“I've been wanting to try different omakase places in the LA area for a while now, and stumbled upon Omakase by Ozen online - and I'm glad I came! Reservations were made quickly and easily via Yelp, and I love that I was able to change my reservation time without much of a hassle. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate after I took the MCAT, so we were extremely hungry when we got here. I think this place might have had valet out front, but we opted to just find street parking in the neighborhood for a ~5 minute walk (which worked out afterwards since it let us walk off our food!). The actual restaurant is a very small and quaint place; we sat at a table instead of the bar but I thought the decorations were very cute. Service was very fast and attentive. They handed us a menu as soon as we came in, and we ordered the $130 omakase - which was a pretty good deal for the quality of the food and the whole experience. I do have to say that I was not full after the meal (so my boyfriend and I ended up getting more food afterwards at a different place), but I did enjoy my time here. Definitely worth a try if you're celebrating because of the food and the service, but I personally don't think I'd come back for the omakase.“
“First time visiting Ocean Sushi, I had the “Sensual Pressure Roll” and “Salmon Handroll” , The salmon, and spicy bay scallop which melted in your mouth. The rice was just perfect on all of the pieces, not overly moist, yet firm and unadulterated. The spicy tuna were mild spicy and fragrant, the fresh salmon tasted better than anything I've had.The blue crab baked hand roll had all the flavors and real non-imitation crab was something very unique and worth a try.And new menu called, “Caribbean Roll” were above average, fresh albacore sashimi with spicy tuna and my favorite crispy onion; with house sauce and garnish that added more texture and flavor.Lastly the toro sushi seems basic, but they prove how good they are, melt and fresh. they made a something basic into something extravagant. All the servers are welcoming and friendly. This restaurant will become most popular place in weho! I definitely coming back soon.“
“Quality comes with a price if you want to treat those taste buds to great tasting very fresh sushi.... then check out Santo... When food is great and quality is outstanding, then it's worth every penny... agree!?... This place will have you making your next reservation right after you leave, lol.... (maybe not, but it's the type of place that you will be back for more... Staff is great, friendly and they make you feel at home... Original Santo is located in Mexico City, and if you know the CDMX vibe, then you know this place has that... Great vibes all around, background music playing upbeat music. Place is small, so outside sitting is available to enjoy a nice day or to people watch down Sunset Street... or sit next to a stranger and maybe start a conversation?!... Parking can be a hassle, street parking only, and silverlake can get crowded, so be patient Awsome, top of the line sushi with a unique flavors Definitely recommend this spot!! When you go... Enjoy!!...“
“We love this place. We have been to many many sushi places in LA, and this is on the top of our list. Most of the items we ordered were delicious. Oh did I mention their sushi rice was served warm? This is a huge plus because the warm rice gives you the contrast of temperature and the layer of taste makes the sushi taste much better.Only one thing I don’t recommend: the real crab hand roll had too much mayo sauce and you can barely taste the crab.Must get:Black cod (this is a rare find)HalibutBlack snapperEel mascal pone (melt in your mouth)Toro handrollKanpachiSalmonOctopusWe spent $200 for two. It is not cheap. But honestly you get what you pay for. You can’t compare the quality for when you spend $50/person on sushi.Anyways. We will for sure come back. :)“
“Fun time at kinkan! We had the where are we going tasting menu which was cool to experience and learn anout each dish and how the chef came up with it. The head chef was not in town that day so the sous was serving us. The best dishes were the ama ebi, tuna tartare, and ceviche! All of the staff was very kind tooUnfortunately one of the items was substituted with bolognese which was disappointing (supposed to be uni pasta). And the fish and chips (amaida, matsutake) and crab fried rice was not impressive for this price point. I think it was great experience but food didn’t feel worth it in the end so I would not go back a second time.Parking: Small parking lot, handful of spaces“
