“We tried varieties of dosa here, and rava dosa is really good. Podi dosas are not great, and could get better ones. Best part you ask ? Chaats. Masala Puri, Punugulu, Pani puri and irani chai are the best. Tip: ask to make masala puri spicy!“

“Updated review:After a long day at work, we came to Chaat bhavan for dinner. Was able to quickly get a table as it was a weekday, don't expect the same on weekends as there are long waits. We ordered the House Thali and it was definitely tasty and bang for our buck. Two of us ate it along with extra paratha on the side. “Best south Indian food in the bay area. They have the softest idlies and crispiest vadas. Their coconut chutney tastes like the ones made back home. The sambhar was very good as well and the taste was similar to the one we get at Saravana Bhavan from Tamil Nadu.I highly recommend this small, clean and authentic restaurant for south Indian food.“
“Great food. Fresh ingredients. They make their food with great care. You can taste it how well everything is made. I tried their samosa chaat for appetizer. The samosa was freshly made before getting smashed in the chaat. You can feel the warm crispy samosa wrappers in your mouth. They serve it with onions garnished on top along with the mint and tamarind sauce. For main course I tried their Onion aloo paratha with Navratan (mixed vegetable) korma. It Was delicious. The texture of the paratha was perfect. Tasted awesome with the Navratan korma. The korma was cooked perfectly with all the vegetables tasting excellent with perfectly rich gravy.“

“This is one my go to South Indian restaurants in the bay area. Located in Santa Clara, and close by India Cash and Carry store. They have wide variety of South Indian dishes, and all of them tastes good. Their Thali's on Weekends particularly have good menu items. The pricing is economical too and service is quick.“
“Wow- this place transports you back to India! Be it the number of people waiting to be seated or the simple ambience just like a small cafe back home! This is one of my favorite indian restaurants which have cracked the code of crowd management. You first order your good, make payment and then for table assignment. Once seated, they are so efficient, never had i have to wait for more than 5 minutes. Additionally, all servers are very polite, will ensure to promptly give any extra chutneys or sambar. Now onto the food- taste is superb for everything we have tried to date- masala dosa, vadas, idlis, mysore masala dosa, rava dosa- you name it. Another plus is that, while waiting to be seated, you can also combine this with a quick grocery run at the neighboring madras groceries where you always find great indian vegetable. Yes, the ambience could have been better but food and efficient service makes it a 5 star experience!“

The variety of food was staggering - ridge gourds curry, plantain curry etc were new to me in a thaali. Other restaurants typically offer the same fare - carrot/beans, aloo etcContents of Thali- rice, choice of Poori/chappathi, dal (yum!), ridgeourd curry, plantain curry, sambhar, rasam (refreshing!), 2 types of pakoda and frymes. Helps that it was unlimited. The food was also not too spicy and most of it can be served to a baby.The restaurant ambience was also nice. Love the paintings and clean space. The wait staff were also so pleasing and nice and served every item with a smile.I really loved this place and cannot recommend it enough“
