“I haven't been here since the first week they opened a couple of years ago. The place is very clean. The food is good quality. I had a bagel with smoked salmon, the avocado was a nice touch. I thought it strange they waited to make coffee after I ordered it. At least it was fresh. And I suppose if you call it "Americano" you can charge $4 for a plain cup of coffee. The young man working here had to be shown how to do almost everything by the woman who knew what she was doing. I hope it was his first day. Someone needs to teach him that it's rude to wear earbuds while talking with customers. They had a couple of flavor creamers for the coffee but no stir sticks. When I asked for one, I got a plastic spoon, which is a bit of a waste.“

“Whether you are popping in for a glass of wine before shopping at Sepulveda next door or having dinner of their wonderful specials that change daily (check Instagram), you will enjoy your experience at Juan Jasper. Lots of lively conversations between the staff and patrons (while still being attentive), varied and upbeat music playing just loud enough in the background, and a direct view of the kitchen makes for a wonderful atmosphere. A small act of consideration and respect by a customer is rewarded by the generous proprietor. This is what service and dining should be. You can see why folks happily wait to get a seat at this local gem. Cannot recommend enough: great for lunch and dinner.“

“Portuguese inspired coffee shop with a pleasant outdoor space. Their lattes are hit or half-hit, depends on who your barista is. Their tarts are amazing. And their vibe is excellent. The loaves of sourdough they sell are made by a local baker. I wanted to love it, partially bc I love the hype, partially bc it was like $15, but honestly it was just okay. Prager Bros is still light years ahead.... Still, the place is fun, good quality, and adds a lot to the neighborhood.“

“Delicious brunch! We enjoyed the Somali Malawian which was absolutely delightful—cheesy, hearty, and spiced. We also had the duck and sweet potato hash that was topped with a super fresh salad. If you enjoy a savory dense bread, the Afghan sweet bread was a great end to our meal, as the citrus butter was to die for. Will definitely be going back!“

“This is one of the best spots in Southeast. Get plugged into the community while sipping some great drinks and enjoying some surprisingly quality food. It's worth going out of your way for if you're not in the neighborhood; but if you're already local, you're probably already here.Parking: Limited street parking, so you may need to walk a bit.“

“On vacation and took a quick trip into the Cafe. Beautiful Art and Atmosphere. The barista that took care of us made our drinks great, just wish a bit more flavor came through! But on the flip side, if you like to taste the espresso, this is the place for you!“

“Love this coffee shop. Feel like right now coffee shops focus a lot on aesthetics vs quality of coffee. This place does both. It’s a lovely coffee shop and their coffee is delicious. Sage, palosanto , thyme, mint on my coffee? Yes please! Highly recommend ✨“

“Probably my 2nd or 3rd visit ever - been craving it and was washing clothes down the street. If the delicious smell of all the food doesn’t lure you in, you’re missing out. Such a simple menu, yet food is packed with flavor! Got the turkey chipotle and Mexican mocha. Great folks and atmosphere and adequate wait for the food. Love that they have space for local artists to showcase their work and a section for business cards. What a great way to build community while bringing rich flavors to the neighborhood.“

“If your like me and grew up somewhere in New England with an amazing clam shack nearby where you lived then you probably also know you can't find whole belly clams anywhere out here. Except of course Pete's. Pete drives to the airport 3 times a week I'm told to pick up his shipment of fresh New England Maine lobster and seafood. His cooks have been taught well how to fry them to perfection. It's a true neighborhood restaurant with nice people, excellent service and a product that cannot be found anywhere else in San Diego. AMAZING! I have been going there for years. If you want to meet Pete you'll have to go for lunch. Seems like he's there every day. If it's dinner you'll be served by one of his people. All the same people I've seen for many years which is another sign of a good restaurant.“

“This is a small cafe that has been around a long time. As such, it's not necessarily trendy or have great decor, but it is a nice place. Our waitress was good and the food was also good. If you want a great sloppy Joe, or a good salad, this is a good place. Plus they serve a few vegetarian dishes.Parking: The parking lot is small, but we found parking at lunch time.Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely wheelchair accessible.“

“4.5 stars We arrived on a Thursday morning and found that there was very little free parking. Paid parking is plentiful and we had to walk a bit to find free parking. The inside of this place is just great. Plenty of art and plants make this place really feel cozy and great place to hang out. We ordered a scone with peanut butter ube butter, a black sesame latte, and a pandan latte. The lattes took a while to come out, but the scone came out fast. The scone itself was solid and the addition of the PB-Ube butter was nice...it really brought creaminess to the party. Once the lattes came we gave them a sip. The black sesame latte was fine. I was unsure about the addition of activated charcoal, but I didn't really taste it. I would have wanted to taste more black sesame. The pandan latte was very good. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was very satisfying. I definitely want to come back here, as it seems like a cool night time hang out spot. On an unrelated note: the bathroom smelled GREAT! (not sarcastic)“