“My friends took me to Leona's sushi house earlier this week. It was last minute, for my birthday and we were able to get a table without a reservation! The decor and the mood was great. Lighting was sexy. I don't even mind that I had to use my cellphone light to see the menu. ?. Drinks were great! Everything was delicious. Especially Loved the Black Cod and the spicy edamame. Our server, I think her name was Tanya or Tania was exceptional, very attentive and gave great recommendations. Would definitely visit again to try more items on the menu.“
“Ramen so good I forgot to take pictures! We found this little gem while staying at an AirBNB in Studio City. The menu was varied and we found something for everyone in our party, including the picky little guy. This was honestly some of the best ramen we've had anywhere (we were on vacation) and I have recommended it to others traveling to area. The service was super friendly as well.“
“This is a great sushi spot ! I always go here for lunch at work. The best part is that most rolls are bogo 50% off. They are super helpful with great service. The ambiance is meh and it's kind of small but I'm really there for the food cause it's bomb !“
“I've been hearing about Chiba from my brother for years, and now I understand why it's his go-to spot for sushi. Freshness is paramount when it comes to sushi, and Chiba delivers on every level. The sushi rolls were bursting with flavor, and each piece of nigiri was perfect. It's clear that the chefs at Chiba take immense pride in their craft, and it truly shines through in every dish. Their attention to detail and the commitment to providing a wonderful sushi dining experience. In my humble opinion, Chiba easily ranks among the top 5 sushi spots in the entire Los Angeles area. If you're looking for fresh, delicious sushi served with a side of exceptional service, look no further than Chiba. Trust me wheh I say you won't be disappointed.“
“This place from the moment you walk in the front door is beyond amazing! They’ve done an amazing job of setting one heck of secluded Tulum vibe but while being in the thick of it all. No detail was left out from the lush landscaping and impeccable design throughout to the delicious food and cocktail menu topped off with incredible service. We had the Crispy Rice with yellowtail and shishito peppers for starters both were some of the best we’ve had. We also had the sun fire roll and short ribs and all I can say is yum! You won’t be disappointed with any of the food here. The margaritas we had were “chefs kiss”! Highly recommend!!“
“Went here after we were referred by a friend and it was well worth it! Food was so good. Our waitress Sarah was very friendly and even recommended great food choices. The pork belly was amazing, crispy Brussels are amazing and the crispy rice spicy salmon ?“
“I've been to many sushi restaurants/bars in the valley. Asanebo from my experience is hands down the best sushi you can get. The service is immaculate, the best I've ever had at a sushi spot. I wouldn't be able to tell you something bad I've had there. Been going for a while now and everything is great.“
“Chef is super funny and chatty. He loves explaining details about the food. Strongly recommend arriving on time, be early rather than be late. Sushi pieces were excellent. Appetizer to start was a very interesting mix of items.Dining experience felt very intimate. Only our group and another group were there. Worth the cost. Do not let the external location fool you, it is a lovely experience, and the food is excellent.“
“I walk by this place daily and it's always so busy. I decided to try it for myself and it was delicious. Everything seemed fresh and full of flavor. The waiters were all super sweet and attentive to our needs. We went for lunch so it wasn't as busy as it normally is, which was nice because the space is a little tight given its all bar seating. They play good music and it's a fun atmosphere. There's plenty of street parking and valet (10-15$). I will say this spot is on the pricer side, Im not convinced the meal was worth the price give theres an omekase down the street.“
“Super sweet owners and incredibly fresh sashimi. I got the 19 piece platter and was very happy with my meal. This place is a gem. When I went in, I noticed that the owners greeted everyone extremely warmly and had a bunch of regulars coming back. The auntie working the front of the house made me feel like I’m family eating at her house ^____^Definitely give this place a try!!!“
