“I want to start this review stating, I do not eat fish unless it is battered and fried. So, naturally, the only way I'll eat a fish taco is a battered and fried fish taco. I ordered the chipotle fish taco, not knowing it was not a fried fish taco. I was hesitant, but after I took my first bite... I couldn't believe how insanely delicious this taco was!!!! Not only was it absolutely flavorful... it was a large fish taco!!! So many good flavors! The fish was not fishy or mushy and was seasoned and possibly pan fried to give a texture contrast. The chipotle sauce was yummy and had that kick that I love. Loved all the fresh toppings too which makes a fish taco so yummy and balanced! We all ordered something different. My daughter ordered the Baja style and the ginger fish taco! She said she could eat probably 4 more that they were that good! My youngest, who is not a fish person ordered a plain carnitas and she was impressed! Last, but definitely not least... I have to mention the staff! Hector and staff were so nice and friendly, which I always appreciate! Will definitely be seeing them again to eat more fish tacos! I'm so impressed with their fish tacos (not battered and fried btw) that I must try their others! It's funny cause my mom can't even get me to eat fish like that... haha!!!!“
“We were in town looking for something for breakfast! Amazed at the assortment of savory and sweet treats. I landed in a chocolate cream filled eclair and hubby a cranberry scone. Both did not disappoint. Flavorful, tasty, large portions, reasonably priced, great customer service.“
“Ciccia Osteria is a gem of authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Barrio Logan. The chefs, Mario and Francesca, use recipes from Northern Italy and pair them with exquisite wines. They even bake their own panettone, a traditional Christmas cake. The restaurant has a cozy and charming atmosphere, with food made with love. However, parking can be tricky, so I recommend taking an Uber. They accept walk-ins, but make sure to dress warmly in winter, as they only have patio dining. The menu has a variety of dishes to suit every taste, but my personal favorite is the mushroom flan. It is creamy, savory, and simply delicious. I also enjoyed the milanese veal, which was tender and crispy. The smoky old-fashioned cocktail and the roccotta olive oil spread for the fresh bread were also amazing. And of course, I could not resist their lasagne, which was rich and satisfying.Ciccia Osteria is my new go-to place for Italian food in San Diego. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their dishes. If you are looking for a genuine and delightful Italian experience, you should definitely check it out.Ciccia Osteria has earned a Bib Gourmand designation from the Michelin Guide. This means that it offers good quality and good value cooking, which is rare to find these days.Parking: Take an UberWheelchair accessibility: Ease first floor.“
“These have got to be the best cookies I have ever had! I was visiting SD from out of town and found this place. I ended up making two trips because they were that good. Glad I was able to enjoy some great cookies and support a black owned business! And the portion size matches the price.“
“Love this place and the flavor, best Ethiopian Food in San Diego County. Order black injera for gluten free people so you can get 100% teff injera. I have been going here for years and every time I bring friends everyone is so pleased. Grateful for this gem! Their store is amazing as well! You can buy injera and other herbs/spices as well! Cant wait to go here again!“
“This is the oldest vegetarian spot in San Diego, adding a cool historical vibe to your dining experience. The star of the show, besides the delicious food, is Olivia – a charming and ever-helpful person. Her positivity is contagious, making every visit feel like a delightful reunion. Knowing there's such a warm and welcoming person like Olivia working there is the cherry on top, making you want to keep coming back for more wholesome goodness.“
“Indulge in the best and most delicious Creole cuisine in town, offering a wide variety of choices at seasonal prices compared to other Creole restaurants in San Diego. Located in a safe area with plenty of parking space, the service has been consistently attentive during all three of our visits, even during peak times. It's the perfect spot to enjoy an exceptional meal with friends after a long workweek.Don't miss their 'caviar'—it's a satisfying meal on its own. Their creamy and flavorful crayfish étouffée never disappoints, and the blackened catfish is fresh and perfectly balanced in flavor, making it a highly recommended option for a healthier yet comforting meal. The pasta jambalaya offers a unique twist on the classic dish. Overall, it's a truly great place to savor the mouthwatering flavors of Creole cuisine.“
“I had not been for over two years. And boy has this place grown for the good of the community. Although the shop looks very different and larger, it still has a familiar feel. The quality of the service and desserts is spot on. The only recommendation to improve the experience is the quality of the coffee . Either sell good coffee or don't include it in your shop.“
“What a great French bakery in Little Italy! They have so many pastries and lunch options available here, as well as coffees and teas. I loved their Croifeuille (the flattened croissant with pastry cream between)! Inside is beautifully decorated. They only have a couple seats and it gets pretty busy so I recommend coming early if you can!“
“Traveling from out of state and found this lovely small owned restaurant. Wonderful customer service, good is all cooked fresh and it’s such a welcoming environment! Definitely recommendParking: Lots of parking spots!Kid-friendliness: Has a highchair, very interactive with them“