“Best place to bring a toddler for breakfast/lunch. The staff was lovely. Tasty, comfort food with good pricing. Kids pancake was in the shape of Micky so that was a bonus! And the best thing of all: the planes! We sat facing the air strip and between watching planes take off, helicopters flying overhead and the toy plane the waitress brought my son to enjoy while waiting for his food - it was nonstop entertainment. Will be back!!“

“As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff and seated right away. A great start to an even better meal! My fiancèe and I ordered the Honeymoon latte (vanilla latte sweetened with honey) and a Dirty Chai to start, both were super delicious, beautiful and handcrafted to perfection. For our meals my fiancèe ordered the Beefee Benedict which is served with Kufta (think Mediterranean "meatloaf" with robust herbs and spices) and a house blend cheese on top of English muffins and a made from scratch Hollandaise sauce. And I had ordered the Shakshuka "Special" which is on the regular menu, that's just how they named this dish and that comes with grilled onions and peppers, Kufta, two sunny side eggs in a rich and perfectly acidic tomato puree and houseblend cheese with a house made Bread dome on top of the whole dish. Delicious is an understatement, the food, the drinks the atmosphere, I mean everything fit so prefect. They have a little taste of different cultures and offer healthy alternatives and everything is made in house and I could not say anything bad about this place. 10 out of 10 recommend and we will definitely be coming back to try other amazing dishes.“
“IT'S PINKY'S!!! I like the location right on university ave. We found this place just driving by.The service was great, the atmosphere is chill, and the café is bomb! “Did it live up to the hype? Yes, yes, and yes. Ever since I got back from New York where I had some of the best banana pudding, I've been on the hunt for something similar in San Diego. I found myself near the area, so I stopped by to try Extraordinary Banana pudding, and I am so glad I did. They had many different flavors but I am basic and like original stuff, so I went with the regular and also tried the banana pudding cupcake. The pudding was fluffy, smooth, had fresh bananas, and wafers - it was so delicious. The cupcake was also just as good, it reminded me of banana bread in cupcake form. The only thing I wish was different is the packaging and the pudding to have more wafers, but that is obviously a personal preference. The owner is also very friendly and welcoming. Large trays were available, but I believe those need to be ordered in advance. It is a bit pricey, but what isn't, inflation is everywhere. Overall, I will be back for more!“

I mean it‘s 2024!“
“Cute space, great coffee. All sizes get 2 shots of espresso. Decided on their Honey Lavender latte - delicious. Hubby wanted his usual Caramel Macchiato, so Caramel Latte is it. Kids got hot chocolate, my son described it tasted like marshmallow. Overall good!“

“I was craving some yummy coffee and decided to try this place out. I got a large black salted caramel latte and the hubby got their new strawberry chai tea latte. Both were delicious and flavorful. The girl that took our order was very sweet and even made some suggestions for next time. The inside was full so there was no seating available. They also have some pastries available to go along with their hot drinks.“

“Good selections but most dishes have cheese ? but menu descriptions don't state that it has cheese. I tried the corn beef hash with eggs. It was okay but the hash was very salty I suppose if you mix the potatoes and eggs with the hash it will tame the saltiness of the hash. Coffee ☕️ is good especially since there is a selection to choose from.“

“The atmosphere was amazing, super chill employee and very nice. The prices were very reasonable too, and best of all the coffee was actually great, I've been to many coffee shops that have a wonderful environment but terrible coffee and this is definitely NOT one of them. “This is an amazing hole-in-the-wall Cafe. It's run by mom and pop with amazing and tasty pastries. I'm a big fan of their empanadas. They come in beef and chicken. Soooooo yummy and flavorful! The kind lady that runs this Cafe is so so sweet and so welcoming. I've only went twice so far because I was craving empanadas and the place I usually go to ran out, and the kind lady remembered me from just meeting me once. She's so sweet. And everything else is just as amazing. So instead of the other place I usually went to, I'm only going here from now on!!!“

“One of my go-to coffee shops that I visit monthly to get freshly roasted beans. They have a long list of coffee beans, along with roasting dates and a little backstory on the production of the coffee beans itself. They even sell 5lb bottles of coffee beans. Their prices are reasonable compared to other roasters in SD.Parking: They have only a handful of parking spots inside but there is a good amount of street parking.“