“I love this place. A bit pricy but everything is fresh and prepared with much tlc. The staff is always so sweet and there's a particular lovely trans server who always greets me as if I'm family. She has the most warm personality and to be honest, she is one of the reasons I keep coming back! She recommended the citron roll to me and I've been hooked ever since. I'll typically order that, and a couple other simple rolls that are discounted during happy hour. My fav thing to do is sit on the patio eating sushi and people watching. One time a guy decked out in Beyoncé fan gear came up to me and sang happy birthday to his Beyoncé pillow (it was her birthday that day). Nothing but good vibes here.“
“Morihiro was a solid omakase experience, but it's not as intimate as the other elevated omakase experiences in this price range...it was pretty crowded. There were only table seats the day we went, but we still enjoyed our dinner here. I was little a taken aback by the way the unique way the rice is prepared, but it was still pretty good. All the dishes were explained and presented well but overall Morihiro just lacked that wow factor. I think I also just prefer a more intimate omakase experience.“
“Yes it's right next to a gas station but that shouldn't put you off, the place is pretty good. There are only 4 parking sports directly in front so at a busy time I can see this being an issue. The service was great. The waiter was very friendly and helpful in case we had any questions. The food ranges from decent to good. The Black Garlic Miso Ramen wasn't hot enough for me and way too salty. The tofu that I ordered as my protein was cold. The Lady Gaga sushi was a mixed bag. The toppings were a great combination of flavor but the tuna itself wasn't very good. I wouldn't order it again personally. That being said, we did really enjoy the Shrimp Tempura Cut Roll. It's not the best I've had but still very good. The Garlic Edamame as a starter was pretty amazing I have to say. Definitely get that! The Bluefin Tuna sushi we tried was also very good actually.I liked the ambiance inside: nice and clean with appealing decor. It's not really a place for a romantic dinner but it's not aiming for that anyway. Would certainly recommend if you're in the area.“
“Dope lil spot tucked away in Sherman Oaks. Quality sushi, great service. Fun tunes too. Going to be a go to spot. Tonight had the Oh My Goodness Roll and the I Love Salmon Roll. Who's set the playlist here? They deserve some recognition.“
“My teenagers and I were impressed with the simplicity of flavors of all our dishes. We started off with an assorted sashimi plate that had 3 pieces each of tuna, salmon, kampachi, and Japanese scallops and a plate of scallop carpaccio. It was soo yummy that we ordered another plate of scallop carpaccio and then we felt like we just had to try the kampachi carpaccio. Sooo good and the scallops just melt in your mouth! For our main dishes, we decided to share the Spicy Tonkotsu with extra bamboo shoots and the Truffle Butter Tonkotsu. The broths were very flavorful, the noodles fresh, and the chasu was delicious. For dessert, the friendly staff recommended the house-made Shio Koji ice cream with black sea salt to help cleanse our palates. It was very light and definitely refreshing. And I also tried the Genmaicha tea which was very light, aromatic, and soothing. All in all this place is a must go-to when you're in Ktown. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and very helpful for suggesting menu items. This is definitely our family's favorite find of the year!“
“We came here on a whim, after finding The Daily Outpost mysteriously closed on a Friday evening. Umigame is so good! Everything, from the poke bowl, salmon teriyaki, brussels sprouts, and edamame, were perfect! High quality food beautifully prepared. Very good service also. We will definitely be back.“
“I'm back at this restaurant and it hasn't disappoint me yet! I brought my son today and he is in heaven! I don't know why it says it's close when it's open? But it's under new management. The all you can eat menus are great and the food is amazing. For the money you paying it's worth the food your eating. Very tasty and decent size portions not to much rice! The service is definitely on point! I know the previous times I've been here service was okay and they would take a long time to feed you but this time around I give them 5 stars! Definitely upgraded in the service department...I definitely recommend this place come try it out! Definitely the best all you can eat place I've eaten! They give you good portions“
