“Maybe off the beaten path and a no frills location but TOP NOTCH BBQ. First time trying Roysters but will not be our last. Some of the best BBQ I have had in CT. We tried nearly every meat and side available (Brisket, Pulled Pork, Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs, and Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage plus both cornbreads, smoked mushrooms, baked beans mac n cheese and coleslaw). Every bite was fantastic! Excellent smoke rings and nice bark, great spice to the BBQ sauce. You gotta give it try if in the area. Keep it up Brian, it was nice meeting you Sat. “This is such a great restaurant. Love the atmosphere here and the beauty of the place itself. The food is great. The happy hour food menu however is minimal and seriously lacking options. Also, the service at the bar is often very slow unfortunately.“
“I friend and I got on the waiting list. It was a less than five minute wait. The place was super busy but always very friendly and the service was great. We picked out two steaks. We sat down. We had the onion appetizer which was really good and then the steaks came out with two baked potatoes. The steaks were really good. I highly recommend it’s definitely a little noisy but other than that if you’re looking for a great bargain and good food. Texas roadhouse is good.“
“I order through doordash. Most recently I ordered the 2 meat combo with beans and a side of potato salad. The meat was brisket & pulled pork. Both were moist and delicious as well as the beans and corn bread. The potato salad had onions in it which I am not a fan of, so I only had a bite, but the flavor was not of a storemade variety. I asked for sauces on the side (Carolina & KC). The Carolina was spicy which I was not expecting at all. Overall, I enjoyed the food and plan on ordering again sometime.“
“Yesterday my wife and I had the pleasure of finding a new, to us, go to place. We were attending a Drag show that a friend of ours was a part of and we didn't know what to expect from a restaurant in and old gas station. Well hang onto your hats folks because you are in for a great experience. Jo, the manager has got to be the sweetest thing on this earth since sugar cane. She kept everything moving smoothly while having a constant smile. Kevin, our server, should give classes in how to be a waiter. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and again, smiling all the time. All that is well and good but how about the food? I ordered the "Hail Mary" bloody mary. On another day this could have served as my lunch. It is topped with the most delicious hamburg slider, with a side of a perfectly cooked bacon slice and two grilled shrimp. The taste of the burger had me looking for the charcoal grille. So, the presentation was great but the taste of the drink surpassed the look. I highly suggest you give it a try. I ordered the Valdese Burger for breakfast, Another perfectly cooked burger, topped with and egg and hollandaise with a side of a ton of tater tots, yes, tater tots. The waffle my wife had was cooked perfectly and she said the taste was outstanding. We live an hour and a half away, it is worth the trip. She also said, the coffee could make or break a good meal, well, this coffee just added to the overall excellence of the meal. The place was noisy which was to be expected due to the show being presented, Noisy, but, oh so much fun. The place is great. Make it a part of your "places to try" this summer. You will thank me.“
“We’re so lucky to have SDE in the neighborhood. The food is real and clearly cooked with love. My wife loves their Rasta pasta, and I like trying different things each time. Their callaloo dish is amazing. They definitely get this white boy’s Seal of Approval.“
“My boyfriend and I stopped here on my birthday. The food was DELICIOUS!!! The ribs were juicy and tender, the chicken was as well. The yams and potato salad were everything!! I didn't get to try the soda but I will next time. The owner was kind and nice and everyone should visit his establishment.“

“This was a perfect place to satisfy our BBQ craving during the wintertime! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with the smell of their delicious cooking. We were really big fans of their ribs, pulled pork Mac, and steak and cheese eggrolls. They've been making the same homemade recipes for 30+ years and I hope they never change a thing! What an East Haven gem. Even the cheesecake was homemade and so fluffy. All of the staff we met were incredibly welcoming and nice to talk to. We'll be back!!“
“Somebody finally got it right! This was my first visit to the location on Winchester Ave, New Haven CT, in the Science Park District. I was truly impressed. The atmosphere is clean, inviting, and family-friendly. The barbecue ribs were tender, juicy, and smoked to perfection. I met the owner, Ricky D, who has his own signature BBQ sauce and seasonings. His BBQ has just the right amount of twang & heat. We tried the wings as well with baked beans and cole slaw. Dinners come with 2 sides & cornbread. We had Mac & Cheese & Collard Greens, which were absolutely delicious. You can tell that Ricky D puts his heart & soul into what he does. If you are looking for BBQ I highly recommend Ricky D's Rib Shack. The next time, I'm going to try his brisket. With that being said, I'll be back!“