“This place is a true blast from the past, like stepping into a time machine. The service is outstanding, and the food is absolutely amazing! You can't go wrong with their cabbage roll and Reuben sandwich—they're a must-try! And be sure not to miss out on visiting the bakery too.“
“Second visit - glad we went back! Just as great as the first visit. Had a wonderful time last night during restaurant week. Excellent option!s! We chose the restaurant week menu - one veal, and upgraded one meal to try the seafood special - sea bass. Delicious. Rice ball appetizers and meatballs. The almond tort for dessert was amazing. Service was excellent even though restaurant was full. Food timing perfect and servers were friendly and fun.“
“This place is delicious! There was no wait time, which was surprising because it was Sunday noon. The place was very nice, the atmosphere and the vibes were great! The plates are individually designed, but you can definitely share them with your +1. I ordered the short ribs omelet, turkey Benedict, and Dutch pancake. And to drink a pitcher of Sandia Margarita. Everything was exquisite! 10 out of 10!!Oh! And the waiters... LOVED them!!!“
“Cute space, great coffee. All sizes get 2 shots of espresso. Decided on their Honey Lavender latte - delicious. Hubby wanted his usual Caramel Macchiato, so Caramel Latte is it. Kids got hot chocolate, my son described it tasted like marshmallow. Overall good!“
“I recently tried The Trails Eatery for breakfast in San Diego, CA, and it was fantastic! The food was delicious, especially the pancakes and omelets. The portions were generous and the cozy atmosphere made it a perfect spot to start the day.“
“We love eating here. Carla the cashier is super friendly, very attentive and gave us information on how to earn points towards our food since we eat here all the time. She was very helpful and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the tofu dishes!“
“Truly an experience with self. This magiackal majestic space allows me to reflect in my existence. Connect to the Rolodex of experiences and emotions. To put away and release what no longer makes sense and bring forth what is ready to be birth into this experience. A space of immense community and epic humans making a difference in the world coming from their creative heart spacesVegetarian options: Delicious afDietary restrictions: State them they got you covered!Parking: Plenty although as we know in ca, the journey of driving in circles, if attending an event come earlierKid-friendliness: Playful playgroundWheelchair accessibility: Safe and welcoming“
“I've been with The Lean Machine for four years and I've never been disappointed. My order has always been on time, there are never any meals missing, and it's very tasty. The menu is diverse and the seasoning is just right. Five stars!!“
“Finally... a place to "treat yourself" without the regrets. Picked up a Tiramisu cake for Easter and it was a hit. Who doesn't over do it on holiday meals and forces the desert because you've already over indulged? But this was SO DELICIOUS and did not leave you with a sugar hangover. You also will feel very welcome and appreciated when you are there. Take my money!“
“The wedding cake I ordered from cupCAKES a la Yola was absolutely beautiful! My husband and I loved it and our guests did too. It was so nicely done, cut very neatly, and tasted great! Delivery was right on time, and we were so happy with it. We got the 8" cake since we had a very small wedding, and it was the perfect size. All of their cupcake flavors are delicious too. Highly recommend cupCAKES a la Yola!“
“Amazing food! Great friendly service. Cozy little place. First time visiting; we're only in town a few days but will try to come back here one more time before we go. Taquitos are delicious! The sauces were excellent! I also tried the quesatacos. I dont like avocados, so the photos don't have their special guacamole. All their items are gluten free. Many vegetarian options as well. Highly recommend this place!!Dietary restrictions: Virtually everything is gluten free.“
“I am from out of town came for a dental appointment I had some time to wait (2hrs) I found this bistro in the parking lot with the business complex. It’s a nice cozy friendly family oriented place. Dareen is amazing such a sweet lady really interacts with guest and made me feel welcome and at home. Gave me the internet password and invite me to stay as long as I would like. Her parents also a great couple if your looking for a healthy alternative for eating out I highly recommend this island bistro.“
“I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect loaf of sourdough bread in San Diego. While I’m not sure I have found exactly what I want, out of all the “name” bakeries I have tried Secret Sister makes the best loaf of bread out of the lot. I can’t speak for any of their food and/or drinks, but it’s clear to me they care about quality, and that makes a difference in my book. It’s a little challenging to find parking sometimes, but it’s totally worth it. If you go, just make sure you don’t take the last Country Loaf because I’m coming to take that one! ?“
“We love this place and exclusively buy our beans form Dark Horse and have since it opened. Happily, I enjoy their other beverages (love their chai) as well as the donuts, always pop in when I have something to do at the post office next door. Everyone is nice and chill here, and though it's obviously a really tiny place it's a great vibe. Get the best friend blend—perfect for espresso machine or drip coffee.“