“Pros: baristas are very friendly and the latte and breakfast burrito I had was pretty good. I also appreciate how many tables / seating they have.Cons: the music is very loud and gave me a headache. Not good for people with noise sensitivities. This also made it impossible to hear the person across the table from me because everyone around us was trying to talk over the noise of the music.“

“The food here was so great like I always remember this place was highly recommend to have the biggest and the best burritos specializing in California burritos you can't find any place else that can duplicate the authentic taste and preparation of variety of food and beverages the tortillas taste homemade maíz and the combo plates were very big portions and authentic traditional Mexican cuisine and served with a lot of love and care and everyone was so friendly and helpful the place was very clean and well taken care of the upkeep was very good for my standard quick fast and delicious food takes very kinda a payment except checks and communication was very bilingual and the service was outstanding“

“I have passed by Izzy's so many times over so many years and the place is easy to miss. If you miss it, you are missing out! Amazing food, friendly service. It is always packed, so be prepared to wait. Although, you really won't wait too long. And, it's totally worth the wait! Be sure to get their coffee cake muffin, and ask for one to go! Can't go wrong with the corned beef hash. I am always on the lookout for a small breakfast place to be my go-to. This is the one!“

“The look and feel of this place is cozy and easygoing. They have some smooth jazz playing, which is refreshing. There was a great selection of drinks. The pastries look really good, and the coffee is also fresh and taken care of. What really got me was the food!I got the eggs Benedict and oh my God I have never in my whole life ever had a ham steak that tasted this incredible! I didn't even recognise the ham at first because I was expecting an entirely different flavor and texture like every other ham steak I've ever had. These guys do it justice! The rest of the eggs Benedict was just as carefully created.“
“Cute shop and interesting choices! I'd come back but because there was only one person working the cash register and making the boba teas, it took a long time just to get one drink. The person at the counter was very nice and helpful. I just felt bad for him because there were 20 other people in the tea spot trying to order or wait for their teas and people kept coming in to order, which delayed the drinks coming out even more. The cashier/barista was a bit overwhelmed. I'd probably go to a tea house that staffs properly next time. The orange jasmine green tea drink was good otherwise!“

“Cute little cafe. I love all the decor. Lots of stuff from the 50's-70's. Lunch pails, old collectors soda bottles from big sports event. Lots of sports memorabilia. Lots to looks at. I like the vibe but the music was an odd choice. It was like, friday night slow jams. Keith Sweat type music. It was just funny to me. The server was very nice. I ordered the classic Benedict. It was okay, the sauce was a little sweet. The hash browns were really good though. My husband ordered the Reuben. It was tasty. The fries were ridiculously good. Honestly, the best fries I've had in a while. Definitely try some of you stop by.“

“I've been here several times to do some remote work and I absolutely love it. I always order a chai latte and a margarita pizza. Chai is a always a hit and the freshly made pizza is amazing! “So there are two downsides- this place is hard to find and they don't serve a full food menu (presumably because park social is 2 blocks away). However, they are dog friendly, the coffee was good and everything was reasonably priced. The decor was as adorable and it was very relaxing. The barista wasn't super friendly and didnt seem to be a fan of dogs from the way he was looking at mine.“

“Great coffee and drinks. The food is DELICIOUS! The English muffin sandwich is made from scratch (yes, the bread is house-made) and the Cubano sandwich is my favorite thing on the menu. The opening crew is usually 1-2 people and there can be a bit of a wait in line as they sort of struggle with the amount of people coming in (the same person taking orders is also making the drinks), but they’re incredibly polite and their service does not suffer at all. My new favorite early morning place.Parking: Plenty of free parking until 9am (metered) on Third Avenue. After 9am is when the parking starts to fill up and you may have trouble finding an open spot. There is more parking in the streets around the block.“

“Inconspicuously small deli spot in Jamul. When you pass by it may not look like much from the outside, but TRUST it's a hidden gem. Love this place - it's my favorite deli. It's family run by Manoli and his wife Rosio. Their son Milton also helps them out. They've been in business for almost 30 years. One bite of their pastrami sandwich will explain it all. They are so sweet and just the nicest and welcoming family. I love their consistency, every time you walk in the door you're greeted with a warm smile and food is always made with love. They don't make it til you order it and taste homemade. Give it a try and you'll find why they've lasted through time. From the sandwiches, their salads to their smoothies. You can never go wrong and the portions have not been affected by inflation. Same portion size.“