“The location is small so there wasn't alot of space for parking. I went ahead and used the valet service they had. The inside of the restaurant was small and felt a bit cramped. (If you are claustrophobic, be careful) of course there were spaces to move around but it will be difficult for others. The food was decent but oof pricey. My favorite was the bluefin tuna Trio. For the price of the dish, I understand since it tasted pretty fresh and the presentation was visible. I tried sea urchin for the first time here and I guess I can't say too much about it other than it being very very strong in ocean flavor. The service was great! I was well taken care of by our amazing waiter.“
“Very delicious sushi spot that just blends in with majority of the closed shops near it, especially since the entrance was roped off as if it was actually closed, from the outside. If you’re looking for a kikkoman soy sauce spot, this isn’t for you.Ordered two carpaccios, one with fresh wasabi and ponzu, can’t remember the fish, and another carpaccio, think either halibut or albacore, that had yuzu juice and mushroom and those two dishes were phenomenal. Every bite was simply amazing and irresistible. Great fish quality, not a single piece was questionable in appearance, texture, taste; the quality was delicious. The assorted tempura was crunchy, the batter didn’t disintegrate when you dipped it and didn’t break up when you were biting it. A delicious batter that kept its integrity and highlighted the beauty of each ingredient being used. Loved having a tempura mushroom and the white fish was a unique and different touch. The nigiri- where the begin. All of it was delicious. For a party of two, we each walked away with eating $190 each which is a lot for how much we ordered truthfully but because the quality of the food was better that majority of the places we had, it was worth it and can’t wait to go back. No alcohol either. It was a treat to eat here and treat ourselves. The most delectable and fragile scallops that just melt in your mouth, the albacore was a dance in your mouth as well as anything else that had a drop of yuzu on it. Ended my experience with uni and it was pure velvet. The most underwhelming item I ate was a spicy tuna since I was genuinely curious but I wouldn’t order that again and just stick with nigiri. Each nigiri order is 1 piece and sashimi is 2 pieces. Thank you Jinpachi for a cozy atmosphere and a delicious treat- can’t wait for more!“
“Amazing!I had the avocado cucumber roll. My husband had the dragon roll (Decorated like an actual dragon! Omg! Art! He wouldn't let me take a pic!) and futomaki roll. The service was polite and informed and quick. No wait for a table on a Saturday night!Delicious. Must try!Wonderful beer and alcohol selection. We had three beers.Loved the music and ambiance. It was quiet and comfortable/cozy after a long day.Thank you for the lovely meal .“
“Cozy, chill hand roll bar. Inside is all bar seating, which is nice as you get an up close view of the rolls being made. There is outdoor patio seating as well but it was a bit chilly when I went. Staff is really attentive. There are a lot of roll combo options on the menu but I went a la carte. I loved everything I ate - spicy tuna and the avocado crispy rice as well as the crab and the salmon roll. The person I was with ordered a bowl which was a good size. Nice spot for solo lunch or a group of two. Very relaxed vibes.“
“Finally got a chance to try this out since had my eye on it since it opened in the neighborhood. The restaurant is on the smaller side and has about 15 tables total so definitely have a bit of patience if going right at dinner time. They only take reservations for parties over 5. If you go at non-peak times, should be able to get seated right away. The host and servers were friendly and constantly came by to clear plates as they were finished and refill drinks. Food wise, you can order a la carte or from 2 levels of AYCE. We went for the premium AYCE and enjoyed it after leaving stuffed and wagyu oozing from our pores. The meat quality was excellent and while each plate was only 4-7 slices, you can just keep ordering if you can handle all the rich and fatty meats. The carpaccios and other appetizers were good and you can order 1/2 size of many dishes so you don't overstuff yourself. So while the price ($75), for premium is definitely up there, it is fair for the quality of the meats and other options. You have a 90 min. limit so be mindful of that as the food does not come out as quickly when the restaurant is full. Overall, something to splurge on once in a while and if you're looking for premium meats. Friendly tip- wear clothes you don't mind smelling like bbq/smoke as their exhaust system could use some improvement as you can visibly see the smoke later in the night when busy as the exhaust at each table is lacking in effectiveness.“