“I can't say enough NICE THINGS about these amazing people! I was having a really bad day, but they brightened it up with their friendly attitude & great, helpful service. Super clean dining room & bathroom! Looks & feels like a local coffee shop should! 10/10!!!“
“The Mission was one of the first establishments to help revitalize North Park. when they opened. There was not much by way of restaurants in the late 90s. The neighborhood was rougher.I grew up on 28th Street. We ate here all the time when they were new. It’s amazing, so we went here this weekend for breakfast. It’s still amazing. There will be a bit of a wait but they turn tables quickly and the food comes out fast. The staff is ready to rock. The prices are fair, and the food is consistently delicious and well portioned. There is a reason this place has been here longer than most of North Park.Long live The Mission“
“Cute little bakery / coffee shop. I ordered the coffee cake muffin which was HUGE! I am not complaining at all, I quite enjoyed that the muffin was a generous portion. I was munching on it thru out the day and still had some left over for breakfast the following day. Looking forward to picking up a sweet treat here on my way to work again! The only inconvenient part is the parking, I think there a very limited spots surrounding the bakery and then otherwise you have to look for street parking.“
“My grandson has a peanut allergy and thanks to Mr. Wyatt (the manager) he made sure they took full precaution with food preparations. To add to my experience here, Melissa (our server) was outstanding. She made sure we were at ease knowing we can dine this delicious food without any worries, she took excellent care of us.The food here is amazing. I highly recommend BJ's to anyone visiting SD. We flew in from NYC and I have to say they're a 5 star restaurant with food quality and their environment.Thank you to all the staff for your excellent service.“
“Nothing Bundt Cakes never disappoints. We probably buy at least four large cakes and a few couple of dozen cupcakes (bundtinis ) and individual bundltlet cakes a year. If you enjoy trying (or can't decide on just one flavor) I recommend the bundtinis they are a great way to enjoy the flavor variety. The consistency is top notch. The bakery storefront is small but they don't need bigger. The cakes are moist, sweet and they cover them in frosting (or not if you prefer but who wants cake without frosting). They will add little decorations on the cake for an additional charge. I love that they have featured flavors as well. The featured flavor is REESE'S chocolate peanut butter. I can't wait to try it. I only have until 2/25 to do so. It sounds amazing!!!“
“Hidden gem in Kensington! One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been in San Diego. Loved the pizza toscana, feel like every bite I had was better than the last. The best alla vodka with bacon I’ve had in over ten years, couldn’t stop eating it. We sat on the dog friendly patio which has heaters. The service was excellent and food comes out quick. Must go!“
“I absolutely love this restaurant. I'm fact I would say it's my favorite place to eat in this entire town bar none. The entire staff is courteous and well managed. As you enter it's clear their goal is to get you seated as quickly as possible even if there is a waiting list. The bar will be more than happy serve you as well and the staff there is equally courteous and attentive. The food is always fresh and in my opinion very reasonably priced. I've eaten here about a dozen times and have always left happy. Highly recommended ++“
“I LOVE Menchie's and my youngest son LOVES them too! They always have a great selection of frozen flavors. My newest favorite is the banana pudding one (OMG)! The teens who are always on shift when I go (usually teens) are polite and helpful! They always let me know about my credits (again we come here a lot),You can take your ice cream outside too near the fireplace! It's such a treat for us! Not too expensive either!“
“Cozy poke shop with delicious flavors! Menu is easy, typical build your own poke bowl. Regular with 3 proteins and large with 5 proteins. Had the salmon (x2), spicy tuna, and eel (x2), with a mix of aloha and spicy mayo. One of the best tasting poke I’ve had in San Diego so far!A neat part of the restaurant is they have chess boards, cards, and Jenga laying around, so you can play while eating! No complaints here and highly recommend you check it out.“
“This was our first time trying this cafe and it was absolutely worth it! We came in and we took our time trying to figure out what to get ( I was worried we were taking too long) and Nicky and Armando were completely welcoming and super cool! Plus the coffee shop was so clean and we loved the whole place, just the ambiance was so amazing! I wish we would have taken pictures of our food because it looked so good, but as soon as I bit into it I was like okay this cafe is 100/10. The staff was amazing, the place was cool and CLEAN, last but not least the food looked great, came out before they said, and it was soooo good! We will definitely be coming back here regularly and my husband and I will definitely be telling people about this!“
“Smell good walking in the shop. Open at 7 am. Drive thru and call to order options. There are 5 tables inside. Quaint and homey deco. WiFi free. Some light breakfast sandwiches dish besides Pastries biscottis scones muffin cinnamon rolls. Relax and enjoy the morning kaffe“
“So happy Nekter is here in my neighborhood! My favorite smoothie shop who uses completely fresh ingredients and non artificial sugars. I've ordered smoothies and also bowls from here and they are generous with the fruit content. Everything tastes amazing and healthy. Their online ordering system is also very easy if you want to do carry out/pickup without dealing with the register.“
