“I was seated right away during lunch time and it wasn't too busy. My favorite and reason for my visit was to have the torikawa (chicken skin skewers) I also had the Bento with the shrimp tempura and shioyaki salmon. Everything was delicious 😋 I almost forgot to take photos as I was hungry lol... price was also reasonable.“

“A big shout out to Danny.
I previously ordered the Chips and Dip which I love. Originally, I was concerned about how spicy the Aioli was but to my surprise, it was just right. I can't speak as to the atmosphere, but I want to recognize Danny in the South San Francisco location. On October 4, I placed an order with Truffle Poke Bar through Grubhub. I ordered three items, the mango (which is delicious), an order of Chips & Dip and an extra order of the Aioli Dip. Of the three items two were delivered. I immediately reached out to Grubhub and spoke with a supervisor who refused to refund my money for the missing item stating I received too many refunds. I then reached out to Truffle Poke Bar and was contacted the following day by Danny who said he would make things right and that I could order $20 worth of food. Of note is that he agreed that Grubhub frequently misdelivers order. He emphasized with me in that Grubhub refused to issue a refund for a less than $5 item.“

“I've ordered delivery from here 5 times.
Solid food (except the one time I had a scale in my sushi roll). Not bad service (wish they'd be more accommodating with requests). Takes too damn long to make (~80 min ETA every time on DoorDash).
Prefer Sushi Shio. every. single. time.
P.S. will add more photos of the food if I ever order from here again.“

“This was truly exquisite. The executive chef Shin I believe is a master at his craft and you felt this through every course. I could not have had a better first omakase experience. The wait staff was very kind and mindful. For someone who is weary of the cost I would say it was worth every penny. The quality of the fish was beyond anything I had ever seen before. The cod in one of the fist courses dissipated like melted butter in your mouth. I could not recommend Akikos more.“

“Kuma on Valencia is the real deal. I’m picky about my sushi and this place keeps passing the test. I’ve been three times in person and even ordered delivery twice, and every time the fish has been fresh, generous, and just really good.
If you want to splurge, go wild with their nigiri - so many cuts to choose from and all beautifully done. The toro handroll is so decadent I’m salivating thinking about it. If you don’t, the rolls are deliciousssss. My most memorable bite so far was their Zeitgeist roll with toro, eggplant tempura, and purple rice. Honestly a work of art.
The sake menu is awesome, the staff is genuinely kind, and the sushi bar has that fun buzz without being too much. It’s the kind of spot where you can go casual on a weeknight or post up for a longer dinner and just keep ordering “one more thing.”“

“Good for lunch. Really value for your money. I had the sashimi lunch set and my wife had the chicken wing and salmon sushi set and both were really fresh and good. Will definitely come again ! Weekdays - reservations not really needed, but I've come by on weekends and you should make reservations.“

“Great sushi, perfectly prepared and presented. So glad I walked a few more blocks to go there. Small with a very friendly staff (my 2 Buddhi’s) made for enjoyable experience. Come to town at least once a year; plan to be back.“

“I was told to check this sushi restaurant out because I very picky when it comes to eating raw fish. The hamachi was delectable buttery fresh just the way I like it. The service was immaculate the food was divine. The ambience was peaceful. The feng shui of the restaurant makes you feel like you are at home. I highly recommend the establishment to anyone who cares about clean food properly prepared. This is a must go to restaurant if you enjoy sushi. 10 out of 5 stars is my rating. I always over order when I enjoy my first course. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and service that you receive.“

“We stumbled upon Sushi Hashiri because the mall was closed, which turned out for the best. Executive Chef Toshiaki Ono is an expert in his craft. The fish is fresh and flavorful, and the nigiri and rolls are exquisite. I’d recommend everything we ate, but my favorites were the goldeneye snapper nigiri, Hokkaido uni, and the tuna belly & takuan roll. Service was exceptional. I wish I knew the name of our waiter — she was so friendly and helpful. Kenichiro (Head Hospitality) was also friendly and so knowledgeable about the sake and whiskey. The pairings he suggested were perfect. The ambiance was lovely and unpretentious. We really enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back. Next time we’ll try the omakase!“

