“Marshall emphatically answers the question of "Where is the MEAT?" And, so well cooked. (They had their BBQ grill going in their front yard. Hot on the spot.) This place is one of the most "Down Home" joints I've eaten in many moons. Their best efforts are in the food, which is really appreciated.I stopped for lunch at 1pm, and most of the orders were take-out from the working folks in the area. That tells you most of what you need to know. They know which places are best. The eat-in-area is as it would have been in 1960, but who cares when the food is top drawer? I had the best TriTip with BBQ beans and cole slaw. Superb. If you are looking for the best BBQ in Ventura, I suspect this place is Top-3. I say that only because I have a few places yet to visit. I promise that you will LOVE the food here.“
“Very professional staff and Roger is hilarious! You guys catered my baby shower at Marina Park in Ventura and set up was great on timing, easily accessible, and my guests enjoyed the variety you helped me pick out. I had some vegetarians to please and you picked out wonderful alternatives to add to our BBQ meat picks! The overall communication leading up to my event was great. Thank you for making my life a little less stressful during that time. I would definitely use again for future parties ?“
“We were referred to Scooter by a friend to cater our outdoor wedding. Scooter was easy to work with, communicative, timely, and oh boy was the food yummy. The chicken was moist, the tritip was flavorful, and there were a variety of sides to choose from. In addition to the food, they provided plates, utensils and napkins for guests. There were 100 guests and we had plenty of food for seconds. Thank you Scooter and team!“
“This place has the best Hawaiian food in Ventura. The BBQ chicken is the go to item if you are new here. The Spam Masubi is just as good as the islands. They even make BBQ chicken Masubi which I love. Their version of Mac salad is perfect. They have a lot of other great menu items but my family and I keep coming back to the BBQ chicken. Grab a meal to try a bit of everything. You won't be disappointed.“
“We found Da Hickory House BBQ by searching Google for BBQ near me. While there are BBQ places in Ventura (No good ones in Ojai where we live), there really isn'ta great one that we've found, so we went here just to check it out and have eaten there twice so far.Food: The food is awesome! Ribs, tri-tip, hot links, beans, etc. BBQ not necessarily smoked BBQ which is fine with us.Price: Now that everything is expensive it's hard to say. We (2 people) pay around $50 for 2 rib plates with 2 hot links added, and cokes. Plenty of food. Both times we got to-go boxes.Atmosphere: Small, dimly lit, quiet, can be cold. It's was empty when we've went except for people there for take out.Service: Good service. A young man took our order and brought out our food. He was very polite and accommodating.I would hate to see this place close so go there and give it a chance!“
“First time to Wood Ranch BBQ restaurant. Arrived at 6:30pm. Immediately shown to a booth. Service was excellent. Our server (Debra) was very attentive & personable. We started with the Shredded Fried Onions with Barbecue and Ranch dip. Very tasty. We both had the Barbecue 7oz Tri-Tip medium. Tender juicy and flavorful. I had the Mac & Cheese plus Baked Beans for my sides. They were great. Unfortunately my wife chose the steamed Broccoli & Brussel Sprouts. The broccoli was not steamed enough virtually raw and the brussel sprouts were over cooked. Debra brought another perfectly steamed order of broccoli when when showed her how raw the original broccoli was. Overall a great experience, good food an excellent service. We will be back again.“
“Food is amazing. I got the two meat plate and it was delicious. I always get the 50/50 BBQ sauce, not to mild or not too hot. Garlic toast is so tasty and the macaroni and potato salads are good. Very busy place but they serve quick. Customers are in and out. Small dine in area. Accommodates a family of 4 or 5 easily, but room is limited. It's between Cronies and SkyHigh, so parking on the weekends is pretty full. It's my go to spot for delishes BBQ. Totally recommend.“
“My favorite time to go is Monday through Friday during their lunch specials from 11am-3pm. I get the Alfredo pasta with 2 breadsticks and a ceaser side salad for $10 and a soda for $1.49. With everything getting so expensive, I think they give a great deal.“
“This is the best Damm BBQ that I have ever had in my life. Reasonable price, Food was served to us in record time. Friendly hard working employees who will go out of their way to make sure you have the best dining experience possible.Parking: Plenty of parking. Handicap parking available also.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.“
“Finger licken good! Meat falling off the bone and into your mouth. You can tell the owner, Jason, has a passion for grilling. All the food is cooked perfectly and to make it even better the bbq sauce is just delish to smother on top of everything. Or maybe I can ask for a straw to drink it directly . I recently tried the brisket esquite, and I don't think I can have one anywhere else now. So yummy! Right now, you can enjoy this deliciousness at the Ventura Music Hall, which is actually a pretty cool spot. But there will be a new location soon, so stay posted so you know where to find this amazing bbq.“