“Absolutely worth the money.I got dragon roll and baked salmon. Both were good as expected but baked salmon roll was especially delicious. The service was done on time and the lady manager was more than friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is great too - nice music, cozy sits and ambient light wanna make you come back. I paid $30 total. Good and affordable sushi spot for a date or to meet with friends. Highly recommended for people who like Japanese cuisine ?“
“Been coming here since I moved to LA in 2012 and to this day remains the best sushi I've ever had in my life. The service is impeccable and speedy. The ambiance is quaint and makes it feel like high end dining but with reasonable prices. Always recommend to people looking for a good sushi spot!“
“Although the service can sometimes be.. questionable (especially when they are busy or towards closing hours), the food is absolutely 20/10. This is the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to, and I’ve been to over 100 around the world. The people making the food are also cool and always down to chat.Get baked crab and salmon roll and thank me later.“
“The service is impeccable. The food is delicious! Such a big menu for such a little place. Great traditional Japanese comfort foods! Plus, it has an amazing choice of sashimi, rice bowls, udon bowls, and poke bowls. If you're a lover of all things Japanese, this is a must try! I highly recommend Daichan!“
“This is my favorite sushi place. Small unassuming location in a strip mall. There’s no Cheetos and bacon roll or whatever, if that’s your kind of thing. This is a sushi master serving simple, fresh, perfectly prepared, traditional sushi. The toro, the uni, the oysters, the mackerel, it’s perfect. The server let us know which plates they didn’t want us to use soy sauce on. I thought it was beautiful and I didn’t use that stuff on a single dish anyway.“
“Stepping into Joon Shabu Shabu was like opening the door to a dining experience that was not only new but truly magical, marking my delightful introduction to the art of hibachi-style soup creation. This wasn't merely a meal; it was an opportunity to dive into the exhilarating world of cooking right at your table, blending the joy of do-it-yourself cuisine with the comfort and elegance of dining out. The welcoming vibe, accentuated by tantalizing aromas, set a perfect stage for the culinary symphony that awaited. The team at Joon Shabu Shabu was exceptional, radiating a blend of genuine warmth and professionalism that made me feel immediately at home and cherished. Their guidance through the menu and the dining process was like having a personal culinary coach by our side, ensuring that my companion and I felt confident and excited about the adventure we were about to undertake. This thoughtful, non-intrusive support allowed us to savor the array of sauces and ingredients at our own rhythm, adding layers of joy and discovery to our meal.As we placed our orders, the excellence of service continued to shine. The dishes served were a feast not just for the taste buds but for the soul, with every bite bursting with freshness and flavor. The ingredients were abundant, and the equipment was so clean and simple to use, making the entire cooking process a breeze and incredibly fun.Visiting Joon Shabu Shabu was a transformative journey for me, turning what I presumed might be a complex dining style into a celebration of simplicity and conviviality. If you're ever in Glendale, I wholeheartedly encourage you to treat yourself to this gem of a restaurant. It's a place where your culinary dreams are met with a vibrant atmosphere and a chance to play chef, promising not just a meal but an uplifting experience that will brighten your day and warm your heart. Joon Shabu Shabu isn't just about satisfying your hunger; it's about creating memories that linger long after the meal is over.“
“Definitely have to order several items and share them with the table, the food is absolutely delicious and it's incredibly difficult to describe how amazing it was but it was one of my top experiences, I don't know how I will ever top this restaurant.“
“I love the new outside setup the vibes are amazing ! Best sushi i had in a while, great place :)Parking: A good number of spotsKid-friendliness: They are great with kids and patienceWheelchair accessibility: Good for outside not too much room inside“
“Absolutely amazing for a date night. Great food and atmosphere. Sake selection is really diverse and interesting and the food is always so fresh and delicious. The sushi is top tier quality and the fried chicken is not to be missed. Love this place!“