“I was looking for a high end sushi restaurant close to the Orpheum as I had tickets last night to see Les Miz. Nakama Sushi showed up when I googled for such a restaurant type. It was my first time to this place. Very attentive service. We ordered to special chef's omakase dinner. Wow! 4 amazing appetizers, the sweetest sashimi (so fresh and melts in your mouth tender), with subtle delicious flavors, chawanmushi, sushi hand roll, miso soup and a lovely dessert. Well worth it. Loved the food, loved the experience.“

“If you are missing Japanese authentic sushi, Sakana is the place to go. I ordered Omakase Sushi Nigiri ($35 as of August 2025). All sushis will meet your expectations, including taste, freshness (I believe this is the most critical factor in judging a sushi restaurant, and Sakana met my standards), and presentation. I did not expect to find fresh, high-quality sea urchin.
If you're looking for tasty side dishes, I recommend Nanbanduke or Hamachi-kama. On the healthy side, you may try Eggplant Nibitashi or Ohitashi. If you try rolls, I recommend the California Roll.
This may not be the fancy, top-end restaurant for your first date. Instead, you want to go there every Tuesday for a cozy atmosphere and affordable fresh fish. I ordered hot green tea, which was filled constantly and very hot, a tradition at Japanese sushi restaurants. Small details matter, and I liked them all.
Easy five-star.“

“This place has very authentic sushi. Imported Japanese fish are fresh and flavorful. The other appetizers and rolls are excellent too. The only negative is they are very busy so our dinner felt a bit rushed. But if you are looking for good food, this place is one of the best Japanese restaurants on the peninsula.“

“I rarely leave reviews for restaurants but I couldn't not do it for Lion. The owner and her husband Chef Tom were so incredibly sweet; what would have been tricky to serve my in-laws and a fussy 1 year old ended up being the most amazing experience. The service was top notch and fast, the inside of the restaurant is fun and romantic, and on top of that, ALL our food was phenomenal - my husband and I agreed that we want to keep coming back and make it one of our regulars. Thank you Lion for such a memorable night for our family 💜“

“We had an amazing dining experience! The food was fantastic, and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. We followed his recommendations and ordered the chef’s choice bowl, sushi tacos, salad, and toro—and he was absolutely right. Everything was so delicious, I nearly swallowed my tongue! I think my favorite was the sushi tacos—they were out of this world. Highly recommend!“

“I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this sushi place! The prices might be a little high for the amount you get, but the quality is absolutely there. As long as you keep in mind that you might need to order a little more than normal to fill up, this is an excellent place to get sushi from.
The only not-so-great thing is that the chopsticks they gave me had jagged pieces of wood coming off them, and I got a bit of a splinter, but that's okay I won't hold it against them. 😆“

“Warakubune is a hidden gem in the mission! This small business is one that I always come to when I'm in town. The conveyor belt setup makes it so easy and quick to grab, so I highly recommend coming here if you want to start eating immediately! The fish is really fresh and they don't skimp on the nigiri/roll insides. I like to get tobiko (fish roe) nigiri and they packed it so much, it was overflowing. My favorite thing is that they use real king crab instead of surimi 🤤
The service here is also great! There is a really sweet lady I always see working there and she greets me with a kind smile every time. Really wonderful service. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!“

“Nice little spot! Emphasis on little. Went in, was the only diner for a while until a few other folks came in. Sat at the counter that had a convenient foot bar. Staff was attentive. The music was really calming too.

“The restaurant is located in Richmond close to the Golden Gate Park (Polo Field). They offer a good selection of Japanese fares (fresh sushi, ramen, udon, etc). We grabbed a quick delicious lunch there before the concert starts in the park, and it was a great lunch deal. The lunch bento box was only $24 including miso soup!“

“Kamu Sushi in South San Francisco is a cozy, small gem that really makes every visit special. Their beer and sake is top-notch and pairs beautifully with the meal. The extra spicy edamame is a fiery delight, while the seafood options like lobster and mussels are impeccably fresh. The nigiri and Spicy Spider Roll round out an unforgettable culinary experience. A must-visit for an intimate evening of great food and drink. Cheers!“
