.
Parking: There’s a large parking lot behind the row of buildings.“

“First the atmosphere: it's a cute, well put together little Japanese restaurant. Walls line with art and photos. You can read the history of the place as you eat. Dining tables and a bar to sit and enjoy a meal.Second, the food: impeccable food displayed on nice plates. Large chunks of fish in the sushi rolls. Spicy tuna and salmon roll had a smooth texture and world-class taste. I did not use soy sauce or because the fish was amazing by itself. This alone will bring me back. I ordered a combo with beef teriyaki and pork cutlet. The pork cutlet was succulent. Pick it up with chopsticks and marvel at the juiced flow. The crust had standalone flavor that I might use as a topping by itself if that were an option. The beef was cooked to perfection. The yeriyaki sauce had a unique taste to it. Came with soup and salad. Miso is a simple dish that this establishment has perfected. The salad was a standard side salad with ginger dressing. Great way to cleanse the palatte. Tempura was also served, and it was again a world-class dish. Fresh tasting veggies and two healthy shrimp.Lastly, the service:the older woman who was there was a gem, and this review is not about her. This review is about the young, inexperienced waitress. I don't think she has enough experience to be serving folks, so this may not be the best place for her to learn. This establishment is the longest running japanese restaurant in Los Angeles. That comes with a heavy burden. The young waitress was not warm or inviting. These two traits are set in stone within japanese culture. As the older woman tried coaching the younger, she younger woman gave dirty looks and rolled her eyes. She seemed uninterested and worse than that, unwilling to learn from her elder. I will be back at some point and hope to see how her journey is going.Overall, you will be satisfied here. Please come one and all to a modern marvel of japanese cuisine in the greater Los Angeles area.“

“This place was amazing. My husband and I have been looking for a new sushi spot for a while. It was delicious. I'm vegetarian and was worried they would have nothing for me. I had the garlic edimami veggie roll and vegetable tempura. Delicious. My husband had the baked salmon roll and baked lobster roll. He can't stop talking about it. To top it off the menus had scripture on them. "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13 ... Love it!!!“