“Chicken katsu was great, big portion, tender chicken, came with a pretty and delicious salad and the curry was also very good. It was totally worth the price. Takoyaki was one of the best I've eaten. The portion is also generous and there were definitely big chunks of Tako inside the balls. Presentation was very pretty too. However my lemon roll was not as good as the other dishes. The spicy tuna was overly spicy and it took away the flavor of the entire dish. The size surprised me positively though, it was much bigger than rolls in other places. The fish was fresh and the proportion with rice was good too. I would definitely come back.“
“Love this place! I came here for Valentine's Day and since then I've maybe gone 4 times and it's barely April 1st. Their sushi options are bomb. Our waiters are always very nice and knowledgeable. The place is pretty small and there's sometimes a wait but the longest I've waited to be seated was about 10 minutes which was on valentines but other than that you should be good.“
“I don't usually do the food truck thing but I saw that they would be pretty close to work so 3 of us went to check it out. We all ordered different things and we were all happy with our food. The owner was nice too. I definitely recommend.“
“I have been regularly coming here for a couple last years and I love this place.I usually go for fillet mignon because it turns out to be so juicy and tender. My boyfriend gets fillet with sea food options. Scallop and lobster tail.I absolutely love their ginger dressing! Each time I promise myself that I’ll skip on a fried rice, by always end up eating it, because it is good! They sell beers in pitchers that completes the meal!Always a great dinner!Highly recommended!“
“Super delicious Omakase experience! I'd definitely like to go back on a week night for a few rolls. We did a double date here the other night and there was a mixup with our order and we waited a long time but they made it right. I definitely recommend the Omakase experience! My favorite was the nigiri and sashimi. Super fresh and all the details on top of the fish were delicious. Creamy caviar at one point ! This place is in a busy area, so parking is hard, get there early! I appreciate the upscale vibe in the midst of a lot of restaurants, its stands apart!“
“Excellent food, service, and overall quality. Personally I have not had a more authentic and enjoyable experience with Japanese cuisine than I have had at Toku Unagi & Sushi. Both the wait and kitchen staff take pride in their work and truly care about its quality.“
“I was so lucky to try out a few dishes. The server was very polite and understood I was celiac. So he helped me decide what to order. It’s difficult as it is plus asking a chef to accommodate my order. They did a wonderful job. The food was so good!!!Would come back anytime. My husband loved the fried sushi and sister ordered beef teriyaki.“
“This is a great place for sushi lovers. All ingredients are fresh and tasty. This time we were family traveling in town and my daughters simply loved it. A great service from the hostess to all the waiters. The decoration is amazing and the men's washrooms fun. Go and check them. Great spot in Hollywood!“
“Found this little simple place on Yelp. Really enjoyed our eat in dinner. So many choices. I had the chicken teriyaki bento. Hubble had chicken bowl. Came with miso soup, if you eat in. The chicken was really excellently prepared in both dishes. I would have liked more sauce but was too lazy to ask. The tempura was truly delicious. Generous portions of everything. I even saved my entire california roll for lunch the next day. Surprisingly, it was prolly the best I have ever had! The hostess was delightful and made us feel like we were her guests at home. Afterwards, the cutest little lady chef came out and had the biggest smile when we complimented her on her great cooking! We don't get this way often, but will unquestionably return when we do.“
“This is such a wonderful restaurant, the food is absolutely delicious and it has a nice welcoming small businesses vibe. The staff is great and everything is so good, even the sauces alone are amazing.Dietary restrictions: Another customer had dietary restrictions to white rice so the staff helpufully offered brown rice instead.“
“The food, vibe, and service at sushi is top notch! We come here often and always try something new. We are never disappointed! You can even get Kobe sliders, and there are plenty of non fish options. The staff is courteous and the owner Dov is the best. Best restaurant at Sunset Plaza!“
“The customer service makes this place amazing. They treat you great here. Definitely not the best shabu shabu that I've been to.. But it's pretty good. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get seated. And when you're seated they're pretty attentive. They have a great selection of meat. And they also have appetizers of sushi. They have a bar of sauces that you can choose from.“