“Coming here has become a bit of a family tradition since first coming here in 2023 right before the Teddy Swims concert. The Urbn Salad is a really nice treat. The small size should feed two. I've tried the buffalo-flavored wings, but my favorite are the spicy wings! My wife and I absolutely LOVE the made-to-order selection of pizzas. Our favorite so far is the BBQ pizza. Delish! The service is always welcoming, and the atmosphere is wide open and fun. You should try it!“
“Just want to say, I rode by on my bicycle ride for the day, and seen this place...I decided to place an order for a Half Cheese Half Pepperoni pizza and an order of spaghetti which came with a salad....and, I absolutely LOVED it all! The pizza had that herb-taste I'm always looking for in pizza, the crust wasn't too thin but not too thick, the sauce was amazing...my family loved it! So glad I found this place! Nearby my home too! Yum!“
“Love this place. But keep in mind it is mainly just for coffee and to get a nice little pastry. I did not see a lot of outlets and I didn't ask for any wifi codes either. They have a good selection of coffee available and a good knowledge of how the coffee should be prepared properly. I got their crucible the first time and I was WIRED. The second time I went I got their drip coffee and it was just enough for me. Every Saturday they also have a special cupcake that they sell. I went and got the PB and J cupcake and shared it with friends. It was delicious and my friend definitely asked if I could get more. Keep in mind this is only a Saturday thing. They sell food all days, but the special cupcakes are Saturdays only.“
“I love that this spot came to La Mesa. The store is clean and the food is fresh. I've ordered smoothies, açaí bowls, and juice. But my favorite thing is the chia pudding. It's a generous serving and the fruit is really fresh for only $6. Great for breakfast or a couple of snacks. The girls are always friendly and the service is quick. Definitely going to be a regular here.“
“If you're looking for a spot with great pizza with great combinations or even a custom order, Woodstock's is the place to go! I have come here on numerous occasions and have had the best tasting pizza, trust me, it is worth the wait!“
“The food and the variety of rolls are very good. I tried the toro and it was so fresh and melts in the mouth. The restaurant is located in a busy plaza, so recommended for dinner more than lunch to find a spot for your car. Their service is fast and they have that nice ship which gives an amazing presentation to “
“Excellent. Crispy and moist inside. Rice batter wow. Crunch in every bite. And have to also mention the garlic honey sauce. Ask for an extra it’s tasty and goes perfectly with their chicken. Coming back. Friend shared some with me last week and I had to come and get my box and will be back. Best in the South “
“UPDATE 2024:And finally, after four years beneath the surface, I crawl to the surface, leaving behind the labyrinth that predates America's cowboys, Spain's conquistadors, the Kumeyaay's ancestors who are remembered, the La Jolla's who are forgotten, and even the eldritch shades who were beneath America before humans walked across the Pacific Ocean to claim the skies of this continent for our children to live and die beneath. The deepest parts of the sub-surface labyrinth, the caverns and passageways carved by humanity's predecessors, who had the capability of sentience, but possibly no reason to bother with it, was what kept me, since they were carved by alien intelligences that do not bother with sentience, according to inhuman geographies that utterly flummox Google Maps and human math. But after only four years beyond geography, I did escape, and eventually, and above the Spanish mission-era tunnels are some dug by the Mormons in their highly navigable fashion; and it only took a couple weeks to realize that Subterranean Coffee Boutique has moved from Hillcrest to a new location at 30th and University, I climbed a staircase and emerged, blinking and staring at the sun whose light I had almost forgotten, into a comfortable coffee shop with delicious chocolate chip cookies. The only note I'd give is that if you have a key for the bathroom and leave the stairway to an infinite underground realm of madness behind an unlocked door, you should at least post signage.ORIGINAL Review 2020:Subterranean is actually underground. Descending into the depths of an impenetrable catacomb deep beneath San Diego, the path passes through the remnants of WWII shipworks, Mexican-American War fortifications, and the Old Spanish Mission. Then come the villages of the Kumeyaay, and then the La Jolla, and then peoples whose names and Gods are lost to time, though archeologists call them Clovis after a small town in New Mexico where white men first disturbed their graves. Lower still come structures so monumental and architecture so alien the builders can't be known to our history, and perhaps not even our biology. Under these derelict temples is one final chamber, cut into the earth by long forgotten Eldritch powers, there is evidence of human use in a small corner that torchlight shadows and towering obelisks make smaller, human activity: a coffeeshop, truly and ultimately subterranean, with really good vegan muffins.“
“Been going here since I was a kid. Was super bummed out when they closed the original location. So happy when they opened this one! They kept the same recipes and the family still owns it. They're awesome too! Favorite pizza in spring valley by far and I'd put their bread sticks up against any. They're the best.“