“Jonathan Gold always told us to look out for the strip mall restaurants. He's right.Given the seasonal-rotational menu, the omakase at $95 seems like a great way to experience Soregashi, but I generally like to order whatever I like, especially as the seasons provide new ingredients I can order.Onto the food.Usuzukuri is their special dish. It's hirame (fluke, not halibut!) that's cut so thin it's nearly transparent. It comes with a ponzu sauce, some daikon-chile paste, green onion, and lemon. The manager will recommend to mix the ponzu with the paste but will ultimately say to just eat however you like. The hirame is pretty mild, slightly sweet, and instead of being overly chewy, is a bit soft, will melt slightly in your mouth, and is a great way to open a meal. They seem to serve this first because it's mild and you want to experience the dish without blowing out your tastebuds.Soregashi does know their audience, though. They also serve a California roll. However, this is with real crab. When I asked to confirm it wasn't krab, the manager looked almost offended. The fact I gave him such momentary distain means I clearly went to the right spot. There's baked crab, cucumbers, and avocado. It's soft, crunchy, and essentially the Platonic ideal of a California roll since they don't cut corners and use quality ingredients. For my last visit:We started with madai nigiri (sea bream). The fish was soft and slightly crunchy with a sea-touched flavor with some sweetness. It's a good fish to start with but would absolutely get lost if it was eaten after a few sushi courses. It's pretty mild. From the special menu, we ordered the live ama ebi (spot prawn, sweet shrimp, sometimes called botan ebi [different!]). The heads come fried; the manager asked to confirm we wanted that. I'm not sure if they serve head-in miso soup, but I like it fried and it looked only lightly battered, possibly with a non-tempura blend. They were sweet, creamy, and with a soft crunch. The heads were crispy and to pay attention to detail, Soregashi cuts out the eyes. For some proteins, the eyes can be bitter, so this was a detail I took a note of but didn't necessarily need. The heads sit in a small pile of salt, so they're extra salty. I didn't need this, but that's a matter of taste. Generally, they seem to get flash frozen ama ebi, but seasonally, they can get live shrimp, such as right now.The mirugai ("jumbo clam" or "giant clam" or geoduck) was also served nigiri style. The meat was crunchy, sweet, and also sweet. To compare to the ama ebi, it was less creamy and with a lot more crunch and sweetness. There was a particularly toothsome mouthfeel that was satisfying. Apparently this comes from Seattle. We also tried nasumiso, which is eggplant smothered in a sweet miso sauce. The eggplant tasted broiled since it had some crispy parts to it at the edges. The meat was generally soft but there were some crunchier parts in the flesh to provide a great texture. The sauce covering it was great and vaguely tasted like a teriyaki mixed with a lot of miso (which makes sense given the shared ingredients). The sesame seeds also added an extra flavor. We ordered the kaarage (Japanese fried chicken). They only use free-range Jidori chicken. The batter is fairly light and the chicken is not in large pieces. It's served with lemon but otherwise is not strongly seasoned. This could have used some more salt and pepper in the batter, at least. However, the kaarage had a very crispy texture and maintained all the juice of the chicken thighs.Coho salmon was on the seasonal menu. The standard menu had king salmon. To compare and contrast, the coho was soft, buttery, and the salmon oil mostly came out at the end. For the king salmon, the flesh was even softer than the coho, but the flavor was more mild. The oily flavor was present throughout as opposed to just coming out at the very end in a flavor bomb.Shima aji (trevally, striped jack) was oily, but also very meaty and firm“
“Go to this place if you actually want GOOD quality sushi. Like authentic sushi and not those 'americanized' one. I've heard stories that some people don't like their baked sushi... well hate to break it to you, but everyone needs to try the real stuff (Personally, I like their baked sushi too)Everyone needs to try the Chirashi !! That is my to-go order every time I go with my bf... You can tell the fish is fresh, it just melts in your mouth. The chef does put a lot of love/passion into his food so I really recommend this hidden gem.“
